It had been a couple days, and Ashley and Chloe were about to start at Uva academy. They hadn't been out, but did work on teaching Ashley the human language as a Zorua without illusions, it was slow going. But they were now ready to head out, even had a couple sandwiches packed away, when they heard the doorbell ring, and when they went to open it Director Clavell walked in.

"Do forgive the intrusion," he said, before speaking to them. "I hope you two are ready for your first day at Uva academy. As you know I am the director, and thus I am responsible for the entire academy-including any failures on its part… so here are the enrollment documents that are now completed from the rushed acceptance. I am glad to see you are ready for your first day. Yes, the uniform of our storied academy suits the two of you quite well indeed."

"Zor… thank… you." Ashley managed,

"Wonderful." Director Clavell said, "you are learning the language without illusions."

"Its hard," Chloe admitted, "but she is learning."

Director Clavell smiled before remembering. "Oh gracious. I had entirely forgotten that I have something else for the two of you. The most important thing. But inside is hardly the place for it. Would you care to follow me outside?"

"Sure," Chloe said as they followed him outside.

"Right then, dear Pokémon time to come out of your pokeballs." Director Clavell said releasing Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. "We provide each student entering the academy a Pokémon their own. Also, Ashley, despite being a Zorua, you are alsoma trainer, and a student at the academy, thus you get one too."

This caused all three of the Pokémon to look surprised at her.

"I'll ask the two of you to choose between these three you would like to have as a partner," Director Clavell said, "I know they won't take the place of your Pokémon in a coma, but I hope they become friends nonetheless. There is Sprigatito, the grass cat pokemon. Fuecoco the fire croc pokemon and quickly the duckling pokemon. They're all very good company. Why the usually refuse to leave my side."

Of course like they were trying to prove him wrong, the three of them approached Ashley and Chloe.

"Of course they do seem more interested in you two right now,"

Clavell noted. "I do wish I could stay and see which ones you two choose, but I must be off to my next home visit. I'll be at the house just over there. Take your time with your decision then come find me once your mind is made up. Now if you'll excuse me. Until next time we meet."

With that he left them to make their choice. Leaving Chloe to watch Ashley and Sprigatito sniff each other, while Fuecoco patted her leg, and Quaxly fixed his hair. Eventually they made their decisions and walked over to the house Director Clavell pointed too. Once there Sprigatito went to smell the flowers, Fuecoco toasted a fallen fruit, and Quaxly took a bath in the pond.

"Are you these three trainers?" the girl that lived there noticed Chloe, before blinking. "And is that a Zorua in a school uniform?"

"I… student," Ashley said to the girls surprise as Director Clavell showed up.

"Ashley is correct," he said. "Despite being a Zorua. She is also a trainer, and student as well as Chloe's Pokémon. Unfortunately they have recently gone through some trouble and are here alone. I ask you not to inquire as it is rather fresh. Still, as students Ashley and Chloe here, are both given a choice for a Pokémon, but have yet to make the choice… I do wonder which they will choose."

"A Pokémon as a trainer?" the girl said before smiling. "That means you have an advantage at training, and you can speak to pokemon, making catching them easier too. Oh. Buenas! We haven't met, have we?"

"I must say," Director Clavell said, "I wasn't expecting to see the two of you here quite so soon. These are are academy's newest students, Chloe, and Ashley. They will be attending as of today."

"Well, I'm Nemona," she said, "normally I live in the school dorms, but here is home. Nice to meet you two. Wanna be friends?"

"Of course!" Chloe agreed.

"…Sure," Ashley said causing Nemona and the Pokémon's eyes to widen.

"You can speak!" Nemona said before smiling. "Nice! We're gonna get on just fine."

"Miss Nemona is president of the student council and a champion-rank trainer in her own right." Director Clavell said, much to Ashley and Chloe's shock.

"I absolutely love Pokémon battles," Nemona said, "In fact we should battle right now! Either of you and me!"

"Easy now," Director Clavell said, "while you are in general studies, they are both dual course students. Miss Chloe is in the Outdoor survival and Contest courses with Mr. Saguaro as homeroom teacher, while Ashley is in the STEM Track and Contest courses with Ms. Tyme as homeroom teacher."

"Aww man, we're not in the same class," Nemona said. Before perking up. "Oh well, no rule says we can't battle in our free time."

"On that note. Have the two of you decided which Pokémon you would like?" Director Clavell asked.

"Zor… Sp… Sp… Spriga… Sprigatito," Ashley said, pointing at her.

"I'll take Fuecoco," Chloe said, picking her up. "She is much friendlier than Quaxly."

"I see," Director Clavell said. "Please take care of them with love and care."

Nemona was so happy seeing them team up that she asked to raise Quaxly, and was agreed. She even battled Ashley with him, though the type advantage let Ashley win. Director Clavell also gave them their rotomphones that had been sent ahead for them. They then headed to school with Nemona. But as they approached the light house they heard a strange cry…

"Guh-GYAOHHH!"
