The night of the third task left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth for more reasons than one. A lot had happened between the argument with Mrs Weasley and the day of the task. Firstly Fred, George and Ginny all wrote letters to the ministry and their parent to say they weren't coerced into leaving. The ministry had performed extensive tests but could not prove they had been forced to write the letters. Secondly, Sirius called upon the favour the Auror department and ministry owed him. He got in contact with his cousin to set up a meeting between Susan Bones and Harry. Susan's bones were the head of the Auror Department and surprisingly was not under anyone's influence. She had agreed and Sirius had asked for her three best Aurors to be there. She had agreed, as such when Harry and Sirius arrived at the ministry they were met by Susan Bones. Tonks, a man called Kingsley and the senior secretary to the head of the education board. Harry was confused as to why she was there; she wasn't law enforcement. Susan bones had explained that due to Dumbledores involvement the woman had to involved. It wasn't just a matter of exonerating Harry but also a matter of why his name was in the cup, to begin with.
As such, they all sat down and Harry wrote out his story, how he had been treated by Mrs Weasley and Dumbledore. How he had saved the school without people knowing but most importantly how the twins and Ginny had left the familial home of their own free will. After listening to the adults in the room concluded that what Harry had conveyed was true. They had told Harry that they needed to put it to the jury, but they had high hopes he would be exonerated of his 'love' crimes.
It was due to his exoneration that three things happened. The first thing was that anyone under the age of 17 was removed from Molly's care. As such Ron was sent to live with his aunt Muriel. The twins and Ginny were placed under Petunia and Sirius's care, Mr Weasley was placed upon probation whilst the accusations into his wife's treatment of her children were investigated. He, himself had been cleared and had asked to speak to his runaway children but they had refused.
Second, an investigation was held into how such a magical object could be fooled; it was weird enough to be fooled by someone who was at Hogwarts, but Harry had never attended.
Lastly, Harry was allowed to enter Hogwarts grounds, where he currently resided.
The night of the third task was cloudy, not that Harry could see that much over the maze he was in. He had entered the maze nearly three hours earlier and the night was fast approaching. He had spent close to three hours trying to find the centre and seriously considered surrendering, but he had too much pride. He had made it this far; it would be giant screw you to Dumbledore if he won.
So, he carried on. He carried on through the other champions trying to attack him and magical creatures trying to trick him. He made it through to the centre where a golden trophy stood on a podium. He stopped for a moment, studying the object. It didn't seem real like it was shimmering. He could hear something, like a whisper, he couldn't quite make out what it was saying. So hesitantly he took a step forward, feeling a shiver go down his spine, whatever it was it felt wrong. He was so focused on the object he didn't notice a boy running down a pathway towards him.
When he did he felt himself panic, whatever the cup was it wasn't anything good. So, Harry in a moment of panic grabbed the cup, in a whirl of wind Harry disappeared from Cedric's sight.
