Tadashi talked about the situation of the human base that the government established, and when Altair heard about it he was a little surprised that the government was successful with this endeavor.
"At first, everything flowed very well, but the truth is, the rich started procrastinating, while the poorer people didn't even have anything to eat, plus the poorer women were prostituting themselves, plus a lot of murder crimes were happening..."
Tadashi said in frustration, he thought that the government could create something similar to what Altair had created here, but it seemed to be impossible.
That was why he thought that this base of Altair, would be the hope of humanity in the future.
"What about the cure this disease or virus, have there been any advances in research?" Altair asked.
Hearing Altair's question, Tadashi sighed and said, "We put together a group of scientist to research a cure or at least a vaccine that would keep us from becoming a zombie, and I'll be honest, just like the government base, the research for a cure went very well initially, but the scientists discovered that zombie cells work completely differently, and end up devouring the cells of humans, making a cure impossible at least in the short term."
The more Tadashi spoke the sadder and more upset he sounded, even Altair was feeling a little strange realizing that nothing was going right for the government side.
Tadashi also didn't mention something important to Altair, which is, this vaccine or cure that the scientists were producing if it was successful, most likely wouldn't be able to be produced on a large scale, so only those rich and powerful would be able to save themselves, while the poorer people would continue to die, and the government knew that if that happened then they would have worse problems than zombies.
They continued talking for quite a while, Tadashi even tried to invite Altair to join the government group, but this was promptly refused by him, after all, his base was doing very well, so why would he leave it for something uncertain.
So after the conversation was over, Tadashi retired back to the government base, but not before leaving some ammunition and weapons with Altair's group, which he thanked them for, since what they needed most at the moment were weapons, and even if Altair doesn't need them, the rest of the group does.
Seeing Tadashi's helicopter leaving, Altair realized that it was already night, and so he quickly went to make his meal and soon after that left to rest.
...
Three years later...
Altair was at the top of a building that seemed to be thirty stories tall and he was looking at the cityscape that spread out in front of him.
"It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?"
Saeko said as she stood next to him, she knew that a hobby Altair developed, was observing the city to which he built together with the members of his group.
"Indeed, we worked day and night tirelessly to build a safe place for people. Not only were we responsible for bringing humans into a new era, we also provided the humans living here with a slight sense of security."
Altair said as he continued to observe the city, three years had passed since he came to this world, and many things had changed, especially Altair himself who looked much older.
The growth of his group, had been constant and without any fail, which led to their current situation, after they reached 100 people in their survivor group their expansion was extremely fast, for in just one month they got more than 1,000 people.
And so on, until they reached the point where there are 100,000 people in their city now, a number so large that even the government has to submit, as even the government cannot control such a group of people as easily as Altair can.
Furthermore, it should be known that Altair was like the ultimate leader of these people, and the rumor that he was the savior of this world only grew, even people outside Japan knew his name.
But of course, not everything went as expected, because Altair remembers that when it was a year since the apocalypse, things had changed drastically, especially the temperature of the plant, as well as the weather, which now seemed much more intense than before.
The zombies were also different after the one year period, they seemed to get stronger, faster, which gave many problems for humanity, there was even an estimate that at least 65% of the current population of the planet are zombies.
Nuclear bombs were used to decimate cities taken over by zombies, which had only made things worse, as the after effects of the nuclear bomb are horrible, as the dust that rises after the impact of the nuclear bomb, caused the climate to change even more intensely.
The city of Altair became so large and important, that the government depended on the food sent by his city to feed the rest of the country's population, which was incredible, at least to Altair.
Even he didn't imagine that he would become the emperor of a city, he was even estimating that if he wanted to he could easily take Japan, but of course, he doesn't intend to do that, since it would only wear out the weapons he fought hard to obtain.
"Even after all this time, I still couldn't complete the main dungeon quest..." Altair thought wistfully.
He had tried everything, and yet he could never complete the main quest of the system, but on the flip side he did dozens of side quests, which earned him a huge amount of points, but since he had no uses for those points it was useless.
Saeko noticed his melancholy look, but chose not to say anything, she already knew the difficulties he was going through, because a year ago, he told her he came from another world and wanted to take her there, but it seems that before going to the other world, he would have to complete a mission here, but he told her, he had not yet completed this mission and did not even know when it would be possible.
Altair really wanted to go home, he was already on top of this world, and all he could do here now, was to stand on top of this building watching his city grow, but that was not something he wanted.
"Go tell the council that I will be leaving for a while..." Altair said quietly, while his eyes that looked a little sad before had been replaced by a glow.
Saeko nodded and went to speak to the council which still consisted of the same people as in the beginning, but with the addition of Minami Rika, Shizuka's best friend.
It has to be said, the meeting between these two women was really a sight for sore eyes, plus after meeting with Shizuka, Rika decided to stay and help the group continue expanding steadily.
Takashi and Rei finally assumed a relationship, which Altair personally congratulated them on, it has to be said that since the small group expanded, Altair rarely left the top of this building, he liked to stay there, watching his city, and this only made him more mysterious to the people who arrived.
All the people of this city knew that there was a man on top of this world who watched everyone, but this only motivated the people of this city to push themselves, as they wanted to impress this man, who could control their lives as if they were nothing.
Kohta also found a very pretty girlfriend, and Altair was not impressed by this, since this boy was good at weapons and knew how to survive, and was also part of the council, so Altair thought that if he couldn't get a girlfriend then he was retarded.
Saya still remained single, and Altair knew why, but he did not intend to answer her feelings for him, at least not for now.
Seeing that Saeko left to talk to the others, Altair sighed a little. He then flicked his right wrist, and there he saw True Longinus emitting a glow.
In these past three years, Altair couldn't remember how many zombies he had killed, but he estimated it to be in the range of 10 million, which was an almost impossible number for anyone.
Besides, even if she didn't leave this building for quite a while, her clones did, and went to various parts of the world to kill the zombies.
"You've really gotten stronger..." Altair muttered, as he mentally made the spear stay at its normal size.
He had recently unlocked a True Longinus skill, and he would like to try it, but he knew that if this skill failed, then all he could do was stay in this world, waiting for the day when he could return home.
"It seems I only have that option..."
With that murmur, Altair's body began to levitate as True Longinus exuded a faint glow, making this sight like the arrival of some God, or God's envoy.
The people walking through the city, looked up and from there they saw this glow, and as they realized that the glow was coming from the tallest and most protected building in the city, they relaxed, but at the same time they were excited, because they knew who lived in that building.
"The Messiah is going to make a move!"
"The Emperor finally showed up!"
"How long has it been since he disappeared?"
All the people in the city began to exclaim, this was because the glow of the spear and the scene of Altair floating was imprinted in the minds of all these people.
At this moment Altair exuded the aura of a god-sent, it was as if anything he wanted to do was possible, even Altair himself felt like this.
Saeko at this moment was in the council meeting room talking with her friends, and from there, they saw Altair floating in the air like a God, a sight that shocked them all deeply.
"Haha, I always knew he was a god among humans!" Kohta said with a smile on his face.
"Looks like it..." Saya muttered as she looked at the scene in front of her, with a bit of sadness in her eyes.
Takashi and Rei were also moved by the scene of Altair flying, not because they thought he was a God or anything, but rather that two years ago, Takashi and Rei's parents turned into zombies, and it made their world view change completely, but in the end, they were helped by Altair, and managed to get out of this deep depression.
And these two remembered a promise that Altair had made back then.
"There will come a day, when I will be floating above everyone, and I will shine brightly, and finally, I will save all people from this suffering."
Those were the words Altair had said, back then, they thought he was just saying that he would make a safe place for everyone, but they didn't expect that he really was floating over all the people, and shining brightly.
"So, he really will..." Rei muttered as she looked at Takashi with tears in her eyes.
"Hm..." Takashi nodded.
Back at Altair, he was looking up to the heavens as he wielded the True Longinus, he seemed to know what he should do.
"The Spear. The true Holy Spear which pierces through God..."
"Suck the ambition of the King of Domination sleeping within me and pierce through the gap of blessing and destruction..."
Altair's voice sounded calm, and was being heard by all the people in the city, or rather all the people in the world, even if some people couldn't see this scene, they could hear Altair's voice.
"You. Announce the will, and turn into a glow..."
Altair was already glowing brightly along with his spear, and in a few seconds a huge beam of white light, swept across the world, enveloping him, like a mother embracing a long lost child.
This was the forbidden ability of True Longinus, the Truth Idea, an ability that was not explained in the novel, but which was extremely mysterious and at the same time powerful, this ability depends entirely on the will of the bearer, and at the same time on the will of the God inside the spear.
And it seems that the God within the spear, had successfully answered Altair's feelings.
The world was enveloped by this white light, and those who were injured, without a body part, who were on the verge of death, were all healed, as if they had never been injured, diseases were cured, and all the zombies were decimated by the blinding white light, it was a beautiful and also peaceful sight.
...
In all parts of the world, people had different reactions...
A group of young people were surrounded by zombies in Eastern Europe, but in the blink of an eye, the zombies disappeared, as if they had never been there, the only remnant being the pair of clothes the zombies were wearing.
Scenes like this were common, and many people even knelt down and thanked Altair for doing this. And how did they know it was Altair? They heard a voice say to them
...
The people of Altair's city, were all looking at him in an emotional way, it was finally over, the apocalypse was over, and all that was left now was to rebuild humanity...
"Looks like it was a success..." Altair muttered from the sky, as he looked at the system notification.
/
Was it a good chapter? I didn't want to prolong Altair's stay in the world of HOTD any longer, so I decided to end it, I hope you enjoyed it, and it didn't seem too rushed.
Also let me know what is the next world Altair should go to.
