Dr. Nokano led Rosalina over to the gravestones of Diddy and Waluigi.
"Here they are. You have your pack with you too, so...I suppose I shall leave you be," Dr. Nokano said respectfully and began to wander back, but then stopped and turned back around. "Rosalina...that's your name, right? How are you going to get to this Fort Koopington place?"
"I'll just use my magic to transport myself there. If I hadn't ever been there before, I would've had to walk because that magic only works if I've crossed through there at least once in the past…" Rosalina responded, keeping her eyes fixed on the gravestones the entire time.
"Okay. I just wanted to be sure because I would hate for you to walk all the way there. Anyways...the one on the left is Diddy Kong's, and the one on the right is Waluigi's. And, Rosalina...I know we barely know each other, but I can tell you have a big, caring, and giving heart. Don't ever let anyone tell you different. I know this because, based on what I've heard about you, you remind me of my daughter, Lola. Such a sweet and vibrant lady, but liked to put up a front sometimes," Dr. Nokano reminisced a little.
"Oh! Um, thank you. Is your daughter here with the rest of us too?" Rosalina asked.
"No. I'm afraid she passed away around this time two years ago. She was killed in a horrible drive-by shooting in downtown. It caused terrible friction between my wife and I to where we ended up divorcing. Lola was in the wrong place at the wrong time and...well...I try to keep myself as busy as possible because if I don't...I cry until I can't cry anymore. It's not fair at all...but I have to accept that this is how the world is sometimes, no matter how much we hate it or want to change it," he said as he choked up a bit.
"My god, I am so sorry to hear that! Having to deal with your daughter's death and a divorce...that is hell right there…" Rosalina exclaimed and shook her head.
"I agree, it is hell. But, this world also has some heaven mixed in as well. It's up to us to find that piece of heaven and utilize it for what's best for us and the people we love," Dr. Nokano stated firmly and began walking back again to the hospital.
Rosalina looked back to the gravestones and made a deep sigh. She began to cry a little.
"Diddy...I'm so sorry for what I did to you. I caused your death...and now I must pay the consequences for that. It's only fair that I do," she said, looking at his gravestone, then turning to Waluigi's.
"Waluigi...honey...I know we actually weren't together for a long period of time...but it did feel like forever. I fell for you so quickly and deeply that...all I wanted was just to be with you. Always. It felt so right to be with you. But, when that man took you away from me, I lost myself. I was so angry that I just lost control of who I really was and hurt all the people I love. I even hurt your brother so bad...and I am so sorry for that. I'm sorry that I went down that path and let rage and the dark magics take ahold of me. That's not who I am and that's never who I will be.
I love you, Waluigi. I'll always miss you and cherish the time we had together. Thank you so much for showing me how to love and be open to love. I'll never forget it."
The group ran to the front entrance upon hearing all the commotion and the shrieks from the people who witnessed the sudden and scary event. They saw the koopalings out in the parking lot, clearly freaking out.
"HEY! What the hell just happened here!?" Mario asked.
"Our dad fucking lost it and ran off! I can't believe this shit is happening AGAIN!" Morton angrily yelled.
"What!? So...WHY did he 'lose it' then? What happened right before this?" Goombario asked.
"Our mother, Clawdia, is here. She came in with Professor E. Gadd's group last night," Iggy revealed. Expressions of surprise and confusion were across everyone's faces.
"WOAH WOAH WOAH WHAT!? You guys have a mother!? Well, I mean, of course you would because how else would you all exist, but...what in the actual fuck!?" Boshi shrilled.
"Oh my...she's the one who ruined Bowser's life. I can't believe she's here!" Peach whispered to herself.
"Uhh, okay, so why would Bowser's wife make him meltdown like that then? What are we missing here?" Goombella questioned further.
"Long story short, Clawdia cheated on our dad and kept it secret for years that she fell out of love with him. Right after she admitted that, she ran away and none of us ever saw her again and she left dad completely broken. Now, Bowser Jr. found her and wanted us to meet her, so we did, but dad...I think seeing Clawdia brought back all those memories and feelings of being hurt, so he snapped and ran off!" Lemmy explained.
"Goddamn, and I thought MY family was messed up!" Lakilester obnoxiously commented.
"Great. So, now we have to chase after him AGAIN? Fuck! This crap never ends, does it?" Bombette tiredly grunted.
"Which way did Bowser go?" Mario asked, stepping further out into the lot.
"Th...that way...to the left…" Bowser Jr. said as he controlled his crying.
"Okay. Yoshi, you're coming with me. You're quick on your feet, so the search won't take as long. Everyone else, continue searching for Fire Bro!" Mario ordered. Yoshi jumped a little and looked to Birdo.
"Oh! Um...alright, I guess? Birdo, you okay being here by yourself? Don't be afraid to say no!" Yoshi said.
"I think I'll be fine. Go with Mario to find, uhh, Browser, right? He needs our help. Don't worry about me," Birdo insisted. Yoshi nodded, then gave her a kiss, with Birdo barely kissing back.
"It's actually Bowser without the R after the B, but okay! I'll see you later, my love!" Yoshi cheered and ran to Mario, not paying note to her hesitancy.
"Wait, you don't want some of us to go with you two? Wouldn't that be a little easier?" Pauline asked.
"No. Those Koopatrols we talked about earlier could still be out there and the less of us in danger from them, the better. We'll be quick about this. Now go! I'll see you all later WITH Bowser," Mario said as he got onto Yoshi.
The others nodded along with Peach, Daisy, and Luigi waving him goodbye, with Peach also blowing him a kiss. Yoshi ran off into the streets with Mario in tow and everyone else filtered back into the hospital to begin the search for Fire Bro, but the Koopalings were left back in the parking lot.
"God...I can't believe dad just did that...left us again. How could he after the last time!?" Wendy cried.
"Yeah! This is literally considered child neglect here!" Ludwig exclaimed.
"I'm actually more pissed off at Junior here. Just what the hell were you thinking by doing this!?" Morton yelled, making the poor kid feel way worse than he already was.
"Hey, Morton, lay off of him! Just let it go!" Larry came for his defense.
"No, I'm not gonna let it go! That bitch ruined dad's life, and Junior just decides to invite her back in to OUR lives without even thinking of the repercussions! I know I give dad a lot of shit for his actions, but I actually can't blame him for acting the way he did this time!" Morton continued the lay down onto his poor brother. Bowser Jr. looked away from everyone in shame and embarrassment and started crying again.
"Oh, just shut up, Morton! I can understand dad being pissed off about Clawdia being here, but to fucking run away and abandon us AGAIN!? Yeah, dad has a horrible habit of being impulsive and only thinking about himself!" Wendy tried to deflect Morton's anger away from Bowser Jr. and towards their father acting on pure rage, impulse, and irrationality.
Larry couldn't help but laugh a little at Morton. "HA! Are you kidding me right now? You're really gonna stand there and tell me that what dad just did was JUSTIFIED!? Come on Morton, don't be dumb! If dad ends up dying out there, we'll be stuck without ANY guidance! Besides Roy, you're the oldest one here, but you're just barely an adult! You wouldn't know how to take care of us! Child Protective Services would come and take away Wendy, Lemmy, Iggy, and Junior since they're all under 18, if you prove unfit to take care of them!"
"Oh god, I don't want that to happen! I've heard the horror stories of kids being taken into foster care!" Lemmy cried.
Morton got a little red in the face and scoffed a little. "Jumping to conclusions much!? Dad knows how to take care of himself! He'll be fine, just like last time! And, no, I'm NOT saying it was justified, I'm saying that I get why dad did what he did. Seriously, what the fuck were you guys expecting to happen!? For dad to just happily reunite with mom and we'd all get along peacefully!? FUCK NO! She ruined EVERYTHING! I was only a little kid when all that shit went down but I still remember EVERYTHING!"
"And I also never said that it'd be all peace and love and happiness between them! But, there comes a time when you learn to control your fucking emotions instead of leaving your kids left for dead!" Larry yelled, stepping closer to Morton and getting angrier.
"You know what? Just stop talking because you clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about. Until you've experienced the shit that dad did, then I suggest you quit talking out of your ass for once in your life!" Morton spat. This made Larry unbelievably pissed off now.
"Talking out of my ass!? Are you fucking serious right now!? GOD! NO WONDER WHY ROY WANTED TO KILL HIMSELF, IT'S A FUCKING NIGHTMARE HAVING YOU AS A BROTHER SOMETIMES!" he exploded. That did it for Morton. He shoved Larry to the ground and started punching him a few times but Lemmy and Iggy pulled Morton away while Wendy screamed and pleaded for the fighting to stop.
"Agh...you bastard…" Larry grumbled, spitting out blood as he held his jaw in pain while Ludwig helped him stand up.
"That's it, Larry. I have fucking had it. After all this shit with Tatanga is over with, we're all going our separate ways, because clearly, we can't even function as a stable family anymore!" Morton declared, providing great surprise to everyone else besides Larry.
"You know what? That's fine by me! I'd rather have us all be separated than deal with this shit over and over again! Maybe Roy was right about wanting to leave when he was still around. This family is screwed up!" Larry concurred, still pumped by anger and disdain for his own brother.
"Yeah, I agree. Our family IS screwed up. Look at who raised us!" Morton added then walked off with Iggy and Ludwig following behind. Lemmy looked at the three that just left, then back at Larry and Wendy, then back at the three.
"Are you going with them, Lem? Are you on their side?" Larry asked.
"I...I don't know. I don't wanna pick a side! Do I have to!?" he cried.
"Sure seems like it considering I didn't hear any objections to Morton saying that we should all separate. One side is staying at the castle, and the other side is leaving to live somewhere else. My guess is they're the ones who will leave the castle," Larry shrugged and frustratedly sighed with watery eyes.
"But, Larry, did you really have to go that far with the Roy thing? You know, the part where he wanted to commit suicide?" Wendy asked, not pleased with his choice of words.
"Probably not, but Morton REALLY knows how to piss someone off and get under their skin. He did it with Roy which made him want to kill himself, and now he's trying to do it again. I can't trust him ever again now," Larry coldly stated.
"Hey...where did Junior go? I thought he was still here this whole time!" Lemmy pointed out. The other two gasped when they saw that Bowser Jr. had indeed vanished, but to where?
"BOWSER JR, STOP! Why aren't you listening to me!?" Toadette screamed, chasing the poor kid all the way up to the rooftop. He was sitting near the edge.
"LEAVE ME ALONE! PLEASE! I JUST...I RUINED EVERYTHING! I MADE MY DAD GO AWAY! EVERYONE HATES ME NOW! JUST PLEASE GO!" Bowser Jr. screamed while crying into his lap.
"Don't say that, that's not true! You were doing what you thought was right! I'm sure your family will come around to seeing that!" Toadette said, trying to lift his broken spirits while stepping closer to him.
"No...it's over, Toadette...if dad dies out there...it's all my fault...everyone would hate me even more and want me out of their lives…" Bowser Jr. spoke with such hopelessness that it crushed Toadette inside, making her cry a little now.
"I-It's not over, Bowser Jr…never. I know how much pain you're in because I've been there too! Actually, I might still be there, but, I try not to let it take over me now! You still have some amazing friends here to support you, always...even if it comes to that point of your family hating you...you still have people who care about you so much…" Toadette said, sitting down next to Bowser Jr., and held his hand. Bowser Jr. felt the touch of her soft and warm skin, and looked to her. Some calmness came over Bowser Jr., making him slowly stop crying.
"Th-th-thank you. That means a lot to me. I-I'm so happy that...that I met you," Bowser Jr. admitted, which warmed Toadette's heart.
"I'm happy I met you too! But, hey, I promise it's all gonna be okay somehow, okay? Once your family has calmed down and really think things through, they'll come around to you. They're just emotional right now because of your dad," Toadette rationalized the situation for him, making him feel a little more better.
"R-right...that makes sense. Thanks. You're a great help," Bowser Jr. made a little smile through his distress. Toadette smiled back. The two then slowly leaned into each other and then kissed. It was a moment that just felt right and safe to do for the both of them, creating a nice little spark of blissful energy that made them both feel even calmer and feel more connected to each other.
"HELP MEEEEEE!" Dixie screamed as she was frantically running back into the hospital from the courtyard.
"Dixie!?" Tiny shrieked, hearing her sister's desperate calls for help in the hallway she was in. She ran towards the direction she thought she heard her, and then saw Dixie crying and panicking uncontrollably, running right to her.
"WOAH! DIXIE! WHAT'S WRONG!? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?" Tiny screamed in fright, holding her sister as she cried into her shoulders and caught the attention of other people nearby.
"Oh god, Tiny! I-It was Fire Bro! He told me EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM WAS A FUCKING LIE!" Dixie shrilled.
"WHAT THE HELL!? What do you mean by that exactly, sis!? That he's an imposter!?" Tiny tried to make sense of this.
DK and some of the others from the main group came running up to the pair.
"Hey, what's going on here!? Are you hurt, Dixie!?" DK asked.
"No no! It was Fire Bro! He tricked me into coming out there a-and he told me all about how he killed Kazooie, that his real name is Konnor and he's Kooper's brother, and just a whole bunch of other stuff that I can't remember right now!" Dixie frantically cried.
"THAT WAS HIM THAT DID THAT!? That son of a bitch! Where the hell is he!?" Jojora angrily yelled.
"Outside...he was in the trees...he needs to be stopped before he does something!" Dixie pleaded. DK then immediately sprinted out to the courtyard, hellbent on preventing that bastard from doing anything else that could hurt or screw up the group's mission.
"DK, wait! You shouldn't go out all by yourself!" Bleck shouted, following the raging ape along with Tippi.
"Dixie, sweetie, I need you to tell us EVERYTHING that Fire Bro told you, okay? It'll help us a lot," Daisy said calmly so Dixie could collect her thoughts.
DK reached the woods and climbed up into the first tree closest to him. He got onto one of the branches and scouted the vicinity.
"FIRE BRO! KONNOR! SHOW YOURSELF, YOU COWARD! WE FOUND YOU OUT AND YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!" DK roared. He didn't see any sign of him though.
"I don't see him at all from down here…" Bleck said right below the tree DK was on. "That man is smart and sneaky. He knows we're all onto him. A man like that is just as dangerous as Tatanga."
"That also means that everyone in the hospital is in danger! Who knows what he could do now!?" Tippi added.
DK jumped back down to the ground. "He couldn't have gone far so quickly without anyone seeing him, unless he's somehow as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog. Let's head back to the hospital and ask around. The second we find him, his little game is over."
"Has anyone seen a Fire Brother around here!? Or, a male koopa who seems panicky?" Pauline shouted as she walked the second floor hallway with Wario and Mona. She was receiving constant head shaking from the people around her along with some 'no's.
"Well, uhh, if you've seen a Fire Brother, please be aware of him! He is considered dangerous and probably armed!" Wario announced, which frightened everyone around them a little.
"Why is he considered dangerous? What did this Fire Brother do?" Toodles asked, approaching the three.
"He killed one of our friends, and has done a whole bunch of other shady stuff such as being involved with Tatanga and lying about who he really is!" Mona informed.
"Oh no! Does this mean we're gonna get shot up again like last time!?" Toady McToaderson Jr. cried, overhearing what was being said.
"No no, we got it handled! Don't worry about a thing. Us and our friends are on top of it, there's no way he's gonna pull off anything while we're all in here, spread out looking for him!" Mona assured the little boy who seemed almost petrified.
"Y-You promise? No one is going to die?" Toady asked.
"I promise! Now, go along and find your parents! They'll protect you in case the Fire Brother is around!" Mona ordered. Toady nodded and ran off.
"So...maybe it wasn't the best idea to mention Fire Bro murdering someone, because that's gonna make people even more paranoid," Pauline suggested, noting the worried looks and banter from the people near them.
"Yeah, but I said it like that so people know for sure he's up to no good and that he needs to be stopped," Mona said.
"Dad, you heard that, right? There's some maniac on the loose here! We should find mom right now," Katia said, tugging on her dad's arm.
"I heard it, I'm not deaf," Kenneth rudely replied. "And I'm willing to bet that that 'maniac' is probably one of Bowser's workers or slaves or whatever the hell you wanna call them. I'm surprised everyone is okay with that beast being here considering what he's done to the kingdom over the years. No wonder why Clawdia wanted to leave him."
"I'm sorry, dad…" Katia lowered her head, her feelings a little hurt by how he responded. "But, I heard that Bowser is actually helping Mario and his friends deal with Tatanga! That's probably why everyone here is okay with him being here."
"Hmph. Sure. As soon as Tatanga is done with, Bowser and Mario will go back to being enemies and that idiot koopa will go back to terrorizing the kingdom because that's the only thing he does in his spare time! You're a fool if you believe otherwise!" Kenneth spat, pissing off his daughter now.
"Dad...don't start with me. Please don't. After everything we've been through with losing our house! Would it kill you to at least PRETEND to be nice in this place?" Katia pleaded, but it only pissed off her dad as well.
"Or what!? What are you gonna do if I DO 'start' with you!? Huh!? You better keep that big mouth of yours shut, otherwise I will shut your ass down in front of EVERYONE here if I have to!" Kenneth angrily raised his voice, grabbing her daughter's left wrist forcefully.
"D-Dad! Please stop it, you're hurting me!" Katia cried.
"HEY!" Mona shouted, quickly walking up to the scene. "Is there a problem here!?"
Kenneth let go of her wrist and gave Mona a dirty look. "No, of course not. Just my daughter having a bit of a smart mouth."
"Mmmhmm," Mona crossed her arms, giving a dirty look right back at him, not believing him. "Well, let's keep the trouble around here to a minimum, please. We're dealing with a troublemaker ourselves, so, best not to add anymore problems to our hands."
"There's no problem here, really! He's right, I WAS having a smart mouth and starting crap with him. I'm sorry for that," Katia guiltily said with a saddened look.
"It's okay. Just, like I said, keep the trouble and drama here to a low, if you can. I know it's hard because of everything that's been happening, but we've got a great support system here for you guys," Mona stated, still not buying each of their words.
"Good to know. We'll be seeing you around. C'mon, Katia," Kenneth spoke with a hint of dry sarcasm and attitude, and began walking away. Katia rolled her eyes and followed him, but quickly turned to Mona.
"It's really for the best if you just mind your own business when you're around us," she whispered to her. Mona looked at her in offense, since she was just trying to help out.
"Wow. Father of the year right there!" Wario spat.
"That was weird. We should keep a watch on that creep. I didn't get good vibes from that at all!" Pauline commented.
"Oh? You guys really don't know who they are?" Toodles asked.
"Uhh, no? Are we supposed to?" Mona retorted in confusion.
"Ha! Ooh, then this should be very interesting then. So, I'm sure you all know that Professor E. Gadd person, right?" she asked with a smirk that made the other three a little concerned.
"Yeah, we do. What about him?" Wario asked.
"Well, I came in with his strange group of people last night, and in that group was those two who you just saw, along with that man's wife, whose name is Clawdia," Toodles revealed.
"Clawdia...wait...as in the same person Lemmy just talked about outside? Bowser's ex-wife!? THAT'S that man's wife now!?" Mona shrieked.
"Yep! God, all those crazy stories they told us when we were heading here, and those three were fighting most of the time as well! It's times like this where I'm glad I don't have kids. Zero patience for that kind of stuff," Toodles merrily laughed.
"Wow! You know, I'm kinda curious to meet this Clawdia chick now. Apparently, she ruined Bowser's life and now she's somewhere here in this hospital...which caused Bowser to have a mental breakdown and run away. Geez. Wonder if there are any more surprises waiting for us along the way?" Pauline said with a tired chuckle.
"I'd rather not meet her anytime soon. I don't wanna be roped into any more family drama, especially now with some psychotic freak on the loose!" Wario objected.
"Well...whatever you guys choose to do, just be careful around those three. They are quite the chaotic bunch! It's always interesting to see how the lower class folks fight with each other," Toodles obnoxiously said with another conceited laugh then walked off.
Birdo was aimlessly walking around the first floor, feeling helpless about searching for this Fire Bro that she probably wouldn't recognize right off the bat anyways.
"Ugh...I don't even think this guy is in the hospital...not many places you can hide out with this many people in it," Birdo said to herself with a sigh.
"BIRDO!" Boshi shouted from behind her, startling her and made her turn around. "I think I found a clue for Fire Bro. Come check it out with me!"
"Oh! Um, okay?" Birdo replied, a little weirded out by his eagerness. Boshi ran down toward the end of the hallway by a stairwell, which was noticeably less crowded than everywhere else on the floor. Birdo wasn't sure what kind of clue he had found, but this was making her a little nervous. Boshi opened a door and went inside, and then Birdo followed right after. It was a large supply closet.
"Okay? I'm here. Where's the clue?" she asked.
"I'll be honest...I lied to get you alone with me. I really wanna talk with you privately, Birdo," Boshi stated.
"What!? Why does it have to be privately!? Why can't it just be somewhere else that is, you know, NOT creepy and weird?" Birdo shrieked.
"Well, uhh, I don't know! I guess I just like not having any distractions! Anyways, I'll get to the point here. I really can't stop thinking about you, and us being together in the past, you know, like how I told you earlier? I wanna know what you think about that. Be honest," Boshi said in a demanding manner.
"Ugh, seriously!? WHY do we have to have this conversation now!?" Birdo groaned while rolling her eyes.
"Because, I can't focus on anything else until I know what you think of me! Of us! Call me obsessed if you want, but I still have feelings for you! I was the one who even brought you in to the hospital to get treated after that man attacked you! NOT YOSHI!" Boshi erratically said.
"Boshi...I just...I don't know, okay!? This is all still new to me, remember!? You guys threw so much information at me at once and I just need more time to process it all, okay!?" Birdo said in a way to get him to calm down a little, and it surprisingly worked as he took a long pause and took in a deep breath.
"Okay. Fair enough. Can I at least kiss you? It's so hard to just be here with you and not even touch you, you know…" Boshi said in a saddened tone. Birdo was surprised to hear him say something so bold and unexpected.
"What the!? Boshi...I don't think that's a good idea…" Birdo nervously responded.
"Why wouldn't it be? We were in love once. And I just can't stand the fact that this is my only chance at getting you back with me, because we belong together! We had our whole lives planned out! It's so fucking unfair that Yoshi is trying to take you away from me AGAIN!" Boshi cried, pulling at his skin on his head.
"PLEASE, JUST CALM DOWN!" Birdo yelled, wanting to both run away and console him at the same time. "Boshi...this is gonna cause a lot of trouble between us and our friends...we'd both regret this…"
Boshi chuckled a little and stepped forward to her, putting his hand on her shoulder. "It only seems that way now...but don't worry, Birdo. I'll handle everything that comes our way. Just like before. It'll be just fine! I promise you!"
Birdo felt her heart race a little. She actually kind of liked his touch on her. It also helped that she secretly did find him quite attractive. And she admired how passionate he was about her. And upfront about things. Okay, Birdo was definitely feeling a great attraction to him, but debated in her mind if it was morally or ethically the right choice to make. Everything that she knows now about her past is only based off of the information that everyone else has told her. How really accurate was all that info though, to her?
"Birdo? What are you thinking about?" Boshi asked, noting her silence.
"Uhh...okay. You know...I just thought of something. What if...we DID kiss, and it would bring back or trigger a memory of mine from before? Like, being with you? Do you get what I'm saying?" Birdo asked. Boshi smiled in glee at the thought of finally kissing her.
"Yes, that makes total sense! We should do it! But, wait, you've kissed Yoshi a few times, right? You don't remember anything related to him when you guys kissed?" Boshi questioned.
"No, I don't...but then again, I barely kiss him back. Maybe if I try it for real this time, it'll work?" Birdo said with genuine curiosity and a hint of excitement.
"Mmm! I guess there's only one way to find out, huh? Alright…" Boshi made a big grin and his cheeks became red. The two leaned their heads towards each other and kissed for a few seconds.
Birdo felt the spark and rush of dopamine flow through her body. It was so overwhelming that she pulled away and shrieked a little. Boshi laughed at her.
"Oh! Well? Anything there?" he asked.
Birdo laughed a little too, feeling an even more intense attraction to him now. "I...I don't think so. We should try again, don't you think?"
"Oh, definitely!" Boshi said in both mischief and excitement. They kissed again and after a short while, they both got onto the floor and began fully making out and were all over each other completely.
Tadano came upon the street where the hospital was located. He smiled and laughed a little in relief after finally coming back to his safe haven. He ran to the parking lot, up the walking ramp, and into the doorway. He was a little caught off guard by the doors not being there, which made him think something happened while he was gone.
He entered into the main hallway. He noticed the usual dirty and uncomfortable looks some people around him were giving him, but tried to brush it off as them still trying to separate Tatanga from him.
"THERE YOU ARE!" Toadiko yelled from the lobby, running over to him with Bleck and Tippi right behind her.
"Oh, hey you guys! So, I need to-"
"Are you okay? We haven't been able to find you anywhere after the whole Rosalina stuff happened!" Tippi exclaimed.
"The Rosalina stuff? The heck are you talking about!? Did something huge happen while I was gone!?" Tadano asked in fear, nearly confirming his suspicions.
"Let's find a quieter place to talk, Tadano. Follow me," Bleck stated and led the way. Tadano became nervous, fearing the worst for what he had missed. He also feared telling them about Mimi because he had no idea how they would react to the awful news.
They ended up at a small conference room. As soon as they all got in, the door slammed shut and was locked. Tadano jumped and yelped at this sudden noise and turned around to see that it was Koopie Koo who did the deed. She blocked the door and glared him down.
"WOAH! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!? YOU GUYS!?" he cried and started panicking.
"Where is Mimi, and where the hell did you both go!? And you better answer us truthfully!" Toadiko shouted in his face.
"Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait! Y-Y-You guys don't think I had anything to do with that, did you!? DID YOU!? I DIDN'T EVEN WANT HER TO COME WITH ME BUT SHE INSISTED!" Tadano yelled, backing up against the wall, and having a huge wave of anxiety come over him.
"Come with you where!? Where did you two go, and why did only you come back!?" Bleck demanded to know.
"W-W-WE WENT TO THAT TELEPORTER IN THAT CASTLE HE CAPTURED YOU ALL IN AT FIRST! IT TRANSPORTED US TO HIS ISLAND! MIMI WANTED TO GO TO SEE IF SHE CAN GET ROY BACK, BUT THEY CAPTURED HER AND SHE TOLD ME TO SAVE MYSELF!" Tadano screamed with his body shaking in terror. "S-S-So I did! I used the transported to go back, and when I realized it was getting dark, I just spent the night in the castle cause I didn't wanna walk back in the dark!"
Tippi screamed. "OH NO! I can't believe she's there all by herself! Who knows what they're doing to her right now!?"
"Goddamnit...and to save Roy? That guy that killed Nastasia and Dry Bones AND joined Tatanga!? What the hell was Mimi thinking!? Is she in love with that fool!?" Bleck shouted, blindsided by Mimi's odd decision making.
"Fuck! Well...wait, why did YOU go then?" Toadiko asked.
"Because I...okay, PLEASE stop looking at me like you wanna kill me! I TRIED SAVING MIMI I REALLY DID BUT I WAS TOO LATE! OH GOD, I WAS LATE LATE LATE!" Tadano screamed and sobbed into his hands, falling to the floor.
"We're not going to kill you, just answer our question! WHY DID YOU GO SEE TATANGA?" Toadiko repeated, not affected at all by his breakdown.
"I...I JUST...OH GOD, I CAN'T BREATHE! PLEASE STEP BACK, YOU'RE OVERWHELMING ME!" Tadano started hyperventilating and tugged on his own chest.
"Quit being overdramatic and just tell us WHY you went there! You could've died or some of Tatanga's guys could've followed you back here and cause trouble for us!" Toadiko spat.
"Tadano...do you recognize me at all?" Koopie calmly asked, slowly walking over to him.
Tadano looked to her, his hyperventilating slowly fading away. "Uhhhh wh-what do you mean? I've seen you around here before!"
"No, I mean, from your past. When you were in that mental institution. Do you remember seeing me?" Koopie clarified.
Tadano looked even more confused now. "Do...I remember seeing you? N...wait a second...were you the one that I attacked? O-Or are you the daughter of that koopa nurse that I ki-...I-I mean that someone else killed there?"
"No, I'm not her daughter, but I AM the one you attacked when I visited you, thinking your brother was gonna be there. Tadano...the person that killed Kayla, the nurse...that was Kooper's brother, Konnor, who now identifies as Fire Bro. Konnor was with you in the Northern Chai Mental Institution. He's the one that blamed you for killing Kayla, who, by the way, was Koops' mom. He somehow escaped that institution and became a fire brother.
Fire Bro AKA Konnor was the one who pushed Kooper down the stairs and sent him into a coma. He schemed with Tatanga in the past and he may still be doing it now. And, according to Dixie from earlier...he killed Kazooie. He tried to toss out one of our gems back in one of the worlds we were in. He bashed our friend, Tails, in the head with a rock and put him in the hospital.
And now...that makes you a suspect in all of this. You two knew each other. You went to Tatanga's island despite us telling you it wasn't a good idea AND despite all the risks that could come with it, AND letting Mimi tag along!" Koopie explained the story to him.
Tadano looked like he had been shot in the heart. He was so shocked and horrified that he didn't move or even say anything for a whole minute.
"Fire...Bro…? Konnor…? The n-n-n-nurse…? The...The...The...AGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Tadano suddenly screamed in horror and made a run for the window, trying to jump through it. However, Bleck knocked him out with a magic spell.
"Is it weird that I feel a little sorry for him being tied into all this?" Tippi asked.
"Kind of. He's definitely done shady stuff before, no doubt about that. There's still so much about him that we need to figure out, not to mention the fact that the dude is clearly not mentally stable," Toadiko said.
"Let's take him down into the basement. He's gonna wake up to a nice surprise later on…" Bleck commanded.
Yoshi gradually slowed down his running, becoming tired from searching for the koopa king.
"Ah...where on earth could he be!? He isn't THAT fast so there's no way he could've gone far!" Yoshi said while panting. The desolate and trashed streets still showed not even a clue for Bowser's whereabouts.
"Yeah. I think we're about three blocks away from the hospital now. I don't wanna go too far either because I don't want us to get lost, and I don't want us to run in to those koopatrols," Mario said, looking everywhere possible constantly.
"Hey...over there! Look, that glass door is completely smashed through!" Yoshi pointed to a place named 'Westside Bar' a few stores ahead of them.
"Okay, let's be careful in checking it out. Those koopatrols could be hiding in there as well," Mario said prudently.
Yoshi walked on over to the bar and sneakily peaked in through the windows. There he was! Bowser was sitting against the corner of the bar, drinking what looked like vodka.
"IN THERE!" the dino shouted and ran on into the mostly trashed bar. Mario got off of Yoshi and they both walked to the koopa king. They noticed an empty bottle of vodka near him and he was drinking from a second bottle, indicating that he was at least tipsy.
"Fuuuuuck...no matter where I go...you're always there…" Bowser groaned tiredly.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how drunk are you? And if you say at least an 8, then we ain't taking you back yet!" Yoshi stated.
"3. Maybe 4. It might catch up to me and make me even more drunk because I downed that whole bottle pretty quickly…" Bowser admitted.
"God, Bowser! What the hell were you thinking!? Running away from your kids AGAIN!? Especially while there are Tatanga's guys roaming around out here!? Do you want them to be without a father!?" Mario laid into Bowser's horrible decision making.
"Oh, fuck off! Nobody asked you to come all the way over here and save me! NEITHER OF YOU!" Bowser yelled, pounding his fist into the floor, creating a loud thud.
"Oh, yeah, how DARE we try to find you, make sure you're safe, and get you back to your kids? Screw us for being kind and caring people, right Mario!?" Yoshi spat with full on sarcasm.
"Goddamnit, Bowser, just LISTEN! Get your ass up, get yourself together, and get back to the hospital with us! This isn't up for discussion. Your kids need you. WE need you. Whatever happened back there, just go back and face it like a man. You can't just run away from all your problems!" Mario angrily stated.
"GOD, BOTH OF YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHY THE FUCK I EVEN EXPLODED LIKE THAT FOR!? Clawdia and her perfect, stupid family are here! Clawdia, my ex-wife, who left me for another man! The same woman who left me alone with all my kids, who made me feel completely worthless and hopeless! HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DEAL WITH THAT!? TELL ME HOW BECAUSE YOU TWO CLEARLY KNOW IT ALL!" Bowser cried, throwing his vodka bottle across the room, feeling so lost once again. Mario and Yoshi could see he was in so much pain and felt helpless. The plumber knelt down to him and softened his manner of speaking.
"Bowser...I know it's not the ideal situation to have Clawdia and her family here. I know that must've brought back awful memories and feelings for you. I get why you'd be mad at that. But, you can't act on that kind of impulse. It creates all kinds of danger for you and your kids. You HAVE to face this and deal with the discomfort. Do it for your kids.
Now, I'm not saying that you should be friends with her, but, it seems to me that she wants to talk things through with you. And, if you're not ready for that yet, that's fine, but I think you need to make that known to her. They have every right to be there, and I imagine for her, knowing that you and your kids are there, she'd want to make her presence known and get things off her chest," he rationalized things for him, hoping it would get him to calm down.
Bowser made a deep sigh and shook his head. "Yeah...yeah, I...suppose you're right...but, I think what I'm most pissed off about now is taking my anger out on Junior. He's gonna blame himself for me running away...fuck. I don't know how I'm gonna face him and tell him how sorry I am. I hope he doesn't try to hurt himself like Roy did…"
"That's something you're also gonna have to face and accept, Bowser! And, hey, I kind of get it too. With Birdo losing her memories, and her being all uncomfortable and disoriented trying to adjust and understand everything that's happened and our relationship, it's hard! I don't even know what else I could say or do to help make her feel at ease, but I keep trying because I love her and I know that it's gotta come back for her. It did for Fox and his crew, so why not her?
All of it is rough. I remember thinking for just a second, that all hope is lost on Birdo and I being together again because of her memory being wiped. But, I didn't let that get to me because she is my soulmate! We've been through it all together, and I couldn't bear to ever let her go like that. And I think it's the same for you, Bowser. I get why you reacted like that, but it doesn't mean all hope is lost! You gotta go back there and reconnect with your kids. Don't ever leave them like that again because they will be lost and scared without you," Yoshi added with empathy.
Bowser made another deep sigh and nodded a little. "Okay. Okay. I know what I need to do now. I'm sorry that you guys got caught up in my mess yet again. I'm a fucking wreck. Seems like no matter what I do, I leave a mess for people to clean up after. It's getting so old."
Mario wanted to cosign on that statement, but held himself back because he didn't want Bowser to feel even worse about himself, and he'd feel like a jerk for doing so anyways. Mario still wasn't 100% fond of Bowser, but he could see why Bowser is acting the way he is now. So much of his past has been dug up during this adventure and out into the open for the whole world to know that he knew that Bowser had no idea how to properly handle it.
"Well, Bowser, we're allies now, aren't we? At least temporarily, so, that means we gotta look out for each other! Although, I'm not sure if I can ever forget you pounding in Mario's face back in Sonic's world, but...yeah, I can tell you wanna change!" Yoshi chuckled but meant for it to be serious.
"Yeah, I'm definitely NOT gonna forget that either, but I'll let it slide just this once because you were heavy in your emotions," Mario also chuckled but also cringing at that memory, but it didn't make him feel any negative emotions surprisingly.
"Yeah...I really am sorry for that. I'm such a fat bastard. Shiiiiit, is it night time already? How long have I been here?" Bowser began to slur his words, meaning the alcohol was taking a bigger effect on him.
"Oooookay, that's a sign that we need to go, like, now! Are you able to stand up?" Yoshi asked.
"Is the princess a stooltoad?" Bowser asked rhetorically. Mario and Yoshi looked at each other in confusion.
"Um, what the hell is a stooltoad?" Mario asked.
"...Hell if I know. What am I even saying anymore!? WHO CARES! Get me out of this place!" Bowser drunkenly spoke and stood himself up, almost falling over, but managed to balance himself. The three exited the bar and headed back to the hospital.
Fire Bro panted as he slowed his running. He had ran like his life depended on it from the woods all the way to the side of the hospital, into the parking lot. He felt sick to his stomach, from a combination of the vigorous running, spilling out all his private details to Dixie, and now being hunted from the gang. But, at the same time, he liked the chase. His thirst for chaos was growing more and more once again. The thrill of it all didn't make him want to run and hide completely.
But, first things first...he needed to vomit. All that adrenaline, running, and high emotions mixed in overwhelmed his body. He panted some more, then fell to the ground, and heaved a little.
"Hey you! You okay!?" Kallan shouted from near the entrance. He began rushing over to him.
Fire Bro groaned at this and pounded his fist on the ground. He didn't want to be caught at this moment. He had to think of something quick.
He turned his head back towards Kallan. "I'm...I'm okay...I just felt nauseous all of a sudden!"
Fire Bro noticed Kallan reached for something in his back pocket. "Here...let me help you back to the hospital. I need to ask you some questions anyways!"
Fire Bro turned his head away and looked for something close to him to attack him with. Bingo. A shard of glass. He put his hand over the glass as he slowly began to get up so as to not make it look obvious.
"Wh-what do you need to ask me about?" he asked, grasping the shard.
"We'll talk about it when we get into the hospital. It's very important that you-"
Kallan was cut off by Fire Bro quickly swinging around and stabbing him in the heart with the shard. Kallan let out a bloodcurdling scream but immediately reacted by zapping Fire Bro with his taser he took out from his back pocket. Fire Bro let out a scream himself then fell to the ground unconscious.
"Oooooh...FUCK! SON OF A…" Kallan cried, holding his heart area with one hand as he bled over his uniform and onto the ground. He mustered up the strength to grab Fire Bro, put his arm over his shoulders, and dragged him by his feet over to the hospital.
He managed to reach into the hospital, leaving a thin trail of blood behind him. Everyone around saw him and screamed in horror at the bloody sight.
Peach came running over, hearing the screams and being immediately prepared for the worst. She covered her mouth in disgust and terror at what she saw.
"OH MY GOD! WHAT HAPPENED!? DID HE DO THAT TO YOU!?" she shrilled.
"Y...yes...take him…" Kallan uttered through the pain, then collapsed to the floor with Fire Bro, prompting more horrific screams from the people.
"NO! QUICK, SOMEONE GET THAT MAN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, AND SOMEONE HELP ME BRING THIS FIRE BROTHER TO THE BASEMENT THIS INSTANT!" Peach demanded, feeling beyond angry and saddened that Fire Bro potentially killed another ally.
Goombario ran into Kooper's room, checking him closely to make sure that nothing was off with him and the room itself.
"Goombario!" Bombette shouted from the hallway, coming into the room with Parakarry, Bow, Lakilester, Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Spike, and Vivian. "Why did you run into here? Did you see Fire Bro!?"
"No...no. I just got this thought running through my head. Fire Bro is Kooper's brother, so I was just thinking that maybe he came in here and messed with Kooper's vitals or something like that…" Goombario said.
"Oh! Well, certainly wouldn't surprise me if he did. I just still struggle to believe it all, though...Fire Bro being the brother of Kooper, and also being a murderous lunatic...so many horrifying secrets are out in the open, and it just doesn't seem like it never stops now!" Flurrie exclaimed.
"At the root of it all, though, this is Tatanga's fault. Had Tatanga not done what he's doing right now, so many things that have happened wouldn't have happened. Our friends wouldn't have died, I wouldn't have gotten kidnapped and beaten up, Mushroom City wouldn't have been destroyed and now abandoned, we wouldn't be dealing with Fire Bro or Konnor or whatever we wanna call him now, and so many more things. He's ruined so many lives and doesn't even feel bad for it," Goombella harshly stated.
"They're both sociopaths. They're a match made in heaven! But, for real, it's good that we've caught him now, cause who knows else that bastard could've done if he stayed?" Lakilester pointed out.
"I also like to think that, if Tatanga wasn't going to destroy the world and seek help with it...maybe my sisters and I would still be trying to live a normal life. I wouldn't feel so alone and helpless…" Vivian said as she began to sob.
"You're not alone and helpless, Viv! You have us! WE are your family. Plus, the fact that they joined Tatanga just shows that they were looking for an excuse to raise hell again. If you ask me, I think your sisters going back to their old ways was inevitable and just a matter of time, even if Tatanga had never done his world domination plan!" Parakarry comforted her and gave her a side hug.
"I agree. What your sisters have done to you, Viv, is inexcusable, and it just shows that they don't care about you enough to want to commit to change. That's not the kind of 'family' you EVER wanna be a part of," Goombario stated.
"I just...I agree with you guys, but...I feel so stupid for still feeling upset over Marilyn's death...I feel like I shouldn't be feeling all these emotions, but I am!" Vivian sobbed more and into Parakarry's shoulders.
"What are all the emotions you're feeling right now, Viv? Tell us. Be honest about it. Let it out! Don't be afraid!" Spike demanded.
"Um...okay...I feel sad. Angry. Lost. Hurt. A little relieved. All those emotions are how I feel about Marilyn's death," Vivian replied.
"Good! Accept those emotions. Don't reject them just because your sister betrayed you. She's still your sister, and deep down, you still love her and care for her, otherwise, you wouldn't be feeling the way you do," Spike said, really wanting her to feel okay with not being okay.
"Y...Yes...that makes sense...thank you. All of you!" Vivian said while wiping her tears with a smile. Everyone came in for a group hug and some got a little emotional from it as well.
"I'm glad we're all together like this now. I know I've said and done some stupid things that you all had to see, but really...thank you all for still being there. I don't think I would've made it this far without all of your support," Koops added, sobbing just as much as Vivian now.
"Aww! So, does this mean you're back with us now? No more thinking that you're weak? Because you're not! I've heard about those flashy shell moves you've kicked enemies' asses with!" Bombette praised, prompting some laughs from the others.
Koops made a big smile with a little blush. "Yeah, I'm back. I'm not hiding away anymore. I was just being emotional and had to get stuff off my chest, which is why I said everything I needed to say to Rosalina earlier. I still feel hurt from what she said...and I even see her sometimes in my head, taunting me and attacking me...but I think I'll be okay. She can't hurt me anymore. She doesn't own me."
"Good. That's the kind of inspirational shit we all need!" Lakilester complimented, getting some more laughs in.
"Speaking of all this, guys...I have something to confess that I've been hiding from everyone," Goombario spoke nervously. Everyone looked to him with immediate concern. "I left home. I got tired of my family always favoring Goombaria over me, and never paying any attention to my accomplishments. Whenever I would bring this up, my parents would always shut me down by changing the subject or they say that I'm overreacting.
It was building up to the point where one day, I exploded at them and had a meltdown. My parents told me to shut up and go to my room for the rest of the day. So, I did. Then, I ended up packing whatever I could, and I left the house via my window and never looked back. I came to Mushroom City and stayed at a youth shelter and have been there till when Tatanga started to attack the city."
"Oh my god, Goombario! Why the hell didn't you call any of us!? We would've helped! You would've had an actual house to stay in!" Bow exclaimed.
Goombario shrugged and looked back at Kooper. "I didn't want to put any of my problems onto anyone else. I felt like I was a problem for my family, so I didn't want to make anyone else go through that as well."
"Goombario...come on. It's not at all a problem if you need our help. I'm really sorry to hear that, though. I guess that just proves that blood family isn't always reliable, huh?" Parakarry said.
"Yeah. Blood may be thicker than water, but it's the bond that always counts more in the end," Vivian added.
"I met your family before, and I'm actually kind of surprise they acted like that towards you! They didn't give off that kind of vibe when I visited them," Lakilester pointed out.
"They were just putting on a front to make themselves look good. That's all. Plus, the signs were all there when Mario wanted to save all those Star Spirits years ago. Why do you think my family let me go so easily to join Mario on a quest that they KNEW would be dangerous? I was a little kid back then. I mean...I wanted to go anyways, not just because I was a mega fan of Mario and wanted to help, but also as an excuse to get away from my family because even back then, I knew that they didn't care for me as much as they did for my sister," Goombario explained.
"Wow...some people just want to live in their own little world, don't they?" Goombella was baffled by his parents' behavior and shook her head.
"WOAH! KOOPER JUST MOVED!" Lakilester screamed.
"WHAT!?" some of them shouted and looked at Kooper. He was fidgeting a little and his heart rate was increasing on the monitor.
"Oh god, what's going on!? Is he coming to!?" Bow said in anticipation.
"NURSE! SOMEONE GET IN HERE NOW!" Flurrie yelled out into the hallway.
Kooper started fidgeting more and more, giving everyone else anxiety about what's going on with him.

"Konnor?"
Kooper entered his bedroom, hearing guitar noises from in there. He startled Konnor, who was sitting on Kooper's bed and nearly dropped his guitar.
"Oh! Kooper! Y-You're home early! I-I thought you were at your friend's house!" Konnor yelped in fright.
Kooper gave him a nasty look. "He canceled at the last minute because he was feeling sick. What the hell are you doing with my guitar!? Did you ask permission to use it!?"
"Well, n-no, but I just really wanted to play it and-"
Kooper snatched the guitar from Konnor and hit him in the arm. "What the hell is wrong with you!? Like I've told you before, DON'T GO INTO MY ROOM WITHOUT PERMISSION! Are you retarded or something!?"
"I-I'M NOT RETARDED! I just...I just really wanted to play y-"
"I don't give a fuck what you wanted! NOW GET OUT!" Kooper screamed in his face. Konnor got red in his face and began to walk out. Then, suddenly, Konnor swiftly turned around and pushed Kooper to the floor, dropping his guitar on his stomach. Kooper screamed with everything happening so fast and unexpectedly. Konnor grabbed the guitar and stood over Kooper.
"K...Konnor! Wh-what are you doing!? PUT THAT DOWN! STOP THIS!" Kooper became terrified at this point.
"Nighty night, brother. This is the last time I'll EVER deal with your bullshit! YOU MADE ME GO FUCKING INSANE! LOOK WHAT YOU DID! YOU CREATED A MONSTER! AND NOW YOU'RE GONNA DIE!" Konnor screamed, raising the guitar over his head.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! KONNOR!" Kooper screamed, his life flashing before his eyes as Konnor swung the guitar down. Kooper shut his eyes, bracing for the pain that will come and end him.
"AH!" Kooper screamed, opening his eyes again. He was in a hospital room surrounded by some of his friends.
"Wha...wha...Konnor...you all...what happened!?" Kooper hyperventilated a little, looking everywhere. All signs seemed to indicate that he was okay and that what he witnessed was just a nightmare.
"Oh my god! KOOPER, YOU'RE BACK!" Bow squealed in joy and everyone came and hugged him.
"Back!? Why am I in a hospital bed!? Guys…" Kooper was completely disoriented but still hugged everyone in return.
"Kooper, what was the last thing that you can remember!?" Goombella asked so Kooper can figure out his situation.
"The last thing I can remember? Uhh...hmm...I was in the stairwell...I was talking with Koops...I think I was also waiting for someone...I then felt a force in my back...wait! I fell down the stairs!? WAS I IN A COMA!? How long was I out for!?" Kooper deduced and felt horrified at the revelation.
"Yes, you were! You were out for a couple days. And, by the way, it was Fire Bro, or Konnor, that did that to you! He confirmed it to Dixie just earlier and we're now on the search for him!" Parakarry revealed. Kooper dropped his jaw. His suspicions were now confirmed.
"WHAT!? So, he really...my god! This is fucking insane, you guys!" he yelled.
"It really is. Not only that, but we found out that he killed Kazooie, knocked out Tails, tried to hide away the gem from Sonic's world, was Tatanga's ally at one point, and a crapload of so much more that you missed!" Lakilester exclaimed.
Kooper was in total awe and shock at what he was being told. He couldn't believe that that was his own brother doing all this crazy stuff. "HOLY...fuck. And a guy like that was with us the whole time...he knows everything about us and can easily tell all of it to Tatanga…"
"Despite all the tragedy surrounding your brother, you coming out of your coma is fantastic news! I shall let the others know!" Flurrie cheered and ran out the room.
"Okay...okay. Fuck! Alright, guys, so I need to know the full story of my brother and everything else that I missed. I know I just got back from a coma, but this really can't wait. So, what all happened between the time I got into a coma until now?" Kooper asked. Everyone looked at each other awkwardly and some of them even looked sad.
Kooper noticed this and it gave him another feeling of horror inside, not prepared for all the insane information that was going to be poured onto him.
"Oh my god...you guys, what the hell did I miss!?"
