Found a way I want to actually start this story. If anyone wants they are free to use the rules page as the basis for a fic of their own. Mine will start before Harry is 11. Dudley is a girl and his family doesn't hate him. No dumbledore bashing though at times it may seem that way, he is not the bad guy nor is he a bumbling idiot but he is a man who works 3 full time jobs and is older and not as sharp as he once was. Ron may get bashed a bit but that's mostly because I never liked him and while I understood why Harry kept him around he won't in this story. Hermione may seem to get bashed at first but I promise she will undergo growth. Rule 21 will go a long way towards helping her.

After the events of that terrible Halloween night Albus Dumbledore does not know who to trust. He would have thought he could trust Sirius Black but he had betrayed the Potters and then tried to kidnap Harry. Peter Petigrew would have been trusted but he got blown up, the staff at Hogwarts he mostly trusts he isn't sure about Snape something just seems wrong with him. Where to take young Harry, where can he be safe and loved and not exploited. Didn't Lilly have a sister, one who wrote him a letter all those years ago? Perhaps a visit to her would be in order. He asks Minerva to come with him as she has been simply amazing with Harry and the 3 of them go to number 4 Private Drive. Albus nocks on the door hoping that on this Saturday morning her and her husband are home. When the door opens and Petunia answers it and sees a baby she immediately fears the worst and invites them in and calls for Vernon to put the kettle on and join them in the living room.

Albus begins "I am sorry to have to be the one to inform you but your sister and her husband died on Halloween night. Their son survived however and the number of people I can trust to look after Harry seems to be shrinking by the day. Harry's godfather appears to have been the one to betray their location to their murderer, their other friends well one is dead after being blown to bits, one is in a medically induced coma along with her husband, the other we haven't had contact with in almost 8 months now and are presuming him dead. I would ask that you and your husband raise Harry as your own, I know Lilly was over the moon when she heard you were pregnant at the same time. You won't have to worry about your safety. I will be paying for the greatest ward masters in the world to come and secure the house, with your permission of course. This is not contingent on you taking Harry. Lilly would have wanted to make sure you are safe."

Petunia is crying by this point, Vernon on the other hand is seething with rage he asks in a calm tone "What happened to the one who killed my sister in law? He better be dead or I will kill him myself. Of course we will take little Harry in. I am sure Lilly would have done the same for us if the situation was reversed. These wards you mentioned, how do they work?"

Albus smiles "Thank you. Basically they are a way to keep things out as well as alert people to attempts to come in or fires or anything wrong with the house. They are invisible and non magical people won't feel them when they cross them. We will give you a way to alert you when things go wrong. One of the things I will make sure to have set up is an intent based ward so that anyone who intended to do harm to anyone in the house will not be allowed in. As far as the man who killed them, well that's complicated and we don't have all the answers yet and we may never have them. Basically after he killed James downstairs he went up to kill Harry and Lilly refused to let him and so he killed her as well then he tried to kill Harry and something happened and it didn't work and either killed him instead or removed him from his body. I say that because his body was not there when I arrived but everything else of his was. It appears to be ancient magic that saved Harry's life though as I said no one really knows."

Vernon seems to have calmed down at this "I am glad to hear he is gone. I assume Harry here is going to be a big deal in your world because of what happened? How can we prepare him for that?"

Albus frowns at that "I honestly don't know. As chief warlock, kind of like the prime minister I will be working towards limiting his exposure but I can't say I can stop everything. I would say the best way to insulate him from that fame is going to be to try and have his scar fixed. Magic doesn't seem to be able to fix it but perhaps muggle medicine can. I would bring him to Gringotts when he is 9 his family had their library moved there when James' father was killed. I don't know how much of the Potters estate made it through the war but Harry has been awarded 100,000 Galleons or roughly 500,000 pounds for his defeat of Voldemort. I would ask you invest this money for him. I know it can't bring his parents back but if treated well it may be enough to have him escape the spotlight. He deserves that much at least."

Vernon nods his head "We can do that." With that settled Albus and Minerva leave Harry with Petunia and Vernon. Minerva asks if she can come by on occasion as is told that would be fine. Once the magicals leave Vernon turns to Petunia "I know we couldn't have another kid but now we have another one to raise it's almost as though fate knew we wanted another child. While I wish the circumstances were different I can't say I am not happy to have another little one around." This gets a smile from Petunia as she nods her head.

Since Vernon worked in the accounting department at Grunnings he was rather good with money and knew several people who excelled in investing when he told them he wanted to invest his nephews life insurance money they were more than willing to help especially after he gave them a modified version of events. They did this for free and so Harry's money grew unknown to him he even had it. Time marches on as it always does and Harry has a remarkably boring childhood. Him and his cousin Dorthy are close exactly like Petunia hoped. Harry is smart and good with numbers and seems to absorb books.

Aunt Petunia had asked the doctor when she first took Harry to see him if there was something that could be done about his scar. When she explained how he got it the doctor was more than happy to recommend a plastic surgeon to her. This is how by the time Harry was 5 he had lost that scar on his head. No one had any idea that by doing so they had changed his life forever. Rule 7 began to apply regardless of Harry knowing it or not.

When Harry is 9 his aunt sits him down for a talk feeling that now he is old enough to know some of the details about his parents death and why he is living with them. She explains that Harry's parents died protecting him from a very bad man and that is why he lives with them. She explains he is a wizard and that makes him special. She explains they have a whole different world right beside the one he sees everyday. She explains that in a few years he will get to go a school that teaches magic. She asks him if he wants to see this magical world. When he responds in the affirmative they plan a visit for that weekend. Once the weekend rolls around the whole family goes together to London. Once there Petunia directs them to the leaky cauldron and from there they are allowed into the magical side of the world.

Once they are through the barrier they all take a minute to take in the sight around them, it is truly unlike anything they have ever seen before. The closest thing they can think of is stepping onto a movie set. They approach the bank as Petunia explains they have to have wizarding money to shop at these stores, she also explains that Goblins run the bank and they don't seem to like being interrupted or talked down to.

Once they enter the bank and they get in line a teller calls over for the next person and the young family walks over. "How can Gringotts help you today?" asks the goblin

Harry and Dorthy are staring at the goblin in obvious amazement while Vernon stumbles for a bit having expected them to be a bit different before he begins "I have here a Mister Harry Potter, we were told to bring him here after he turned 9 to see about examining the remains of the Potter estate. Also while we are here we would like to exchange some of our british pounds for Gallons?" He says questioning if he said that last word right

When the goblin hears this he immediately looks over at the young boy and then back to the rest of the family. "If what you say is true then I will take you to the account manager, there is much you will need to discuss." They are then led away into a back room where another goblin is sitting behind a desk. "Manager Broadaxe This family claims to have Harry Potter." The first goblin then leaves.

Broadaxe motions for them to sit before starting "My name is Broadaxe can you explain to me how exactly you have Harry Potter." he phrased it as a question but his tone left no room to not answer it.

Petunia begins "Albus Dumbledore and Minerva Mcgonagall brought him to us. Lilly was my sister and so Harry is my nephew. The way Albus explained it he didn't know who to trust and so as family I was allowed to take him in. He mentioned we should come here after Harry was 9 to explore what was left of the estate and get him some books that had been left in your care. We tried to limit his exposure to the wizarding world due to the circumstances around his parents death. We haven't told him everything yet as he is only 9."

Broadaxe nods "That makes sense as Lilly's sister you would have priority after his Godparents both of whom are unavailable. I would like to run a simple test on all of you mostly for my curiosity but also to ensure you are who you say you are. The test is rather simple: prick your finger with the knife I provide and drop some blood on the paper I will put in front of you. It will show who you are and any connections with anyone beyond the level of friend."

Petunia and Vernon are very curious about this and after seeing their kids nod their heads agree. The knife is passed out and the test taken as words begin appearing on the paper starting with their name and branching out like a family tree. On the reverse side is a circle with their name and from it a series of other circles with names in them.

Bluntaxe explains "The first side is your family tree. Hopefully there are no surprises there. The back is where it gets interesting. The first circle past your name is those that either claim you as family or you claim as family, the next circle is true friends, the circle in black is those who consider you an enemy."
