"Question time,What if there existed a way to have whatever you want, would you take it no matter the cost?"
"Just think, what if there was a way to end the war with Grimm, end your punishment or even be rid of the gods?" asked Cobalt.
"That would be, convenient." said Qrow.
"Not just that, you would have a way to get back your dead loved ones and even be rid of conflict."
"How would that even be possible?"
"Can I play the clip?" asked Vermilion.
"Oh by all means do."
"MORTAL KOMBAT!"
"That's just barbaric." sneered Glynda.
"What's mortal combat?" asked Jaune.
"Mortal combat refers to a fight which results in the loser being killed. Like gladiatorial battles." explained Bartholomew.
Cobalt however felt the need to explain further. "Mortal kombat, with a k mind you, is much more than that. It's a type of interdimensional tournament or match that allows one to wager anything from a position of leadership to an entire dimension, which are known as realms."
"But someone has to die for it." said Ironwood.
"Exactly. It's like the Vytal festival but with more dying. But the rewards are worth it." said Vermilion.
"It has vague rules, but what we do know is that once it has been sanctioned it will always have a winner, no ties." added Cobalt.
"The champion will be given temporary immortality till the next tournament. "
"Killing someone before they accept is forbidden. "
"And lastly all weapons are allowed."
"How are these rules enforced is there like a governing body or committee." asked Pyrrha.
"Mortal Kombat is overseen by a pantheon of gods. And to break the rules is to incite their wrath." explained Cobalt.
"Just ask Adam and Watts." added Vermilion.
"So we'll be seeing one of these tournaments?" asked Ren.
"Heavens no, the last tournament was nearly thirty years." said Vermilion.
"Instead we will be seeing the effects of said tournament." added Cobalt . "See last tournament played out differently from the rest. This lead to a series of unforeseen events."
"Or in less words: a total clusterfuck."
Claps of thunder and a red bolt of lightning was seen striking a tower. The lightning kept repeatedly striking the same point on the tower.
"That's strange? I thought lightning never strikes the same place twice?" said Ruby.
"That's just a myth lightning can and will strike the same place more than." said Bartholomew.
"Okay, but why is this one red?" asked Weiss.
"Maybe it was summoned by something." said Nora.
"What makes you so sure?"
"Well in the last one Qrow used purple lightning and Nora can use pink lightning. " explained Ren.
It turned out the tower was a temple, the sky temple to be exact, created in the name of Raiden.
"Raiden? What's that mean?" asked Ruby.
"It means 'thunder and lightning'. It's a title given to the god of storms." said Cobalt.
"So a god is the one firing the bolts of lightning." said Yang.
"Which one of us is the Raiden?" asked an excited Nora. It had to be her right? who else would be a better pick?
"You'll see soon enough."
Screams were heard echoing from the temple. These screams came from a chamber beneath the temples where a pale skinned man dressed in regal armour adorned with emeralds hung from chains. Each time the lightning struck he was electrocuted.
"That's where the screams are coming from?" noted Jaune.
"Is that Raiden? He doesn't look like any of us." said Oscar.
"Maybe the pale rotting skin has something to do with that." noted Ren.
"No he's not Raiden."
"You-You should be thanking me, Raiden. Our battle changed you." said the man as he raised his head to face his tormentor. "For the better."
"He doesn't seem bothered by the fact he's being tortured." noted Ruby.
"The fact he's gloating shows he doesn't care." said Qrow.
"He has no reason to care, he is an immortal god after all."
"Wait your saying this bloodied and chained man is a god?" asked Pyrrha.
"I don't see anything majestic about him if anything I'm kinda disappointed." said Weiss.
"He's just had his power drained but he's still a god."
His torturer was revealed to be a tall man wearing green and armour gold armor resembling his without the jewels. Beneath the armour were green robes and a red also had a conical straw hat and red eyes. This was Ozpin the god of lightning.
"So Ozpin is the Raiden." said Ironwood.
"I bet you he's feeling smug right now." added Qrow. "I know I would if I found out I was a god."
"If he is then he isn't telling me." mumbled Oscar.
"Ozpin lives inside you, right?" asked Cobalt.
"Yeah?"
Vermillion popped up from his left side startling him."That won't do at all we need his reaction aswell."
"So you're going separate us?"
"No, we're not going to change what's been done." said Vermillion. "Of course we can just pull Ozpin from your time but that wouldn't be fun."
"Simple we can just pull a version of him from an alternate timeline."
"How about one where he and Oscar have already consummated their union." said Cobalt
That however confused Ruby."Wait isn't that for married couples?"
"Woah so your saying Oscar and Ozpin are married." said Nora.
"Ozpin; is that what's happening here?" Oscar asked nervously.
"I don't think he means consummate in that sort of way." Ozpin said from inside his mind.
"I meant a version of them who has become a single entity."
"That would be interesting." said the disembodied voice of Victor.
"Holy shit, I'd forgotten all about you." said Qrow."When did you even leave,"
"I never left, I was here the whole time."
"So you're invisible right now?" asked Nora.
"Not quite. I am all around you."
"You mean your the theater." said Weiss.
"Short answer: yes, I am. We're getting sidetracked, back to the matter at hand."
"You really going to bring another me."
"Dear child, I've already done that."
This confused everyone, there was a second Oscar? Where exactly was he. As they looked around the theater, Pyrrha was the first to notice. Oscar noticed her looking and followed he trail of vision.
Only to jump out off his seat with a surprised yelp. Next to him sat another slightly taller Oscar. They all silently looked at him till Yang broke the silence.
"Oscar, is that you?"
"Yes, at least I think I am." he said as he calmly looked himself over.
Oscar on the other was panicking. "This is really freaky, is anyone freaked out, cause I'm freaking out."
"Your really jumpy." said alternate Oscar. He then looked at his surroundings before asking. "Where am I?"
"You are in the Crimson theater. An alternate plain of existence. Here you'll see other universes."
"Huh, Neat." replied alternate Oscar.
"He's taking this alot better than I thought he would." said Qrow.
Ozpin raised his hands and fired streams of lightning from his palms."Be silent, Shinnok!" shouted in a thundering voice.
"His name is Shinnok, and he is the god of what exactly?" Glynda asked.
"The god of death, corruption, fear and evil." listed Cobalt.
"Oh and he is this universe's god of darkness." added Vermillion.
"Well this just got interesting." said alternate Oscar.
"Wow he's the god of a lot of stuff." said Nora.
"That's nothing, there is this one who is the God of storms, lightning, thunder, holy grounds, protection, strength, oak trees, hallowing and fertility." said Vermilion.
"Are you sure you weren't just saying the first thing that popped into your head?" said Ruby.
"No I wasn't."
"But some of those things have nothing in common." said Yang.
Ozpin sneered at Shinnok as he walked closer, he then grabbed him by his horned head gear and electrocuting him.
"You brought me here to watch a snuff tape?" asked alternate Oscar.
"What, No." said Cobalt.
"But that's what seems to be happening."
"It's not."
"But you wear my amulet." said Shinnok as he gestured towards the amulet around Ozpin's neck. " Finally, you embrace the truth the Elder gods deny. The truth I was cast out for speaking."
"The truth I embrace, Shinnok, is that mercy is wasted on those who Remnant." replied Ozpin.
"He sounds pissed." noted Yang.
"And he has every right to be." said Vermilion.
"He has also been corrupted by the amulet which has amplified his darker attributes."
"I will destroy our enemies before they destroy us." he then held one of the chains tightly. "Starting with you." he then yanks the chain pulling Shinnok to his feet."
"He really isn't taking anyone's shit." said Qrow.
Shinnok started chuckling before smug smile came upon his face. "How, Raiden? Not even you can kill an Elder God."
Ozpin responds by creating red blade of electricity. "There fates worse than death."
"Okay that is badass. Ozpin is badass." gushed Ruby.
"Why thank you Ruby, your not so bad yourself." alternate Oscar said.
Ozpin pulled the blade back before swinging it at Shinnok's neck. Shinnok began making gargling noises as a waterfall of blood came from his neck.
Alternate Oscar furiously pointed at the screen "I knew it, this is a snuff tape."
"It's not!"
"A snuff tape is a video where someone is murdered. This is a video and that sad bastard was murdered therefore it is a snuff tape."
"Just keep watching you'll see it's not a snuff tape."
"Egads! That's far more blood than someone that size should have." said Port.
"Peter, the amount of blood he lost isn't important. He just had a longsword swung at his neck How is he one piece." said Bartholomew.
His head tilted forward before falling off as his body hung limp.
"Okay that makes me feel better." said Bartholomew.
"Someone just died and we don't seem the slightest bit bothered. I think something is wrong with us." said Qrow.
Ozpin picked up the head carried it to a head then opened it's eyes and began moving it's mouth trying to speak.
"Holy shit, he's still alive." exclaimed Yang.
"So when he said Ozpin can't kill him he meant that he couldn't die." said Blake.
"Does that means if I blended him he would still be alive despite being a thick puree?" Nora asked.
Ozpin's head slammed next to the causing it to be silent.
"I will deliver your head to Sun Wukong and your Netherrealm minions. You will serve as a warning, and an emblem of my wrath.
"Sun? Why would Ozpin give him a decapitated a head?" Nora wondered.
"He said he wants to send a message. To anyone who would be a threat, so Sun must be an enemy." said Pyrrha.
"That would be hard to picture if I hadn't seen hand fetish Jaune." said Yang.
"Don't remind me of that creep." said Jaune.
Ozpin walked away and teleported with a bolt of lightning. As soon as he left the drops of rain stopped midair.
"What's going on?" wondered Oscar.
"Temporal distortion l don't know?" said alternate Oscar.
"Those words are made up." responded Oscar.
"So is every other, what's your point? Besides the multiverse is infinite so someone has to use them somewhere."
The sound of heels clicking was heard. A pale skinned woman in a black and white dress with gold accents walked towards the head. She wore matching armor and had a gold plate covering her bald scalp.
"That's a strange get up, armor and a dress." said Qrow.
"The armor is pretty much not protecting anything. That means she's either overconfident or she actually believes that no one can touch her." said Ironwood.
"And it might just be true."
"This was not your destiny, Shinnok. Once again, the Thunder has upset the balance of history."
"Once again? What did he do before?" asked Blake.
"Someone helped him change the flow of history, preventing multiple cataclysmic from happening."
"But know this - this arc of the universe bends to my will." she then freezes the blood that was falling off the table in mid air.
"What exactly is her ability? the power of gravity control." said Weiss.
"Gyrokinesis." Jaune corrected.
"What?"
"Gyrokinesis, the ability to control gravity."
"How do you know that?" asked a stunned Blake.
"I've read lots of comics."
"That's unlikely," said Bartholomew. " The blood is still flowing. If it were in zero gravity it would take the shape of a sphere."
"So what do you think it is?" asked Ironwood.
"It's possible she's stopping time. That's the only way I can think of." he replied.
She kneels down till she is face to face with Shinnok. "it is only a matter of time."
"Did she just make a pun?" said Yang. "Did this woman just look this man in the eye and made a pun?"
"No it wasn't a pun." said Ruby.
"It's about TIME someone showed a sense of humor." said Yang.
"Please stop."
"It was starting to TICK me off. "
We are then shown a military hangar where a troop of soldiers was gathered. An older James Ironwood leaned against a stack of munitions cross armed. He wore an olive green vest with a black long sleeved shirt underneath. He also wore military boots and pants with knee pads. Lastly he had a belt which had Jimmy written on the buckle.
"What am I wearing?"
"Normal people clothes for once." said Qrow.
"I would never be caught dressed like that on base. Look at that idiot, he's wearing shades indoors."
"If it makes you feel better he wears them outdoors too. At night. On narrow platforms. Really high platforms. With spikes at the bottom."
"That's doesn't make me feel better."
A woman entered the hangar and the soldiers all saluted her. Her was braided and she wore a blue cap with the special forces logo. She wore a blue and black leather jacket with blue pants. She wore a utility belt with multiple pouches and she hand a gun strapped to each thigh.
"Oh look a big wig just walked in." said Qrow.
"She's wearing lots of blue." noted Yang.
"Atleast she has more respect for military dress code than him." added Ironwood.
"This version of her anyway." muttered Cobalt.
James takes of his shades and stands up straight saluting her.
"As you were." said the women revealing herself to be Glynda.
"For twenty-five years, the Special Forces have been Remnant's sword and shield. We've pushed back Adam Taurus. Defeated Shinnok."
"Remnant seems to draw alot of attention." Glynda said.
"I wonder why? There is nothing much special about it." said Nora.
"Expansion probably, gotta have new resources." suggested Weiss.
"Really, I would have said it's an ego thing. To brag about it to everyone else." said Yang
"You're right."
"What the ego thing?"
"It's the main reason for the conflicts."
"Yet none of our victories have come without cost."
"I'd be surprised if they did." said James.
"I pretty sure you can win a conflict without losing people." said
"It's possible but rare. Besides there are other things to lose."
"Like huntsman becoming redundant if we ever win." said Port.
"Imagine that, spending years of your life to fight, only to learn that you won't be fighting anything." said Qrow.
"Recently, Commander Pietro Poledina was honorably discharged. His wounds, both physical and psychological, left him no longer fit serve."
"Pietro? He..uh... was the last person I'd expect to hear was a soldier." said James
"He was a great soldier, and scientists. He created all the Special Force's high tech equipment."
"Just what kind of injuries did he suffer?"
"Look at yourself and the answer will be quite obvious."
"It's a miracle he survived then."
"He had an impressive will, continued to serve after losing his arms. Of course what happened next was too much for anyone."
"We honor Penny's father, and we honor his sacrifice, by doing what he would do- tirelessly defend Remnant."
"Sergeant Ironwood, step forward." a young blonde woman who was standing next to Penny stepped towards Glynda and stood at attention.
"Oh what's this a little Ironwood. I didn't think I'd ever see one." said Port.
"What's that supposed to mean?" asked James
"You never were, how do I say this, you weren't popular with the ladies." Bartholomew replied.
"Don't take it too, it's not your fault you have a personality like an Ursa with a log up it's rear."
"I am nothing like that, right Glynda?" he was only met with silence. " Glynda?"
"Of course James your nothing like that."
"You're just saying that not to hurt my feelings."
She wore a green tactical combat suit and had a ponytail. She also greatly resembled Glynda.
" Ms. Goodwitch has a kid. What more surprises are there." said Yang.
"You could be wrong, she might just resemble Ms. Goodwitch." argued Blake.
"My, oh my, I didn't know you were planning on having a baby together." teased Qrow.
"That's stupid Qrow I'd never have a child with James. Not that there is anything wrong with you James."
"Of course, I agree. Me and Glynda, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"Your leadership and warfighting ability have earned you promotion to commander."
"I know that's not my child but I think I have every right to be proud." said Glynda.
"She's so young, and yet there she is, a high ranking officer." said alternate Oscar.
"But there are no family favors here." Glynda said directing it to all the soldiers present.
"That confirms it, she is that Glynda's daughter." said Qrow.
"So it seems."
"By Special Forces tradition you still have to pass last one test."
"I need to kick the CO's ass, ma'am. Your ass, ma'am." replied Sergeant Ironwood.
"That's a strange tradition." said Glynda.
"Indeed. But you'll soon see that it's required for you to survive."
Glynda took a step back and put on pair of fingerless gloves which had black gauntlets.
"All right then, Sergeant. Let's see if you can take me."Sergeant Cage presses a button on her belt summoning a small white drone.
"Look at it's so adorable." gushed Ruby.
"That is the combat drone BLB-118."
Alternate Oscar was skeptical of this."Combat drone? that thing looks harmless. No visible weapons."
"It can fire energy beams, create force fields, can support a person's weight as well as ram into someone's head with enough force to turn it into paste."
"So it's just really compact." said alternate Oscar.
Glynda begins with a series of kicks to Ironwood's shin before wrapping her leg around hers tripping. She then rolls and kick her in the gut. "Your doing great Glynda." James from the back.
Ironwood springs back to her feet. She then shoulder charges at Glynda before grabbing her. She then kneed her in the gut before kicking her face. The two moved back before adapting similar stances. They eyed each briefly.
"Thank goodness this is just a sparing match." sighed Glynda.
"Yeah I wouldn't want to see what the drone could do, firsthand that is." said Yang.
Ironwood charges at Glynda kicking her in the gut. Glynda wraps a garrote wire around her leg, using it to pull her closer. She then throws her into the air before leaping after her. Glynda wraps her legs around her neck and then slams her into the ground back first.
"...How old is miss Goodwitch here?" asked Blake.
"She's 54."
"She's pretty agile for someone who is that, you know." said Jaune.
"Someone who is what ?"
"No I didn't mean anything by it."
"Were you implying that I'm old?"
"No ma'am, I mean Glyn-Ms. Goodwitch."
"We can't deny it though Glynda. She's quite flexible." alternate Oscar said with a cheeky grin.
Glynda that began wailing on her as Ironwood brought her arms fast enough to block.Glynda was suddenly hit from behind by BLB-118 knocking her off.
"So the drone has a sort of auto pilot." said Weiss ."Makes, sense I guess."
"It would be a useful asset. Providing support and assistance to injured troops." said Ironwood.
Ironwood got to her feet and used her drone to vault over Glynda. She then performed a roundhouse kick knocking Glynda back onto BLB-118 who creates an electric field knocking Glynda into the air.
Ironwood then tackles her midway through her fall. After knocking her down the Sergeant unleashed a barrage of punches on her C.O.
"She's is really messing you up Glynda."said Qrow.
"I believe this is what the students call 'getting rekt'." said Port.
"And no aura to protect yourself with." added Ironwood.
Ironwood was then knocked off Glynda by a pink shockwave but she manages land on her feet.
"What was that?" wondered Glynda.
"I think it was an energy blasts of sorts." said Port.
"I didn't think this Glynda had powers." said Ironwood.
"I believe it has more to do with the bracelets she was wearing." said Bartholomew
Sergeant Ironwood then starts glow with a green aura. She then shoulder charges Glynda before grabbing her. She then turns her to face BLB-118 who scans her before ramming into her gut.
"I heard something crack." said Qrow
"She's fine." said Vermilion. "It'll take alot more than that to stop her."
"I think she's down for the count, but that was pretty cool." said Yang "Fights like that are hard to find, a good old fashioned bareknuckle brawl."
"I was more interested in General Goodwitch's bracelets." said Blake. "Those blasts could be useful in alot of scenarios."
"It wasn't as cool as the drone. The possibilities of all the cool stuff it can do." argued Ruby.
"I agree with Ruby, I'd take a drone over bracelets any time." said Nora.
Glynda then fell to her knees as Ironwood gave a salute. "Commander Ironwood, reporting for duty." before helping Glynda back to her feet.
"Congratulations, Commander." said Glynda as she saluted her with a proud look on her face. An equally proud James walked up to her and gave her a hug.
"That's just sweet. They're a family of soldiers." said Qrow.
"It must be rough. Working in the same place as your parents." said Ruby.
"Come on, Dad do you really have to go?"
"You've got your duty, 'Commander'. I've got mine. " replies as walks up to a bullhead.
"Starring in yet another Ninja mime sequel isn't what I'd call duty."
"Ninja mime?" wondered James.
"Sequel? Uh General I think you're an actor. " said Oscar.
"A really cheesy one." added alternate Oscar.
"How can you tell?" asked Nora.
"Movies with names like Ninja mime don't fill me with confidence." replied alternate Oscar.
"They're like all those dumb shark movies with cringey acting." said Yang.
"Why are there so many shark movies?" wondered Ruby.
"There was that good one bite? teeth? Jaws? whatever it is everyone wants to copy it. " said Nora.
" Your telling me that in this world I make a living by playing make believe."
"Okay that's kinda harsh." said Qrow.
"I need to provide for you in the manner to which you've become accustomed." He said as he moved in to kiss Glynda.
"This, is pretty nice and wholesome. Kinda makes you forget we saw a man get beheaded." noted Pyrrha.
"I know right, I thought it was going to be over the top gore at every corner." said Jaune.
"It's a total tone shift." said Ren.
As the two kiss Cassie makes a disgusted face."Geez guy's I'm right here."
"One of the most embarrassing things your parents could do." Yang said.
"It could be worse." said Blake. "They could bring up embarrassing things you did as a kid."
"Oh that's just the worst." said Jaune.
Claps of thunder were heard drawing the family's attention.
"Thunder on clear sunny day, in the desert at that time of year?" said a confused Pyrrha.
"You know what that means." said Nora.
A red bolt of lightning struck the ground in front of them. From the small crater walked out Ozpin.
"That was quite the impressive entrance." said Qrow.
"More time with my godly self I see." said alternate Oscar.
"General Blade, Cassandra Ironwood." said Ozpin as he walked towards them.
"Let's just take in the fact he didn't bother to acknowledge James." said Qrow.
Ironwood seemed to be okay with that."I know I wouldn't."
"You really don't like this version of you, don't you General?" noted Weiss.
"What is it Ozpin?" asked Cassie.
"The Netherrealm."The group gathered in the command room and stood around a holographic display table.
"Netherrealm, thats the third we've heard exactly is it?" asked Port.
"Whatever it is, It's got a pretty metal name." said Nora.
"For all intents and purposes it's hell."
"We should open a dialogue. Maybe there's an explanation. Sun and Blake were friends once." suggested Cassie.
"Sun and I are there, why?" asked Blake.
"You died."
"Woah slow down a bit." said Yang. "What did she do to get there?"
"Not much, she was an assassin but that has little to do with her going to hell."
"Then how did she end up there in the first place?" asked Nora.
"Upon her death, her soul along with the souls of several others including Pietro were collected by a necromancer."
"That's why he left the force, he was traumatized by dying." said Qrow.
"The first time always is the hardest." said alternate Oscar in a somber tone.
"Well that's just dark." said Vermillion.
"What did the necromancer need their souls for?"
"To be added to the ranks of the undead army."
"They are irreparably polluted by Shinnok's evil. They are no longer the champions we once knew." countered Ozpin with a solemn look on his.
"He's given up on them already?" said Qrow.
"He's a God, can't he just I don't know. Magic them back to normal?" asked Yang.
"That's not how it works. He requires their souls to do that."
"But their still in the possession of the necromancer." reasoned Bartholomew.
"Why don't they just take them from him." asked Pyrrha.
"He died, a certain Scorpion killed him. " said Cobalt.
"We must strike them preemptively."
"It's about time we brought the fight to them." said Glynda as she switched on the display of a castle. "What's the target?"
"She seems eager. A bit overzealous." said Glynda.
"Many of her men have died because of them. For her it's personal."
"Buried deep beneath Sun and Blake's castle is the Cathedral of Shinnok, the seat of their power." began Ozpin."Destroy it and their undead army will fall, removing it's threat to Remnant."
"Take out the head, the body follows. A simple plan, but still effective." noted James.
"You have a castle Blake. Hell or not that sounds like a pretty sweet tradeoff." said Yang.
"Aren't your powers weaker in the Netherrealm?" asked Cassie.
"Yes. But I will have sufficient strength to occupy the undead army."
"That'll buy us enough time to infiltrate the Cathedral. Destroy it from the inside." added Glynda.
"We get pinned down in there, there's no way out." said Cassie.
"To ensure Remnant's survival, we must all be willing to sacrifice."
"Hearing him say that, just make me worry." said Blake. "Aside from it being ominous, it means he doesn't care how many die as long as the mission is a success."
"Y'know it's been two years too much of your grim and gritty makeover, droning on about sacrifice." said Ironwood.
"Looks like James has had enough." said alternate Oscar.
"You don't have a family to lose."
"I know loss, Ironwood."
"What's that supposed to mean?" wondered Oscar.
"Sun was like a son to him, infact Ozpin practically raised him." said Cobalt. " It hurts him to see him like that. It also fuels his rage."
"Ozpin's right, Jimmy. We're not ready for another war." Glynda said as she calmed him down . "We've got to take out Netherrealm's army now, before Wukong can bring it here."
"Something bad is going to happen." said Blake.
A red and black portal opened into a hellish landscape with red skies. Armed troops began marching out of it accompanied by Ozpin.
Cassie joins Glynda and Penny as they observe the undead upon thousands of undead creatures and demons stood in front of a massive castle.
The troops the maneuver around the trying to avoid being. Cassie pulled out communication device and spoke into it. "We're in position. Hope Ozpin's planned one hell of a diversion."
"I hope he's going to be Okay." said Pyrrha.
"Don't worry, weakened or not he's still a God." said Weiss.
A cloud mist hid the soldier and covered the entrance to the valley. From the mist walked out Ozpin his body crackling with electricity. He walked to the center of the army and stood between all of them.
"Withdraw! Or feel the wrath of Remnant's Protector!"
The demons walked closer. Ozpin raised Shinnok's amulet and fired multiple bolts of branching lightning from it striking multiple demons with it.
"These demons, aren't very bright." said Bartholomew.
In the castle a man and woman with grey skin and red eyes climbed up a flight of stairs. The man had shoulder length blonde hair and had a tattered red headband. He wore dragon themed black and gold armor.
"Is that Sun? His skin looks so, rotten." said Blake.
"That's the influence of the Netherrealm. Anyone who stays there too long begins to be corrupted by it's influence causing their flesh to decay."
Next to him was a woman in a blue bodysuit which showed her cleavage and had a single pauldron on her right shoulder. She wore two mask; a blue one that her lower face and one made from the skull of a four horned creature.
"Then there is Blake, what's up with the veins?" wondered Jaune.
"All revenants have them."
"What's a revenant?" asked Yang.
"A revenant is a special kind of undead, created for the sole purpose of being a warrior."
"So they're basically zombies." said Nora.
"Not really, they are superior to zombies in every way and are capable of thought. Of course they think they're living in paradise and because of that they will fight viciously to stay like that."
Sun then unleashed his undead army onto Ozpin.
As more of the demons left the castle the Special Forces used that opportunity to sneak in silently killing any stragglers.
"They're plan hinged on the front door being open. What if there were guards?" wondered Qrow .
"They obviously had no other option the castle is built into the cliff wall." said Glynda.
The Special Forces went deeper into the castle passing multiple rooms lit with candles and decorated with skulls and bones.
"If it wasn't for all the bones and skulls the castle would be really nice to look at." noted Blake.
"Yeah, I kinda like the gothic look." said Weiss. "Kinda takes my mind of the fact dead people live in it and it's in hell."
They eventually reached the entrance to a room full of demons. As Glynda peered inside she saw two familiar people.
One was a masked man in an olive green jacket and a head of blonde hair. His mask had two black tubes attached to a device beneath a pair of hookswords on his back. His forearms and neck were uncovered revealing his melted grey skin.
"Just look at his skin, what happened to him?" asked Jaune.
"He was burnt by a shokan."
"A what?"
"A shokan, part man part dragon." said Vermilion. " though this one was of the tigra lineage so he was also part tiger."
"So like faunus?" asked Blake.
"No, he was an actual giant four armed, two legged tiger that could throw and breathe fireballs ."
"That sounds like a weird creature."
"It's far from the strangest one."
Next to him was a blonde woman in a green bodysuit with a black hooded cape. She too wore a mask but it was easy to tell who it was.
"You don't seem to be bothered by the fact you're dead." noted Ruby.
Yang just shrugged. "At this point I expected it. What about Ruby and Weiss, are they also, unalive?"
"Weiss is fine, Ruby on the other hand. She isn't dead but she's stranded on an island without her legs , unable to leave or die."
"Like Shinnok."
The two of them walked up to an altar and bowed before the still living mounted head. The head of Shinnok.
"Okay now I'm part of an undead evil death cult." said Yang.
"It's been two years and the head still looks the same, he really can't die."
"And he is suffering a fate far worse than death. Trapped in eternal agony but unable to be freed by death, doomed to spend the rest of his days with movement." said Oscar.
"Why does anyone ever want immortality if it can backfire that horribly?" wondered Weiss.
"That burn victim's Jaune?" asked Cassie. "Wasn't he one of Torchwick's goons back in the day?"
"I worked for Roman?"
"Used to, you became a police officer after you left his gang."
"What's with the tubes and mask?"
"They're his breathing apparatus, his lungs were destroyed."
"Don't let the scars fool you. He's fast." advised Glynda. "Take out him and Yang. I'll go downstairs and set the C4."
"Let's play a game, let's try to guess which of us is dead." said Jaune. "Because it looks like it's going to be a trend."
"Oh if that's the case, I say Cinder died." said Pyrrha
"You're really mad at her?" said Nora.
"Kinda hard to forgive the person who murdered you."
"I know the feeling." said alternate Oscar.
"Roger that." said Cassie as she psyched herself up. She kicked the door and ran in guns blazing. Her soldiers following suit.
One demon manage to get pass their formation and kill one soldier with a stab to the eye.
Cassie fired at Jaune who deflected every bullet with his hookswords as ran towards her.
"That's what General Goodwitch meant when she said I was fast."
"I wonder how fast I am compared to him?" thought Ruby outloud.
He then impaled a soldier and used him as human shield as Cassie fired. By the time he reached her she was out of ammunition. Ripping the soldier in two he then swung his sword at her, however she managed to dodge.
Penny ran to help but was stopped by Yang wielding a green staff.
"A staff. So I go around waving a big stick?" said Yang.
"I'd rather swing a big stick around, than use my fists. They might get caught in something." said Oscar.
"Yeah punching something is the riskiest fighting style ever." added Ruby. "A scythe on the other hand is perfect."
"Aren't they just garden tools, I think I've even used one back on the farm."
While they were busy Glynda led her group to target. "Move! Charges on every column!"
In the other room Penny and Yang traded punches. Just as Penny was about to use her gauntlets a demon charged at her forcing her to fire her wrist mounted guns into its head.
"Just look at that. The bullets just shredded through him." said Yang. That could have been her face!
"She has a pretty useful long range weapon. A more practical option, doesn't weigh her down aswell as take less time to aim." said Ren.
Jaune swung his sword cleaving through Cassie's rifle."Your a dead ringer for your mother." he said as he pointed at her.
"I'll kick your ass on her behalf, Jaune."
Cassie then summoned her drone and ordered it to charge at him. Jaune ran towards it and vaulted off it.
He then ran towards Cassie violently swinging his swords at her. Cassie coated herself in a green aura and dodged the slashes .
"The aura increases her speed as well." noted Bartholomew. "But it seems to only do it in short bursts."
Cassie then pulled out one of her guns and pistol whipped him across the face. She then fired shots into his chest before he collapsed.
"Was I just taken down that easily?"
"I mean, it could have been worse." said Pyrrha.
"How?"
"She could of just shot your head." said Ren.
"Or damage your respiratory system, let you suffocate." added alternate Oscar.
"Okay that could have been worse."
As Cassie was about to walk away she felt something latch onto to her armor. She was suddenly dragged across the floor before being slammed against a column.
Jaune stood in front of her rapidly spinning his swords. "Is that your best little girl?"
"Okay, how is he still walking?" asked Weiss.
"He's a revenant, tougher to kill. Also his lungs are nothing more than shriveled up little chest sacs." explained Vermillion.
Cassie got back to her feet spitting out a little blood. She then had her drone fire shots at Jaune who dodged each one. He then ran the opposite direction.
"Is he seriously running away, he has the upper hand." said Ironwood.
"I think that's how he fights, hit and run tactics." said Port.
As he reached the wall he went up it and across the ceiling before punching Cassie from behind, knocking her into the air. He then followed up with a clothesline before hooking her armor with his swords. He then spun around before throwing her into the ground. "Didn't you say you were going to kick my ass?"
"He's just gloating, he has the speed and the weapons, he could just end her right there." said Jaune.
"He's overconfident in his speed. Not many can outrun him so he sees no need in rushing the fight." said Cobalt.
"That's gonna bite him in the ass."
"It did, that's how he died." said Vermillion.
Cassie got back to her feet again and waited for Jaune to dash at her again. Just as he was about to hit her she used her family's special attack.
"Whatever she's planning she better do it fast." said Ironwood.
She performed the splits and punched Jaune in the crotch knocking the little air he had out of him.
Qrow immediately burst out laughing at the sight.
"I never thought I'd see a zombie get punched in the dick."
"So that's my family's special technique. A simple crotch punch." said Ironwood.
"You hate that too?"
"Oh no I actually like it. It short, simple and most importantly it does it's job."
"Dammit Ironwood, what have you been teaching your kid?" groaned Jaune in pain.
Cassie then grabbed Jaune and bashed his head against her drone before throwing him to the she then straddled him and punched his face with an enhanced punch knocking him out.
"You lose as fast as you run." she said as she walked away.
"That is really embarrassing." said Jaune.
"He rushed into this fight all gung ho, and it turned out terribly." added Ren.
Cassie and Penny then regrouped shortly afterwards. "Penny, where's Yang."
"She bailed, getting help I'm sure." Penny replied.
"This mission might actually be a success, if they can do it before reinforcements arrive." said Pyrrha.
"I've seen so many movies, games and comics where the military always fails against supernatural threats to the point I'm used to it. Seeing them actually win is gonna take a while to get used to." said Jaune.
"I know right. it's all so overwhelming." added Ruby.
Cassie then activated her communication device."General, how we doing?" she asked.
"Need ten minutes. The support columns are further apart than expected." Glynda said as she armed the charges.
"Dammit, I hate it when that happens." muttered Ironwood.
"I can't count the amount of near misses I've had because of that." said Blake.
"Need help?"
"Negative. Just cover our backs." Glynda replied as she cut the connection.
"Ten more minutes? we needed to be tail-lights in five." said Penny.
A roar was heard echoing throughout the castle. "Well we're in the shit now. We have C4, yeah. "
"Yeah, why?"
"Let's buy ourselves sometime." Cassie replied.
"Guerrilla tactics, the best answer for when you're outnumbered." said Ironwood.
Outside the demons charged at Ozpin who was a one man army. He was dual wielding electric swords and cutting through the demons.
"He's just mowing through them." said Qrow.
"I know he is supposed to be weaker, but this just looks unfair for the demons." said Yang.
Blake and Sun stood on the balcony. Watching Ozpin with cold expressions.
"Emperor! Empress! People of Remnant have captured the bone temple!" reported Yang.
"But Ozpin..." questioned Blake till she was interrupted by the crack of lightning. Ozpin had brought down branching bolts of lightning mowing down the army.
"He's the diversion!" said Sun.
"They figured it out." said Ren.
"Took them long enough." Nora said.
"Don't blame them, little experience with leadership." explained Cobalt.
Cassie was seen setting up a tripwire attached to a charge."Lock and load."
Penny and Cassie ran down the hall and hid behind a fallen pillar, aiming at the door.
Countless demons poured down the hall, as they passed the entrance they triggered the explosions.
"They barely made a dent, there is just too many of them." noted Ren.
The troops then fired round after round at the demon horde, buy there were far too many of them. So many that they caused the ground to rumble.
"They just keep pouring out like ants." said Pyrrha.
"More like a horde of Grimm." corrected Nora.
The shaking was felt in the chamber below. "What's going on up there?"
"I'm watching your back General."
More demon then came from behind the group. Penny and a few of the men fired at the demons. When she ran out of bullets she charged into the horde, killing demons with her wrist guns. She ended up taking them all down in a dance of limbs and bullets.
"An army this large. How do they even provide for all of them?" wondered Port.
"Being undead has it's perks I guess." said Bartholomew.
A flaming skull flew towards Penny, she and Cassie dodging at the last moment. Cassie started dodging again avoiding slashes from Blake.
"Who is it now?" wondered Yang.
"Blake, 'Empress of the dead'." said Cassie as got back to her feet.
"That's a terrible title." said Blake.
"But it's really accurate." responded Weiss.
"Accurate, but still terrible." said Ren.
"I've not forgotten our last encounter at the sky temple." Blake said as she pulled down her skull mask.
" What's with the mask?" asked Yang.
"It's something she picked from her stepfather."
"How are your scars healing." Cassie taunted.
Blake spread her fan causing a gust of wind to push Cassie back. She then followed with a drop kick knocking Cassie down.
"Fans, wow. They wouldn't be my first pick but if they work I guess." said Blake. "They are pretty powerful."
Blake then made a small whirlwind launching Cassie into the air. She then leapt into the air and slashed at Cassie's leg. As Cassie fell to the ground, Blake laughed while fanning herself "Know your place commoner."
"She sounds like one of those stuck up aristocrats." said Weiss.
"She has the right to. She was princess of two realms and now she is the Empress of one of the most powerful realms." said Vermillion.
Cassie held her leg in pain rolling on the ground. As Blake walked closer Cassie pulled a gun and shoot at her knee.
The Commander covered herself in her aura and charged at Blake deliver an uppercut launching her. Cassie then performed a gravity defying kick that sent her flying upwards vertically.
"Cassie is a really dirty fighter." said Ruby.
''I wouldn't call it dirty til they start biting.'' said Nora.
"She's far from the dirtiest fighters, infact Glynda is far more likely to use underhanded tactics."
Cassie then took a page from her mother's book wrapping her legs around Blake's waist before throwing her to the ground. She then grabbed Blake by her ankles and threw her into BLB-118.
Cassie then picked up Blake's fans and closed them into daggers. Blake got back to her feet and pulled a pair of pink sai's."Using your sister's sai."
"She has a sister?" said a surprised Ruby.
"I wonder how she was like?" wondered Blake.
"In a word, vicious."
"Don't call her my sister! Neo was an abomination, just like father."
"I sense bad blood. " said Qrow.
"What did her father do to anger her." wondered Glynda
The two dashed at each other and clashed blades. The weapons clanged off each other and sparks were sent flying.
The fans then started pulling Cassie towards Blake who leapt behind and wrapped her arms around her waist before suplexing her.
Cassie laid on the ground motionless as Blake got back to her feet. Blake then went to check if to check if she was really defeated.
"She should really be careful." said Weiss
"Yeah especially of that drone." added Ruby.
As she stood over Cassie, Blake felt herself get pulled of her feet. Cassie then rolled over and kicked Blake in the gut. She then fired an enhanced bullet into Blake's face knocking her out.
"It must be great being resilient to bullets without an aura." said Weiss.
"You wouldn't have to worry about summoning it."
"Move!" Glynda yelled ordering her squad to leave."Move,Move, Move!"
Meanwhile Penny was fighting Sun who was deflecting all her attacks. He then stunned her with two flaming punches and knocked her back with a third one.
"So he's the one with the fireballs." said Yang.
Sun saw the troops leaving the chamber below. A sinister smile graced his face as he walked towards them.
" I don't think I like where this is going." said Ren.
"Maybe Cassie will make it in time."
As the soldiers climbed the stairs the ran into Sun waiting for them. Sun then fired streams of fire from his palms at the ceiling causing it to collapse.
"Those poor people." said Pyrrha.
" I think Glynda was still in there." said Qrow.
Cassie then spoke into her intercom "General? General?" she looked to the chambers only to find it closed off by rubble.
Sun then appeared in front of her. "She is trapped, Cassandra Ironwood."
Angered, Cassie then walked up to Sun. "How "The Chosen One" has fallen." she spat. "Ozpin was right. Whatever Shinnok did to you, you're a lost cause."
Sun the got into a stance and performed a hand gesture at her. Cassie throws a kick at Sun who simply slaps it away. She throws multiple punches each one getting deflected.
"The skill gap between them is too wide." said Ironwood.
Sun lit his fists on fire and threw a barrage of flaming punches at her. Cassie managed to block but the heat still burnt her.
"She clearly shouldn't be fighting him. The best strategy would be to retreat." said Glynda.
"She isn't thinking straight. Her emotions have got the better of her." said Port.
Sun then kicked her in the gut and then performed a one inch punch that left her gasping for air.
He teleports in a ball of fire punching Cassie from behind, before teleporting in front of her to perform an uppercut. "You need a rest? I'd gladly wait if it means it will help you fight better."
Cassie pulls out her guns and releases a barrage of bullets in Sun. When she stopped firing Sun looked her and smirked. "Did you let it out of your system?"
"This Sun is a total dick." said Yang. "The worst part is how smug he is about it, it makes want to punch him so bad.''
Cassie continues firing her guns while charging at Sun. This pushed Sun back till he was against the wall. "This is futile Cassandra, you can't defeat me."
Cassie noticed a scythe mounted on the wall. She took down the scythe and used it to pin sun against the wall as Sun let out a scream of pain. "Fuck. You." she said in a venomous tone.
"Preach." said Yang.
''At least she found a way around that skill gap.'' said alternate Oscar.
''How many people can say they beat the chosen one?'' said Qrow.
Cassie ran over to the rubble and called for Glynda. "General!? Mom?"
"I'm here, Cass." Glynda were weakly replied. It was shown that the rubble trapped just as she was about to escape.
''She survived being buried in all that rubble,'' said Port. '' I believe that now we can finally say she is superhuman.''
''She was so close.'' said Glynda.
"Hang tight. We'll get you guys out."
"They're gone, Cass. And I'm not gonna make it."
"What? I'm not leaving you behind!"
''They don't need to leave her. They can just contact Ozpin he can teleport her out.'' reasoned Nora.
''They can't, Ozpin naturally gives off an electric field that makes communicating with him impossible.'' explained Cobalt.
''I don't think that would make a difference anyway.'' said Ironwood. ''He might say ''she is a necessary sacrifice.'' or something like that.''
"Get your team home. That's an order. Your duty." Glynda said as she reached for the detonator."Mine's to finish the mission."
"Mom, no! We can save you!"
"I love you Cass." Glynda said as she started to cry. "Give your dad a kiss for me."
"Mom, no don't-" Cassie shouts only for Glynda to press the detonator. "Mom? Mom!"
''The mission comes first.'' said Ironwood.
''They still have time they could dig out of the rubble.'' reasoned Jaune.
''They don't have much time. Everyone knows where they are.'' said Port.
''If they stay there any longer they'll be sitting ducks, so they have to leave her.'' said Ren.
''But if they leave she'll die!'' said Jaune.
''Then her death won't be in vain.'' said Ironwood.
Penny is then alerted by a device that the countdown has begun." She's started the detonation sequence!"
"Override it Penny!" she shouts
"There is no override!" Penny shouts back. Cassie didn't seem to care and kept moving the rubble. "Commander!" Penny yelled as she pulled Cassie away.
"Our orders are to leave." Penny reasons one more time.
''This is must be one of the worst decisions anyone will ever have to make.'' said Pyrrha.
Cassie fights back her tears and stares at the rumble. Roars were heard signalling the arrival of demons.
Cassie and her squad fight their way through the demons and evacuate the castle.
As they ran outside the castle exploded before collapsing. Ozpin saw them and struck all the soldiers with lightning teleporting them back to Remnant.
''They made it, as bad as this mission went and despite the casualties this mission was a success.'' said alternate Oscar.
''A success? What do you mean a success?'' Jaune then leapt at him grabbing him by his collar. ''HOW IS ANY OF THIS A SUCCESS? Someone died can't you even show sympathy, did you stop feeling any kind of sympathy when you first died. Are you even able to feel at all?''
Alternate Oscar simply looked at him uninterested. ''This conversation again? Mr. Arc I can see you resent me right now, quite possibly hate me, but it's obvious you're in pain due to seeing Ms. Nikos and seeing this brought back those memories. However don't assume I am unable to feel the same.'' alternate Oscar then wacked Jaune's hands with his cane causing him to release him. ''If I was going to grieve for every single person that dies I'd never get anything done.''
Ozpin then calmly walked to Cassie before he said "Your mother died a warrior's death. May we all be so fortunate." callously.
"You did not just say that." said Penny who took his words to heart.
"Thank God you're back. How did the mission-" said James as he came to greet them before noticing something. Cassie was crying and Glynda wasn't there. "No." he said as he walked to his daughter and fell to his knees.
The father daughter pair hugged and both mourned their loss.
''They have each other, that's all they need to get through this.'' said Yang.
''Who knows what they would have done without each other.'' said Blake.
Meanwhile in the Netherrealm Sun and Blake stood in the remains of their castle.
"Without the Cathedral's power, we stand alone. We are vulnerable."
Sand rose from around them and took the form of a woman.
''Its her again.'' said Nora.
''Who exactly is she?" asked Weiss.
"Who are you ?" asked Blake. "One of Ozpin's Elder Gods, here to taunt us?"
"No, Blake. I am much more. Behold." she said as she raised her hands and restored the castle.
''That was amazing, so her powers go beyond just stopping time, how powerful is she?'' wondered Bartholomew.
"If the castle has been restored does that mean Glynda is still alive." said James
"That means she going to spent her last moment in a dark hole alone." alternate Oscar said.
"What power is this?" said awestruck Blake.
"I am Salem, Keeper of time." she then engulfed the three of them in a sandstorm. When the sand cleared they in a strange black and grey room with a large hourglass.
''The eyes and the plate kind of made it hard to tell, but now that I see her face,'' said alternate Oscar. ''It really is her.''
''How well do you remember her, her normal self?'' asked Oscar.
''I don't remember her all that much, most of my memories of her have been replaced by what shes become.''
"The sands of time guide the destiny of the realms and every soul therein. I have carefully crafted them to keep the realms in balance. But my work's perfection has been irreversibly tainted by Ozpin's actions."
''How exactly did he change history?'' asked Yang.
''You said he was given aide by someone, who was it?'' asked Glynda.
''Himself, or rather another version of himself from an alternate future.'' explained Cobalt
''How did he do that?" asked Nora.
''He sent his memories back in time, this wasn't perfect but it succeeded.''
''But Salem noticed this.'' said Ironwood. "And by the looks of it she didn't like that."
"The two of have felt that pain most acutely."
"What can be done? The past is the past, is it not?" said Sun.
"It need not be. I intend to wind time back to it's beginning and restart history."
"So she wants to reboot the universe, like a hard reset."
"But even with my vast power, I cannot create this New Era alone."
"How will this New Era be different?" asked Blake.
"In many ways. But most importantly, there will be no Ozpin."
''And just like that she's won their trust.'' said Qrow.
This was enough to convince both Sun and Blake who both smiled at the prospect. "How do we begin."
"We'll come back to this soon." said Cobalt.
"First we're going to get ready for some new arrivals."
I finally did it. Sorry it took so long. On a side note I'm thinking of doing the Ghost Stories dub aswell as some comic moments.
