Adrien sighs. "I'm leaving Paris on Saturday. This is my chance to prepare myself to be able to cue Mari and I'll achieve it even if there's no hope I'll do it I know I will. If only I could see her before leaving."
A few days later Ana went to Adrien's house since Adrien asked her to come since he had something to tell her. Ana was waiting in the living room feeling like a failure. "Mari keeps trying to get away from him but I need to help her forgive Adrien and to admit her feelings for him. They have to stay together."
Mari was laying on her bed thinking about Adrien as Fu was playing with Adrienne.
"I could never forget about you Mari. You're the only woman for me and you know it." Adrien leaned in and kissed her. As much as Mari didn't want to she kissed him back.
"I'm never going to forgive him Fu. I'll never get back together with him." Mari told Fu. "Not even for Adrienne. I'm going to be the only thing she'll ever need. I'll do my best to take care of her. Her life won't change because her dad isn't with her."
Audrey walked to the living room and saw Ana. "Good afternoon."
Ana looked up and smiled. "Good afternoon."
"You must be Ana Mari's friend?" Audrey asked.
"Yes I'm usually always by Mari's side." Ana replied. "I'm her assistant and I help her with everyday things. Now that she's blind I'll teach her good manners. To be more independent as in getting dressed and to count the steps to be able to move around the house by herself. I'm also trying to convince Mari to forgive Adrien since it's not his fault in any of this. I think that it's sad how Mr. Tom and Mari don't want his name to even be mentioned."
"Yes I understand I feel the same way. Adrien has told me about it and I think that's great. I came to parden Adrien for him. He'll be here soon he's finishing some things in the study but he asked me to tell you that he'll be here soon." Audrey stated.
"Are you Adrien's mom?" Ana asked.
"No I'm his ex mother in law. I'm the mother of his first wife and Maya's grandmother." Audrey replied.
"I know what will cheer you up dear why don't we go to the church tomorrow then visit our friends from the neighborhood." Fu suggested.
Mari smiled. "Yea that sounds like a great idea."
Adrien walked in the living room. "Hi Ana I'm sorry for making you wait how are you?"
"It's fine and I'm good what about you?" Ana asked.
" I'm good though I have been busy these last few days." Adrien replied. "How's Mari?"
"Still disappointed that she won't be able to see again." Ana stated. "Why have you been so busy?"
"I'm getting everything prepared to go to the United States on Saturday. I'll be there for about 6 months." Adrien replied. "I'll specialist myself as a ophthalmologist specialist and surgeon. It was originally my profession but I went to psychology instead since I liked it more. Now I need to get myself updated of the new advances in ophthalmology so I can cue Mari."
Ana smiled. "That's great I wish you the best of luck and don't worry I'll keep you updated on everything about Mari."
Father Carlos went to visit Mari and they started talking with Fu. "Mari and I were planning to visit the church tomorrow and visit all of our friends from the neighborhood."
"That's a great idea." Father Carlos stated.
"How's everyone in the neighborhood? Is there any new news?" Mari asked.
"No nothing in specific. Actually Nino wanted to come with me." Father Carlos replied.
"Why didn't he?" Mari asked.
"He had to take Alya to the clinic. They want to start a family but God hasn't given them that miracle yet." Father Carlos replied.
"Hopefully they can have a baby soon since having a child is the best thing that can happen to a person." Mari stated with a smile.
"Yes especially since the birth of a child is the miracle of life." Fu added. Soon Father Carlos had to leave and Fu walked him out. "Well Father Carlos we'll see you tomorrow. Hopefully this will cheer Mari up she hasn't smiled in days."
"I hope so too." Father Carlos replied before getting in the taxi.
Fu was about to walk back in the house when he saw Adrien car drive up to the edge of the house and he got out with Ana. "Hi Fu where's Mari?"
"In her room waiting for you." Fu replied. Ana nodded and walked in.
"Hi Fu how's Mari?" Adrien asked Fu.
Ana walked in Mari's room to see Mari playing with Adrienne. "Who is it?" Mari asked hearing someone walk in.
"It's me Mari Ana. I'm sorry that I'm late I had things to do and usually your mom and you want to be left alone in the morning." Ana replied sitting next to her and playing with Adrienne too. "Do you need something?"
"No I'm fine right now." Mari replied.
"Health wise she's fine but she isn't the happy Mari that she used to be." Fu stated.
"I haven't seen her since that day...and I won't see her in months...I'm leaving to the United States on Saturday." Adrien replied. "Can Mari depend on herself now well at least for the most part?"
"Ana has been wanting to teach her but she hasn't wanted to learn I think that she's afraid." Fu stated. "Don't worry about her she's the same as before well physically and healthy anyway. Oh by the way tomorrow we plan to go to the church and to the neighborhood in the afternoon and it will be just the two of us understand?" Adrien chuckles and hugged Fu.
The next day Tom walked in Mari's room to see her sitting on a chair alone. "Why are you so alone dear? Why don't you go to the garden?"
"I don't feel like it and Ana went to get the laundry." Mari replied.
"I heard that you don't want to continue learning how to be more independent. You won't need to depend on other people to do things for you if you try your hardest." Tom stated.
"There's a lot of time for that but fine I'll continue my lessons with Ana." Mari replied. "By the way is it fine if Fu and I visit the church and my old neighborhood?"
"Of course dear." Tom stated.
Fu and Mari went to the church and Adrien was already there waiting for them but he didn't say a single word as Mari prayed and talked to Father Carlos. Suddenly Mari dropped her purse and she bended down to pick it up at the same time Adrien was going to grab it and their hands touched.
"Is it you Father Carlos?" Mari asked but everyone in the room stayed quiet as Adrien grabed the purse and gave it to her and moved his hand away. "Who is it?"
"It was a man who just walked in the church. He just walked away and I don't know who it was." Fu replied.
"Alright let's go Fu we still need to go to the house of Nino and Alya." Mari stated. Fu nodded and helped Mari walk out from the church. They had to take a city bus to go to Nino and Alya's apartment. "Is their house far?"
"No dear we're close." Fu replied.
"I don't know why Fu but...I suddenly felt a wave lift off my shoulders when that man helped pick up my purse." Mari stated. "I feel like that man is going to be very important in my life. Are you sure that we don't know him?"
"No we don't know him at all." Fu replied. "We have never seen him before."
"I would've liked to talk to him...at least to know what his name was." Mari stated. "After all he helped me." Soon they arrived at the apartment and they started to talk with Alya Nino and their mothers. "We heard that you guys want to start a family."
"Yes we want to start a family but God hasn't given us that miracle yet." Alya replied.
"We are seeing a doctor to see if this problem can get solved." Nino stated.
"I keep telling them to not worry since everything comes at its own time." Marlena stated.
"That's true you guys need to be patient." Mari replied.
"Look who's speaking Mari. You get desperated for not being able to see." Marlena stated.
"Yes but I'm going to learn how to live my life like this." Mari replied with a smile.
"Were you able to see Mari?" Audrey asked Adrien when he walked in the house.
"Yes I saw her at the church but I didn't speak with her." Adrien replied. "That's all that I wanted to see her though I did get to touch her hand. She dropped her purse and we both went to pick it up and our hands touched."
"And she didn't regonize that it was you?" Audrey asked.
"No Fu made her believe that I was a random man who helped her." Adrien replied. "Audrey only Ana and Fu know that I'm going on a trip but only Ana knows the reason why. I asked her and I'm asking you now to not tell anyone why I left until I come back and am prepared to cue Mari. Ana promised me to tell Mari that I left on a trip after I leave."
"Don't worry from me it won't be known the reason why you went on a trip." Audrey stated. "I'm sure that you can trust Ana too."
Later Adrien was at the study studying when he suddenly thought about his encounter with Mari earlier. "Mari...I'm leaving but I'll be back...I'll achieve what others can't or want to do...I promise my love."
The next day Natalie was teaching Maya how to ride a bike that Adrien gave her for Christmas two days ago when Adrien walked over to them. "Daddy this bike looks like Mari's bike."
"Yes and the important thing is that you keep practicing while I finish packing my things for my trip." Adrien replied.
"When do you leave daddy?" Maya asked sadly.
"This afternoon." Adrien replied.
"Alright I'll keep practicing then I'll see you later before you leave." Maya stated and Adrien nodded with a smile.
Later Adrien was putting his things in Edward's car since Edward was going to drop him at the airport as everyone went to say goodbye to him. "Will you visit during the weekends?" Maya asked.
"I don't think so dear I'll have a very busy study schedule." Adrien replied.
"I find it funny that you will be in school like me but I'll miss seeing you everyday." Maya stated.
"Don't worry I'll call you everyday. Plus we'll be able to video call each other now that you got a laptop for Christmas." Adrien replied. "And don't worry your grandma Audrey will take you to see Adrienne as many times as you want."
"We have a lot of time before your flight leaves why don't we go to a coffee shop and talk for a while?" Edward asked Adrien once they were in the car. "It's sad that you won't be my best man for my wedding but I understand."
"Can we go to the Dupain household?" Adrien asked. Edward chuckles and nodded.
Mari was in the garden picking up flowers with Adrienne when Adrien walked to them. He was able to be there with help of Ana Sabine and Fu since Tom wasn't in the house at the moment. When Adrienne saw him she was about to call out to him but he gave her a playful silent signal so she just ran to him and Adrien picked her up hugging her. During all of this Mari didn't even notice that Adrien was there she just thought Adrienne walked to a different part of the flower pacth. Adrien picked up a flower kissed it and signaled Adrienne to give it to Mari. Adrienne gave Mari the flower and Mari took it with a smile as she smelled it. Adrien smiled before walking away bu not before turning around and blowing a kiss to Adrienne then Mari.
'I'm leaving Mari but I'll be back to cue you I promise.'
"I hope that you achieve all of your goals Adrien." Edward told him once they were back in the car. "Even though I find it complicated I think it would be great if you get your doctorates in ophthalmological surgeon and cue Mari."
"I at least want to try." Adrien replied. "I also want to ask you a favor if you ever bump into Mari don't tell her why I went on a trip."
"I don't understand the reason of your silence but sure you can count on me." Edward stated.
"Thanks and don't forget to let me know about anything new you find out about Mari. I can't wait for the next 6 months to past so I can see Mari again and I know that I'll cue her." Adrien replied.
On the plane Adrien took out an ophthalmology book and started reading it.
Adrien was now gone and Ana had to tell Mari. She took a deep breath before entering Mari's room. "Ana is that you?"
"Yes Mari it's me." Ana replied. "I found out something that I think you should know...Adrien went on a trip to the United States and he won't be back for a long time like for 6 months or so."
"And what's Adrien going to do in the United States?" Mari asked.
"I'm sorry Mari but I don't know that." Ana replied.
"Well I don't even want to know anyway. I'm tired of saying that I don't want to hear his name so please don't mention it." Mari said sternly. "I can't stand that Adrien is having fun and enjoying life. While I'm blind because of him and Adrienne is without her father. He left to only be far away from what is accusing him."
Ana wished that she could tell her the real reason why he left. "You shouldn't judge before knowing the whole truth Mari."
"Well I don't care what's the truth. If he's going to redo his life than so will I." Mari replied. "We can start the lessons again whenever you want Ana."
"Did you know that Adrien went on a trip to the United States today?" Fu asked Sabine and Tom.
"I don't care what that individual does." Tom said sternly. "...why did that man go Fu?"
"That I don't know I only heard that he went to Boston." Fu replied.
"Hopefully he doesn't return and get lost forever somewhere." Tom stated. "It's the least that he deserves for what he did to Mari. It's a shame that he left before getting the punishment that he deserves. I wanted to put him in his place myself."
"Tom Adrien had nothing to do with what happened and you need to have faith that something miraculous will happen to Mari." Sabine replied.
"If the best ophthalmologist specialist couldn't do anything. Nothing and no one will." Tom stated. "If there was a possibility than I wouldn't doubt it for a second and do it."
"I understand Tom but be patient. Maybe over time things changed science keeps improving and nothing is impossible for God." Sabine replied. "A miracle could happen and Mari could get operated and get cued."
"I wish that I could be as positive as you Sabine but we have to face the fact that Mari will stay blind." Tom stated. "Mari doesn't even want to leave her room. She doesn't want to learn how to depend on herself though she promised that she would."
"We need to understand her Tom the experience must be terrible for Mari." Sabine replied. "...wait here she comes." They see Mari walking over to them with help of Ana.
Alya was making dinner at the house when Nino suddenly entered with all sorts of baby things. "What's all of this Nino?"
"Isn't it obvious? It's for our baby." Nino replied.
"But we still don't have one and it's unsure if I can be pregnant. I still don't understand why you bought all of this." Alya stated.
"To put them in the nursery room and maybe it gives us good luck." Nino replied with a smile. "There's still time after all we haven't been married for a long time."
"Let's hope so since all I want is to form a family with you." Alya stated. "It would be sad if we couldn't."
"Mari you basically walked here alone. Ana just told you where to go." Sabine told Mari with a smile.
"Well I promised my dad that I would learn and I'm going to do it." Mari replied with a smile. "I'm sure that I'm going to be able to do it. You'll see that very soon I'll be able to depend on myself. It's not even so hard I went up and down the stairs all by myself with help of Ana telling me though."
Adrien couldn't concentrate since he could only think of Mari. "That day I kissed her at the hospital she kissed back. As much as she says that she hates me I know that it's not true. She loves me as much as I love her."
"Don't change the place of any furniture and if something is moved then move it back to the right place. Mari needs to get used to where everything is and be able to find anything in the house." Tom was telling all the employees. "Ana you have been doing your job in how to teach Mari well keep the good work." Everyone nodded.
"I'll do my part too. I'll learn because I don't want to be a burden for anyone anymore." Mari replied. "Or be useless. I'll fight for my parents friends and of course for my daughter Adrienne."
"How's Maya?" Adrien asked Audrey over the phone once he was in his hotel room.
"Great she has spent all day in the garden playing with the bike you got her for Christmas." Audrey replied. "When do your classes start?"
"Tomorrow I don't want to waste a single second." Adrien stated. Later he calls Edward. "Hi Edward I need you to do me a favor. Next Saturday marks three years since Mari and I got married."
On the next Saturday Mari was walking from her room to the main living room all on her own as Ana walked next to her just in case something happened. "You're doing great Mari. Now you can go from your room to the living room all on your own. Let's go back to your room." Mari nodded and turned around to walk back.
Mari sat on the chair. "I'm so glad that I'm able to do this. Very soon I'll be able to walk around the house all on my own."
Fu walked in holding a bouquet of flowers with Adrienne next to him. "Something was brought for you dear."
"Really what is it?" Mari asked curiously.
"A bouquet of roses." Fu replied.
"Who sent them?" Mari asked.
Ana saw that there was a note and she grabbed it. "It says on the note that it's from Dr. Edward Fuller."
"Edward Fuller? Why would Edward send me flowers?" Mari asked confused.
Ana opened the note and read it out loud. "Mari I send these roses to you in the name of Adrien. Today is the anniversary that he remembers with a lot of love even if he's far away from you. With all his love Edward Fuller."
"An anniversary? I don't know why he sends me flowers when he left far away. I don't want them give them back to Edward when you see him. I don't want them." Ana and Fu looked at each other sadly.
