A/N: This is mostly a fill in chapter, which consists of sister time!
Enjoy!
Chapter 4
"I guess I'll see you around," she had said to him, and she was currently trying to claw her eyes out. Padmé felt so foolish. Of course, they would see each other again. For god's sake, they were in the same class! Please help me, she thinks. I never blubber like this.
She was very curious as of how this boy, that she didn't even know the name of, could cause such reactions in her. Especially since "bad boys" with makeup and piercings wasn't really her type. She tended to prefer the "clean", unproblematic boys, A.K.A the boys that her fine touch parents would approve of.
But then again, Padmé was, to be completely honest, not interested in pursuing a romantic relationship. She was busy enough as it was with school. Why should she let a boy distract her from graduating with fine grades?
Even though she was of these opinions, she still couldn't stop thinking about him. The boy with makeup and piercings.
When she had walked up to him the day before, he had looked at her like no one else ever had. It almost was as if he was witnessing her very soul, or at least it felt that way to Padmé.
She had dated a few guys before, not many, but still a few. Didn't most girls?
The few ones that she had dated, they had never cared about her. They had never seen her for what she really was. They had dated her because of where she came from. They had liked her because of her family name, her money, and her looks, who she had been told by others were very pleasing to the eye.
It was always the same. First, they asked her out, and then she would dump them, because every time, the same things always happened.
They would start dating, and everything would seem great at first. They would lavish her is expensive gifts, which most likely costed more than the average persons wages. Then the persuasion, and the pushing would start. All of them wanted to take her to bed, wanted to take her virginity, as if that wasn't sometime sacred to her that she didn't want to give away to just anyone. She didn't want to be known as a young wanton, ditzy girl who just slept her way around society.
No, Padmé respected her own integrity. She cared about her own reputation. She wouldn't just be any man's woman.
Even though she was of these opinions, she still couldn't forget that boy.
…
Padmé was sitting in her room, reading a novel as her sister opened the white wooden door before she peaked her head inside. "Hey, Padmé. I was thinking about going down to Santa Monica for a dip. Do you want to come?"
"Sure Sola," Padmé said while closing the copy of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen that she was reading, for perhaps the thousandth time. She just loved that book! Couldn't get enough of any of Jane's novels. "I'm just going to grab my swimsuit. I'll meet you by the car in a minute," Padmé continued.
"Great! Let's become real Cali girls!" Sola said, just before she withdrew her head from the door spring. She then closed the door loudly. The rapid footsteps of her running down the stairs could then be heard, even from Padmé's room. She smiled a little at that.
She loved her sister, but sometimes, Sola was crazy. She always thought with her heart before her head. Out of the two of them, Padmé was defiantly sense, and her sister was under no condition's sensibility. Padmé would always try to think things through first. Sola was more impulsive, taking care of the problems afterwards.
There were many different parallels that could be drawn from Jane Austen novel's, things that you always could draw in your own life, Padmé mused to herself. In other ways, Padmé was like Elizabeth, and her sister was like Jane, from Pride and Prejudice. Just like she was sense and her sister sensibility, Padmé did not give away her love so easily to just any person, where-as her sister did. Padmé could be stubborn and strongheaded while her sister was openminded and free from judgment.
Yes, the two of them were different, almost as different as day was from night, but the two of them had a special bond that other's would have to work very hard to severe.
When she was done prepping, Padmé went out to the driveway where her sister was waiting at the car, only dressed in a green two-piece bikini, but with beige shorts over the bottom piece so it didn't look to skimpy. On her left shoulder she carried a white cotton tote bag where she had packed a warm fluffy towel and a lightweight sweatshirt in case it got a bit cold after the sun set.
The wo of them were the only ones who were home. Their mother was away grocery shopping, and their father was at his new office away in L.A. Just before moving he had been transferred from his old firm back in New York to the biggest lawyer firm in California called Theed Lawyer Firm. The firm itself was just another branch of the former firm that he had worked for, so getting work had not been hard for him.
Before walking out to her sister and the car, Padmé had left a note to their parent's, telling them that they were heading out themselves. She then went out to the car.
Just after they drove out of the neighborhood, Sola suddenly said, "So, how are things going with that boy, baby sister?"
The question caught Padmé of guard, making her choke and then sputter the water that she was drinking. "Seriously Sola," Padmé said while wiping the dripping liquid from her shapely jaw. "There is nothing going on with that boy. We have spoken, maybe… two time. For god's sake… I don't even know his name!"
"Wait what?" Sola said, turning her head towards Padmé, just enough so that she still had her eyes on both her sister and the road. "You don't even know his name? You don't know the name of the boy that you are daydreaming about day and night?"
Padmé blushed a little at her sister's words. "I don't daydream of him! Not day or night. Absolutely not!" she bit back, trying desperately hard to believe herself, which she wasn't succeeding very well with.
"Oh, shut up Padmé! We both know you're an awful liar." Sola snickered slightly making Padmé huff in annoyance.
"Whatever Sola," she said, a small, tiny smile lighting up her face. For a moment, Padmé sat there, pondering if dared to or not, but then it came, slithering out of her mouth." You know you're a bitch, right?"
"Hey!" Sola replied loudly, laughter thick in her voice. They continued to drive down towards the Santa Monica pier, for a swim at the beach, talking about everything, and nothing, laughing together, and enjoying their sisterly bond.
…
The weeks passed quicker than anyone could blink. Soon, August was over, and suddenly September had come. The warm weather of California stayed, persistent as ever, and so did the timid relationship between Anakin and Padmé. For weeks, they would always meet each other: In class, in corridors during breaks, and before and after school. But they never said a word to each other except: Hi and Bye.
The curiosity, or perhaps even the attraction between them, was apparent (but not to them however). Both felt it. Both were aware of it, but at the time, the moment of revelation had not happened yet. Sometimes, things must take time, because a tiny seed doesn't grow into a flower overnight.
A/N: Okay, not my strongest chapter. It's rather short, and I'm not perfectly pleased with it, but like I said, this was mostly a fill in.
BTW, I'm not specifying a specific place where they all live. Just imagine that it's somewhere between Santa Monica and Los Angeles, but much closer towards Santa Monica than L.A.
They live on a cozy neighborhood with many beautiful houses, gorgeous nature, and not that much traffic.
Or… Change my mind. They might live in Santa Monica. Y'all know, this would be so much easier if I were a Cali girl! ;)
