Christmas Gift

Hi everyone. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! :D

Here's my seemingly yearly Digimon one-shot where I get to write some Takari romance once again. I enjoy writing this kind of thing, so I'm going to keep doing it. It's too much fun to stop and I hope you like this story.

Summary: Takeru had a special gift that he planned to give to Hikari for Christmas and he hoped that it would be the best present that he could ever give her. Now he just needed to go through with his plans and hand her the gift. Takari one-shot.

The sound of laugher echoed down the street as Takeru and Hikari slowly meandered their way along the pavement on their way home. Takeru could see his breath rising up into the cold night sky as snowflakes gently fell to the ground. The thin white layer covering the road looked rather picturesque but it did make the footpath a bit slippery, meaning that the couple had to be a little bit more careful given that they were coming back from Mimi's annual Christmas party.

"Yamato's going to be so embarrassed in the morning," Takeru chuckled again as he glanced to his left at his girlfriend. "He's not going to be able to live that down for quite some time."

Hikari giggled with him. "I'd like to say that Taichi would be embarrassed too but, you know him, he doesn't seem to get embarrassed by anything."

"They're going to get a telling off from Sora tomorrow." A smirk spread across the blonde man's lips. "Just like they always do when they take things too far, and then Daisuke joined in and got them to take it even further."

"I think Sora secretly enjoys it." Hikari gave him a knowing wink. "Mimi and Miyako definitely did, and Meiko was too embarrassed to say anything."

A squeal suddenly left the brunette woman's lips as she lost her footing on the snow-covered ground. Takeru used the arm that he had around her waist to catch her, only just keeping his own balance as he made sure that his girlfriend stayed on her feet. Hikari used the arm that she'd had draped over his shoulders to regain her footing before their eyes met and they burst out in another round of laughter.

"You're drunk," Takeru stated matter-of-factly as he gazed at those glittering mahogany-brown orbs that were often so full of light and told him what was going through his girlfriend's mind. There was a red tint to her cheeks that he found so cute at that moment and he didn't know if it was because of the alcohol that they'd drunk at Mimi's party or if it was because of the cold weather. It was probably a combination of both but Takeru didn't care because the love of his life looked cute when she blushed.

Hikari giggled again before she pouted. "So are you."

She wasn't wrong but Takeru knew that she was drunker than he was. It was the first long break that either of the young adults were getting since they'd started their jobs and they wanted to relax and enjoy their free time. Hikari had landed a job as a kindergarten teacher right here in Odaiba and Takeru had been really busy since his series of books about a group of teens being trapped in a computer world had exploded in popularity.

A grin spread across Hikari's lips as the couple continued to stand in the middle of the pavement, staring at each other. She started closing the distance between them and Takeru knew exactly what she was going to do. They'd been together for years and friends for even longer, so they didn't need to exchange words to know what the other was thinking or wanting.

Takeru closed his eyes and parted his lips, moving them closer to his girlfriend's as he prepared for their kiss. He felt Hikari's soft lips meeting his and pressing against them, locking into place with his own perfectly. Both of them looked for any excuse to display their affection for the other whenever they could and all of those years of kissing had allowed them to perfect it. Takeru was madly in love with Hikari and he knew that she felt the same way about him.

That train of thought continued as they deepened the kiss a little. Takeru had a secret present for his girlfriend that he'd been hiding from her for the past month. He'd made his mind up about something important and tonight was the night that he was going to do this. It was why he'd held back somewhat on his drinking because he didn't want to be too drunk. However, at the same time, he knew that he'd need some liquid courage to push him through with such a big thing.

The couple held their lips together for a few more moments, pushing a little deeper before they slowly and reluctantly pulled back. Takeru didn't want the kiss to end but he knew that they really shouldn't be standing here in public and kissing as passionately as he wanted to kiss his girlfriend. He reopened his eyes, meeting the gaze of Hikari and he could instantly tell that she was also disappointed that they had to stop. She wanted more and, thankfully, they weren't too far away from their apartment, so she wouldn't have to wait long.

A soft smile spread across Takeru's lips as he kept gazing lovingly into those mahogany orbs opposite him. Hikari's eyebrow rose before she pouted, making Takeru wonder if he'd given away that he had something planned for her later. Given that she could read him like a book, there was already a very good chance that she knew that he was up to something but his girlfriend was probably waiting to see what it was.

Takeru gave her a wink before he shifted his focus back to the footpath and started towards their home once more. He was beginning to feel the cold at that moment, so he guessed that Hikari was probably feeling it even more. After all, her costume that she'd picked for the party was even thinner than his and the only thing keeping them warm were their thick winter coats.

The couple picked up where their conversation left off as they meandered down the sidewalk. Their laughter echoed down the street again as they continued on, passing others either on their way home from nights out or after working late. It wasn't long before they were on their road and reaching the entrance to their apartment complex. They were renting a place in this fairly modern building with a view of Tokyo Bay thanks to all of the money that Takeru had been making from his books.

Their arms remained around each other as Takeru used his fob to unlock the door before his girlfriend opened it. The couple stumbled their way across the lobby and into the elevator. As the doors closed, Hikari pushed her boyfriend against the wall and placed her lips firmly into his once more. Takeru closed his eyes and quickly returned the kiss, passionately deepening it as he tried to get the most out of the moment.

He guessed that this was going to be a sign of things to come once they were behind closed doors. They were rather known for their public displays of affection amongst their friends and they shared even more of them once they were alone. The two young adults were always together and always wanted to be around one another. It was something that they thought was normal for a couple that were best friends and the love of each other's lives.

Takeru knew that, after a few drinks, he really struggled to hold back his feelings for Hikari and that she was probably even worse than him at holding back her love when drunk. There were plenty of times when their desires, fuelled by alcohol, had gotten out of control because they wanted to make sure that their feelings were truly expressed. That led to them using their actions because words alone couldn't full convey everything.

The chime of the elevator pulled the couple from their own little world, making them quickly break the kiss. Takeru glanced around, hoping that their neighbours hadn't caught them. Hikari quickly grabbed his hand before running down the corridor to their apartment, leaving her boyfriend with no doubts that she wanted his intimate and passionate love once they were inside.

She pulled her keys out of her pocket and started fumbling with them before accidentally dropping them on the floor. Takeru couldn't supress his laughter as he bent down and picked them up before he unlocked the door for them. Hikari playfully punched his arm and pouted again as he handed her keys back.

"Don't say it again." She poked him in the chest before giggling. "I know what you're thinking. You had a few shots too."

Takeru smirked as he opened their front door. "Does that mean you're admitting you're drunk?"

"Who cares?" Hikari giggled again before pulling him inside their apartment and locking the door behind them. "We're both drunk and we've had a great night so far."

"I just want you to remember tonight." It was a genuine worry of Takeru's that one of them would be too drunk for him to carry through with his plan. "What's the point in having fun if we don't remember it tomorrow?"

"Come on, Takeru," Hikari huffed as she kicked her shoes off and started quickly undoing her coat. "It's not like you've had to carry me home again."

Takeru laughed and nodded as took his own footwear off. The young man began removing his own coat as he thought back to some of their nights out when the couple were students and living together. They'd had some wild nights even if some people didn't really think that they'd go out and party like that.

His sapphire eyes fixed on Hikari as she threw her coat aside, revealing her Mrs. Claus dress that she was wearing. It was a rather risqué dress, especially by her standards because she normally wore things that somewhat hid her prefect figure. The couple had gone to Mimi's party as mister and missus Claus once again and, this time, Takeru was the only Santa out of his friends.

The blonde man's gaze remained on his girlfriend as she bit her lip and gave him a seductive look. Her dress showed off her amazing body and confirmed to Takeru that he thought that she was the most attractive woman in the whole world. Hikari's red dress with white fluffy trim hugged the curves of her body, showing off what she often chose to hide.

Her large perky boobs were threatening to escape the rather low top of her garment as it exposed her cleavage. Hikari usually chose to wear tops to hide them and stop anyone who wasn't Takeru from staring, but she'd made an exception for tonight because she was with him. The dress hugged her flat stomach too, which only empathised the more than ample size of her breasts and the curves of her slim hips. It showcased her firm round butt and the hem didn't even reach halfway down the thighs. Hikari had teamed her Santa dress with some white and red striped thigh-high socks that ran up her long and slender legs, leaving her with some skin on show to tempt Takeru in more.

His eyes remained captivated by his girlfriend as she slowly made her way over to him. She was someone who was beautiful on the inside and outside, and he had first-hand experience of that. Hikari was always there for him, stopping him from being lonely, making him happy when he was down, comforting him when he was upset, and revealing in his joy alongside him. He made sure that he was always there for her too and he wanted to be there for her as long as he lived.

Takeru knew that he could go on and on about Hikari for days and how wonderful she was. However, he knew that words alone weren't enough, so he let his actions speak for him. Hikari seemed to be thinking the same thing as she reached him, placing a hand on his chest and pushing him up against the wall.

The distance between their lips closed once more as she threw his coat aside. Hikari snaked her other arm back around his neck and ran her slender fingers through his blonde hair. His Santa hat fell to the floor as their breathing deepened in anticipation of another kiss.

Takeru slid one hand around her waist and cupped her butt as the fingers of his other hand glided through her hair too. Her matching hat joined his as they tilted their heads to get a better angle. Hikari licked her lips as she continued to stare lovingly into Takeru's eyes. He didn't need her to say anything because he could see her love and desires on full show as those deep brown pools moved closer and closer.

Hikari took a deep breath as she paused just before his lips. "Takeru, I love you so much."

"I love you too, Hikari." He wanted to say more but that would come when he asked her that important question later. Takeru wouldn't have had the chance now anyway as his girlfriend closed her eyes and pressed her lips against his again. The young man closed his sapphire orbs too as the couple kept their lips there and savoured the electricity that came with every kiss. It was something that both of them couldn't get enough of, which was rather obvious given how many times they'd already kissed that night.

They slowly slid their lips back a bit before opening their mouths a little wider and pushing forwards for more. Takeru held his lips there before he and Hikari moved back again then deepened their kiss further. The couple repeated their movements over and over, letting their actions speak for them as they tried to show just how they felt about each other.

Takeru added more force behind his kiss as he pressed his lips deeper into his girlfriend's. He wanted Hikari to know just how much he loved her and how grateful he was that she was in his life. She was everything to him and he knew that he'd be lost without her. The young man wanted Hikari to be with him forever and he wanted to be everything to her.

Hikari was kissing him back just as passionately and zealously, letting him know that she loved him just as much as he loved her. Her body was now pressed firmly against Takeru's as they kept the kiss going, neither of them wanting it to end. Their actions told the other of their feelings and conveyed them in the way that both of them had hoped.

It brought a sense of relief to Takeru because he knew that the big moment was coming up where he'd give her his special gift. It was approaching the time where he'd put his plan into action and the thought made his heart race a little more. However, feeling the love that Hikari was putting into their kisses calmed him and made him more at ease because he knew how she'd react.

Now was the moment as Takeru slid his arms around his girlfriend, breaking the kiss before scooping her up. Hikari squealed before laughing and sliding her arms around the back of his neck, gazing lovingly into his eyes as she did so. He knew that she loved it when he'd scoop her off her feet like this and carry her to their bedroom to further their intimacy. It was the perfect way to make sure that she was in the right place so that he could give Hikari the Christmas gift that she'd never forget.

"I've got something special for you." Takeru gave her a wink as he used his foot to push open their bedroom door. "I hope you like it."

Hikari's eyebrows rose as she bit her lip seductively again. "Oh? What is it?"

Takeru gently placed his girlfriend down on their bed and gazed lovingly into those deep brown pools. He could feel his heart starting to race as the moment that he'd been preparing for over the last few months had finally arrived. The young man gently stroked Hikari's cheek before placing a loving kiss against her lips.

She returned the kiss but Takeru knew that it would have to be a quick peck. He pulled back and saw the beautiful brunette pout, making it clear that she wanted more. Seeing that expression helped Takeru calm himself again as he took a deep breath and climbed off the bed.

Now was the moment. He opened his bedside cabinet and pulled out a small box that was wrapped in glistening white paper with a red bow around it. Other guys might have taken their partners to some fancy restaurant, to their favourite place, or on holiday to do what he was about to do. However, Takeru knew just from the love and desire that his girlfriend had shown him that he didn't need to do any of that. Hikari would probably prefer this instead of some elaborate plan because he knew her and what she liked.

"Here." Takeru tried to sound nonchalant as he handed his girlfriend the present. "Merry Christmas. It's past midnight now, so you can have a gift."

"Oh? What is it?" Hikari's gazed at him with amused eyes as she sat up. She took the box from him and studied it intently, knowing that it must have been something important if he was giving it her now of all times. "I knew you were up to something and that you had something on your mind all evening."

Takeru laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "You know me too well, but I'm glad that you do. It means that you're always there for me when I need you. You done so much for me and you mean the world to me, Hikari. I really can't express just how much I love you because I love you so much. I want to be with you forever."

His girlfriend carefully undid the bow and slid it off the gift before unwrapping the paper. A black jewellery box emerged as Hikari's eyes and mouth opened wide. Takeru took this as his queue, his heart pounding away in his chest as he got to one knee and placed his hands on the box too. His eyes met hers and he could see that she was trying to process the moment to see if it was actually true.

He slowly and carefully opened the box, revealing its contents to Hikari. Her mouth opened even wider as tears of joy started welling up in the corners of her light-filled eyes. She stared at the silver ring that had a slender band and three pink gemstones embedded into it before her gaze moved back to her boyfriend.

Takeru took a deep breath and readied himself. "Hikari, will you …"

"YES!" She leapt forwards, pushing him to the ground before pressing her lips firmly against his. Takeru quickly kissed her back as he felt the tension and his worries suddenly ebb away. Hikari quickly pulled back and stared straight into his eyes as she straddled his hips. "Yes! Yes! YES! Of course I'll marry you!"

The happiness radiating off her was impossible for Takeru to miss and he was fairly certain that the smile that was now spreading across his own face was showing that he felt the same way. Hikari's eyes were so bright as tears of joy broke free and ran down her cheeks. Her smile somehow grew even larger as she studied the ring again and enjoyed the moment that Takeru guessed that she'd also dreamed of.

Seeing Hikari so happy filled his heart too and made him even happier. Takeru was overjoyed that she'd said yes to his question but he was even happier that he could make the love of his life that happy. He wanted to be there for her, to love her forever, and now she was giving him the chance to do that. Takeru wanted to keep making her that happy too, just like she made him feel every day that they were together.

The young man carefully pulled the ring from the box before putting the case aside and taking Hikari's delicate hand in his own. She moved her fingers so that he could easily get to her ring finger, allowing him to slowly slide it on. Hikari lifted her hand up so that she could see her engagement ring in more detail before more tears broke free. "It's so beautiful."

"Just like you," Takeru chuckled as he placed his hands on her cheeks and wiped away her tears. "I love you so much, Hikari, that I'm not sure I can truly ever express it. You're so important to me and I'd be lost without you. I want to be with you forever."

"I love you too, Takeru. I can't imagine what my life would be like without you." Hikari replied as she placed her hands on his chest and started moving closer. "You're everything to me and I'm so happy that I'm going to get to spend my whole life with you. This is the best gift I could ever ask for."

The now husband-and-wife-to-be continued to move closer as Takeru wiped another tear from his fiancée's cheek. They closed their eyes again, parting their lips as they did so in anticipation of another kiss. Hikari pressed her lips deep into his, holding them there before sliding back and then pushing forwards for more. Things got passionate very quickly and Takeru could tell that Hikari was definitely wanting to make sure that he knew just how much she loved him. Words couldn't describe how happy he was that he would get to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loved more than anything in any world, and who loved him just as much as he loved her.

This seems like a good place to end this one-shot. I really enjoyed writing this story and I hope that you enjoyed reading it.

I really like putting Takeru and Hikari into these kinds of plots. I know it's rather clichéd but this kind of thing fits them rather well. It's the kind of thing that I can see Takeru doing that Hikari would appreciate more than some large elaborate plan. It's also a fitting story for the time of year because, right now as I publish this, it's Christmas Eve.

Please can you let me know what you think about this one-shot by posting a review? I'd really appreciate the feedback :D

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! :D
