Astoria and Fred watched Jade work quickly with a few people to heal Draco quickly. They watched her dress his wounds and even wash the mud from his face and hair.
"Ten Galleons says that she gets so mad that she saved Malfoy's life that she throws him out of this tree house for the savage monkeys to eat him." Fred said.
"I'll give you twenty that she says 'what the hell'"-
"What the hell?" Jade asked.
"Mhmm. I thought so. And since she's a good human being with no balls, she'll just owl Ginny and let her do the dirty work for her." Astoria said.
"What the hell is Malfoy doing here in the middle of the jungle?" Jade asked, still holding his head. She blinked and set his head down, gently patting a dry cloth on his face. "What on earth are you doing here?" Jade asked.
"I'd love to know the same thing." Fred said.
"I have to tell Ginny about this." Jade said, getting up quickly and leaving.
"Told you!" Astoria said, pumping her fist in the air.
"Why is he all the way out here? How did he manage to be in the same place where Jade would be?" Fred asked. Astoria shook her head.
"Like hell if I know. That is a good question. I kept telling him a thousand times but he wouldn't tell me. He said he was looking for a way to get rid of us." Astoria said.
"Get rid of us? What did we ever do to him?" Fred asked.
"Oh please Weasley. We're both the dream team for migraines. I personally love us when we put our heads together but imagine just listening to us when no one else hears us? He's my husband though…he should love that he still can see me and listen to me." Astoria frowned.
"I still can't figure out for the life of me why he can see and hear us when no one else can't. Jade definitely doesn't. Was he trying to look for her to hand us off or something? Because if that's the case then that's the nicest thing he can ever do for me." Fred said. Fred didn't hear Astoria respond. He only looked at her, seeing her tearing up.
"Hey." He said, putting an arm around her. "It'll be all right." Fred whispered.
Draco groaned, stirring awake. Fred and Astoria immediately ran towards him and poked their heads a few inches away from him, staring at him. Draco's vision cleared and he saw Fred and Astoria only a few inches from him, catching him off guard.
"ARRRGH!" Draco yelled.
"ARRRRGGHHH!" Fred and Astoria yelled back.
"What the hell is the matter with the both of you?!" Draco asked trying to get up.
"What's the matter with you? Who screams waking up?" Fred asked.
"Were you having a nightmare? You almost scared me to death!" Astoria said.
"Ha! Nice one!" Fred said, high fiving her.
"You both are the bloody nightmare." Draco muttered, sinking back into his bed.
"We prefer dream team." Fred said.
"I heard screaming." Jade said, running into the room.
"Longbottom. Nice of you to join us." Draco said. Jade walked towards him, taking the stethoscope out from around her neck.
"Doesn't look like you're with company." Jade said, looking around. Draco looked at Astoria and Fred who were silent, staring at her again.
"Old habit." He said as she pressed it against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
"Other than being delusional, what else are you experiencing?" she asked, shining a light in his eyes with her wand.
"I am not delusional." He said.
"You were talking to yourself when we found you and definitely talking to yourself before I got here." Jade said.
"I'm completely fine. Really, Longbottom. I'm not mental." Draco said.
"Sure you're not. It is a very far place from home. What on earth are you doing here?" Jade asked.
"What am I doing here? What have you been doing here for two years? Living in a bloody jungle. Is this your life now?" Draco asked.
"Full of questions, aren't you?" Jade asked, pulling up a chair in front of him.
"Could you blame me? A few people are actually curious about your whereabouts, believe it or not." He said seeing her smile.
"Oh really? Like you? Traveling a few thousand miles to come find little old me?" Jade asked. Draco smirked, looking at Fred and Astoria.
"I'm confused. Is she flirting with him?" Fred asked.
"Er…" Astoria said, looking at Jade. "I actually don't even know." She said, staring at the both of them, her mind working quickly.
"I've been traveling for a few months now. As a Healer in training, I'm gaining as much field experience in different countries as I possibly can." Jade said.
"Good for you. It's impressive that you're building up a resume for your future. I never thought a jungle could do that." He said. Jade grinned.
"This jungle has been so much fun and so incredibly peculiar. Now I have a story to tell when I come home, which reminds me to ask you; what are you doing here?" Jade asked. Draco sighed, rubbing his head. Jade got up and poured him a potion.
"I wanted to travel myself and I got lost." Draco said.
"Liar." Astoria and Fred said unanimously.
"Really? I never would have imagined you as the traveling type." Jade said.
"Well I decided that I should try things differently. Go exploring." Draco said.
"By yourself? In a Costa Rican jungle? Without a guide?" Jade asked.
"I think I did pretty well up until this far." He said, seeing her laugh.
"Yeah. You did an incredible job staying alive. Wow, this is bizarre isn't it? We both meet at the same place, at the same time after two years." Jade said.
"Totally serendipitous." Draco said.
"Is this the dead man you found?" a woman asked from the doorway. Jade turned around to see Sheila walking towards Draco and stuck her hand out. "Sheila Hodges. First year Healing student." Sheila said. Sheila had chocolate red hair that had been tied up into a high bun. She was wearing a leopard print midriff tank top and dark green shorts. Draco eyed her slowly, seeing her smirk.
"Draco Malfoy. Pleased to meet you, Sheila." Draco said.
"Enough touching each other." Astoria said but they were still holding on to each other. Astoria turned to Draco, looking at him with furious disbelief. "Drop that cow's hoof right now before I scream Celestina Warbeck's greatest hits all night into your hot red stupid ear!" Astoria screeched. Draco threw Sheila's hand away, making Sheila and Jade jump in surprise.
"Oh, uh, okay." Sheila said. Draco tried to smile as fake as he could at the two women.
"Well then. You should drink this and you should be better in a few days." Jade said, handing him the potion to drink.
"I'm going to check on a few other patients." Jade said, excusing herself. Draco was left with Sheila, Astoria and Fred.
"So Jade tells me you were a schoolmate?" Sheila asked, crossing her long legs in front of Draco.
"Yes…is that all she told you?" Draco asked, seeing Sheila shrug.
"She said she recognized you and when we asked how, she just said you two went to school together." Sheila said.
"Did she talk about me?" Astoria asked Sheila.
"You both probably dated or something. It would explain the tension between you two and how panicked she looked when she recognized you." Sheila said.
"In her dreams." Draco said, rolling his eyes.
"In your dreams Malfoy. You're just acting like you don't want her because you can't." Fred said.
Sheila looked at the direction that Draco was sending annoyed looks at and looked back at him, cautiously.
"Are you hallucinating?" Sheila asked, slowly.
"No. No, no. Just, I thought I saw something. So you've known Longbottom for how long?" Draco asked.
"Uh…for a few months now. We're in the same program. What were you doing so deep in the jungle by yourself, for?" Sheila asked.
"He had an itch for a tiger to come scratch his balls." Fred muttered, crossing his arms.
Jade watched Malfoy talking to Sheila, probably flirting the pants out of each other. She was slowly stitching up a native woman's gash on her arm and from time to time, checked on Malfoy's progress. She saw him repeatedly look at a corner and a whole range of emotions would be evident in his face, most of them being highly irritated. She saw Sheila even follow his gaze but he had brushed it off as nothing. Fred slowly walked over to Jade and sat down next to her, watching her fondly.
"Hello love." He said as softly as he could. Jade couldn't hear him. She continued to stitch the old woman's arm, focused on her work. "I see you went back to being a brunette. Looks nice on you." Fred said, his voice starting to weaken and raw from becoming overwhelmed. The old woman turned her head slowly at Fred, her face wrinkled and tired. She smiled, looking into Fred's eyes who smiled back. She had no gums but something about the joy of seeing Fred brightened her entire face.
"What is everyone smiling at?" Jade asked, looking at her patient who was smiling with her head turned. Jade tried to look at what she was looking but felt odd, looking at a wall.
"Cripes, we have to do something about my husband. He's going to fuck Slutty Sally over there if Jade doesn't go in there and do something about it." Astoria said, running a hand through her hair.
"Ass it's not the time. Go away. Let me have my moment." Fred said. Astoria looked at him in disbelief. She looked at the old woman who was pleasantly smiling at her now.
"Can you believe this prick?" Astoria asked her.
"She can't speak. Forget about it." Fred said.
"Of course. That's very convenient. Give it all to the deaf dumb and mute." Astoria shouted up in the sky.
"Ass, dumb and mute is actually-"
"It's a joke you idiot. You ruined it. Anyways, I have bigger problems. Sorry for interrupting your creepy up and close stalking but we have to do something about that." Astoria said, pointing to Draco.
"Do what? He's a grown man! He needs to find another life without you, Ass. I think that's part of the reason why we're here." Fred said, looking back at Jade. Astoria gave a short smile and nodded, sitting next to Fred.
"Oh okay. Sure. Another life right? By the way, your fiancée is engaged to another man. What? Who said that?" Astoria asked, looking around. Fred whipped around, his eyes bulging.
"WHAT?!" he shrieked. Astoria kissed her fingers and waved at him, walking away.
"Keep calm and find another life!" she said. Fred turned back to Jade, furious.
"YOU'RE ENGAGED?! TO WHO? I DEMAND YOU TELL ME!...ARGH!" Fred grunted, walking off to catch up to Astoria. "Who the bloody hell is she engaged to? You're making this up aren't you? To get a response from me?" Fred asked.
"Why the hell would I make that up? Ask Draco! Him and his new friend in there was just talking about her. That's why I came out of there to tell you!" Astoria said.
"Well who is it? Is it someone here? Could we kill him?" Fred asked, looking around fervently.
"She didn't say. She just said she was engaged. I asked Draco to ask her but he's ignoring me." Astoria said, shaking her head. Fred clenched his jaw, turning red. Astoria felt bad and took his arm but he tried to resist her. She put her arms around her, hugging him as tightly as she could, feeling him hug her back.
"I know how you feel. It's not easy, I know that." Astoria said.
"I should be happy for her. She shouldn't be alone but after such a long time…it's just hard to feel like I'm being replaced by some twat." Fred choked. Astoria nodded, wiping his face.
"I know love. And you know what? He's probably never going to be as funny and annoying as you." Fred smiled at her.
"Really? That's probably the sweetest thing you've ever said to me." Fred said, seeing her grin.
"I guarantee it!" Astoria said.
