Goin' KABOOM!

Chapter 43: Danny vs Katie

John Kaboom was in the still wrecked, but somehow still standing house that he was still paying off. His wife, Margaret, was still doing her best to stay calm and taking deep breaths to do so.

"She could be anywhere. She could be hurt... or hurting someone...I hope that she's okay..."She said, trying to calm her nerves using her usual mental techniques.

"Just stay calm, Sweetheart..."Her husband said, patting her shoulder to assure her.

Tiffany was still unconscious and Mitch was tending to her. Tinker was in his room and tried to play with his toys to pass the time and not panic, a sort of coping mechanism he's developed since his sister started her outbursts.

"It'll all be okay... it'll all be okay..."The man thought as a mantra, as he sat on his couch, fearing for his daughter.

"Do you think that he found her yet?..."His wife asked, sounding worried.

"All we can do is hope, Dear..."Mr. Kaboom said, but he knew that it would do little to help.

Despite the curse, Katie is his first born child and only daughter. He still loves and worries about her. The same is with his wife. This was still their little girl and they couldn't stand the thought of anything bad happening to her.

"We should go, find her. We can't just stay here and wait. We have to do something..." She suggested.

"We don't exactly have a clue where she is..." Her husband reminded her.

"Does that count?..." Mitch asked as he pointed out the window.

Katie's parents got up and saw where he was pointing at. The family saw the smoke and recognized it was the direction Danny Phantom went, several miles away and they had a bad feeling about it.

"That looks like something awful happened..."Margaret said, and she and her husband both had knowing looks on their faces.

"It's Katie..."They both said.

"Obviously..."Mitch said, since that was the most likely outcome.

Katie's parents turned to each other and recalled what that ghost boy said, that they had a responsibility to their daughter and that they should have done more and not just depend on a super hero to fix their mess.

They knew that now. They also knew that they couldn't just sit here and wait until something awful happened to her when it was clear that their child needs them. They needed to be the one who helps her, not expect someone else to do that.

The two parents nodded to each other, in agreement of coming to her aid.

"Let's get our girl..." John said, sounding determined.

His wife nodded in agreement.

"I'll try and see if I can leave Tinker with one of the neighbors. You see if the car survived the rampage..."Margaret said.

"Yes, Dear..."John said, as they did their respective tasks.

Once done, they both put their coats on, and while they were on their way out,Tiffany's husband approached them. He was looking desperate about something.

"I'm coming with you, Mr. Kaboom..."Mitch said.

Both of his in-laws shared unsure looks.

"You don't have to..."John said.

Mitch sighed.

"I have to do something. I feel useless and I hate that. I just...want to do something to help. Besides, Tiffany is unconscious and she'll probably sleep through the night. I just...hate not...being able to do something..."He said, hating his cowardliness and wishing to be of some use.

John sighed. Mitch, despite everything he's been through, is still part of the family and he's a good guy. So, he accepted his offer to help.

"Alright, let's hurry..."John said, and Mitch nodded.

"I'll leave a note for Tiffany, in case she wakes up and wonders where we are..."The younger man said as he began to do so.

"Good idea, I'd rather not have her destroy the rest of the house while we're gone..."Margaret said, as she went to go ask some of the neighbors to watch Tinker.

"I really hope that Katie is okay..."John thought, worried for his child.

A little later

After leaving Tinker with an elderly neighbor, Mrs. Smith, to babysit him for the time being. The Kaboom parents and Mitch were ready to leave in the miraculously still-intact car.

"Let's go. No time to waste..."John said, wanting to find his daughter and save her from herself and whoever it was that took her.

"I hope Danny Phantom found her and that she's alright..."Margaret said.

"I just hope that we find them before Tiffany wakes up and wonders where we are..."Mitch muttered, not wanting to deal with her bad moods again.

They closed the door and headed to Katie's father's car, which still worked.

Unknown to them, Tiffany had regained consciousness and found the note. She then heard the car starting up. She went to the window and saw Katie's parents leaving...along with him.

She awoke just in time to see them leaving. Seeing herself alone in the house, she frowned.

"What's going on?! Where are they going?!..."She wondered, confused and lacking patience.

The dark haired woman was totally lost as she wondered where her family is, especially her husband. She frowned and immediately starting to blame her first suspect on who is responsible for this.

"I bet this is Katie's fault..." She muttered.

She would have called Mitch on his phone, but she couldn't find it.

"Where's my phone?..."She asked, not realizing that it was destroyed in her last rampage.

She was getting impatient but not angry yet.

Not liking that they were leaving her out of this, but her curiosity outweighing any anger, she took a deep breath and preventing morphing...but she still wasn't happy yet.

Hardly.

"Whatever...I better follow them..."She muttered.

The dark haired woman then went to her and Mitch's car, turned it on and followed them, wanting to see what was going on here.

Meanwhile

With Danny

The ghost boy was gasping for air, as he kept running to find a hiding spot, away from his crazier than usual stalker who was chasing after him, more deranged than usual.

"Danny-sweetie...come on. You know that playing hard to get makes me want you more!~..."Katie said in a sing-song voice, not registering his distress at all.

"Katie, get a grip! Listen to me!..."Danny tried but she followed.

"I'll listen... let me sit on your lap! You can sit on mine if you like!..." She offered.

"That's a hard no..."He said as he barely avoided another hug from her.

"Cut it out!..."He insisted.

"Oh, so cute!~..."Katie giggled, still thinking this is a game.

Danny rolled his eyes before realization dawned on him. They were alone.

"Wait...we're alone and Vlad is gone...loopy or not, maybe I should tell her...I mean...she's only SLIGHTLY wackier than usual right now, so maybe it won't make a difference. I might as well try and see if I can do what I had been trying to do all night. Who knows? Maybe the shock might snap her out of it?..."He thought, trying to be optimistic.

"Katie, you gotta listen to me. The reason you are here is because a major fruitloop kidnapped you...and you gotta listen to me when I am about to say and please don't interrupt me..."Danny pleaded.

"What is it, Hon? Gonna tell me how you wanna marry me someday?..."The loopy Katie said, still too gone to listen to half of what he said.

"NO!..."Danny said.

"Don't worry, I'm patient..."Katie said, while her "boyfriend" looked ready to run again.

Still, the ghost boy tried and hoped for the best. He spoke his words out loud and decided to just get it over with, like ripping off a band-aid.

"Your family has a curse because your great-great whatever grandpa cruelly dumped a girl at the alter and got cursed because of that and all the girls born in your family turn into monsters when you get mad, including you and Tiffany! You almost got us killed multiple times tonight!..."Danny yelled, hoping that she'll snap out of her daze and actually listen.

True, it's more blunt than he expected but he was desperate. To his relief, Katie stopped moving and her eyes were wide now. It seemed she heard him.

"Did it work?..."He thought, hoping for the best.

"Danny...that's..."Katie paused for a moment, pausing.

To his dismay, her expression changed to laughter and amusement.

"Oh, Danny...you're so silly, making up stories like that. It's cute but a little over the top..."Katie said, giggling like a school girl.

"I'm not making it up, your dad told me. He said that one of your ancestors, some lady named Patsy also turned into a monster just like you and Tiffany do. The curse only affects girls in your family...though I still don't get why that witch specifically made it like that..."Danny tried and muttered the last part to himself.

The blonde girl was still giggling, clearly not taking anything he said seriously.

"You're so cute, when you're being silly..."Katie said, making a face at him like he were a puppy.

"I guess the curse really does filter out listening, that or she's thick..."Danny thought, groaning as the loopy girl tried to act coy.

"Katie...please listen...you're out of control and feeling something you shouldn't..."Danny said.

"The only thing I feel is love... also, a weird stinging on my hand and a weird pain in my jaw, but I can survive..."She said, shrugging it off.

"Great..." He muttered.

"But I wasn't making things up...I meant it..."Danny said.

"Now, now...why don't we do something more fun that telling stories?..."She said in a hinting way.

"I'm NOT making up stories and I don't WANT to do whatever it is you're thinking! Please just listen when I say that!..."Danny yelled, getting desperate but she's still too out of it to listen.

Unfortunately, she still seemed to be out of it. Either because of the curse or Vlad's device's after effects, he didn't know.

All he could know is that the lovesick blonde wasn't backing down.

"You're such a tease..."She said, giggling before a familiar smirk formed on her face.

"Now, enough of that. Why don't we get ready for some lovin'? I know I'm ready..."Katie said, trying to grab him.

Danny managed to dodge her and started running again.

"Okay, she's still under the effects that is making her crazier than usual...which itself is a feat. Can't believe I'm missing the Ghost Zone right now..."Danny thought as he kept running.

He made the next turn and hid behind a dresser, which Katie did not see in time and ran past him.

"Hide and seek? How cute!..."She said, giggling uncontrollably as she went past him.

"I'm so tempted to be a monk at this rate..."He muttered, hating this.

All he wanted was to take her home and show her proof that she's a monster and finally break up with her, but with her being moodier than usual, and not giving him a chance to find a hiding spot to change, that was harder.

"I gotta change as soon as she's far away..."He thought, trying to think fast.

He was about to morph behind the dresser and fast. However, Katie turned around, seeing him before he could do so.

"There you are!..."She said, grinning widely.

"GAAAHHH!..." He went, running back down the hall as Katie followed him.

He found another room, phasing in before Katie could see him. Once she left, he phased out and sighed in relief.

"I think I ran faster than during gym class..."He muttered, wiping off some sweat from his brow.

"Danny!..."Was heard.

Danny saw his friends, sister and the mice rush to him and he felt relief.

"Boy am I glad to see you guys..."He said.

"I see that you managed to escape your lady friend..."Brain commented.

"No thanks to you guys...Some help..."Danny said, frowning while the little mouse got irritated.

"I managed to do the deed you needed and you could be a little more grateful since I got that infernal device off of her and she's not rampaging anymore..."Brain pointed out.

"For now until she either breaks a nail or eats bad sushi..."Tucker commented, reminding them that they are still in potential danger here.

Danny sighed and dragged a hand down his face, before turning to the mousy wanna-be ruler of the world.

"Okay, fine...thanks for getting that lousy collar off of Katie. Now, we gotta get out of here..."Danny said.

"Shouldn't you tell her the truth about the curse?..." Sam asked, but her friend groaned loudly.

"I tried telling her about the curse, but she didn't believe me! Not only is she still loopy but the curse really does make it go from one ear and out the other. More harder than when I wanna talk about breaking up..."Danny said, frustrated.

"That's gonna make things tougher..."Jazz said, wishing that they knew how to calm that girl down.

"We can't just give up! We gotta end this now!..."Sam said, wanting this behind them now.

"I've been trying for days. I even told her that I didn't want to do what she clearly hints at making out, but she thought I was being coy or something. This is driving me crazy!..."Danny said, looking bitter.

"At least it can't get worse..." Tucker said.

Unfortunately, Murphy's law was kicking in and Katie could be heard coming closer.

"Oh...my cute lil' pookie bear? Come out, come out wherever you are!~..."Katie's voice was heard.

"You never saw me!..."Danny said as he quickly changed forms and turned invisible.

However, he didn't get far as Pinky leaned on the wall, accidentally pushing a hidden tile that served as a button.

"Uh oh..."Brain said, fearing the worst.

However, they then heard a robotic voice that almost sounds like Maddie Fenton suddenly speaking.

"Anti-Phantom system activated. Danny Phantom located..." It went.

"What the-..."Danny was cut off as a ray gun from the ceiling lowered and fired at him, causing him to fall on the floor.

"Of course..." He muttered.

"Danny, are you okay?..."Sam asked.

"I'm fine, but kind of wishing this night was over now..."Danny said, as he found himself back in his human form.

"DANNY, DID I HEAR YOUR VOICE?! I'M ABOUT TO WIN!~..."Katie's voice was heard, getting closer.

"Hide and tell no one you saw me!..."Danny said as he grabbed Pinky and the Brain and jumped into the air.

Unfortunately, he was unable to realize what the ray gun did until he hit the floor.

"Darn it...that stupid gadget must've cancelled out my powers...I should have said no to that stupid dinner..."He cursed as fumed.

"According to my calculation...a blast that size shouldn't last more than a few minutes...to maybe half an hour...at least..."Brain said.

"Let's hope it's the former..."Danny said as got up and started running.

"At least she didn't see you..." Pinky said, but Murphy's law kicked in again.

"Found you, Pookie-Bear!..."Katie said, waving at him from down the hall.

"Brain, any bright ideas?..."Danny asked as he wanted to bolt.

"Many. A sauce that makes bacon good for your heart, coffee that doesn't cause addiction, a type of toilet paper that won't tear when-..."Brain was cut off when the ghost boy sent him an impatient look.

"I meant about this!..." Danny shouted as Brain pulled out a remote-shaped blaster.

"I have an idea, but we may need to get her to a more open area..."Brain said.

"On it..."Danny said as he started running.

"I'm gonna get you, Danny-Hon!~..."Katie said as she kept running after him, still loopy as ever.

Sam saw this and gave a disgusting scowl.

"I have half of mind of decking her right now!..."She grumbled, actually tempted to do so.

"Sam, you can't. She'll just morph and we'll be dealing with She-Hulks less attractive doppelganger again!..."Tucker reminded. "I don't know about you, but I actually want to live and see graduation..."He said, being firm.

"Besides, technically speaking, it's Vlad's fault that she's too out of it to actually pay attention to what my brother is saying and that curse's effect aren't helping either..."Jazz added.

Sam grumbled.

"Okay...but so what? Curse or not, she can't be THAT think, can she?..."She asked rhetorically.

"You already know the answer to that. She can't control herself and even so, she's not trying to actually hurt Danny...she just can't seem to let it sink in that he's not into her anymore..."Jazz said.

"Obviously..."Sam muttered, still hating this situation.

"Now come on, let's go in case Danny needs us..."Jazz said as they went in the same direction.

Sam and Tucker followed her, worried for their friend and unaware of how much more intense the evening was going to get.

With Danny

The ghost boy went to a more open area which was due to the damage from Katie's earlier rampage. He didn't care since he was busy listening to Brain's plan.

Katie had followed him there.

"I got you now, Pookie-Bear!~..."Katie said in a giggling manner.

"Brain...what do I do?!..."He asked in desperation.

"Okay...I looked over that idiotic football fanatic's notes and with this device that I may modifications, this should be able to subdue her and save you..."Brain said.

"Finally, do it..."Danny said as he wanted this over.

Brain fired and the pink ray hit an unwitting Katie. However, to Danny's horror, instead of knocking her out, he now saw THREE Katie's.

"WHAT THE HECK?!..."Danny yelled, horrified. "WHY DID THAT HAPPEN?!..."He demanded, glaring at the little lab mice.

Brain checked his notes and got upset when he saw what went wrong.

"PINKY! You were suppose to turn the dial!..."He shouted, while his friend flinched.

"Oops. Sorry Brain. I thought it was the remote so I could watch my show. Narf!..."Pinky said, shrugging.

"Pinky! We'll do that later... when we get some popcorn..." Brain stated.

"Now's not the time for that!..."Danny said, while things seemed to get worse for him right now.

"Danny!~..."The three Katies said, getting his attention.

Danny, however, just had a dead look on his face as he frowned hard.

"No...Uh uh...I am SO not dealing with THIS!..."He said as he grabbed the device, aimed and fired again.

The end result was the opposite. There was now only one Katie but she was still lovesick.

"How did you manage to undo this?..."Brain asked, surprised that he knew how to do that.

"It's called reversing the polarity. I watch Doctor Who enough to get the lingo, plus my folks talk about that sort of stuff a lot..."Danny said as Katie was still shaking her head to clear it.

She couldn't see yet, but heard him.

"Danny?..."Katie said, rubbing her eyes.

"My cue to go... distract her..." He said, managing to flee before she her eyes landed on him again.

"See? Some evil genius..." Brain mocked.

"Huh? Where did Danny go?..."She asked, looking around for him.

"Uh... that way?..."Brain went, pointing in the opposite direction.

Katie barely seemed to register that she was speaking to a talking mouse and nodded.

"Thanks!..." She said, heading that way.

That gave Danny time to hide and form a new plan.

"We better wait outside, in case she loses her temper makes this place come crashing on us..." He suggested.

The two little mice nodded and headed out, trying to come up with a better plan to tame that wild blonde girl before her emotions cause more problems.

However, this night's mishaps were far from over and they knew it.

Oh man.
