Six weeks later, Hiro had thankfully fully recovered and his arm was as good as new. However, as a consequence, he was unable to join the rest of the guys on any missions and that really hurt him to be out of action for so long. On the other hand, Karmi was absolutely delighted because it meant her Hiro was safe. But to Hiro, it felt like he was a footballer who missed the World Cup through injury and it was a very frustrating six weeks. The one big positive they could both agree on though, was that it brought them closer together as Hiro had more time to video call her. And the last call they had was a particularly exciting one. The reason for this was that a certain day was coming up. One which would be a very significant milestone in their relationship and a first for both of them. It was the night of February the 13th as Hiro and Karmi were having a late midnight chat.

'Are you sure Cass won't mind me staying for the weekend?' asked Karmi, for the second time that night.

'No, not at all! She's actually really excited to see you again.'

'Aw, well she's not the only one! Can't wait to see her again too.'

'And me too, right?'

'Hmm, I dunno. I also really wanna see Baymax and the rest of the guys too, so…' Hiro pouted and Karmi laughed.

'Haha! I'm joking! Of course I can't wait to see you too, you big doofus!' Hiro rolled his eyes playfully.

Even though they were now a couple, they still essentially had the foundations of their original relationship and regularly teased each other. And it was something that would always be there.

'So, how's that arm of yours?' asked Karmi. She was secretly hoping it was still fractured.

'It's much, much better! See!' Hiro flexed his arm out in front of Karmi. 'I think I can even get back in on the action now! The guys have been missing my tactical know-how!'

Hiro was full of joy and finally able to express his delight that he could return to normal. Whereas, Karmi's reaction couldn't have been any more unconvincing if she tried.

'Oh, that's great…' Karmi looked downwards.

'Hey. What's wrong, babe?' Karmi looked back up.

'Hmm? Oh, nothing. I just…'

'Want me to keep myself safe, right?' Karmi nodded and looked back down.

'Hey! I made you a promise and I'm not about to go and break it! I promise I'll be doubly careful from now on.' Hiro was dead sure of himself, but Karmi wasn't convinced.

'Hmm, you say that now… I just don't know if this is going to work if I'm constantly gonna be at my wit's end, wondering if my boyfriend's okay. I'm not gonna lie, just seeing you in that state last time was hard. Really hard…'

Hiro realised Karmi was being serious now and hung his head down. He took a massive sigh.

'Look, Karmi. I can't just stop helping people. It's who I am now and I don't know who I'd be without it. And I know Tadashi would want me to help as many people as I can. I mean, all I can say to you now is that I really want to be with you, but you have to take me as I am. Normal everyday Hiro and Big Hero 6 stuff included. And the last time really was just a particularly bad day. We've been fighting bad guys for years now and I've kept myself safe this long. I can handle it.'

Hiro looked back up at Karmi. She could see how much it meant to Hiro, even if it meant she had to suffer at the expense of it.

'Okay, I completely understand. I just really care about you and I really wanna be with you too. It's just not going to be easy at times I guess…'

'No, it's not. I'm not exactly gonna be the best boyfriend with all the extra baggage. I totally wouldn't blame you if you said you couldn't do this anymore…'

'Hey! No! That's not what I'm saying at all! You are an amazing boyfriend! Honestly you're probably too good for me actually…'

Hiro was gobsmacked to hear that. Karmi Khan. The girl who he had always wanted to be a somebody to, was telling him this. Since Christmas, he had seen so many vulnerable parts to her that he didn't think existed beneath her tough exterior.

'Well, that's a load of crap and you know it! I never thought in a million years you'd ever want to be my girlfriend, let alone my friend. I always thought you hated me.' Karmi laughed.

'Well, maybe I did a little at the start.' They both laughed. 'But I'm glad we are where we are now. I mean, yes. There's going to be problems of course, but it'll be worth it in the end. Right?'

'Absolutely. I want you in my life and you are more than good enough for me.' Karmi felt a wave of heat engulf her cheeks as she blushed at Hiro's romantic words.

'Thanks, doofus. You're my doofus and I want you in my life too. And I always liked you. I just showed it in the wrong way.' Hiro smiled.

'Well, I'm glad we had this conversation. I want you to feel like you can talk to me about anything, anytime. And we'll deal with any problems as and when they come. I'm not giving up on you.'

Karmi heard everything she needed to and felt content with everything now.

'Sounds like a plan. Thank you for being you, Hiro.'

'You're welcome. And thank you for being so understanding and putting up with silly old me.' Karmi smiled.

'Anyway, I really should be getting some sleep now. I've booked the early train, so I can spend as much time as possible with you. You better have something good planned tomorrow!'

'Oh, of course! Only the best for you, Karmi,' joked Hiro in his Captain Cutie voice.

He winked and Karmi sniggered. Since she found out Hiro was Captain Cutie, Hiro did the voice a lot. Most of the time it was insanely hot, but sometimes he actually made her laugh with it. She never realised how much Hiro made her laugh before until recently.

'Ugh, you're such an idiot!'

'Haha! But you love it!'

'Hmm, maybe... I should really be going now. See you tomorrow! Night, babe!'

'Okay. Night, beautiful,' said Hiro.
