Korra looked up and dropped the phone….

"Korra? D-did you hear me?" Mako's voice was muffled over the phone as it laid on the floor. Korra quickly picked it up.

"Y-yes I heard you, are you sure?" She said still eyeing Asami.

"Sure as hell, but I don't think you should tell Asami anything just yet." He warned.

"G-got it, Let's just talk tomorrow." She quickly hung up the phone, not sure what to do at this moment. She just found a dead man's bracelet in her wifes warehouse, and now the dead men were involved in the murder of her mom years ago.

"Baby I can expla-"

"What the fuck, Asami! How do you explain this shit?!" Korra half yelled. She began pacing back and forth hyperventilating.

"What about my job, fuck what about us, our house. Asami, what made you do this?!" Korra was exasperated. What should she even fucking do in this situation? Does she arrest her wife?

"Korra you have to understand, I-I didnt know anything about my mom's death I needed answers."

"So killing them were the answers?!" Korra said, throwing her hands out to the side.

"Please just calm down Kor-" Asami said walking towards her.

"Back the fuck away from me!" Korra yelled as she fell back onto the dining room table. She held one hand on the table to help her keep standing, while the other fiercely rubbed her temple.

Asami was visibly hurt, in all her years of knowing Korra, she has never talked to her like that.

"You knew…"

"Knew what?" Asami asked.

"You knew all along this case was about you! And you paraded around like all was good in the fucking world." Disgust oozed from her words as she looked at Asami. Cobalt eyes filled with frustration and anger.

"Korra, please, I didn't want this to go like this, I don't want to lose you, please you have to listen." Asami said, getting to her knees. She began to sob, with her head down, expecting to be arrested by her love in that instant. She'd given up, her life, her wife and everything she built was gone like that. She heard Korra walk to her and all she could do was hold her wrist out.

Nothing.

She looked up, emerald eyes glistening, and saw Korra tower over her. Korra still in her work uniform and gun holstered on her hip and cuffs dangling off the other side. Asami was terrified, is this what every criminal sees when they are picked up by Korra? It was an ungodly sight, something she never dreamed of seeing before. She let her head fall again, long ravenette waves cascading over her face hiding her guilt, nerves, and tears. It felt like years passed, in this moment of Korra towering over her making her feel small, she was ready to face whatever she had too.

Maybe she would look good in orange.

She slowly felt herself getting pulled up, still believing she'd be cuffed and turned in; she just gave into the feeling. It was until she felt herself placed gently on the couch that she realized that she was being carried. She balled up for a moment hiding her face. She heard the other living room couch creak as Korra sat down. She could hear Korra let out a long, stressful breath.

"I need to know everything Asami.."

LOK

"So you used your warehouse to hide them out, to give you answers, and then killed them?" Korra asked as Asami told her everything about what she did and the missing pieces to the case. "So then who was the guy you walked out with? Your accomplice? Did he put you up to this?" Korra asked, getting frustrated even more, hoping her wife would say she wasn't the mastermind and that she was coerced into doing this. That would be the better story right? Wrong, in this case, Korra could see in Asami's eyes that this was all her doing.

"N-no, he was actually an accomplice to them all those years ago. He was the one framed for my mothers death, even though he didn't do it. I let him live because unlike the other two guys-"

"Shoo and Gin?" Korra interjected.

"Y-es, those two ratted him out as soon as they could and felt zero remorse for what they did, so I-I,"

"Killed them." Korra said, rubbing her temples. "So did one of them kill her and just blame it on the last guy so they can get out early or?"

"No, they didn't kill her, from what Leo said, the guy you saw me leave with, there was a guy who got added to their group right before, who brought a gun and ended up killing my mother. Leo said he got up and left town and the other two were so scared of him that they let Leo take the fall."

"Okay, well let's go round him up and put him where belongs," Korra said standing up.

"No, it's not that simple, Leo said that they only knew him by the name, Benny, and Leo said he wasn't sure if that was his real name. As of right now Leo is my only clue to him and my only source of info. He has my number and will call me if he ever gets word of him."

"So then who made the call to green light your house back then?" Korra asked.

"Well Leo said it was anonymous, they just got the call from him, Benny was new also and after that everything that happened, happened." Asami finished.

"Hmm.." Korra put her thumb to her chin, "So we have a case that's two decades old, connected with a new case, that deals with the same people, but we have 3 out of the 5 suspects ID. So we need to know who made that call, and where to find this Benny guy."

Both were entrenched with the details of the case but they both knew the elephant in the room was far from gone….

Was Korra going to arrest her wife? Was she going to cover up the murders? What was the ethical decision, loyalty to her wife, or her job?

"If.. you're going to arrest me please don't let it be by you, my love." Asami whispered.

Korra looked over at her, stared at her with nothing in her eyes, and turned away. She slowly walked up the stairs and into their bedroom.

LOK

She was hoping that this had been some sort of nightmare, but alas, she woke with the lurching feeling in her stomach that let her know that it wasn't.

Korra slowly walked down stairs to the kitchen and started the coffee pot, luckily she was able to call in sick, I mean, it wasn't a total lie. The coffee pot whirred as hot coffee filtered through the filter and into the pot, clouding the glass. Korra watched mind blank, eyes brimmed with exhaustion. She wasn't sure if Asami came to bed that night but she made sure to sleep in the guest room after a while. The house was silent, deadly silent, no pun intended. After she filled her mug she trudged to the living room not noticing Asami who seemed to have stayed in her same balled up position.

"I-"

Korra put her hand up to silence Asami, and quietly shook her head. She still hadn't a clue what she was going to say to her wife. She honestly couldn't understand why she would do something so…so permanent.

"As of right now, we are no longer married, I can't fathom what you went through when you were younger. I-I know your dad was abusive before and after your mothers death but that is no excuse-"

"Korr-!"

"I'm not done!", she yelled, "We've been together for years and not one day would I have thought you would have been some cold killer." Korra said with desolate gray eyes.

"We are only partners, to close these cases after that, I want nothing to do with you."

Asami's eyes widened, speechless.

A/N: gonna leave it here, I know, I know, it's been a while, it's always been awhile (sorry). Also a very short chapter also, will make the next longer. But I will be trying to update some of my other stories also.
