It was Monday, December 1st, 2014 and the Potters were putting up their Christmas decorations for the year. It was the last year James would be home for all of December as he was starting Hogwarts the next year, so they made it a point to really enjoy this Christmas season.

Harry had put up their tree, an artificial tree they kept year after year that had the lights prestrung. The lights were an LED mix of red, green, yellow, blue, and orange. Ginny had long wanted to have real live Christmas trees, but Harry had never allowed it, citing both the fire hazards of live trees and the multiyear reusability of artificial Christmas trees.

Ginny, meanwhile, had hung up the stockings by the chimney with care. They were classic red stockings with nametags on top in black ink for all five of them.

"James?" asked Harry, "Can you decorate the tree?"

"Yes, dad, " said James excitedly.

"Albus, can you find good spots for the rest of our Christmas decorations?" requested Ginny.

"I will, mom, " replied Albus happily.

"And, Lily, " added Harry, "Would you sing some Christmas songs for us as James and Albus work?"

"I'd love to, " said Lily warmly.

Janes carefully disturbed Christmas balls of various colors on the tree as Lily belted out Rockin Around the Christmas Tree.

By the time James moved on to placing Santa, snowmen, and reindeer decorations on the tree, Lily had moved on to the beloved favorite Holly Jolly Christmas.

As James added a few candy canes to the tree, Lily began to sing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and appropriately hit the line "Hang a shining star upon the highest bough" at the exact nanosecond James placed a silver star on top of the tree.

Once the tree was finished, Harry, Ginny, James, and Lily looked around to see what Albus had done with the other decorations.

They were pleased to see that Albus had hung their wreath on their front door. That was perfect.

The Potters also had stuffed animal versions of Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph. Albus had put Rudolph in his room, Santa in James's room, and Frosty in Lily's room.

"Nice, " said Harry approvingly, "You each get one of them in your room. That's the fairest way to do it."

Meanwhile, Albus had placed a plastic Santa in a sleigh in Harry's and Ginny's room.

"Nice, " said Ginny happily, "We got something in our room as well."

"Yep, " said Albus, "Tried to be as fair and even as possible."

Meanwhile, Christmas glasses with imprints of trees, wreaths, snowmen, and Santa had been put out in the kitchen.

"He remembered to get the glasses out, excellent, " beamed James, smiling at Albus.

"Most rooms in the house got something, " cooed Lily, "Mainly the bathrooms and the print room didn't."

"That's done, " said Harry clearly, "You all know what to do next."

Next nanosecond, all five Potters burst into song.

"We wish you a Merry Christmas. "We wish you a Merry Christmas. "We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"

A shout out to the following members who have added James, Lily, and Brother-Sister Fluff to their favorites and/or follows lists since the last update:
