A/N: ngl it's kinda awkward to be posting these romance-y slice of life chapters with the shit that's going on in both the anime and manga rn lol 💀 like while these kids are getting traumatized in canon I'm here posting them in their silly little romcom scenarios 😂

And it took me practically 3 years to post these chapters lol time isn't real

Hitomi was camping out in the room Uraraka, Jirou, and Hagakure shared, trying to forget what happened at the beach as they all watched a movie.

She'd stayed alone on the blanket for the rest of the time they were there, because 1) she couldn't move around as much unless she wanted to risk reopening the cut, and 2) no more hanging around Bakugou.

She was supposed to be avoiding him, anyway. Moments like… like that only served to make a fool of herself in front of him, not to mention that talk they'd had about their friendship only made her feel worse.

They were friends… and there was no way she wanted to risk ruining that.

As soon as classmates started leaving, she got the hell out of there, gratefully accepting Jirou's invitation to watch a movie in her room. Hitomi had actually ended up using her shower, since she still hadn't had the chance to check out her own room and refused to leave the sanctuary Jirou had unknowingly given her.

Despite the distraction she'd been provided, though, Hitomi still couldn't get what happened with Bakugou earlier out of her head.

The feeling of his hands on her back, the way he seemed to be so gentle; she'd even noticed how he made sure not to touch her in places where she'd feel uncomfortable-

"Fucking shit!" Hitomi suddenly exclaimed, her face flushing as she slammed her hand on the carpet.

Her friends all stared at her with bewildered expressions on their faces.

"...you okay, Hitomi?" Jirou asked, raising a brow.

"Huh?!" Hitomi stiffened, realizing that to them she'd suddenly cursed for no apparent reason. Lucky for her, the characters in the movie had just encountered the big villain, their odds of not dying looking quite low.

"Um… just worried for them, is all," Hitomi stuttered, looking away.

"Hitomi, are you feeling okay?" Hagakure asked, her clothes leaning forward from her place on her bed. "Your face looks really red. You're not sick again, are you?"

Hitomi waved her off, laughing. "What are you talking about? I'm fine!" Right then her voice cracked, making her cringe.

Uraraka suddenly placed a hand on Hitomi's forehead, gasping.

"Hitomi, you're feeling really warm!"

"I told you, I'm fine!" the bluenette choked out, getting more flustered.

I may be warm, but that's not because I'm sick…!

Jirou grabbed the remote, pausing the movie. "It's late. The movie's almost over anyway, so you should go back to your room so you can get some rest."

Hitomi glanced at the clock, seeing it was already almost 11.

"...Okay."

She got up from her place on the floor, giving the three of them a good night as she shut the door behind her. Hitomi crept down the stairs, walking around the living room for a bit before finding Yaoyorozu was in the kitchen.

"Hey, Yaomomo…" Hitomi couldn't find the chart with everyone's room arrangements anywhere, so she had to ask her friend directly. "Where am I staying?"

Yaoyorozu hummed, placing a finger on her chin. "I believe I placed you in the room down at the end of the hall since that was the last one available. It's a single room, so you'll have it all to yourself. I hope you don't mind that…"

"Not at all!" Hitomi laughed. "Thanks." She went over to grab her suitcase that she'd left up against the wall, opening the front pocket and rummaging through it. "By the way, Yaomomo…"

"Hm?"

"I know we're officially celebrating it on Sunday, but…" Hitomi approached her friend, dragging her suitcase behind her. She opened her palm to reveal a small necklace, a black braided cord strung through the hole of a small circular orb. Inside the orb, it looked as if a piece of the galaxy was kept inside.

"Happy birthday."

Yaoyorozu stared at it in awe, gingerly picking it up. "Did you make this yourself?"

Hitomi blushed, looking away as she ran a hand through her hair. "Uh, yeah… I know it's nothing compared to the tea set you gave me, but… I hope you'll like it."

Yaoyorozu admired the necklace, giving Hitomi a grateful smile. "It's beautiful, Hitomi. Thank you."

They both jumped slightly at the sound of a knock, turning to see Nix by the edge of the counter. An earbud was plugged into her ear while the other hung around her neck, music faintly playing. "Hey girls. Just checking up on everyone before I turn in for the night."

They both nodded sheepishly, Yaoyorozu smiling at their chaperone while Hitomi rubbed the back of her neck. "Yes, of course," the vice rep replied, closing her fingers around the necklace. "We were just about to head to bed."

Nix nodded, plugging in her other earbud. "Alrighty. See ya in the morning."

They both watched as she left, heading up the stairs to the second floor. Hitomi and Yaoyorozu turned to each other, before bursting into giggles.

"I almost screamed!" Hitomi laughed, covering her mouth. "She scared the bejesus out of me!"

"I understand the feeling," Yaoyorozu giggled back, glancing back at the stairway. "Although, I guess it's expected out of her. One of her signature moves is a sneak freeze attack to capture villains, so it's a given she's good at stealth. Even so, she really surprised me." Yaoyorozu shook her head in a friendly manner, gesturing to the stairs. "Either way, though, I really should head to bed. It was quite a busy day."

Hitomi nodded as the taller girl made her way out of the kitchen. "Of course, of course… and just to make sure, my room's the one at the end of the hall?"

"That's right." Yaoyorozu paused midway up the staircase, glancing down at her hand which still held the necklace. "And I really love the necklace you made me, Hitomi. Thank you so much," she said, smiling softly.

Hitomi returned her smile before bidding Yaoyorozu good night, watching as she disappeared up the stairs. With a small sigh of relief, Hitomi grabbed the handle of her suitcase, pulling it with her out of the kitchen and past the living room. She made her way down the hallway, unable to quell the tiny smile that formed on her face.

She was happy Yaoyorozu liked the necklace she spent almost a weeks' worth of late nights making. It was a new experience for her, crafting something like that by hand since she wasn't an especially arts-and-craftsy kind of person. Hearing that Yaoyorozu loved the gift, especially when considering the fact she was rich and had all kinds of access to fancy, personalized stuff, made Hitomi feel like her efforts had really been worth it.

Hitomi had finally reached the end of the hallway, standing in front of the very last door. She grabbed the doorknob, twisting it and opening the door as she entered the room, kicking it shut behind her once she'd pulled her suitcase inside.

She opened her eyes to be greeted by the sight of Bakugou, looking like he was in the middle of pulling his pants up.

They both froze, staring at each other for a solid three seconds before Bakugou suddenly screamed.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"

"WAGH!" Hitomi swiftly turned away, shielding her face as she turned to face the door and crouched down. Behind her she heard Bakugou stumble, a loud "thump" sounding on the floor as the ash blonde likely fell over.

WHAT. THE. HELL.

The image of him in the middle of changing practically burned itself into Hitomi's mind, her cheeks flushing as she tried to dispel it. "BAKUGOU?! What are you doing in my room?"

"Your room?! What the hell are you talking about, this is my room!"

"Well, Yaomomo said this was my room, because this is the last one that had space-"

"The fuck?! She said it was my room, there's only one bed here anyway!"

Hitomi cautiously peeked over her shoulder, relieved to see Bakugou was pulling his shirt down, now fully clothed. She tried to rid the blush from her cheeks as she slowly stood up, turning to face the bed. "W-Well… it looks like there's been a mix-up, then."

"No fucking shit, Moon Face."

Hitomi pinched the bridge of her nose with a small sigh. Well, there went her happy mood. It was back to this embarrassing bullshit.

She couldn't believe her luck could be this shitty.

This trip was already turning out to be such a disaster for her attempts to avoid Bakugou. She wasn't sure how much longer she could take this.

"It's late, and I just saw Yaomomo go to bed. I am not about to go back and bother her right now just for this, so I'm going to get changed, and then we're going to try and solve this whole mess."

Bakugou simply grunted as Hitomi grabbed her suitcase, bringing it with her to the bathroom to change into her pajamas.

She was a blushing mess as she pulled her clothes out.

I'm stuck sharing a room with Bakugou.

Alone. By myself.

And there's only one bed.

Was she ever going to catch a break?! Hitomi felt as if she was on fire, which wasn't exactly implausible. The more flustered she got, the more small heat waves there were that were emitted from her quirk. It was an unfortunate side effect that was picked up from her mother, and the heat was making the bathroom very stuffy.

Calm yourself, Hitomi!

It'll be fine. You're fine.

You're just alone with Bakugou. Alone with the boy you like.

In a… bedroom.

...What kind of shitty romance cliche is this?!

Hitomi stuffed her clothes into an extra pocket of her suitcase, slamming the suitcase shut as she tried to get rid of her blush. She was supposed to be avoiding him, not sharing a room with him.

Fuck.

She slowly opened the door, keeping her eyes glued to the ground. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed Bakugou placing a futon and pillows on the floor.

"Woah, woah, hold on!" Hitomi exclaimed, moving her suitcase to the side. "What are you doing?!"

"The fuck does it look like I'm doing?" Bakugou muttered, his back to her. "I'm sleeping on the floor."

"No, wait, you don't have to do that!"

"Huh?! What the fuck are you smoking?! Yes I do!"

"No," Hitomi shot back, moving to stand on top of the futon so Bakugou couldn't climb in. "You were here first. You take the bed, I'm sleeping on the floor."

Bakugou glared at her, standing up from the floor. "No way in hell. You're sleeping on the bed."

"No, you are! I'm not letting someone sleep on the floor because of me!"

"Like hell I am! Take the fucking bed!"

"No! I'd feel bad if I did, so you take the bed!"

"You take it!"

This back and forth went on for a while, both too stubborn to let the other take the floor. Until...

"FOR FUCKS SAKE!" Bakugou yelled, butting heads with her. "I'M TIRED AND I WANT TO SLEEP ALREADY, SO LET'S JUST FUCKING SHARE THE BED!"

Hitomi pulled back, spluttering as she blushed.

"...Oh."

Bakugou paused, the weight of his words hitting him as he looked at the floor.

"Don't read too much into it!" he scowled.

Hitomi's face was definitely as red as a tomato as she stared at him. "I… I'm not. If that's what it'll take to keep you from sleeping on the floor, then, uh… we can share." She looked away, thoughts rushing through her mind at the idea of sleeping next to Bakugou. What happened earlier at the beach was bad enough, but this…

This was so. Much. Worse.

What on earth am I doing?!

Hitomi rubbed her arm shyly, which didn't go unnoticed by the ash blonde.

"If… If you think I'm gonna try anything…" Bakugou grumbled, "I won't. I'm not like that grape shit; I know my boundaries."

"...I know."

They stared at each other for a few seconds before looking away, Hitomi realizing they were still standing on the futon. "Well… it looks like we won't be needing this anymore."

Bakugou huffed, running a hand through his hair. "I'll put it away."

"Oh… okay."

Hitomi stepped off the futon slowly, turning away as Bakugou knelt down to clean up the makeshift bed he'd made. She hesitated for a moment, watching out of the corner of her eye as he folded up the blankets before shaking her head and grabbing her phone from on top of her suitcase, as well as the charger from the front pocket.

Hitomi walked over to the bed, trying to keep her emotions in check.

Calm down, Hitomi.

It's just… a bed. It's not even that small anyway, so it's not like you'll be squished up against each other…

She was stiff as she plugged her phone charger into the wall, plugging the cord into her phone and setting the device down on the bedside table. Hitomi climbed into the queen-sized bed, pulling the covers over herself. If this had been any other situation she would've admired how soft they were, but the thought of sleeping next to Bakugou prevented her from feeling anything other than panic and embarrassment. Her body went tense as Bakugou finally approached the bed, climbing into his side. Hitomi cradled a hand against her chest, feeling her rapid heartbeat. They were about a foot apart, their backs towards each other. She felt the bed move as he reached for the lamp on the bedside table.

"I'm turning off the light."

"Ahh… right."

He switched it off, the room now swamped in darkness. It was only dimly lit from the moonlight peeking through the curtains of the window. They were both quiet, neither of them making any efforts to move.

"...How's the cut on your back?"

Hitomi's fingers tightened around the sheets, trying to keep her emotions in check so they wouldn't set off her quirk.

"Fine, for the most part… It still stings if I move in certain ways, but it hurts less than before."

Bakugou let out a small huff, readjusting his side of the blanket. "Make sure you switch the band-aid out for a clean one tomorrow."

"Yeah." Hitomi looked over her shoulder timidly, only to see the back of Bakugou's head. She turned back to the wall, closing her eyes. "...Good night, Bakugou."

After a few moments, he responded.

"... Night."

A/N: me: and they were roommates!

all of you guys (probably): oh my god they were roommates…

How much more romcom cliche can you get than this entire chapter .

Oof this one was a bit of a struggle! I actually wrote the bulk of this chapter within the original outline I made, and before a few of the previous chapters because this was one of the main scenarios I had in mind when I first came up with the beach house trip idea. So initially I had to write its preceding chapters in a way that would lead up to it… needless to say it was a pain in my side when I started making big changes to this arc and would go back to edit 💀

I dunno if it's apparent to you guys, but to me I can really tell how this was my first time writing seeing how I relied on tropes when it came to writing original content. Now that it's been a few years I cringe a bit, but younger me wrote it so I can't help but lowkey wanna keep it in anyways XD
