Inside a dorm room, there were two makeshift bunkbeds. Within those bunkbeds, we see four girls each sleeping in their receptive beds. They are all supposedly having a peaceful dream. However, there was one girl who was not having a peaceful dream. The girl in question has short black hair with red at the tips. That girl was Ruby Rose. Her bed was shaking as she seemed to be rolling around in her bed. Ruby was experiencing a nightmare.
-*RWBY*-
Within her dream, Ruby dodged an incoming sword strike. Ruby found herself on black ground with the sky being dark purple. She appeared to be in a dark void. She barely dodged another strike from a sword. Ruby was confused about what was happening.
"What is happening?" Ruby questioned in thought. Ruby ducked as the sword passed over her head.
The attacker in question was wearing a black coat with a red stripe all over. The hood attached to the coat conceals the identity of the attacker. He wielded an evil-looking blade.
To Ruby, she does not know this person or why this person was attacking. As she dodged yet another attack from the mysterious attacker, she needs to fight back. Ruby reached for something on her back hip, but she was confused as she realized there was nothing there. That small distraction was enough Ruby off guard. The attacker came close and struck his knee in the gut, causing Ruby to be lifted off the ground. While in the air, the attacker spun around and delivered a punch directly. Ruby crashed onto the ground and tumbled a bit.
"You are too weak," the mysterious attacker stated.
Ruby attempted to get back up, but her attempt failed as she collapsed to the ground. She watched as the attacker disappeared, leaving a trail of black smoke. Ruby managed to get herself up to a sitting position. Ruby looked beaten as she was breathing heavily. She used her hands to keep herself upright. However, as she placed her hands on the ground, Ruby felt something wet. She checked her hands and realized there was blood on her hands. Ruby looked behind her toward the source of the blood and her eyes widen in shock.
There were three other people on the ground near Ruby. There was a girl in yellow, a girl in black, and a girl in white. She saw her teammates, her friends, on the ground unconscious behind her. Ruby noticed the small pool of blood surrounding everyone. Their beaten bodies don't help their current state. Ruby struggled to scoot toward the closest person, which was the girl in yellow.
Ruby shook the girl in yellow while calling out to her, "Yang, wake up! Please wake up!" There was no response.
"Yang! Blake! Weiss! Please wake up!" Ruby cried out to everyone, but there were no responses. "How could this happen?!"
Ruby struggled to get off the ground, but her body did not have the strength to do so. While she was struggling, she felt someone was watching her. Ruby looked ahead and realized she was not alone. She noticed a person wearing a long black coat with red stripes standing in front of her. Ruby believed the same person from before had returned. Ruby's first reaction was to stand up and defend herself and her friends. But she still couldn't find the strength to do so.
"Did this person cause my friends to be like this?" Ruby thought.
There was no interaction between the two people. Ruby doesn't know what to expect from him. She could feel the person staring at her, but she couldn't look into its face because of the hood. Ruby was scared considering her friends were in a defeated state. She doesn't know if she was next.
The mysterious person motioned as if he was about to say something, but stopped. The person immediately turned and a sword appeared in his hand, she believed the sword was made entirely out of ice and blocked the sudden strike with great speed. Ruby watched as two swords locked into a stalemate against one another. Her eyes widen in surprise. The attacker and the defender were wearing the same black coat. Ruby also noticed the attacker was holding an evil-looking sword from before. She determined the attacker with the evil-looking sword was the same person from before. However, the person with the ice sword was someone different.
"I have come this far to stop now," the mysterious person with the ice sword. "You should know how strong I have become now.
"Just who is this guy?" Ruby questioned.
"They made you weak," the mysterious person with the evil sword responded. Ruby was confused when the two mysterious people started to talk to each other while they are trying to overpower each other. She could only sit there and watch.
"Wait, I don't even know him, but he knows about us?" Ruby thought.
"Well, I guess you don't know me well enough," the ice sword person chuckled. "I will protect them, no matter the cost, and even if it will cost me my own life."
"Why is he protecting us? Are they not allies?" Is he going to die in order to protect us, but why?" Ruby thought as more questions were raised.
"I guess, you have changed. You know very well that you will die doing so," was the last thing the attacker had said.
In that instant, the defender managed to knock the blade away to make an opening. He unleashed a series of attacks at the staggered enemy. However, the attacker quickly recovered to block and parry all incoming attacks. Ruby was amazed by the level of skill they performed. The defender finished his attacks by spinning himself with his swing and striking with added force. The attacker blocked only to find his blade knocked away once more. The defender did not waste any time as he kicked straight into the attacker's chest. Ruby was in awe to see how strong her mysterious protector was.
Ruby watched the attacker crash onto the ground. He tumbled on the ground a bit before completely stopping. The defender held his stance while watching the attacker in silence. After no movement from the attacker, the defender relaxed his stance. Without saying a word, the defender turned around towards Ruby. The defender slowly extended his hand to her, offering his help.
"Don't worry, I will make sure you are safe," the defender spoke to Ruby.
Ruby could only look at the defender's hand in shock. At the corner of her eye, Ruby caught something within her vision. Ruby's eyes widen in shock as the attacker suddenly appeared the mysterious defender. She tried to warn him, but her mouth won't let out any words.
"Look out! He's right behind you!" Ruby's mind screamed.
At that moment, a blade shot out from the defender's chest. Some blood managed to splatter on Ruby. The defender could only look down at the blade protruding from his chest. Blood started to pool around the wound. Ruby was in complete shock at the sight.
"What the hell just happened...? Those were the only words the defender spoke. The attacker only responded by pulling the blade from the defender's back. Ruby watched as the defender fell onto his knees before completely collapsing on the ground. Ruby watched as blood started to pool around the body.
Ruby was horrified at witnessing someone's death right before her eyes. On top of that, there was nothing Ruby could have done to prevent that. Ruby watched as the attacker turned his attention toward her. With the blade in hand, the attacker started to walk toward her. The boots stomped on the ground and echoed with each step as the attacker got closer to Ruby. She tried to scoot away but struggled to move. The shadow of the attacker loomed over her. Ruby shook her head with fear in her eyes. She closed her eyes and screamed.
-*RWBY*-
In the dorm room, Ruby was screaming and rolling around in her bed, making the other girls suddenly wake up. Ruby's screaming was stopped almost instantaneously when a pillow was thrown at her face. The lights were flipped on moments later. Ruby wore a black shirt and pajama pants with a rose pattern all over. Ruby slowly moved the pillow off of her face and looked down from her bed. There was a girl with long white hair with light blue eyes. She wore a light blue nightgown. The girl had an angry look on her face as her beauty sleep was interrupted.
"Honestly, this is the fourth night, you had woken us up with your screaming!" the girl said in annoyance. The girl quickly climbed up to Ruby's bed and snatched back her pillow.
"I'm sorry, Weiss," Ruby said with a sorry look on her face. "I didn't mean to wake you guys up. It's just I had the same dream again."
"Ruby, there is no need to be afraid. Dreams are not real, I would not worry too much," a voice called out to Ruby. Over by the light switch to the room, a girl with long blonde hair with lilac color eyes stood there. She wore an orange top with a burning heart emblem pattern, along with simple black shorts. Despite trying to be supportive, she had a tired look on her face.
"But, Yang, the dream felt so real. I just couldn't help myself. It was the same guy from before, who was willing to die protecting me from harm."
"Ah, Ruby was dreaming about a boy again," Yang teased. "I'm sure you will find yourself a boyfriend soon."
"That's not the point, Yang!" Ruby sounded embarrassed, her face was slightly red. She covered her face with a pillow to make sure no one saw her blushing.
"At least get some sleep now. You only dreamed about it once. The chances of having the same dream again tonight are low. As a reminder, we do have classes in the morning," said the girl from the other side of the room. While laying on a bed, a girl with long black hair along with amber-colored eyes. She had a black bow on the top of her head. She wore a black robe with white trims as her sleepwear.
"Sorry, Blakeā¦"
"Do you want me to sleep with you again, Ruby," Yang said sounding tired.
"Please?" sounding relieved.
"Okay," Yang yawned as she rubbed her eyes.
Yang flipped the switch, allowing the whole room returned back to its dark state. Everyone returned to their respective bed, except for Yang. After Ruby settled in her bed, Yang climbed into Ruby's bed. Ruby snuggled close to Yang for comfort as they started to drift back to sleep. As for the rest of the girls, Weiss tried to resume her beauty while having an annoyed expression on her face as she slept. For Blake, she stared into the dark room of their dorm. Everyone started to dose off except for Blake, who remained laying in her bed while pondering about Ruby's dream.
"Ruby claimed she experienced the same dream again," Blake thought to herself. "How? I doubt anyone could have the same repeating dream for four nights in a row. Who's the guy Ruby was talking about? The way she was explaining, sounded important to her. Also, she said her dream felt real to her. That's why she screamed? I don't understand."
Blake ended her thoughts as she closed her eyes. She believed she wasn't going to find any answers right now. Better to question when she is fully rested. Just like the rest of the girls, Blake drifted back to slumber. The silence and darkness consumed the room as the rest of the night continued without further incidents.
