Today is Huey Freeman's birthday and unfortunately he is sick. Simply a bad roll from the cosmic dice, an unfortunate coincidene. Not many people have ever spent their birthdays sick, it's highly unlikely for the stars to align like that, even less so for Huey considering how cautious he is with cleanliness.

But he's had a cold for the past two days, nothing major, but it's still restrictive enough for him to take days off. He doesn't want to put his employees into harm's way of course.

Beep beep beep the alarm clock rings. Huey rolls off the bed sluggishly, noticing he woke up in an empty bed, he realizes that Jazmine had already waken up. He's actually very thankful for Jazmine with the past few days, she's given her best efforts to help cover for him, she's talked to his law professors regarding lessons, she's managed payroll and other work duties, and she's done her best to take care of him. Huey is felt at ease this time, because usually in the rare occasion when he gets sick he gets stressed with missing time and deadlines.

After Huey finishes his bathroom routine, he retreats immediately to their bedroom and lies down on their bed. As he gets comfortable he feels a slight sense of dread considering that it is his birthday. He was expecting a party, confetti, a cake, and guests. Yet when he walked around their apartment he notices everything looks the same.

He hasn't talked to Jazmine yet, partly out of fear because of her birthday plans, he didn't really consider to take a glance at her when she was in the kitchen. In truth, if she had forgotten his birthday then that would be an excellent gift for him, his head is already throbbing in pain and he's in no condition to handle her shenanigans. He simply wants close his eyes and let his body recover.

Suddenly, the bedroom door slowly opens to reveal Jazmine holding a breakfast tray. A bowl of warm vegatable soup, sliced veggies, and a tall glass of orange juice. She had woken up early to cook something nice for him. She feels miserable that Huey has to spend such a special day being sick but at least she's taken the opportunity to serve him breakfast in bed.

She looks at him with all the concern in the world as she politely sets the tray on his lap. She had been planning his birthday for weeks and if it was up to her she would be inviting the entire neighbourhood, their entire office, and literally every stranger they've met. However Huey's birthday takes a little more finesse. She loves him too much, she's not going to condemn him to such torture like that. A younger, immature Jazmine would've thrown together an entire fiesta for his birthday, even now she wants to throw at least a small party. But she loves him too much, she's willing to make sacrfices for his sake. She can be quiet and not be too 'Jazmine-y' for a few days.

Huey coughs loudly as he tries to speak. "Thanks." He says, looking at the breakfast tray on his lap.

For his birthday, Jazmine had read books on how to act more lady-like, she understands how she can easily irritate Huey, she's not exactly mature by nature and her personality can be problematic to Huey sometimes. She really wants him to enjoy his birthday and one of the best things that Huey enjoys are peace and quiet.

Jazmine keeps a quiet composure, keeping her bubbly personality restrained. "You're welcome."

She stands tall, maintaining a proper posture, she holds her chin up high and clasps her hands behind her back. She's even wearing an apron for him, just like how the lady-like guidebook instructed.

Good manners, no unnecessary touching, speak when only spoken to. Her core tenets for today. She's doing it for him. After all, she suspects that all her past teasing and giggling gives him frequent headaches and it especially breaks her heart if she's making Huey suffer during his birthday.

She speaks softly, as soft as a mouse. "Do you need anything else sweetie?"

He notices her eyes full of compassion and worry, he almost feels bad that he has to be such a burden for her. "I'm fine."

She smiles sweetly in response. "I'll let you have some alone time... just shout if you need me."

Jazmine was about to close the door when she hears Huey trip on his words. He lets out another cough before speaking. "Wait."

"Yes Huey?"

He coughs out a sentence. "What's *cough* your endgame Dubois? You're gonna throw a party?"

Jazmine walks closer to him, she looks down on a sickly Huey with a tender smile. "No... you don't have to worry. I just want you to rest Huey." She combs his messy afro with her hand.

Huey hasn't even touched his food yet, but as Jazmine walks closer to him and his breakfast, Jazmine's stomach grumbles. He asks. "Have you eaten yet?"

"No." She loves him too much that she's willing to go hungry and take care of him first. After all it's his birthday, his needs comes first today. She's been so needy and pushy for the past few weeks, it's time to put his needs first instead of her. She didn't even sneak in a single bite when she prepared his breakfast.

"Oh." Huey makes a slight frown, he takes the bowl of soup that Jazmine made and offers it to her.

Jazmine feels sad too and refuses the soup. "It's for you Huey."

"You want to share? I don't want you going hungry." He negotiates.

"I'll just make my own breakfast."

They stare at each other longingly, even though he's sick, he's still trying to find ways to take care of her. She's the one who's supposed to be caring for him!

She softly speaks, gently, in a lady-like manner. "Huey... let me take care of you please."

"Nonsense. Grab an extra bowl, we'll split the soup."

She sighs, he can be so stubborn sometimes. "Can I just sit with you in bed? We can just cuddle and share the food."

"No. You'll get sick too. Then we'll both be behind on work." He sighs too.

For the first time in a while she doesn't know what to do with Huey. They've always been tightly-knit. They may have been lovers and partners for a year now but they've been best friends for much longer. But they haven't really been in this situation before, this time she's unsure what to do.

He relents. He can tell he's being too strict on her. "Hey. Come here."

She makes a soft whimper. "Yes?"

He sighs. "Thanks for doing this... for taking care of me, I appreciate your concern."

She blushes, almost shedding a tear, she finds herself acting less lady-like. "You're welcome."

He gives her a half-smile. "Just make your own breakfast... I'm sure you'll be fine... I just can't help but worry for you."

"Alright... may I kiss you? On the forehead?"

"Fine then..." He's concerned about germs spreading but he's not going to ruin the moment with his grumpiness.

She kisses him sweetly, a kiss to wish him a fast recovery. Huey remarks "You don't have to act so formal for my birthday Jazmine... and stop wearing that apron. I don't like seeing you dress up as a housewife."

Jazmine giggles, abandoning her formal behaviour. Returning back to her old bubbly self. "Okay... shout if you need anything! Love you! Oh! And happy birthday!"

She hums to herself as she goes about her day. She's planned a full day off for Huey's birthday, she's finished her work and her assignments. She's even skipping classes for him. It would've been so perfect. She didn't plan too much for his birthday, it would've been a simple date at the museum and then they take a nap in the park. Simple, peaceful, and fully rested for what was in store later at night in the bedroom.

But alas, her plans didn't turn out as she had hoped so. It's a lesson she'd been taught by Huey, when you make a lot of plans, some of them are bound to fail. Just another truth in life that she's learned from him. Jazmine won't complain though, she's going to be there for Huey no matter what. She'll happily take care of him and be a little less annoying and needy while he's sick. At any day of the week, birthday or otherwise.

Huey hates conforming to gender stereotypes, especially around the roles of a wife and husband. Everytime Jazmine tries to do a house chore like vacumming or cooking, Huey jumps in and helps however he can. Even if it is Jazmine's turn to wash dishes he always comes and helps dry them off or put them back in the cabinets. Jazmine feels so spoiled in a way, he was definitely telling the truth when he said he'll treat her like a princess.

But deep down, Jazmine really wants to do something for him, for a change. A relationship isn't a relationship if both parties don't make sacrifices and don't support each other. If Huey does everything for her and all she does is kiss and say 'I love you' then it's more like slavery instead of a relationship.

"Jazmine.." Huey is standing in front of her, as he got up from their bed.

"Huey? What do you need? Just call me, you don't have to stand up."

"It's fine... I need more tissues."

Jazmine bolts into their storage closet and hands him another box of tissues. She gives a concerned look as Huey takes it and goes back to bed.

Poor Huey

She decides to vaccum and clean the apartment after she's done eating breakfast. Huey always takes out the trash so perhaps she can do it this time. She'll do anything for him, he's always been putting his needs, his time, and even his life on the line for her. This time, it's her turn to protect and take care of him.

She does her chores, even doing the laundry by going to the building's basement floor where all the laundry machines are. She hates going down there as it gives her the creeps but she bites her lip and does it anyway. For him.

Then she vacumms the place, dusting off all their furniture. She even goes to the hard-to-reach places, like above kitchen cabinets. It takes her a little while but she eventually cleaned their apartment from top to bottom. For him.

Jazmine also checks up on him to see if he's finished his breakfast. He looks so cute as he lays down in bed and peacefully reading a book, she hasn't had sex with Huey for two days, because he didn't want to get her sick. Jazmine understands though, it's just his way of taking care of her too.

"Can I take these?" She gestures to the empty plates.

Huey looks up from his book with a tired, blank face. "Yeah. Thanks."

Jazmine puts the plates in the sink and comes back with a thermometer. To his slight protest, Huey lets her take his temperature. She says. "You're getting better."

"Good.."

She stands beside him, noticing the stillness of their bedroom. How she's nursing him and Huey acting half-annoyed and half-thankful. Jazmine's going to cherish this moment forever. She says. "I should head to the store and buy some medicine."

He sighs. "Jazmine... *cough* You know how I feel about supporting giant *cough* pharmaceutical companies..."

She caresses his forehead, his head is warm to the touch."And that's why we're protesting and fighting against them... but Huey... you should get some medicine... please?"

He relents. "Alright.. I'll take a nap while you're gone..."

"Thank you... I won't be out for long."

Jazmine gets ready to leave their apartment. She remembers Huey's last birthday, the previous year. In fact that was the night when they were on the hill stargazing. She suspected that he had forgotten his birthday again, so Mr. Freeman and her baked a vegan muffin for his birthday.

Then they laid there on the grass, staring at the stars and sitting beside each other. That was the day she confessed her love, when she finally had the guts to tell him how she feels.

Huey exhales, letting out a deep sigh, "I'm fine with it if you're okay with it. Just... don't be romantic."

She laughs to herself, it's funny how Huey's plans don't always turn out as intended.

"Listen. Nothing changes between us and don't let yourself get emotionally attached."

She giggles at the memory, if only 18 year-old Huey knew what was gonna happen in a year. How Jazmine Dubois would get the man of her dreams, how she'd be living a real life fairy tale with him. 18 year old Huey would've been disgusted with 19 year old Huey!

In truth, Huey's birthday is also their anniversary. It just seems right to celebrate that day, when she confessed.

Knock Knock Knock. Jazmine is just about to go outside when she hears a knock on their door.

She opens the door. "Cindy? Caesar?"

"What up Jazzy?!" Cindy smiles, they haven't talked with Jaz and McHater for months.

"How are you guys? What are you doing in DC?" Jazmine smiles back.

Cindy replies. "We came to wish the Grinch a happy birthday! Caesar-bae dragged me all the way from Woodcrest. Talkin bout righting wrongs and gay shit like friendship. Shit! We even bought him a gift!"

Jazmine looks shocked. "Caesar-bae?"

"We're dating!" Cindy and Caesar holds hands.

"Not so loud. Huey's sleeping!"

Jazmine slightly panics, Huey is gonna think that she invited guests over. She'll break his trust because she promised not to throw a party for his birthday. Jazmine really hopes right now that he didn't hear any of Cindy's loud yelling.

Jazmine ushers the two outside the apartment building, while she's ecstatic to be catching up with old friends, she goes out of character and acts a little stern to urge them outside.

"Huey's sick. He's trying to take a nap."

"Aww... that's too bad Jazmine." Caesar frowns.

"Man... weak ass nigga. Why he giving his girl the cold shoulder, acting like a bitch sleeping beauty on his birthday! Kinda bad babe material if ya ask me Jazzy."

She frowns at Cindy, "He's not a bad boyfriend. He's just sick from working so hard. I'm taking care of him."

"That's nice of you Jaz. Here... we gave him a present."

He hands her an unwrapped present. It's a pair of new sneakers in fact.

"Me and Cin picked it out. Thought he might like it. We never talked since the funeral but I really just want to make it up to him and thank him for all he's done for me and my ma."

"Thanks Caesar." She does a thankful nod. "How are things back in Woodcrest?"

Caesar has a wide grin on his face. "Same old, same old. Cin here graduating high school soon, I'm still working with Huey's old charity. Wuncler still funding us so we all good."

"To be real wit u, I didn't want to dip my hand in Freeman shit again, Reezy such a shit-eating crackhead breaking my heart and shit. But I came out here to support my boo. But now that I'm here, we gotta catch up Jaz! How's life living in the big hood?"

It's been so long since she's talked to Cindy and her 'wigga' accent, she almost struggled to listen coherently to her sentence. "It's good. It's been fun actually."

"Did u meet any guys? Some city boys are hella fine!"

She scowls at Cindy. "Don't say that! Huey and I are in a relationship!"

Cindy laughs at her teasing. "Just kidding Jaz! You almost sound like McHater!"

She blushes in embarassment. "Y-yeah... his personality is kinda rubbing off on me."

"Did ya'll fuck yet? That's a small apartment you got there Jaz."

Immediately Jazmine's face goes bright red and she can't help but reveal a smile.

Cindy gasps. "You did?! Shit! Congrats Jazzy!"

Caesar just awkwardly stands there, slightly uncomfortable with the girls' discussion. He says. "I saw you guys on the newspaper... you guys are busy protesting... you started Freeman Foundation."

"Yeah. We have a really busy schedule." She responds.

"That's... nice. You guys are really lookin out for us huh? Honestly, at first I didn't know if you two can do it but... you guys doing so much for the cause. For the people... damn Jazmine, I have to say we're proud of you guys. Everyone back home are watching."

"Aww.. thanks. Huey and I are a team."

"Yeah. Congrats." He smiles.

Cindy cuts in. "So you throwing a party for that nigga? We can get lit up all night in yo crib!"

She shakes her head. "No Cin, I'm not throwing a party... he's sick and he needs some space."

Caesar is disappointed, Cindy was hyping up an imaginary party for nothing. "Aww... well shit. We just came to wish happy birthday and hangout. But if he needs to rest then we'll head out now! Good luck Jazmine!"

She waves back. "Bye Caesar! Bye Cin!"

While saying goodbyes and farewells, Jazmine learns that they had asked Tom for their address. Then with one last goodbye hug her friends depart. She checked on Huey one final time, thankful that he was adorably asleep and didn't hear a thing.

Now she's going to pick up some stuff at the drug store. At Wuncler Pharmacy.

Even outside of Woodcrest, Wuncler follows them wherever they go. Wuncler Bank, Wuncler Security, Wuncler Oil. Even though Huey and Ed Wuncler III are on friendly terms, Ed is simply a better alternative to his father, Ed Wuncler II. Huey hates the various monopolies that the conglomerate has and Jazmine and Huey actively work against the policies and lawmaking that allows the business practices that Wuncler Industries applies in their day-to-day business.

It's slow work, considering how entrenched Corporate America is in their society. Huey suspects that most congressmen are lobbied under closed doors anyways. A revolution doesn't lasts for a day after all, it's a slow and trivial process to changing people's minds.

She happily hums along, browsing through the aisles. Huey hates taking any form of medicine or drug, so she'll just settle with Tylenol and not go too overboard. She blushes at the thought of buying more condoms but she knows that Huey is stingy about those things so she'll leave it up to him.

"21.32 please." The fatigued store clerk reads out Jazmine's total.

She pays with their shared credit card. Jazmine gives him a smile to brighten the clerk's afternoon. "Thank you. Have a nice day!"

Jazmine heads out the store and starts walking, she's been doing a lot of that lately, as Huey's insistance to reduce carbon emissions. She notices how much of her day is always Huey-related. Huey, Huey, Huey, most of her life recently has been dictated by him,

However, it's not like she is complaining, much of Huey's life revolves around her as well, they've been intertwined in each other's lives, she dreamed of being a vet and yet she's even following him with his career as a co-partner for the Freeman Foundation.

Despite not caring what people say and how strangers and supporters just regard her as 'Huey Freeman's girlfriend', she does feel kinda lost sometimes about her identity. Huey would fight tooth and nail to give her a voice and he's always the type to lift Jazmine up and address her as an equal partner instead of a lover. But nonetheless she wants take initiative without Huey's say in the matter.

She loves him of course, she loves her life, her career, and everything they've been doing to change the world. But sometimes her carefree personality just wants to deviate from time to time.

"Hmm... what would Huey do on a day like this... I got time." Jazmine says to herself.

No... not what Huey would do. What would Jazmine do?

I would go out... on a date with Huey!

She shakes her head, she wants to do something not Huey-related.

I would... go to work?

No. It's our office.

Maybe I just need a hobby... like dancing? *Gasp* Ballet dancing!

No... our schedules are too busy...

Huey wakes up with a bunch of teddy bears in the bed, fully knowing that Jazmine had put them there while he was sleeping. Being alone, Huey can't help but smile at his girlfriend's antics.

As he walks to go the bathroom he spots a black shoebox on their dining table. Being a little curious, he reads the note that Jazmine left him. In typical Jazmine writing with hearts and 'xoxoxo's written everywhere.

Cindy and Caesar stopped by! They gave you a gift! I already miss you Huey! :)

He sighs at how over the top her girly writing is. Then he opens the box to reveal a new pair of black sneakers. For a moment, he lets go of his opinions about sweatshops and the slave labor to make these shoes and just take in the moment.

He admits, Jazmine's bubbly, joyful personality has been rubbing off on him. In private he catches himself acting a little too Jazmine-y than he would prefer. Sometimes he pinches himself and bites his tongue to stop him from getting too happy.

Still, he appreciates the gift. It's acceptable and thoughtful. Jazmine sometimes scolds him for acting so mean to other people so perhaps he'll try to return the favor to his friends back in Woodcrest. He's moved on from whatever happened between them, it was a simple hug between Caesar and Jazmine when she was crying about her parent's divorce. He's willing to put those things in the past considering how it was nobody's fault.

He also realizes how clean and spotless their apartment is. Jazmine has definitely done his share of chores because it's his birthday. Maybe all this time, Huey Freeman just needed a little love and support to keep himself from turning into a soulless monster. Just needed a Jazmine Dubois to brighten his bitter life.

He had a tough time accepting it, accepting her with all her annoying flaws, ignorant naivete, and excessive crying. But she's grown up to be a mature and compassionate woman. And in truth, in an empty apartment, Huey Freeman kinda misses her giggles or the headaches that she gives him.

Maybe... I can- Hmm... maybe I can make a persona and be like a villain to Huey! That would be a good hobby!

No... you're thinking about Huey again. Think non-Huey stuff.

Strong independent woman here! What do strong independent woman exactly do?

Protest feminism? No! And me and Huey are probably gonna do that!

As she's walking back home, Jazmine got an idea. She dials her phone to call an old friend.

"Hello?" She says on the phone, it's been a long time since she's talked to her.

"Who is this?" A female voice speaks.

"It's me, Jazmine. Jazmine Dubois remember me?"

"Who?"

"Bella. It's me? You're roommate in Chicago for uhh... a day?"

A pause on the phone. Then suddenly a piercing shriek. "EEEEE! Jazmine! It's been so long! How are you!?"

They both scream in delight, Jazmine didn't expect her to be so cordial. "Great! How are you?! Oh my gosh I miss you!"

It's almost like being apart from Huey for an hour is bringing back her inner child again, a complete contrast from when she was concerned with Cindy waking him up from all her yelling.

"My day has been awesome! Hey! I've been seeing you in the news! You've been preaching some good stuff with your hubby! Heck yeah girl!" Bella says, her feminist roommate, Jazmine had met her when she had plans to move to Chicago to get away from a grieving Huey. In a way, Bella reminds her of some bad memories.

"Bella, I called to ask you about something..."

"Sure Jazmine! What is it?"

"You're always grossed out about talking about boys... and about smashing the patriarchy..."

"Of course!"

"Any tips on how to... be independent?"

All her life, she has practically attached herself to Huey. Ever since he moved into Woodcrest she stuck on him like a parasite. That's not to say that she spent every waking moment trying to be with her then-bestfriend. But since she's done it for such a long time, she doesn't know what to do when she chooses not to think about him.

Almost every single aspect of her life has been influenced by him. Down from her eating habits (eating meat is murder), down to her afro hair (be proud of her black heritage), and even her choice in music.

In truth, while Huey is starting to smile more and have emotions more regularly, Huey has had a greater effect on Jazmine's day-to-day life.

Bella responds. "You're still dating right?"

"Happily dating. But how do I spend alone time? Everytime I try to think of something, I want him to be with me."

Bella laughs on the other side of the phone. "You're boy-crazy."

"More like obsessed! I love him, but I really need help on being my own self."

Bella has always been a sober voice for her, she's opened her eyes about Huey in the past and urged Jazmine to apologize to Huey when she couldn't find the courage. This time is no different. "Just stop thinking about him and think about yourself. Treat yourself! Go to a spa! Or do something for someone else!"

"Do something nice for someone else?"

"Yeah? I don't know Jazmine, just think about something else other than him. Easy right? I'm not really good with boy-stuff."

"It's okay Bella! Thanks for the help! You're awesome!"

"You too! Have fun Jazmine!"

Do something nice for someone else

She ponders what that exactly means. Huey can probably be alone for another hour, in fact he'll probably thank Jazmine for being in a quiet apartment. Now is the time for some 'jazzy' alone time.

Maybe buy a homeless guy a meal?

Hmm... Huey might do that too... I think?

She walks down the street, at this point she's been walking in circles around the block. She just wants to look like she's going somewhere rather than awkwardly stand in the sidewalk.

How about I take someone out for lunch?

No... Huey and I always go out for lunch... and if I take a guy out then he'll get jealous! Even I'll get jealous if Huey takes a different girl for lunch!

How about a girl in your class for lunch?

I don't know... it won't be the same without him...

She whimpers to herself. She looks at the city around her and the life that she'll have with him. After all, she's going to spend eternity with him. But as it comes with love they'll always have their obstacles. Jazmine can't help but feel like she'll be left in the sidelines. Or that's she'll lose her own identity by being with a man.

Huey has always warned her about toxic masculinity and how women are expected to be submissive to their male counterparts. She's paranoid that she'll lose herself and be nothing more than 'Huey's wife' rather than 'Jazmine Freeman' in her eyes. And while Huey will do everything he can to not be that kind of husband, her creeping insecurities and naive self starts to slowly show.

Maybe I should just go to the spa for a day... for some alone time.

Jazmine! He's sick! And you're thinking of ditching him on his birthday?!

She kinda feels trapped in her relationship. In a way. While nothing is wrong between them, Jazmine can't help but feel a little... insecure.

"Help! Help!" A young voice calls out, getting Jazmine attention.

Jazmine walks to the source of the voice to see two kids in a city alleyway. They appear to be high-school kids but one is crying while a more taller kid is wearing a smug grin.

"Help! Give me back my stuff!" The young boy says. The taller kid reminds Jazmine of Butch Magnus from Woodcrest.

"Shut the fuck up nerd... you little shit better pay back what you owe! And if you ain't paying up then Imma whoop your a-" The bully looks up to see Jazmine walk up to them. He catcalls her. "Wassup sexy... damn you fine as fuck! MmMMm!" He licks his lips.

Jazmine looks at him with an angry scowl. Directly inspired by Huey. "Gross..."

She then turns to the nerd who's on the concrete floor. "Stand up, what did he do to you?"

The kid is crying as a black eye is plastered on his face. "H-he stole my wallet... my l-license is in there!"

Jazmine faces the bully angrily, with her fists closed. "Give him back his wallet!"

"Shut the fuck up bitch... unless you'll be willing to let me tap that ass!"

"I'm calling the police for theft if you don't return his wallet!"

Jazmine eyes the bully down, staring daggers at his face. He looks to be the same as Huey's height but a weaker build and a wider body. They stand face to face while the kid stands to the side, terrified for Jazmine's life. She's learned that violence isn't the answer to things but she's willing to defend herself when it comes to that.

She raises her voice, yelling at him with her deep voice. "Give! It! Back!" She stomps her foot down and holds her ground.

She's learned to eye her opponent down, to predict his next moves, and judge his character. She can tell that the bully is a little shocked at her actions, he's probably never seen a woman stand up to him so boldly. She can tell he is a little uneasy about this whole situation until his face turn to a seething expression. He's signalling that he's not gonna let a woman chicken him out of a fight.

"Move bitch. Or I'm gonna beat your ass." He says in a menacing voice, trying to intimidate her.

Jazmine's eyes turn to his hands as he takes out brass knuckles from his pocket. She tries to maintain steady breathing, just like how she was trained to do. Then she raises her fist to go in a fighting stance. She's been practicing her self-defense of course. Having a boyfriend with 10 different black belts can do that to her.

The bully charges in with his fist, Jazmine had to admit that he was fast for such a big guy. But he didn't even take another step as he drops to the floor with Jazmine's kick.

A woman is more flexible. Male fighters always underestimate a woman's kick. Huey once said.

The nerd gasps. "W-wow... I- Miss... that- where did you learn how to do that?" The bully lays on the floor unconscious.

She smiles, slightly in a rush from all the adrenaline. "Boyfriend."

"Wow..."

"Here's your wallet!"

"T-thank you miss! I- thank you so much!"

"You're welcome." Jazmine has been watching too many superhero movies, she almost said You're welcome proud citizen!

She really misses him. After that whole incident and some time to think, Jazmine realized how much Huey has had an impact in her life. But she's realizing more about how they've changed each other's life for the better. While Jazmine is thinking about how Huey turned her into a crazy vegan political badass madwoman like him. Huey also has to accept the fact that he's becoming a lot more happy and smiley ever since he started dating Jazmine.

In a way, she's accepted the person that she's turning out to be. No matter how much they influence each other's lives Jazmine and Huey will always be the same individuals. They'll have their contrasts, they'll have their differences, but as they blend and their lives intertwine and their personalities clash, then their relationship turns into something more beautiful.

As she's nearing the apartment, Jazmine lets out a small cough. Cough cough cough. Then she checks if her forehead is warm. She gasps.

Jazmine practically jumps to his arms when she returns home.

"Huey!" She hugs him in bed.

"Jazmine! You're gonna be sick!"

"Huey! I'm sick! I got a cold!" She giggles.

He rolls his eyes, sleeping in the same bed probably got her sick. "You sound so happy to contract an illness..."

"That means we can hug and cuddle each other in bed now!" She rubs her cheek against his face.

He sighs, normally he would be furious... but he really did miss her while she was gone. "Alright... lay down in bed... we both got a day off."

She giggles again childishly, taking off her autumn jacket and slipping into her pajamas. She sighs into his arms. "I miss you."

"I... miss you too."

"Guess we can't stay away from each other."

Huey pauses for a bit before sinking down their bed and returning her hug. "Yeah."

"I got us some Tylenol!"

"Thanks. But what took you so long? You've been gone for 2 hours."

"Nothing much... but I saved a kid on the street from a school bully! You would've been proud!"

"Did you fight? Did you use force as a last resort?"

"Yes. He had brass knuckles...but he attacked me first! Are you... angry Huey?"

"Did you get hurt?"

"Nope."

He kisses her in the forehead, trying to let go of his paranoia. "Then I'm not mad... I'm proud."

Jazmine can't help but blush. "Thank you. I did the kick like you taught me!"

"Good."

They continue snuggling in the bed, enjoying each other's company. They spent time apart in the past of course, they still have to take separate classes, but Huey feels a little uneasy not having his giggling kitten of a girlfriend clawing at him. It just felt different without her in the apartment with him. While Huey felt like 2 hours passed by like 2 years. 2 hours to Jazmine felt like an eternity.

She hugs him tighter, she's so happy that she got a cold so they can kiss and cuddle each other again. "I... I tried to spend some alone time without you..." She confesses, she hates keeping secrets from him.

"That's fine. Alone time is good for a healthy relationship." He remarks.

"I couldn't spend alone time... without thinking about you."

Huey feels slightly flattered. "Oh... well I was alone in the apartment... and I couldn't stop thinking about you."

Jazmine giggles. "We love each other too much... that's so cute."

He giggles alongside her too. "I guess so."

"You giggled."

He smiles. "Huh... I guess I did."

She puts her head closer to him, their foreheads touching. "Wow... we're really rubbing off on each other."

"Yeah..."

"I almost forgot! To give you a gift!" Jazmine goes to her own personal drawer and takes out a small wrapped box.

A silver necklace with a heart-shaped pendant and a silver key attached to a chain.

Jazmine explains the gift. "I wear the necklace... and you get the key. I know how you always hate getting presents and I know you never asked for a present but.. I bought this for us instead. I know it's corny... bu-

Huey cuts her off. "So you bought yourself a necklace? For my birthday?"

She sheepishly nods yes, with her signature blush. "I wear it and you keep the key... and then you put the key in so that the little heart opens! So it's saying that you have the key to my heart! I-I think it's cute!"

Huey almost wanted to laugh... until he did. Huey Freeman let out a loud chuckle that echoed throughout their apartment. Jazmine grinned until she started laughing too, she took such a risk with that gift.

His laughter dies down. "You're crazy Jazmine Dubois!"

She giggles. "I know!"

He helps her put on the necklace, his girlfriend is absolutely nuts, he knows that he hates getting presents and he hates getting stupid gifts that he won't use or wear. Jazmine literally thought outside the box to satisfy his weird expectations.

He takes the key and opens the heart. She squeals. "See? It opens! You have the key to my heart Huey!"

Wholesome chapter right?

I don't know if my writing is conveying the right message. And if I'm ever rewriting a chapter, this will prob be the first one. In summary the chapter is about Jazmine and Huey discovering how their pesonalities are "blending" together. Huey is learning to be more happy and Jazmine is learning to be more serious.

Jazmine has a little arc where she doesn't want to conform to gender stereotypes and wanting to be more independent because Huey's beliefs are affecting her in like a double-edge sword kind of way. But when she had a fight with the bully she's a lot more comfortable about being the person she's becoming.

I'm kinda taking my writing more seriously now that I know people are reading.

Guest: I was already planning to make a story where Jazmine gets alone time lol. Good idea with Huey though (which I used), thanks for the review.
