A/N: Anyone who wants to do a story where the characters read 'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes' series is allowed to do so as long as they tell me before hand.
I don't own Percy Jackson series or Naruto series, or any of the characters of either series. Nor am I the writer of the Son of the Huntress series
Warning: Read these stories if you haven't before reading this story:
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Lightning Thief'
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Sea of Monsters'
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Titan's Curse'
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Battle of the Labyrinth'
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Last Olympian'
'The Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Staff of Hermes'
'The Legacy of the Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero'
'The Legacy of the Heroes of Olympus: The Quest for Buford'
I'm going to make this clear to those who don't approve the idea of legacies in Camp Half-Blood.
One: If you actually looked into Greek Mythology you know there been plenty of Greek Legacies. Heck Frank's ancestors were Greek legacies before they joined the Romans.
Two: Time and time again in the Percy Jackson series they mention many famous names Rick Riordan used as demigods Greek Demigods reaching adulthood-George Washington, Amelia Earhart, F.D.R., General Sherman and many more-many of which had children of their own which would make their kids legacies.
Three: About Naruto not being wise enough to be a Legacy of Athena, keep in mind in future reference for any sequel fanfictions of Percy Jackson that when Percy and Annabeth have kids, if they have any of Percy's personality they might not have much interest in school and thus not show much of any of Athena's wisdom. So I should have a pass on the matter with Naruto because of that fact.
Four: Since I made Naruto a legacy of Athena through Minato, he can't have any connections with the Romans as for any god/goddess, Olympian or Minor to have a legacy they must have children who later grow up to have children of their own. Minerva doesn't have kids, and it been clear before the return of Athena's Parthenos the idea of the matter was saw as a disgrace to the Romans as it meant Minerva broke her vow in their eyes. Not to mention the fact that the feud between Greek and Romans was kept alive for so long because of Athena.
Also for anyone who thinks it be okay having a child/Legacy of Artemis or Hestia to meet the romans, although Diana or Vesta wasn't treated any worse from their Greek counterparts as the comparison of Athena and Minerva, keep in mind they also made a vow to not have any kids, and since Romans take their vows so seriously they have their own god whose domain is over vows I think they would frown upon the idea of Diana and Vesta breaking their vows. Although I did enjoy The Son of the Huntress series, even though Naruto saved Reyna and Hylla the fact any more Romans would accept the idea there being a child and grandchild of two virgin goddesses feels a bit far fetch.
Heads up, Sheffinator has posted the reading of fanfiction for The Legacy series called 'Reading of the Legacy of Athena and Hermes'. I have gave them permission and the first chapter is posted.
I started it 'Reading of the Legacy of Athena and Hermes: The Lightning Thief as part of my youtube channel of me reading fanfictions and actual books. I can't send the link because of course fanfiction site won't let me, but just look it up under my name Ashleigh Stratmann.
Yugito Percy Hazel and Frank Set Off
Yugito can't help but notice that lunch was more like a funeral party. Everybody ate. People talked in hushed tones. Nobody particularly happy. The other campers kept giving Percy a glance like he was corpse of honor. Some even stared at Yugito strange looks. Yugito was use to it, but she can't help but shake this feeling Octavian got something to do with it because of her little display back in the senate meeting.
Reyna made a brief speech wishing them luck. Octavian ripped open a beanie baby and pronounced grave omens and hard times ahead, but predicted the camp would be saved by an unexpected hero (whose initials were probably OCTAVIAN). Then the other campers went off to their afternoon classes-gladiator fighting, Latín lessons, paintball with ghost, eagle training, and a dozen of other activities. Yugito, Percy, Hazel and Frank headed to the barracks to pack.
Yugito shared a bunk above Hazel as she packed her ninja gear. She cleared her backpack from hers and Percy's trip south and kept most of their Bargain Mart supplies. She also packed an extra purple t-shirt and jeans from the camp quarter master, plus some nectar, ambrosia, snacks, a little mortal money and camping supples. At lunch Reyna gave them a scroll of introduction from the praetor and the camp senate. Supposedly, any retired legionnaires they met on the trip would help them if shown the letter. Yugito also kept her headband.
One of Percy's and Frank's roommates, Bobby gave them a ride to the border of the valley on Hannibal the elephant. From the hilltops, they could see everything below. The Little Tiber snaked across golden pastures where the unicorns were grazing. The temples and forums of New Rome gleamed in the sunlight. On the Field of Mars, engineers were hard at work, pulling down the remains of last night's fort and setting up barricades for a game of death ball. A normal day for Camp Jupiter-but on the northern horizon storm clouds were gathering. Shadows moved across the hills.
Yugito wasn't much for omens (which she realized might sound weird coming from a daughter of Apollo), but she got the feeling that Gaea herself was making her present known.
The entire trip Percy seemed unease and slightly guilty like he was doing the opposite of what he was told to do by going on this quest, but at the same time more certain about a decision he made.
They got off the elephant. Bobby wished them a safe journey. Hannibal wrapped the four questers with his trunk. Then the elephant taxi service headed back into the valley.
"IDs, please!" a familiar voice said.
A statue of Terminus appeared at the summit of the hill. The god's marble face frowned irritably. "Well? Come along!"
"You again?" Percy asked. "I thought you just guarded the city."
Terminus huffed. "Glad to see you, too, Mr. Rule Flouter. Normally, yes, I guard the city, but for international departures, I like to provide extra security at the camp borders. You really should've allowed two hours before you planned your departure time, you know. But we'll have to make do. Now come over here so I can pat you down."
"But you don't have-" Yugito elbowed Percy in the ribs, stopping him. 'Uh sure."
Percy stood next to the armless statue. Terminus conducted a rigorous mental pat down.
"You seemed to be clean," Terminus decided. "Do you have anything to declare?"
Yes," Percy said. "I declare this is stupid."
"Hmph! Probatio tablet: Percy Jackson, Fifth Cohort, son of Neptune. Fine, go. Yugito Nii daughter of Apollo-promoted to full legionnaire ranks I see. Congratulations. Strange cat tattoo marking however. But considering where you're from I'll let you go."
"Thanks, I think," Yugito said.
"Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto. Fine. Any foreign currency or, ahem, precious metals to declare?"
"No," she muttered.
"Are you sure?" Terminus asked. "Because last time-"
"No!"
"Well, this is a grumpy bunch," the god said, "Quest travelers! Always in a rush. Now, let's see-Frank Zhang. Ah! Centurion? Well done, Frank. And that haircut is regulation perfect. I approve! Off you go, then, Centurion Zhang. So four of you are off on a quest, huh? That's against rules."
"Technically it's Frank's Percy's Hazel's quest," Yugito explained. "They are to escort me to a battle."
"Ah, escort mission. A technicality. Very well then," Terminus said. "Do you need any directions today?"
"No. No, I guess not," Frank replied.
"Just down to the BART station," Terminus said anyway. "Change trains at Twelfth Street in Oakland. You want Fruitvale Station. From there, you can walk or take the bus to Alameda."
"You guys don't have a magical BART train or something?" Percy asked.
"Magic trains!" Terminus scoffed. "You'll be wanting your own security lane and a pass to the executive lounge next. Just travel safely, and watch out for Polybotes. Talk about scofflaws-bah! I wish I could throttle him with my bare hands."
"Wait-who?" Percy asked.
Terminus made a straining expression, like he was flexing his non-existent biceps. "Ah, well. Just be careful of him. I imagine he can smell a son of Neptune a mile away, and there being four of you might draw more attention than normal. Out you go, now. Good luck!"
An invisible force kick them across the boundary. Yugito looked back and saw, Terminus was gone. In fact, the entire valley was gone. The Berkeley Hills seemed to be free of any Roman camp.
Any idea what Terminus was talking about?" Percy asked. "Watch out for... Political something or other?"
"Poh-liB-uh-tease," Hazel sounded out the name carefully. "Never heard of him."
"Sounds Greek," Frank said.
"Do you have any idea who it is?" Yugito asked Matatabi.
"No, but I wouldn't be surprise if he's one of Alcyoneus' brothers," Matatabi said.
"Matatabi says she won't be surprise Polybotes is one of Alcyoneus' brothers," Yugito recite.
"Oh, well that's reassuring," Percy sighed. "Well, we probably just appear on the smell radar for every monster within five miles. We'd better get moving."
...
It took them two hours to reach the docks of Alameda, which was rather easy compare to Yugito's and Percy's journey south. No monsters attacked. Nobody looked at them like they were homeless.
Frank had stored his spear, bow and quiver in a long bag made for skis. Hazel's cavalry sword was wrapped in a bedroll slung on her back. Together it looked more like Yugito-who was a young adult-was escorting three high schoolers than three teenagers escorting Yugito.
"It's only an escort mission so the gods have a reason to send the four of you together," Matatabi said.
"Yeah, I kinda figure," Yugito thought.
They walked to Rockridge Station, bought their tickets with mortal money, and hopped on the BART train.
They got off in Oakland. They had to walk through some rough neighborhoods, but Yugito scared away anyone that tried to bother them. Years growing up as a Jinchuriki, Yugito learned how to scare away anyone that tried to hurt her, and those who wasn't scared off she fight.
In the late afternoon, they made it to Alameda docks. Percy looked most relaxed Yugito had ever seen him since they met. Not that she could blame him. They were in Neptune's domain. This is where Percy was strongest.
Dozens of boats were moored at the docks-everything from fifty foot yachts to ten-foot fishing boats. But none of them stand out as Roman.
Percy finally spoke up. "Um... you guys know what we're looking for?"
Hazel and Frank shook their heads.
"I didn't even know we had a navy." Hazel sounded as if she wished there wasn't one.
"Oh..." Frank pointed. "You don't think...?"
At the end of the dock was a tiny boat, like a dinghy, covered in a purple tarp. Embroidered in faded gold along with the canvas was S.P.Q.R.
"No way," Percy said.
Yugito grew out her fingernails into claws and cut the ropes holding the tarp and removed the tarp. Under it was an old steel rowboat with no oars. The boat had been painted dark blue at one point, but the hull was crusted in tar and salt. On the bow, the name Pax was lettered in Gold. Painted eyes drooped sadly at the water level as if the boat were about to fall asleep. On board were two benches, some steel wool, an old cooler, and a mound of frayed rope with one end tied to the mooring. At the bottom of the boat, a plastic bag and two empty Coke cans floated in several inches of water.
"Behold," Frank said. "The mighty Roman Navy."
"There's got to be a mistake," Hazel said. "This is a piece of junk."
"I don't think so," Yugito sighed.
Still this didn't dampen Percy's spirits as he jumped into the boat. He gathered up the garbage in the cooler and put it on the dock. He willed the scummy water to float over the sides out of the boat. Then he pointed at the steel wool and if flew across the floor, scrubbing and polishing so fast, the steel began to smoke. When it was done, the boat was clean. Percy pointed at the rope and it untied itself from the dock.
"This'll do," Percy said. "Hop in."
Frank got in but Hazel was hesitant as if nervous.
"Hey, it's okay," Yugito said. "I don't like sea travel either but the Camp needed whatever advantage they have over Gaea."
Hazel was still uneasy but she nodded as she climbed on board. Once they had settled on the seats, Percy concentrated, and the boat slipped away from the dock.
"Get off my ship," Percy growled all of the sudden.
"Uh, what?" Frank asked.
Percy waited before saying, "Nothing. Let's see what this rowboat can do."
The boat turned north, and in no time they were speeding along, heading for the Golden Gate Bridge.
