Five years after the battle of Hogwarts the world had changed dramatically. Albus Dumbledore was tried and charged with several cases of child neglect and the house system was abolished in terms of lessons. The order had stepped forth into the world and was preaching love and acceptance. The ministry had a full overhaul of its staff to see who was working with Voldemort and had implemented a no dark mark rule.
As for Harry's family, The Remus and Sirius had opened up an orphanage for the children that had lost their parents in the war. Petunia had started the muggle-born imitative, a bill that sought out muggle-born children before their eleventh birthday and introduced magic to them and their families. Dudley had finished his last year of Smelting's and had started university, deciding to become a social worker.
As for Harry and Ginny, five years to the battle of Hogwarts saw Ginny walking down the aisle to the love of her love. It was five years later that a church full of their nearest and dearest cried as Ginny read out her vows.
"Five years ago, you died. You died and for the first time in my life, I realised what it meant to love someone so wholly and erratically that you feel you might drown. Five years ago, I asked you to trust me and since that day you have shown me what it feels like to be loved. You have driven me crazy; you have driven me mad but no matter what has happened you have never made me feel inferior nor unloved. So today I make a promise to you. That no matter what happens I will continue to grow with you and hopefully one day when we're old and grey I will be sitting next to you in our armchairs and living the life we have helped create. I love you Harry and I look forward to spending my life loving you, even more, every day." Harry grinned and opened his own vows.
"Five years ago, I sat in a garden and prayed that I hadn't screwed us up, I prayed that you would give me a second chance and to my surprise you did. Since that day I hope I have shown that I have deserved that chance. There once was a time when I couldn't see the light in the world but every day you have provided me warmth and love and I will forever be grateful. The twins once told me that I was whipped and I can think of no better person to be whipped for. I love you Ginny and I promise that I will spend the rest of my life loving you."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife; you may kiss the bride." the crowd erupted as Harry swooped Ginny into his arms.
It had been five years since the war and for once Harry could say that he was indisputably happy.
