CHAPTER FIVE
The Curious Case Of Mr. Saitama
"Perhaps he's an alien..." said Recovery Girl. She received confused faces from the other two. "I mean, think about it. He hasn't shown up on hero, villain, and public records. He's surprisingly bald, and his suit looks like something an alien would make."
Saitama's mouth gaped open in shock and anger. Then he retorted, "I'm not an alien! How does my outfit even look like something an alien would make?! I don't even sound like an alien!"
"He could also be a body snatcher..."
"I'm not an alien! Genos will vouch for!-- Oh, that's right... he's not here..." Saitama then began to leave the office.
"Mr. Saitama, where are you going?" Uravity called out down the hallway Saitama was walking down.
"We need to find my 'disciple', Genos," he replied, "He'll prove to that motherly dwarf that I'm not an alien."
"But you don't even know where you're going!"
Saitama stopped walking. "Oh... good point." He then turned towards Uravity and said, "Where's the exit?"
"Mr. Saitama, surely you understand that we have more pressing matters to deal with here. Deku still needs to heal, I don't know where law enforcement or the other heroes are, and we still don't know what that... what that thing was in the sky."
"It's probably a portal... monsters seem really fond of using those where I'm from..."
"Ok, but still. We need a plan of action before we do anything rash. I promise this much though. We will help you find who you're looking for." She suddenly heard the sound of Deku waking up and rushed back inside.
Saitama stood still in the hallway, having trouble making up his mind. On the one hand, he really wanted to find his disciple so he could prove that he wasn't an alien. But on the other hand, he had no idea where he was, and these people were his best chance of finding his way around. With a sigh, he began to walk back into the office.
As he walked in, he saw Recovery Girl smiling from her seat, as Uravity was bent over Deku, ready to take care of his every need without hesitation. "Looks like he recovered much faster than I predicted. Always a fighter, that one," said Recovery Girl with a sly grin.
As Saitama looked over, he noticed how Uravity had tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm so glad you're ok," she said.
"Heh... me too," replied Deku, "Today's been pretty wild." He then turned towards Saitama and said, "Thanks Mr. Saitama. You... you saved me... and Uravity..."
"Eh... what can I say... I'm just a hero for fun," Saitama replied with a slight grin, "though it does feel nice to get a little recognition."
Deku raised an eyebrow at that. "What do you mean?"
"Well, in the association I work for, I'm not exactly 'in' with the popular crowd when it comes to superheroes. My own disciple is actually a bigger deal than I am."
Deku was shocked "What?!" he exclaimed, "But how?! You literally punched that monster and it exploded! It was, well, surprisingly graphic... but so cool!"
Uravity jumped in, "Speaking of which, as a hero, isn't it wrong to kill? You may have saved us, which I'm extremely grateful for, but I don't think you had to kill him."
"Well, maybe, but I'll have you know, it's not easy to pull any punches when lives are at stake. Plus, that was no man. That was some psycho that was cooked up and bred in a laboratory. I feel like that at least cuts me some slack."
"But... isn't all life important?..."
Saitama placed his head in his hand and said, "Good grief. Now is not the time for a philosophical convo. Save it for the lecture. I just want to find my disciple and go home. I'm tired, and that udon is starting to mess with my system. If you'll excuse me." He then dashed out of the office and took a right.
"Down the left, take a right, it'll be on your right!" Uravity called out quickly.
"Thank you!" yelled Saitama as he spun around and passed by the office again, now heading in the right direction.
Uravity then got up from where Deku lied and said, "I'm gonna try to find our classmates over at the dorms. I'm a little worried that none of them responded to my distress message earlier. Hopefully they can help with whatever is going on today."
"Good idea," Deku replied, "I'll wait for Mr. Saitama to get back and then we'll meet you at the classroom."
"Okay!" She left the office with her usual bubbly expression, Deku chuckling to himself as he watched her go. He then lied back down, but noticed Recovery Girl smirking at him from the corner of his eye. "What?" he asked as he looked over at her.
"Oh nothing," she said as she turned back to typing on her computer, a confused Deku wondering what had been so funny.
Uravity was now running towards the Class 1-A dorms, her home away from home. As she vaulted over the front porch, she shoved open the doors, her chest heaving in and out, trying to catch her breath. "Ok... that was farther than I remembered," she said to herself. As she lifted her head and stood upright, she saw that the common room was surprisingly empty.
Her brows furrowed, wondering where everyone could be. Surely someone must be here, she thought. With that, she ran towards the kitchen, but no one was there. She then proceeded to bolt up the stairs to check the dorm rooms for her classmates. As she got on to the first level, where all the boys stayed, she noticed that Bakugo's door was slightly ajar. You've got to be kidding me, she thought, with him being the last person in the class that she'd want help from. Ok, second to last person. Mineta would be worse than him, for a number of reasons.
As she went towards the door, she began to push it open slowly, light pouring into the darkened room. Once the door was open all the way, she saw that Bakugo had crashed atop his bed, still in his bulky hero suit, grenade gauntlets and all. But Uravity noticed something she had never noticed before. While he slept, his face looked... rather peaceful, which was totally unlike him when he was awake.
Suddenly, the sound of loud thumping and banging could be heard from next door, Kirishima's room. "I swear... if he doesn't shut up..." Bakugo muttered, his eyes still shut. Suddenly, his eyes opened with rage and he bolted upright, sparks flying between his finger tips. "I'M GONNA KILL HIM!!!" He then noticed Uravity in the open doorway. "Huh... What are you doing in my room, Round Face?!"
Usually she'd jump back in fright, but today, she stood her ground. She responded tersely, "I need your help, Bakugo."
"Not gonna happen, Pink Cheeks," said Bakugo, who now pushed his way past Uravity, "If you'll excuse me, I have to show a neighbor who's boss on this floor." He then proceeded to rap aggressively on Kirishima's door. "Knock it off in there! I'm trying to get some shut-eye!" The loud banging from inside continued still. Now even Uravity was wondering what was going on inside, as she now stood behind Bakugo with curiosity.
"I warned you, Spikey! You mess with my sleep, you make things personal!"
Bakugo grabbed the door handle and twisted it open. Once the door was wide open, the two classmates stood still in shock. Inside, a multicolored portal hovered perpendicular to the doorway, with small items swirling around the room and repeatedly hitting the wall between Kirishima's room and Bakugo's room.
"Just like the one on Jung-Lo Street," Uravity said to herself.
Bakugo, having overhead her, spun around and said, "Wait a minute! You're telling me you've seen this before, Round Face?!"
"Yes and I have a name you know."
"Didn't ask!"
"Hey, what's going on, you guys?"
Bakugo and Uravity jumped, spinning around to see Kirishima before them, his skin and red hair still wet. He wore only a towel around his waist, in which Uravity started to blush.
"Um... if you don't mind me asking... what are you doing in my bedroom?..." he asked.
"I thought you were in here trying to disrupt my sleep, but I opened it up and found this," said Bakugo gruffly, moving back so Kirishima could get a glimpse, "Care to explain, Shortcake?"
Kirishima peered in to his room, seeing the portal taking up his living space. His eyes widened at the sight of some of his furniture and clothes levitating about. Looking towards the left wall of his room, he saw a tremendous amount of scrapes from flying objects. "Well, I certainly didn't put that in there. How am I supposed to work out?"
"Well, it's your room, so you better deal with it," said Bakugo, "I'm going back to bed." He began to head back towards his room, but Uravity caught him by the shoulder before he could get away. "Let go of me," he growled.
"Hold on," said Uravity, "I need your help. Your's too, Kirishima. Is there anyone else here?"
"I don't think so," he replied while scratching the back of his spikey-haired head, "I haven't seen anyone for the last hour or so. Why? What's going on?"
"We had a monster attack on Jung-Lo street," said Uravity, "It emerged from a portal that was very similar to yours. I'm starting to think there could be more, and if that's so, the whole city is in danger."
"Woah. You could've given us a call if you needed help, you know."
"We did, but no one came to help."
"No one?" asked Kirishima, "Weird. Let me check my phone." He was about to go grab his phone from his room, but then he saw the portal. "Oh... right... that thing... Hey, Baku-bro, you mind pulling up the group chat?"
Bakugo sighed. "Fine. But I'm doing this cause I really wanna take on some villains." He then pulled up the Class 1-A group chat, and scrolled towards the bottom, but saw that the most recent message was from three days ago. "Nothing on here. Your phone must be whack."
Uravity furrowed her brows in thought. "Hmm, maybe the portals have an effect on outgoing and incoming signals. I don't know how that would work, but that seems like our only explanation. At least I have you two. We're gonna need all the help we can get. C'mon, we gotta get a plan together. Let's go." At that, she walked past the two guys towards the stairs.
"Well, Baku-bro, sounds like the city needs some help from Class 1-A," said Kirishima, "Let's go!"
"Yeah, cause Spa-boy will save the day once again," said Bakugo with a sly grin.
Kirishima looked down at the towel around his waist and let loose a sheepish grin. "Good point. I'll go get my spare hero suit from the lockers. Where should I meet you guys at?"
"At out classroom," said Uravity, "and Deku will be there too. And so will this guy we found. We'll tell you all about it once you get there."
"Sounds like a plan," said Kirishima with a large smile and a thumbs up. He then took off towards the shared restrooms, his towel flowing in the wind, but thankfully not enough to expose his rear end.
"Ugh, what did Deku get himself into this time?..." said Bakugo gruffly.
"It would be best if he explained it to you."
"Yeah... unlikely... Alright, let's go save his sorry butt."
Uravity rolled her eyes as Bakugo accompanied her back to the recovery office. As they left the dorms, a strange whistling eminated from Kirishima's room. Within moments, a slender ninja walked out of his room. "Whatever it takes..." he said. He then ran and jumped out of an open window at the end of the hallway.
