LifeRodney sighed and leant against the cell wall. "I'm sorry about this."
"Rodney," Radek said simply. "Without you life would be easy. I would not have life or death decisions to make. I would not be shot at on far-off alien planets, I wouldn't live in fear of having my life sucked out and things would be a lot simpler." Rodney was wincing at every word and Radek continued. "Without you life would be safe and normal and I know I would hate it. So even if we die here today, I want to thank you for giving me the best adventures of my life. Despite our occasional disagreements I cannot think of anyone I would rather have shared it with than you."
Rodney looked at him in surprise and then he smiled at seeing the total and affectionate sincerity on Radek's face. He didn't say anything, he didn't need to.
And from above came the sound of guns and explosions, the cavalry were here.
Rodney got to his feet, using the wall as leverage and held out a hand to help Radek up.
It appeared that that, once again, they would live to fight another day.
Rodney couldn't wait.
