I have loved Akuhigu since I started watching BSD, this is my first fic on them, it's a lot more about Higuchi because the story will be told from her point of view.

I must specify that it is an alternative universe where there are no superpowers

Chapter 01: Escape.

Ichiyo came home from work exhausted, but she didn't have time to rest because like every night, she had to take care of her sister who was left unattended for hours, she couldn't count on her father who was probably passed out by this late hour, he was an unemployed alcoholic who sucked Ichiyo's finances like a leech.

The younger sister Natsu had been paralyzed for over 2 years and Ichiyo was the one who took care of her and the house, she quit college and found a night job because there weren't a lot of hours to work and it was also well paid, It's true that a waitress in a bar wasn't her dream job, but at least it fed her family, paying for her little sister's medical bills and occasionally for her father's drinks.

The door creaked as she opened it slowly so as not to make a noise which failed, as always she made a note in her mind to grease it but she forgot it as soon as she noticed the condition of the apartment, it was worse than a brothel, plus it reeked of alcohol mixed with something else she didn't try to find out what it was, though deep down she knew it was urine just seeing the obvious stain on her father's pants, which was lying on a mass of clothes on the floor.

"Why had he used the clean laundry as a mattress?" Her subconscious screamed at the back of her mind.

Stomach acid burned her throat as she felt the foul odor seep more and more into her nostrils, so she rushed to the room she shared with her sister, hoping that the polluted air did not spread all the way there.

A gentle smile spread across her face as she looked at Natsu's angelic face, she couldn't help but place a kiss on her cheek.

"You don't sleep?" She asked despite knowing she was not going to get an answer.

Eyes wide open, Natsu continued to stare into space, according to the doctors the young girl was in a vegetative state but she was conscious, which is why Ichiyo was doing her best to make her happy.

Ichiyo decided to change her sister's diaper before going to sleep. She picked up everything she needed before she started to undress Natsu, the blonde frowned as she noticed a small mark on her sister's stomach, next to her navel.

Her heart began to pound strongly as she moved closer to better examine what she had just discovered, she pulled up the top of Natsu's pajamas to check for any other similar marks, unfortunately for her there were three more, one of them was in her sister's small left breast.

A large painful lump blocked her breath as she felt the horror wash over her, the marks on Natsu's body were hickeys and the one who made them was the person sleeping in the living room, it was just him on the suspect list.

Ichiyo fell to her knees because her legs couldn't hold her anymore, tears flowed from her eyes as she felt stupid for trusting her worthless father to be alone with Natsu, he was quite an alcoholic but she never thought he was a monster capable of abusing his 14 year old daughter.

It couldn't last, Ichiyo's patience had reached its limit and she couldn't take the shock of her discovery any longer, she had to take her sister and go away from her fucking father, she had always thought about this idea but she never had the courage to do it because she didn't want to break up the family, but unfortunately the family never existed to be broken up.

She squeezed her hands until she felt her fingernails tear at her skin, deciding that now was the time to wake up and take charge of her life because no one is going to help her, in the future, she will only rely on herself.

Yokohama had not been Ichiyo's destination when she decided to leave her hometown, but after saying goodbye to her father by setting the house on fire, she rushed to the station and chose the first train to leave, luck would have it that it was in the direction of Yokohama.

During the trip, Ichiyo took the opportunity to rest because she had an eventful night, she paid a dear price for a cabin so that she could put her sister at ease, it was difficult to travel with a paralyzed person, besides without a car, Ichiyo pushed Natsu with her wheelchair while holding two suitcases, so the woman was completely exhausted.

Sleep was inaccessible for Ichiyo because she couldn't help but think about her new life, she had no idea what she was going to do and her savings wouldn't last a month, in addition, she needed to find a place to stay and find a job quickly because her sister's care was expensive.

She thought maybe she rushed out of her town because there she had at least a job and some knowledge, unlike Yokohama, a place she has never set foot in, she was sure she was going to get lost as soon as she got off the train.

She took a breath before slowly exhaling to pull herself together, giving up wasn't an option and now wasn't the time to whine, the train's arrival in Yokohama was scheduled for 11am, so she will have time to do some research, plus, she heard that the city is nocturnal, she will be able to find a night job like her old job.

With this optimistic idea, Ichiyo had fallen asleep but she was conscious at the same time.

As soon as she arrived at her destination, she got up to put her sister in the wheelchair and picked up the two suitcases.

"I'm going to have a hard day." She hissed between her teeth.

The first thing on Ichiyo's to-do list was finding a place to stay, because there was nothing she could do as long as she had her sister and the luggage with her, but what the blonde discovered was that finding a flat in Yokohama was not easy, especially on such a limited budget.

She ended up spending the night in a motel that was according to customers who frequent it, an establishment for couples, plus it is located on a street full of prostitutes.

Because of her paranoia, Ichiyo couldn't sleep, she was afraid someone would show up in her room, at that moment, she was thinking about all the rumors she had heard about Yokohama, apparently the city was full of mafia.

As soon as she had that thought, Ichiyo gasped when she heard a thud that sounded like the sound of a gun, like in the movies. She glanced at her sister lying on the bed next to her, her eyes closed as she slept peacefully.

Ichiyo swallowed the bit of saliva she had in her dry mouth, deciding to pretend she hadn't heard anything, anyway there was no evidence that it was a gunshot, maybe a box or a balloon filled with air suddenly exploded, she needed to stop thinking negatively so that she could solve her problems faster.

The next morning, Ichiyo woke up very early because in her condition, she couldn't afford the luxury of sleeping, before going out to start her day she bathed and dressed her sister, she had decided to take her with her because she couldn't leave her alone in the motel.

Like the day before, the hours were starting to pass quickly as she couldn't find what she was looking for. As soon as the sun went down, she decided to go back to the motel because she had tired her sister enough, but she didn't expect the old woman at the front desk to give her any good news.

"Good evening miss," The receptionist greeted her with her deep voice that sounded like a man's, in fact the whole woman looked like a man if she didn't have a generous chest. "I have heard that there is an apartment available nearby and the price is reasonable."

Ichiyo was both surprised and happy. Before leaving this morning, she asked the woman for advice on finding an apartment; she didn't expect to find one so quickly.

"If you're still looking for an apartment." The receptionist continued when Ichiyo was slow to answer.

"Yes, yes," The blonde nodded in agreement. "Unfortunately, I haven't found what I'm looking for."

There were apartments available, only the price was very high for Ichiyo.

"I'll call the owner to make an appointment." The old woman declared as she picked up her phone.

Ichiyo waited patiently, looking at the woman hopefully. If she found an apartment she could start looking for work and if she was going to be paid well she would hire a nurse to take care of Natsu.

"She said she will be available in an hour." The receptionist says after finishing her call.

Ichiyo frowned as she looked at the clock on the reception wall, it was 8:35 pm so in an hour it will be 9:35 pm, it was a bit late to visit an apartment, but on the other hand, it's a good thing and at least the lost day will be fruitful.

The receptionist's impatient gaze snapped Ichiyo out of her thoughts.

"Perfect." She forced a smile to mask her embarrassment. "I'll put my sister to bed and come back downstairs."

"Don't be late." The old lady growled.

Ichiyo didn't take her eyes off her sister until she fell asleep, then she went to get ready for her meeting but quickly changed her mind, her floral summer dress was presentable so there was no reason to change it anyway, she was just going to visit an apartment. Before leaving the bedroom, she just pulled her short hair back into a bun.

When she went downstairs to the reception, she found the old woman in the company of a young man.

"I'll be back soon," The woman spoke, addressing the young man before turning to Ichiyo. "Let's go."

The blonde did not understand why the receptionist was accompanying her to the visit of the apartment, she thought she was going to give her the address so that she could go there alone, but no, she was going to drive her herself with her "beautiful" car.

The ride was silent, the old woman didn't seem to be talkative and Ichiyo was too busy to think of speaking, anyway she wasn't talkative either.

The car stopped when they pulled up to a large apartment complex, which looked like a fancy place.

"Are you sure this is the right address?" Ichiyo asked, turning to the other woman. "I don't think it has a cheap apartment for rent here."

"Yes it's here." The receptionist turned off the car. "The area is not very sure which is why all the apartments here are so cheap."

The woman's response was not very reassuring to Ichiyo, it was true that she did not have much financial means, but she needed a safe place to keep her sister safe.

She followed the old woman who seemed to know the place, because to Ichiyo it was like a maze, besides, there weren't a lot of inhabited apartments so calm reigned, it was surely a new complex.

They entered one of the buildings and climbed the elevator to the fifth floor.

A bad feeling started to sting Ichiyo's chest but she blamed her paranoia for it, a thought occurred to her, her parents never taught her the lesson to never follow strangers, her mother was too busy with her lovers before leaving with one of them and her father was never sober, at that moment she realized that she lacked education because otherwise, she wouldn't continue to follow the old woman down the long hallway.

The door to the back apartment was wide open, inviting them to come in and that's what the receptionist did, of course Ichiyo followed without thinking.

A scarlet-haired woman greeted them with a beaming smile, she wore a traditional Japanese kimono, and she was styled in a bun to match the theme.

"What do you think Koyo?" The receptionist asked.

"She's gorgeous." The redhead's smile turned mischievous as she got closer to Ichiyo. "As always, you are good at catching good fish."

Ichiyo could no longer ignore the alarm that started ringing throughout her body, it was clear that she had fallen into some kind of trap.

"What is happening?" She cried out as she looked at the receptionist who sent her an icy look.

Breathing became difficult for her as her heart pounded like a drum.

"Calm down my dear," Koyo moved closer before she started to stroke her face. "You're so beautiful."

Before she could say anything, Ichiyo felt something prick her neck, her whole body suddenly numb before she plunged into darkness.
