I'm back with chapter 2!
I hope everyone enjoys it!
I sneered at Gretel as she pulled the rope she had tied around my neck to ensure I wouldn't run away.
"You know, you can untie me."
She glanced back at me.
"I don't think so."
I rolled my eyes, wincing as I felt the twigs snapping and cutting into my feet as we walked onto my master's land, my only peace of mind was that he wouldn't make his appearance until we were closer to his home.
"We should set up camp."
Hansel stated, looking up at the darkening sky before walking off to gather firewood leaving me with Gretel.
"Stay here."
She ordered while she went to help her brother. Sighing, I sat down and started inspecting my feet. Seeing all the cuts I reached into my shirt pocket and located a small vial of green liquid, opening the bottle I poured a small amount onto both of my feet, hissing at the burning sensation before sighing as the pain disappeared. The hunters returned and built a small fire. I watched as Hansel pulled out a syringe and injected himself before he started on making some food.
"So, Alice, what's your master like?"
I glanced up in alarm at Hansel before masking it with indifference.
"Well, he's more ruthless than any witch I've met. He is simply a monster."
Gretel, not liking my answer, sighed and handed me a bowl of soup.
"How long until we get to him?"
She asked impatiently.
"He won't appear until we get closer to his home. Day after tomorrow at the latest."
The sound of a twig snapping stopped me mid sentence.
"Why don't you tell them to start wishing for death now?"
The icy voice cut through the air. Growling I stood up and faced the voice that I would know anywhere as a tall man walked out of the woods; his red hair hanging around his shoulders, strong facial features standing out in the fires glow, blue gray skin cracked showing blue veins, piercing red eyes watching our every move, his black leather shirt and pants reflected the light from the fire, the spear in his hands sending a burning pain down the scar that ran down my back.
"What do you want Aidan?"
He smiled, revealing razor sharp teeth.
"Hello Alice. I just came to welcome our new guest."
His eyes focused on the rope still around my neck.
"Well well, what is this? You were captured? You must be losing your touch."
Growling I reached up and cut the rope off with one claw, my instincts telling me I needed to protect the hunters.
"Old enough to take you down pup."
I taunted him.
"Oh really?"
He smirked before lunging at me, I swiftly dodged to the right.
"Is that really all you got pup?"
It was my turn to smirk as he growled before swinging his spear at me, jumping over the spear I tackled him to the ground, digging my claws into his shoulders as he growled before grabbing my shirt and throwing me off of him and into a tree. The sound of twin clicks of Hansel and Gretel aiming their weapons at Aiden broke the silence of the night. Shaking my head I stood up and placed myself between them and Aiden.
"Tell Master I'm coming for him."
Aiden smirked again before turning to leave.
"Good luck Alice, you're going to need it."
He disappeared into the woods, I waited until he was completely gone before turning to the siblings.
"What was that?
Hansel asked as I sat in front of the fire.
"We were both captured at the same time, he's my younger brother."
The siblings blinked in shock as I sighed.
"Master took us away from each other. I don't know what Aiden went through, but when we were reunited a year later he looked like that. He wasn't my brother anymore."
Hansel gave me a hard look.
"How long have you been with your master?"
I sighed.
"It's been fifteen years."
He nodded before looking at Gretel.
"I'll take the first watch."
She nodded before laying down and attempting to sleep. I stared into the fire while Hansel took a seat next to me.
"How were you captured?"
I glanced at him before focusing back on the flames.
"I was seven and Aiden was four, I just remember my mother screaming before everything went silent, before we could get out of bed my master knocked down the door and commanded that we be taken."
He nodded as I leaned back, popping my back.
"He's put us through hell. Aiden doesn't see it. He's a soldier. Mindless. He's forgotten how our family is supposed to be."
I trailed off, forgetting for a moment that the hunter next to me didn't know what I was.
"What do you mean by that?"
I smiled and shook my head.
"Forget it."
I laid down and tried to get some sleep.
I will see you all next time!
