Elowen and Stefan entered the living room at the boarding house and found Damon and Luke. Elowen saw Luke and frowned.
"Luke? What are you doing here?" She asked.
"He's doing me a favor," Damon replied before throwing an ice cube at him. "And he's doing a bad job at it. Where's your sister?"
Luke opened his eyes and looked at Damon. "She's tired of being almost murdered. Look, I can find any person anywhere on the planet, okay? There's just something weird with your friend, Enzo. I can't get a read."
Elowen and Stefan shot each other and looked. Stefan cleared his throat.
"Enzo? Didn't he, uh, go to Cape Horn?"
"He flipped his switch. There should've been a body count all the way to the airport," Damon responded.
"Well, why are you looking for him?"
"Gee, I don't know, Stefan. Vampire with no humanity who wants me dead for killing his girl. Hm."
"He probably found a witch to put a cloaking spell on him," Elowen said quickly. "I used one on me and Stefan back when we were with Klaus, remember? Which means he doesn't want to be found." She paused. "And I'm not even going to be offended that you asked Luke for help and not your witchy ex girlfriend."
The front door opened and Tyler burst in.
"We have a problem."
Elowen frowned. "What kind of problem?"
Tyler came over and sat down on the couch.
"Markos turned Sloan into a vampire, had her drink doppelganger blood, and after some chanting ritual thing, she turned human again."
"He cured her?" Damon asked in surprise.
"He cured her to death. The blood took away her vampirism, but left her in the state that she was in just before she turned."
"That state being dead," Stefan stated. "Got it."
"So it kills vampires. What does the spell mean for witches?" Luke asked.
"No one cares," Damon cut in, but before he could say anything else, Elowen jumped in.
"Uh, I care. Duh." She faced Tyler. "Continue."
"The point is, they feel if they can get rid of all magic, they'll break some lame ass witch curse."
"Markos said that they can't settle anywhere without evoking earthquakes or hellfire, but they break that curse, and they just move right on into Mystic Falls," Damon remarked in annoyance.
"And come after Elena and me," Stefan pointed out. "As in, now."
"Oh, well, Markos had a good week or two in the land of the living. Now, where is he so I can kill him?"
Tyler shook his head. "No idea. They were moving camp when I got out."
"Well, good news. Our friend, Luke, here is an alleged genius at locater spells."
Luke shook his head. "Travelers are always moving. They're impossible to track. They'll find Stefan and Elena long before we can find them."
Damon turned to Elowen. "What about one of those cloaking spells you were just talking about?"
Elowen shrugged. "If the travelers really are gaining power, they'll be able to bypass the spell without even trying. It would need to be constant, not just a one time spell. It would need to be something like that witch, Hazel, did with Tom Avery. I don't know what spell that was."
"I do," Luke spoke up. "If both doppelganger's are in the same place, I can do it."
"Perfect." Damon turned to Tyler. "You avoid the Czech language, figure out how to find Markos."
Tyler frowned. "How am I supposed to do that?"
"Well, you have a traveler inside of you. I mean, I have probably misplaced faith that you'll figure it out." He turned to Stefan. "Meanwhile, you and I, our ex girlfriend, and Elena are gonna go on a little secret trip."
Elowen frowned. "Why do I have to go?"
"Because, while our friend Luke is casting the spell, you will be our witchy backup in case something happens."
Elowen sighed, but shrugged. "Fine. Excuse me, I have to go pack."
"We'll pick you up!" Damon called as she left.
Elowen waved, indicating that she'd heard him, and then exited the house.
xxxx
Elowen and Stefan were outside of Bill Forbes's cabin, unloading the car.
"This is a terrible idea," Elowen said to Stefan as she handed him a bag.
"Well, what did you want me to say?" Stefan asked. "'No, Damon. It will be awkward to have the three of us confined to Caroline's dad's cabin because I killed your best friend and Elowen's keeping that a secret for me'?"
Elowen sighed. "I still can't decide if it would've been better to tell him the truth or not. I'm not in the mood to deal with another Damon rampage so soon after the last one, but at the same time… Enzo was Damon's friend."
"I know. Either way-"
Caroline came up to them, prompting Stefan to shut up.
"Good news! We don't have to be invited in, which is actually super sad if you think about it."
Stefan nodded. "Hm."
Caroline narrowed her eyes. "Am I interrupting something?"
Elowen shook her head. "Nope! We were just unpacking. Right, Stefan?"
Stefan nodded again. "Uh-huh." He handed Caroline the bag Elowen gave him earlier. "Here you go."
Caroline took the bag, but laughed off her suspicions.
"Okay."
She turned and took the bag inside. Once she was gone, Elowen turned to Stefan.
"Where's Damon now?"
"Helping Luke set up," Stefan replied.
Elowen sighed and shook her head. "You don't think the three of us being together when we're all broken up will be weird, do you? Because usually, I'm with at least one of you."
Stefan laughed. "It'll sure be, uh… interesting."
"I bet you that we won't be able to get through the rest of the day without an incident."
Stefan grinned. "You're on."
They grabbed the rest of the stuff out of the back of the car and walked towards the cabin, where Caroline was watching them from the porch.
"Which room is mine?" Elowen asked as she passed Caroline, who pointed towards the stairs.
"First door on the left."
Elowen nodded and continued her way up the stairs and towards her room. She was unpacking her things when she heard someone walk in. She looked over her shoulder and found Damon standing in the doorway.
"You know, it's really gonna suck knowing that neither Salvatore brother is gonna be able to keep me warm tonight."
Damon scoffed. "Pfft. You're perfectly capable of snuggling up to the blankets."
Elowen slowly halted her movements, suddenly remembering what it felt like to sleep in between both Stefan and Damon and how safe it made her feel. It almost made her sad. Damon frowned when she stopped putting her clothes inside the drawers and just stood there.
"Everything okay?"
Elowen jumped slightly, being jarred from her thoughts. She nodded.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
She turned and walked over to the bed, towards her open bag, so she could grab more of her things. Damon cleared his throat.
"Look, I'm sorry about Enzo," he started to say, making Elowen pause. "I feel like it was partially my fault. I mean, if I never killed Maggie, he wouldn't have felt the need to do what he did. I'm gonna hunt his ass down, I'm gonna whip some sense into him, and I'm gonna make him apologize in person, okay?"
Elowen sighed and willed herself to look Damon straight in the eye so she could lie to him.
"You're not responsible for Enzo's actions, Damon. Maybe you should just… let him go. Clearly, he doesn't want to be found." Before Damon could reply, Elowen beat him to it. "Look, Stefan asked me to help him bring firewood in. I'll talk to you later."
Elowen walked around the bed and past Damon, then left the room.
xxxx
Angel and Bonnie were sitting on Bonnie's bed in the dorm room, making out, when Angel pulled away. Bonnie tilted her head.
"What?"
Angel sighed. "It's just… this whole thing with the other side collapsing, with you in it."
"We have the dorm to ourselves for an entire weekend, and you want to talk logistics?"
"I think I would enjoy this weekend a whole lot more if I didn't think you were about to disappear from life itself."
"I told you, Liv is working on a spell to keep me here."
Angel's phone started vibrating in his pocket. Bonnie looked down at it.
"Oh, another secret bro meeting?"
"No more secrets, remember?" Angel took his phone out to read the text. "Tyler's back. We should get over there. Let me grab my stuff."
Angel gave Bonnie a quick kiss before standing up and leaving the room. Bonnie sighed, standing up as well, before sensing someone behind her. She turned around and found Sheila and Josiah standing there.
Josiah crossed his arms. "So, what exactly is this spell our good friend Liv has concocted?"
Bonnie sighed again. "I know I shouldn't lie."
"He deserves the truth, Bon. They all do. It's only fair that they get to say their goodbyes."
Sheila nodded in agreement. "It's not getting any better over here. People are getting swept away, and when this place goes, you are going with it."
"I know I have to tell him," Bonnie admitted softly. "I just need a few more days with him before I-"
Sheila took a step towards Bonnie and accidentally knocked a lamp off of the table. The three of them all looked down at it in shock.
"How did you do that?" Bonnie asked quickly. "How did you move that? You can't move things from the other side. That doesn't happen."
Josiah slowly picked up the lamp and placed it back on the table. He looked up at Bonnie.
"That's what we're trying to tell you. This place is falling apart. Tell him soon. False hope never did anyone any good. It only protects you, and it'll hurt everyone else in the end."
xxxx
"I feel like a hypocrite," Elowen told Stefan as they collected firewood out in the shed.
"What for?" Stefan asked, turning his attention away from the firewood.
Elowen sighed. "I always make such a big deal out of not lying and being honest, and I'm not even following my own rules. I suck."
"You don't suck. I'm the one that put you in this position. It's either back up ex boyfriend #1 and save him from his brother's wrath, or run and tell ex boyfriend #2 the truth and stab boyfriend #1 in the back. If anything, I suck."
"It's not your fault Enzo used you to commit suicide. I saw the whole thing go down, Stefan. His blood is not on your hands."
"Yeah, well, it still feels like it is. It's what Enzo wanted, and I refuse to give him the satisfaction of feeling guilty about any of it."
"I don't know, Stefan. I don't think Damon is just gonna forget and move on this time."
"Well, we need to hope that he does, for both of our sake. Come on. Let's get out of here."
Elowen nodded, and she followed Stefan out of the shed.
Inside the cabin, Elena was lounging on the couch in the living room while Damon and Caroline were in the kitchen. Caroline was sitting at the counter, snacking on some cherries while writing something down on slips of paper. Damon was preparing drinks.
"Hey, munchie," he said to Caroline. "Those are not for you."
"Ssh," Caroline shushed. "I'm thinking."
Damon rolled his eyes and took some slips of paper out of the hat sitting on the counter. Caroline pouted.
"Hey!"
"Area 51," Damon read off.
"Stop!"
"J.F.K Assassination? What the hell is that-"
"You're ruining the game!"
"What game?"
"Charades. Our theme is secrets that people think they're getting away with."
"Well, Meryl Streep, I'd love to know how we're gonna act out Watergate."
"Well, I'm sure team Stelowen will figure it out."
"One, you just implied that I was on your team. Two, you just gave me that judgy little hinty voice, so what am I missing?"
"It's probably nothing."
"Speak."
"Well, don't you think that Stefan and Elowen have been a little… you know?"
"No. Clearly, I don't."
"Secretive? I caught them being all hushed and whispery at the car this morning, and now they're getting firewood out of the shed together, which apparently takes 20 minutes."
"Maybe they're back together and they don't want anyone to know yet," Elena piped up from the living room.
Caroline looked over at Elena with a frown. "Yeah, but why? I'm her best friend. She's supposed to tell me these things."
Elena shrugged. "I'm still not sure why they broke up in the first place, but maybe they're still working things out and don't want to make a big deal out of it. You're good at that, Care."
Caroline gaped at Elena. "Rude! Take that back!"
"You know," Damon cut in before Elena could reply. "When I brought up Enzo earlier, Elowen completely brushed me off. I thought she'd have more to say, considering she kind of hated him."
Caroline snorted. "She had every right to. He made you all mean and murdery again. Nobody likes you when you're like that."
Elowen and Stefan came back into the cabin at that moment. Elowen saw that Damon was making drinks and wrinkled her nose.
"Please tell me you have soda or something."
Damon gestured behind him. "There's coke in the fridge."
"Thank god."
Stefan cleared his throat. "I'll, uh, I'll make a fire."
"I'll help," Elowen offered, walking off with Stefan.
Damon leaned over to Caroline and dropped his voice into a whisper.
"Let the games begin."
xxxx
Elowen silently sipped her soda as she watched everyone else play charades. When Stefan and Elena scored another point, Caroline nudged her.
"You're being boring," she deadpanned. "You're just sitting here and allowing Stefan and Elena to kick our asses."
Elowen shrugged. "I don't do charades. Every time I play, I win because I have a little extra magical help. It sucks the fun out of things."
"Fine," Damon piped up. "How about we play a game called never have I ever, hm?"
"Oh, I don't think I'm drunk enough," Elena said as she came to sit down.
"Uh, never have I ever is a drinking game," Elowen reminded. "Which means it's only fun if everyone is drinking. I think I'll-"
"Please don't say that you're going to pass," Caroline cut her off. "You don't have to have a drink. It'll be fun!"
Elowen sighed. "Alright, fine."
Caroline grinned. "Perfect! I'll go first. Never have I ever died."
Damon lifted his drink. "Cheers to that one."
They all took a sip of their drinks.
"Ooh! Okay, um, never have I ever had my soul overtaken by a 400 year old spirit," Stefan said.
Elowen threw the pillow on the couch at Stefan. "Mean! Never have I ever been kissed by said 400 year old spirit."
Stefan playfully glared at Elowen, but both him and Damon drank. Caroline and Elena's mouths both dropped open. Caroline lightly kicked Elowen in the leg.
"Uh, hello? When did this happen?"
Elowen shrugged. "Marisol had a thing for both of them. Damon more than Stefan, considering Stefan had his humanity off for most of the time she was here."
"And you didn't tell me? I'm offended."
"I wasn't gonna air Marisol's business out to dry. Besides, I don't think she wanted anybody to know. She was already embarrassed enough as it was."
"Hmph. Never have I ever kissed a Salvatore brother."
"Oh, come on! Why can't you guys play fair?"
"Today."
Elowen paused. An awkward silence fell over the room as Elowen and Caroline stared at each other. Elena loudly cleared her throat and took a sip from her drink.
"So are you gonna drink, or...?" Caroline asked, breaking the silence.
"Are you implying something?" Elowen shot back.
"Well, I'm gonna get another round," Stefan spoke, starting to get up. "Does anybody-"
"Never have I ever lied about where Enzo is," Damon quickly cut in.
Another heavy silence fell over the group.
"Okay, what is going on?" Caroline asked.
"Nothing, obviously, because nobody's drinking," Stefan said.
"I mean, clearly you know the rules of the game, right, brother?" Damon asked. "If you lied, you drink."
"Oh, no. I understand the rules."
Elowen finished off her soda. "Okay, you two do your usual brother rivalry thing. Since I'm no longer with either of you, I am no longer obligated to be the mediator. Good luck."
She stood up and left the room, choosing to head upstairs. She decided to take a bath and then most likely go to sleep, so she made a pitstop to her room to grab clothes and a towel before making her way into the bathroom. She set her stuff down and went over to the bathtub to turn it on. As the water warmed up, she added some bubble bath before stripping herself of her clothes. She turned off the bath once the tub and filled up and carefully slipped into the water. She relaxed, resting her head on the back of the tub, when suddenly, she was pushed down into the water.
Enzo, who she couldn't see, was holding her underneath the water, watching as Elowen struggled against his hold, when someone grabbed onto him and roughly yanked him away.
"Stay away from my sister, dick!" Josiah hissed, pushing him across the room.
Enzo stumbled, but caught his balance.
"Ah, you must be the dead brother. I thought you'd be… taller."
"Touch her again, and I'll make sure you get sucked into oblivion when the time comes."
Behind them, Elowen coughed and spluttered, gasping for air, when Damon came into the bathroom.
"Wen-" He saw the state she was in and rushed over. "Oh my god. Wen? Are you okay?"
Elowen shook her head, pulling herself out of the bathtub. Damon grabbed the towel she'd brought in and wrapped it around her, holding her close.
"What happened?"
Elowen swallowed. "There was someone in here, holding me under the water."
"Who?"
"I don't know. I didn't see anyone, but… I could feel someone pushing me under. I know I'm not crazy."
"Okay, I'd blame it on the spirit of Bill Forbes, but I don't think you're his type. Besides, why would a ghost be targeting you?"
Elowen stared up at Damon for a moment before willing herself to shake her head.
"No idea. We should tell Stefan. Maybe he can call Bonnie and ask her if there's anything wrong with the other side."
Something told Damon that something was up with her, but he nodded anyway.
"Yeah. On it."
Elowen nodded, then grabbed her clothes and pushed past Damon so she could leave the bathroom.
xxxx
Elowen was hiding out in her room, brushing out her still wet hair, when Damon entered. She looked up at him in the mirror, but averted her eyes.
"Can I talk to you?" Damon asked.
Elowen slowly set her brush down. "Uh, yeah, sure. What's up?"
Damon came into the room farther and sat on the edge of the bed. Elowen walked over and sat down next to him. Damon wet his lips and opened his mouth.
"In the beginning of our relationship, we promised that we would never lie to each other, and that we would always be honest. There have been a couple of times where I didn't do that, but I always eventually told you the truth. Maybe these rules don't apply to us now because we're not together anymore, but… I'd really like to consider us friends, and friends don't lie. You knew who attacked you in the bathroom. I could see it in your eyes, but you lied about it. Why?"
Elowen sighed, looking down at her hands. She briefly closed her eyes, making a split second decision that she was going to tell Damon the truth.
Sorry, Stefan.
She opened her eyes and looked up at Damon.
"I lied because of who it was that attacked me."
Damon frowned. "Well, who was it?"
Elowen swallowed. "Enzo."
Damon blinked. "What?"
"Enzo's dead, Damon. When he had his humanity off, he tried to kill Stefan, but I guess he thought it would be better revenge if it looked like Stefan killed him, so he used him to commit suicide."
"Stefan killed Enzo?"
Elowen nodded. "On accident. Stefan didn't mean to."
Damon stood up from the bed and started pacing around the room. Elowen watched him carefully. She opened her mouth.
"I saw it happen. I got there a second too late, but it wasn't Stefan's fault-"
"Why are you defending him?" Damon asked loudly, turning around to face her. Elowen flinched. "Because it's Stefan? Because he can't do anything wrong? Saint Stefan strikes again."
Elowen shook her head, standing up. "No! No, that's not it. It was self defense, Damon! I saw it with my own eyes! Enzo had gasoline and a lighter handy when he died. One plus one equals two. What else would he have done if Stefan hadn't done something? You would be out a brother, Damon, and as someone who lost their little brother, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Stefan did what he had to do. I'm sorry it had to turn out the way it did."
There was such a pained expression on Damon's face, and it made Elowen's heart clench.
"Fine," he whispered. "Then why didn't you just tell me?"
Elowen was quiet for a second before replying.
"I was scared that you would slip away again, that you would go do what the reason I broke up with you for in the first place. I can't do that again, Damon. If you did, then we couldn't be friends. You would be out of my life for good, and I don't want that. I still love you, and you still mean the world to me, and shutting the door on you would hurt me more than it would hurt you, I can promise you that. I still have hope that maybe we'll find our way back to each other, and that can't happen if you're gone. I'm sorry."
"Yeah. I'm sorry, too."
Damon took a step back and then turned to leave the room. Elowen let him go with a sigh, and came to sit on the edge of the bed again.
xxxx
Later, Stefan came to tell her that Luke was missing, and that Enzo was only using her as a distraction, which is how she found herself wandering through the woods with Elena and Caroline. Stefan and Damon had split up with them, even though Elowen thought that was a terrible idea.
"Luke?" Caroline called out. "Luke? Where are you?"
"Maybe Luke-" Elowen started to say, but stopped. "You're upset."
"I'm not upset. Just looking for Luke. You know, Luke, who was here to protect Elena and Stefan. Luke, who's now missing because you and Stefan lied about where Enzo was, and now the travelers can find us, do their spell, and wipe us all off the face of the earth!"
"I was worried that if Damon found out-"
"What, he'd flip out and spiral and kill a bunch of innocent people? Yeah, I get that. I, however, am not Damon, so the fact that you lied to me about it makes less sense."
"Elena's not mad I didn't tell her."
"That's because Elena knows that this is clearly between the three of you, and I don't want to be dragged into relationship drama that's not mine," Elena piped up. "Besides, we hate each other, remember?"
Elowen sighed. "Look, Caroline, you know that I love you, and that you're like the sister I never had, but the point of a secret is to not tell people so it stays a secret. If everyone is in on it, then it's not a secret anymore."
Caroline huffed. "Fine, I guess you're right, but that doesn't make me any less offended."
"Also, hey, what was up with earlier? The thing where you accused Stefan and I of being makeout buddies again."
Caroline grimaced. "I thought that maybe you two were secretly back together, and I was mad that you didn't tell me."
"So you thought to make never have I ever awkward instead of just asking me straight out? What are you, 12?"
Elena laughed, and Caroline reached over to punch her in the arm.
"Shut up! That is so not funny!"
Elena nodded. "No, it's a little funny, and very you."
Caroline whined, but answered Elowen anyway. "I'm sorry, okay? You're right, I should've just asked you."
"For the record, no, we're not back together," Elowen told her. "If we ever do date again, you'll be the first to know. I promise."
"I'm holding you to that."
Elowen and Caroline laughed. Elowen nodded ahead of them.
"Come on. Let's find Luke, and quick."
Elena and Caroline nodded in agreement, and the three of them set off further into the woods.
xxxx
"What'd you think I was gonna do?" Damon asked abruptly after him and Stefan had been walking in complete silence for awhile.
Stefan frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"When I found out Enzo was dead. Did you think I was gonna go on a rampage, slaughter a bunch of people, go bowling with humans heads? Because that's certainly what Elowen thought."
"Hate me," Stefan told him quietly. "I thought you would, uh, hate me."
Before Damon could reply, they both heard a noise coming from inside the firewood shed.
"You hear that?" Damon asked.
Stefan nodded. "Yeah. Come on."
They went inside the shed and found Luke tied up with his hands behind his back. Stefan went over to him and checked his pulse. He looked up at Damon.
"He's barely breathing."
"Why the hell would Enzo dump him here?" Damon questioned out loud.
Stefan shook his head. "I don't know."
The smell of gasoline hit Damon's nose, and he sniffed at the air.
"Smell that?"
Both of their eyes landed on an empty gallon of gasoline, but before they could react, the hanging lamp was ripped from its cord and shattered onto the ground, sparking a fire. Damon looked at Stefan.
"Grab him. Let's go."
Before Stefan could untie Luke, Enzo quickly stabbed Stefan through the stomach with a long wooden stick, sending Stefan onto the ground with a groan.
"Dick move, Enzo," Damon said out loud, before he was suddenly pinned against the wall with a large chunk of wood. "If only this wasn't totally unavoidable," he told Stefan through gritted teeth.
Stefan looked up at Damon. "Oh, really? Now you're doing I told you so?"
"This isn't gonna stop, Stefan. I killed his girl, you killed him. This is not gonna stop."
Suddenly, the fire started to diminish to where only a few pieces were smoldering and smoking. Enzo looked over his shoulder and saw Josiah standing in the middle of the room, holding his hands out in front of him as he used his powers to stop the flames. Since ghosts on the other side were now able to touch things, he figured that if he concentrated enough, he could use his powers. Turned out that he was right. Enzo rolled his eyes.
"Oh, not you again. You're ruining all the fun, mate."
Josiah glanced over at Enzo. "It's either stop me and burn this place to the ground, or keep Damon occupied so he can't help Stefan. Your choice."
Stefan, while still trying to pull the piece of wood out of his abdomen, looked around the shed.
"Josiah? Is that you?"
Josiah looked over at Stefan with a grin. "I've got you, Stef. Don't worry."
"You listening to me, Enzo?" Damon called out loudly, then yelled the next second as the wood against his stomach was pushed harder against him. "Is that a yes or a no? Because I can bring you back. Bonnie came back, Markos came back. I'll find a way, but this has to stop. How do you think you're able to do all this stuff, huh? The other side's falling apart, Enzo, so you can either help me, or you can blink out of existence. It's your choice."
Stefan was finally able to get the wood out of his abdomen with a gasp. Damon looked down at him.
"Go on, Stefan. Get Luke out of here. He's the only one that can hide you and Elena."
Stefan hesitated for a moment.
"Stefan! Go, now! Josiah's here to hold the fire back. I'll be fine."
Stefan nodded and started untying Luke before helping him stand up. He helped him outside just as Enzo released Damon.
"Don't let me down again."
Once Damon was safely out of the shed, Josiah let his powers go and the shed immediately went up in flames again. He looked over at Enzo.
"Remind me to kill you again when Damon somehow miraculously brings you back."
Enzo nodded. "Will do, mate."
xxxx
Elowen carefully walked out of the cabin and over to the car, where Damon was putting things inside the trunk.
"Hey," she said softly when she approached him.
Damon glanced over his shoulder. "Hey. We're leaving. Pack your stuff."
"I will. I just came out to see how you're doing."
"I'm in a hurry. You should be, too. The travelers can find us."
Elowen scoffed. "Fine. Don't talk to me."
"There's nothing to talk about."
"Bullshit. I lied to you about your best friend being dead. That sounds like something worth talking about."
"I don't really care that you lied."
Elowen frowned. "Then why are you being a dick?"
Damon finally stopped what he was doing and turned around to face her.
"Because you were right, Wen. You wanted to protect me so I wouldn't spiral, because if I spiraled, then it would prove your point and further solidify why you broke up with me being justified, but I didn't spiral. Despite every nerve in my body wanting to break something or hurt someone or do all the wrong things for all the right reasons, I'm holding it together the best I can, for you, because I'm also holding out hope that we'll find our way back to each other, and that can't happen when I'm out gallivanting as a serial killer."
"So… that's why you're mad. You're not mad at me specifically, you're just upset about knowing your ex girlfriend had a valid point that ended up being correct. And for the record, you did hurt someone. You punched Stefan in the face not even five minutes ago."
"Hey, don't get all judgy on me for that one. He had it coming."
Elowen sighed dramatically, shaking her head. "You just wanted an excuse to punch your brother. You two need to learn to play nice sometimes."
"We played nice when it came to you."
"Yeah, but I'm not in the equation anymore."
"Sure you are, just not romantically. You'll always be apart of the equation, Wen."
Elena came outside at that moment with some of her bags. She walked over to the car and started putting them inside. Elowen pointed at her things.
"I'm gonna go pack. We're sort of on the run."
Damon nodded. "Good idea. Let's go."
They both turned and went back into the cabin, leaving Elena outside alone. The second they were gone, Elena grabbed her head in pain, groaning as she was brought down to her knees. The travelers appeared out of the woods and closed in on her just as Markos stepped forward and grabbed her. The next second, all she saw was black.
