Merry Christmas!

Wow, I can't believe that 2021 is almost over. I have big stories planned for 2022, though!

The first ever fanfiction I published was on another account on January the 23rd. I then published another shortly after, but then deleted them and moved to Ao3 for good. Well, untill I made another account and came back.

I wrote this while I was sleepy, so I appologise if there are grammar or spelling errors.

Enjoy!

Christmas Morning

It was snowing heavily, and almost everything was blanketed by layers of snow. Ice-type pokémon rejoiced whilst children played in the snow, and adults sat in their cozy homes with warm beverages.

Sleeping peacefully on a bed of straw was a young espurr. Next to them was a gengar, who was staring into a fire that burned in the center of the little cave they called their home.

'I hope they enjoy opening their presents,' the gengar thought aloud with an anxious sigh. He twisted to look at the sleeping child, who was curled into a little round ball of fluff. A smile spread across his lips. 'Of course they will. They always do, even though I don't get them many presents.' He faced the fire once again, and watched the snow fall outside of the window for a little while.

'Papa?'

The gengar jumped at the sound of their voice, and quickly stood up to check on them. The young espurr was still curled into a ball, but they were looking up at him with round, sleepy, unblinking eyes.

'Yes? What is it, Floof?'

Nobody knew their real name, not even Floof themselves. It was a nickname he had given them when he had found them years ago, and it had stuck.

'Has Santa Delibird come yet?' they asked, yawning and unraveling themselves.

The gengar turned to look at the corner of the cave, where there were three presents wrapped in newspaper. Floof's eyes widened in excitement. They gasped, and exclaimed: 'Santa Delibird came!'

The gengar chuckled. 'Yes, he did!' He grinned. 'Now come on, let's go see what he gave you!' Floof was already by the presents, giggling with joy. 'Open them up, then!'

They didn't need to be told twice. They picked up the smallest present, carefully unwrapping it to avoid tearing the paper. Their tongue poked out of the corner of their mouth while they concentrated.

'Ooh!' In their paws was a small wooden cup with an espurr engraved into the side. 'I love it! So, so much!'

'Oh, wow!' He faked that he had never seen it before, but his smile was genuine. 'Isn't that pretty?'

The espurr nodded. 'Mhm!'

'Go on then, open the other presents!'

Floof blinked. 'Did Santa Delibird bring you any presents, Papa?'

His smile faded. 'Eh, uh..' He shook his head, a little taken aback. 'No. He knew that I didn't want anything.' Floof's eyes instantly lost their sparkle. He sighed and pulled them into a tight but comfortable hug. 'It's because he knew that all I wanted for Christmas was to be with you.'

Floof beamed and hugged him back, giggling happily. 'I love you, Papa Gengar!'

'I love you too, my little Floof.'
