Chapter 15
A/N – I've had this on mind since I finished watching Black Sun, so here's a small Drabble. Not sure if I want to turn this into a full story or not after writing this out finally, with Kotaro and Nobuhiko in Remnant as warriors who lived through the Great War, still alive in the time of Volume 1 of RWBY.

Chapter 15 – The Princes of the Grimm Eclipse
Story start.
Legends, Myths, Fairy Tales. You can find no shortage of these in the world of Remnant. From the White Witch in the Woods to The Four Maidens, there are many stories about the past, embellished into children's tales and poems. Yet, there is always a truth hidden within these tales. There truly was a White Witch in the Woods long ago, and the Four Maidens of the Seasons do indeed exist, roaming about the lands with great powers granted to them by a wise, magical hermit.
Don't flatter yourself Ozborn. These two are just as much your problem as it is mine.
Now now Salem, Let us continue the tale first.
You may continue as the world bears down on your kingdom.
As I was saying, there is always a truth hidden within the tales of old, even in the creation myths of the faunus. The Shallow Sea and the Judgement of Faunus both describe different aspects of the creation of the faunus, from being born on the island of Menagerie with mystical water, to their birth in a great war between animal and man. Both have their truths. There truly was a war which led to the creation of the Faunus, and the Faunus Race was born on the island of Menagerie to a mystical liquid, though not from the sea.
Yet they are all wrong in one major way. It was not a God that created the Faunus, but a Monster utilizing the power of Divinity, bearing shards of the Brother Gods divinity. This is the true tale, of the creation of the Faunus race.
Long ago, over one hundred thousand years in the past, there was a great war between two major human kingdoms. One worshipped a beautiful white skinned goddess, while the other was ruled by a terrible old dictator seeking to destroy the opposing land.
And you said I was flattering myself.
Hush dear, your immortal angry wife is speaking. Anyways, a war had broken out between the two kingdoms, with soldiers enlisted from all citizens of the land from the nobility to a simple farmer. One army bore a flag of their goddess, the army of men, while the other army's flag bore the symbol of a Wolf, the symbol of their king, the animal army. The war had been waging for years now, and both sides were tiring of conflict. The land was soaked in the blood of both sides, and neither would relinquish land to the other.
Then one day, the sky darkened. A disastrous omen of what was to come. The battle waging on stopped as the moon began to cover the sun, creating a total eclipse upon the battlefield. Yet that was not all. Falling from the phenomenon came twin crystals, one a vibrant red like the rays of the Black Sun, while the other was a majestic emerald, shimmering like the counter rays of the Shadow Moon. These Kingstones, crystalized shards of divinity left behind by the Brother Gods, descended upon the battlefield and entered the body of a dying soldier.
This soldier wished only for peace to reign once more in his land, but instead found himself put on the front lines of a war which killed hundreds of fathers and mothers all over the land. He was tired of war, which made what happened next more impressive for all. The man was lifted up by the kingstones, and transformed into a new form bearing traits from both brother gods, from large antlers to curling ram horns, and a body more animal than man. The power granted to him made him confident in ending this war, and end it he would.
This new being, dubbed the God of Animals in the myths, quickly ended the fighting with a pulse of energy, separating both armies. He warned that if both sides continued to battle, that he would be forced to destroy them all. They did not listen, challenging the new being to showcase his might. He did so quickly, splitting the earth between the armies as he floated above. Many dropped their arms and fled back to their kingdoms in the face of this new might. Others sought to destroy it, and were flattened by the being's powerful might. As for the rest, they bowed down, believing the new being a God born to end this conflict. These chosen few followed behind this new faction, calling him their King as they were led to a new land across the sea.
It was here that the being blessed the chosen followers with essence from his own body, the essence of Heaven. This azure liquid was used to transform their bodies into new forms, showing their devotion to such a powerful being. Many had changed into more animalistic forms, taking after the creatures of the land, sea and sky, while a few more took on aspects of various plants. These were the progenitors of the Faunus Race, the Kaijin. Soon after they granted their king a powerful new name, worthy of the god who provided them incredible power.
The Creation King, God of Fauna and Flora, and ruler of the kingdom of Gorgom.
When word spread of a new kingdom of monsters on the world, the armies of men banded together to destroy this threat. Former enemies joined forces, as the Goddess and the King went to confront this magical new being with their full might. Though their numbers were vastly more, their armies were decimated by the power of the Kaijins, the strongest being the Three Priests directly under the command of the Creation King. Within them lied stones created by their ruler, bearing the power of the land, sea, and skies to bring their kingdom to prosperity.
The time came when the King and the Goddess of both kingdoms came to the battlefield themselves, to destroy this Creation King and his army of beasts. The battle was waged for several days, and tore the land apart, destroying all three kingdoms. In the end, neither side won. The King lied dead with his fallen kingdom, and the Goddess cast back to her solitary woods with an injury even her immortal body could not fix. For the power of the Creation King, the Divine Fragments of the Brother Gods, was enough to overcome even her curse. Though they had failed to kill their enemy, they had gravely wounded him.
Gorgom rebuilt, as did the Goddess and the Reborn King. Yet the dying Creation King knew his time was short. He needed an Heir to inherit his power, so that his followers could continue to have a powerful protector. As such, he choose two children, born under the light of the eclipse, and granted them the Kingstones of the Sun and Moon, transforming them into Century Kings to rule his kingdom in his stead. He thus named them his heirs, the princes of Gorgom and gave them new names as such. The Inheritor of the Kingstone of the Sun, the divine fragment of the God of Light, was named Black Sun, while the inheritor of the Kingstone of the Moon, divine fragment of the God of Darkness, was named Shadow Moon.
When the Creation King finally passed away, the kingdom of Kaijin continued onward under the rule of their Century King, yet without the Creation King, the essence of Heaven was no more. Children born from the Kaijin began to take more humanlike forms, that of the modern faunus, as they spread out and interbred with humanity once more.
It was only a matter of time until tragedy struck once more. While the kingdom was peaceful, many Kaijin began to fade away as their descendants lost their mighty forms, dwindling down to only a scant few aspects of their animal forms with more humanlike bodies. The exceptions to this being the Century Kings and their advisors, the Three High Priests, whose lifespan was expanded far beyond that of a mortal man.
The younger prince felt overshadowed by his more popular brother, and the calls for more Kaijin to be created was taxing on their kingdom, as the kingdoms of men attempted to push into their homes. It was then that a Witch of the Woods advised him of what to do. She told him that if he were to take the stone of his brother, he would become the true ruler of Gorgom, the next Creation King, for only the Creation King could produce the Essence of Heaven needed to create Kaijin.
As such, the younger brother fought his sibling for control of the kingdom, and took his stone from his corpse. Having earned the stones through bloody conflict, he was transformed into a new form, that of a Creation King. It was only after, that he realized the folly of his actions. While he could now produce the Heaven needed to bless both faunus and man into becoming Kaijin once more, it had come at the cost of his brother. He realized that the Witch was the queen of one of the kingdoms seeking to destroy his empire, and had tricked him into weakening his own lands by sending it into civil war.
In his grief, he destroyed the kingdom of the witch with his new power, turning the lush land into a barren desert, which would become known as the Kingdom of Vacuo millennia in the future. He split the land of his kingdom away from the lands of men, separating them into their own island and separating himself and his priests from the ruler ship of the kingdom, instead ruling from the shadows as penance for his crime.
Time passed once more, with generations of High Priests and their Creation King outliving their kingdom, and watching over their faunus descendants with Kaijin defenders. The time had come once more, with the Creation King feeling power fading from his weakening body. He was dying of old age, having spent his lifetime watching as man and faunus conflicted with one another as he faded into myth and legend. Yet, he knew that if he were to die without an heir, that the immortal witch who targeted his subjects would seek out the Kingstones within him.
Thus, when the Eclipse passed by once more, he choose two children born under its light to inherit his power, for only those blessed by the light and darkness could inherit the powerful divinity of the Kingstones. Two new Century Kings, a new Black Sun and Shadow Moon, to inherit the Kingstones and protect the faunus and kaijin. How foolish he was to expect history to not repeat itself.
The High Priests realized that without the Creation King, Kaijin could no longer be born to help defend their descendants from the shadows. As such, they trained and conditioned the young princes to do what was necessary to protect faunus and kaijin everywhere, warning them of the Immortal Witch and the Infinite Man's influence. When the time came, they pitted the two Century Kings against one another in ritualistic combat, to see who would become the next Creation King of the Gorgom Order. This inheritor was a brutal warrior in his youth, waging war upon the kingdoms of man in his ascension. And thus, the bloody evolution of the God of the Faunus continued. To hide their hidden organization from the world, they spread the stories of The Shallow Sea, and the Judgement of Faunus, to keep alive the history of the Creation King.
And thus, several millenia pass once more, and the time for the next Generation of Century Kings has come again.
Perhaps I will succeed this time in taking one of the princes for myself, and destroy all that you covet dear husband of mine as I take their partial divinity for myself.
You may try my dear, but perhaps I might convince them to join me, and end the dark path you have walked since my first passing.
Even so, the current Creation King is still an issue for us. Perhaps we can convince the princes to destroy their king in the midst of our current conflict?
A plot to destroy our old foe? And who, pray tell, shall bear the wrath of the survivor of that conflict Queen Salem?
Only time may tell King Ozborn of Vale, for the Black Sun and Shadow Moon of the Grimm Eclipse are our only hopes of ending the threat of the Creation King, and possibly each other permanently.
A/N – Hopefully you enjoyed this short reinterpretation of the Faunus Origin Myth incorporating Kamen Rider Black and Black Sun lore. Anyways, this is Keizer Daozang, signing out.
