'For thoughts'

"TRAITORSssss!" Hakuno and her group managed to hide before they noticed the large group of Mites and Kobolds, Mites from what she could see are small human looking beings, just with extremely large heads.

"Mites and Kobolds… Together they are infamous for causing problems, they usually like to prey on small caravans and swarm larger ones. Their only advantage being their numbers. They are pretty known to be cowardly… It is pretty rare for them to be led by their own kind, typically they are ruled by some other being." Linzi whispered to the group.

"Search your eggs! You lose relic and accuse queen!?" The lead Mite yelled out, his head noticeably larger than the others.

"Should we stop them?" Linzi asked, "They seem like they are missing something, could it be Tartuccio stole their 'relic'?"

"Master… You should keep in mind that Tartuccio isn't the main thing we are after. We don't really have to chase him. But I will follow your orders… Just when we get a chance, summon another Servant. I would like some time off."

"I know, I just think we should intervene? No reason to kill them all."Robin sighed as he put his cloak up, turning invisible.

"It is better to exile or not interfere, lest we get entangled in their deeds." Valerie muttered.

"Should just kill them both groups. That way they can be a challenge." Amiri added on.

Hakuno nodded as she took the advice from her group members and sighed, "We should at least get Tartuccio out of there, he is most likely manipulating the Kobolds."

"Fine." Amiri muttered, losing interest in the conversation.

"Mites, Kobolds I believe we have your answer." Linzi stated next to Hakuno with Valerie being in a protective stance in front of the group. As she said that the two armies paused and looked upon the new group.

"Strangers! Do not see that Kobold attack Queen!? Insult us and our magnificent Queen!" One of the smaller Mites yelled.

"Liessss! Mites sssstole relic! Help ussss!" The kobold leader shouted.

"There is a thief hiding amongst your people," Linzi spoke towards the Kobolds, "One that hides under the name Tartuk."

The leading Kobold looked offended at her saying that, "Tartuk new Ssshaman! Ssssootsscale not ssstupid! We know real Kobold!"

Hakuno sighed, "How about we take a look around and find out the truth?"

"We accept! Stranger go peace to our land! Find truth that Kobold stupid!"

"Sssstranger! Go find Sssshaman Tartuk! He show you he real Kobold!"

Hakuno sighed again, as a small handful of the two armies began fighting as the rest retreated out of her sight.

Hakuno noted that the 'fight' between the two finished quickly as they really weren't trying to fight too hard. Once one side got too tired they fled before any deaths.

"Let's find Tartuk, Robin, can you check out the Mite's cave while we check out the Kobolds?"

Hakuno couldn't see Robin but could feel his exasperation as he agreed.

Hakuno idly added summon a new Servant to her list of things she had to do, 'Maybe I do overwork him…'

Hakuno felt a headache coming on, the Kobolds were nice in a way that vaguely reminded her of Nero… Incredibly prideful beings.

'But…' She watched two get in a fight over what appeared to be a radish. 'They are a bit funny.'

Hakuno and her group were being led around the mine by one of Chief Sootscale's 'aids'. Apparently he was the previous Shaman of the tribe.

"And thissss! Isss where we keep the prisssssoners of the Great Tartuk!" The unnamed Shaman waved his wooden staff.

Hakuno watched as both Harim and Jaethal were sitting down, both, at least to her, looked to be in a form of meditation.

Seemingly sensing her approach the two opened their eyes in an eerie sort of way. "Oh finally! Are you here to get us out of this disgusting dungeon?" Jaethal slowly stated as she stretched.

Hakuno thought it over for only a moment before nodding, hearing Valerie sigh behind her, "Could you release them into our watch?"

The Shaman mulled over her words before Linzi sighed and handed him a ration, "Yesssss you take usssselesss and make work hard!" The Shaman just opened the door.

The door was not locked in the slightest and seeing that Linzi burst out laughing as the two got up, and collected their bags.

"Could you give us a moment with them?" Hakuno asked the Shaman who nodded.

"I wait for you." He closed the door behind him giving them a bit of privacy. Though… Hakuno noted that the door was barely a door.

"You are hunting that annoying gnome aren't you?" Hakuno nodded, "I'll join up with you for now. That bastard left us here while he went searching for his precious artifact."

Harim nodded slowly, "For now it seems mine and your road travels the same path. I shall join you as well."

Hakuno nodded, having extra party members would be nice. Though… a small voice inside her head whispered, 'How can you trust them? They worked with the gnome…'

Hakuno shook her head to dispel the thoughts, 'Weird…'

"Thisssss is our living room." The shaman motioned towards a large amount of tents surrounding a large pyre.

Hakuno nodded, watching a few of the Kobolds riding a few large spiders.

"Those are our prized mounts, much time it takes. Make trapssss good."

Hakuno noticed that the spiders seem to be staring down Amiri for some reason who just huffed when she noticed it.

"Can we have the relic?" Hakuno asked after the tour, seeing the entirety of the Kobold dwelling Hakuno was growing tired.

The Chief grunted as he tossed them a branch, "Here you no attack my people. Me ssssurprisssed, Ssstrangersss attack first no speaking. Like you two." He points at Harim and Jaethal, "But… you kind. If Sssshaman Tartuk find relic. He hide in Great Hall."

"Robin. Did you find Tartuccio over there?"

"Nah. Found lots of random odds and ends and the Mites are… strange. Found a weird door, I can hear someone behind it but I can go into it, it seems to be made of something magical."

"I think that's the door their relic goes into."

"Alright… Meet you up in front of the Old Sycamore?"

"Ok."Hakuno nodded as she vaguely listened to Chief Sootscale regale his 'legend' of conquering numerous monsters.

Most sounded like livestock of sorts.

"It has been a pleasure Chief Sootscale, but we wish to meet up with the rest of our companions above ground."

The chief nodded, "Go and prove my Sssshaman'sss truthness, bring him home."

Hakuno nodded as the party was escorted out of the tunnels.

"That little rat! Can't wait to get my hands around him." Amiri kicked a rock that smashed into the side of the sycamore.

Hakuno nodded, 'Convincing an entire species to go to war… While they seemed ready for skirmishes… They don't seem like they want war…"

"We should stop him." Hakuno added.

Amiri had a feral grin on her face.

"Finally speaking sense! All this talk not enough fighting."

"I agree, we need to put down this rabid spy."

Robin scratched the back of his head, "I'll follow your orders Master."

"Finally showing him his place!" Linzi added.

"All will return to dust eventually…" Harim lazily stated.

"He will rue the day he betrayed me!" Jaethal grip on her scythe tightened.

The mites welcomed them with open arms and began to lead them to the door when she presented the Relic.

"All we wish is to get the thief Tartuk and we will return the Kobold's relic back to them."

"Yes yes. You pretty boy. You become my King, yes?" Queen Bdahh asked Robin her bulbous head tilted to the side in an attempt to look 'cute'.

"Err," Robin looked incredibly uncomfortable, leading Hakuno to have a small smile on her face.

"Sorry your majesty, Robin is currently my Eidolon, once he is done with his duties… maybe then?"

Robin looked horrified as they walked down the tunnels deeper into the underbelly of the Old Sycamore.

"Guards! Move! By name of Queen Bdahh you leave this place! Leave pretty boy and his followers to deal with the traitor."

Linzi tried and failed to keep Amiri's laughter down as Robin looked like his world was crumbling.

"I don't have protection of the fairies…" Robin muttered dejectedly.

Hakuno could hear a large amount of voices inside 'The Great Hall'

Hakuno took a deep breath attempting to calm her nerves as she put the branch in the strange keyhole.

Thin blue lines spread from the branch as it heaved itself slowly to the side.

Hakuno and her group walked in, Valerie, Amiri and Jaethal leading the front while Hakuno, Linzi, Robin and Harim joined in the back. Numerous Kobolds

Hakuno could feel the eyes on her as soon as the door fully opened, "Ah if it isn't my 'great' rival?" Tartuccio said, his guise of a kobold still in effect as one of his hands was in a portal.

Hakuno couldn't even see inside the portal as it shuddered violently and closed. "Well you are too late. A little advice, never join a race. You are just far too slow."

"Tartuccio give up, we know what you are." Jaethal commented, "You thought you were being crafty but your allegiance to Pitax has been showing since day one."

"The gnome thought he hid well, but alas his mercenaries talked freely once you were asleep." Harim noted dully.

Tartuccio bristled at that, "Oh what of it. Not like any of you are getting out of here alive. Not that any of you actually know what my mission is."

"Why do all of this?" Hakuno asked, her voice calm as she watched a few of the Kobolds attempt to surround the party.

Tartuccio looked down on her. Hakuno stared back at him, Dull Gold met Pale Gold as Tartuccio paused.

"I will not tell you a thing. Aasimar are always trying to be the hero. Even despite the fact I am going to kill you. You do know that right? I will make sure you know. The little Aasimar with the silver spoon will die here and now!"

Hakuno felt the heat generate from the wooden staff he carried.

Her eyes grew wide as she saw the fireball grow larger and larger in less than a second. A wordless command and Robin had fired numerous bolts with which several of the Kobolds jumped and took for their Shaman.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!" Hakuno felt the rush of air as a small form flew in front of her, breathing a sickly green wave against the upcoming fireball and holding it back and another landed on her shoulder firing arrows at the Kobolds now rushing them.

Hakuno commanded her magic to grow Amiri as tall as she could as the Barbarian swung her sword in a large arc hitting numerous of the little kobolds.

The fireball exploded, the push from the breath weapon knocked it off course into Jaethal and the Kobolds that managed to surround her. The undead elf didn't release any sound as she turned to ash. Hakuno's mind froze.

She knew that there was a chance to die.

She has seen numerous people die.

She has killed in a sick twisted tournament before.

She didn't know Jaethal.

But… she died on her side didn't she?

"Master! Control yourself! Or did Dan lose to someone without the conviction to live!?"

Hakuno's mind raced as she watched the small little blue dragon flapping his orange wings in front of her panting heavily from exertion. A little woman with the lower body of a grasshopper stood on her shoulder firing tiny arrows.

Hakuno shook her head as she channeled her magic into Hack as Valerie and the rest of her party finished up the small amount of kobolds left.

'Focus… Can grieve after…'

Tartuccio held his hands as several waves of flames burned Robin's arrows as he kept the Sorcerer at bay.

Roots suddenly branched from the walls as it entangled the kobold finally letting Robin pierce his head with a bolt.

An illusion flickered as his body shifted back and forth from his gnome body and his form of a Kobold.

"Didn't think it would be this bad." He chuckled as he looked down at himself, his normal armor showed several burn marks including one that went through the plate and left red raw skin under it.

"Cheeky bastard got a lucky hit on me."

Hakuno quickly went over to him as he sat down the half grasshopper jumping down from her shoulder to join up with the small dragon, Hakuno paid them no mind as she channeled her Od into him as it began to slowly patch up his smaller wounds. "Think I just need some time, the mana here is really rich. I think… Not a mage." He chuckled.

Amiri picked up the glitching gnome body, "Finally this fucker is dead." Amiri threw his body behind her as she pocketed another branch, a ring and a wand.

"WHAT HAPPEN!" Queen Bdahh and several Mites stormed into the room with the Queen leading, "WE HEARD YELLS!"

"OH NO PRETTY BOY!" Queen Bdahh quickly ran as fast as her little legs could carry her as she began to fret over Robin Hood, his grimace was plain to see.

"IMPOSSSSSIBLE" Chief Sootscale came in, rushing towards the fallen glitching body of Tartuccio/Tartuk.

"SSSHAMAN Traitor!?"

"I knew Purple Hide traitor." Queen Bdahh mumbled as she pulled back from Robin.

Hakuno glanced towards Amiri who nodded as she handed Chief Sootscale his key as Hakuno handed Queen Bdahh hers.

"Much blood issss ssshed. Not eassssy forget. No Mitessss do evil deedsss again. You friend," Chief Sootscale reached his hand out towards both Hakuno and Queen Bdahh, "Welcome Guessssst. Sssstay resssst with ussss."

Hakuno nodded solemnly.

"What a sorry spectacle. The treacherous servant of a treacherous king, who in turn is a mere servant to an even greater power. He impersonates a lesser and dies. A good joke is a powerful weapon, and a bad one could seal the joker's fate. So be it. Rise my unfortunate jester. Your performance is not over yet."

Winds rushed and surrounded the glitching fallen body as his eyes flickered and showed once more with life. With him glancing around he made a quick dash towards an exit.

Once the room was empty once more, the dust began to slowly pile a slow wail began to emerge.

Authors' Note: Well work schedule changed! Had a whole bit about Robin's experience with the mites but removed it as I felt it didn't really add a whole lot. First massive change! Jaethal is out of the party, personally I didn't like her all too much but I do have plans for future changes sprouting from the party's defeat of our Hakuno's rival in purple.

Anyways have a good one, and see yall next time.
