Chapter 1
Moonlight Fate
Age 732
"It is the full moon! It is the night we have long since prepared!"
The Elite soldiers of an alien planet in a distant galaxy, known as Planet Kanassa, gasped as they stared at the full moon in the sky. It was a beautiful and rare sight to behold as the full moon only appears every three hundred years on this planet. However, instead of feeling awe at such phenomenon. The people of Kanassa could only stare at it in dread.
The Kanassans are known for possessing psychic powers such as mind reading, clairvoyance and the ability to see the future through visions or dreams. At the appearance of the full moon, they have predicted that along its rise comes their own destruction.
And it turned out to be a correct prediction as members of the Saiyans have come on a mission to kill the Kanassans. The Saiyans look similar to humans but with muscular builds, odd spiky hair and monkey tails. They are powerful barbaric warriors known for their sheer ruthlessness in combat, conquering and purging other planets to sell it on Planet Trade. There were five of them and they have been sent by the Galactic Emperor, Freeza, in hopes of getting psychic powers. There was a rumor that if one lives on the Planet Kanassa, they could gain these odd abilities. There was a reason why Freeza wished to gain these powers. If the Galactic Emperor was able to read minds and predict his own future, then he could become more powerful than he is and he will be able to destroy any potential enemies to his position as the most powerful in the entire universe.
The Saiyans were also known for having supernatural powers tied with the moon cycle. They are most powerful at the full moon for they are able to transform into their true forms, the Oozaru, gargantuan demonic monkey beasts. Once the five Saiyans have transformed, they have become rampant, filled with their animal instincts and thirst for blood.
It was an evening filled with death, chaos and destruction. The Kanassans fell powerless against these savage monsters. None of their people survived the conflict. The Saiyans were too powerful for them to handle.
Once the sun rose across the horizon, the five Saiyans returned to their normal human forms. They met on a crater on the middle of the decimated city. Their leader, Bardock, a man with his spiky hair stood in six different directions, tan skinned and his face scarred with a cool-looking X mark, lay on his back on the ground. His four squad members surrounded him, talking about the war they had last night.
"Why do you think Freeza-sama wanted this useless planet in the first place?" Bardock asked as he played with the piece of branch in between his teeth, looking up at the plain white sky.
"I don't understand either. It doesn't look like it could have some abundant resources." Pambukin snorted with a look of disgust, waving a hand across the ruins of the devastated city around him. He had a bob like style of hair but with the ends spiked on the sides of his round head. Among his group, he was the biggest.
"From what I heard, there are rumours that there was this strange energy here which is supposed to give you some sort of psychic powers like being able to read minds or stuff like that." Toma explained. He was tall and masculine. His hair is flat at the top and kept in a small but spiky ponytail at his back. His skin is of a shade of dark tan.
Bardock snorted with a look of indifference, spatting the piece of branch he was playing with his teeth earlier into the ground as he pulled himself up. "Hmph! No doubt Frieza would want the ability to read minds."
"That's a scary thought," Totepo shuddered, imagining the horrible face of the cruel white and pink lizard with black horns. "Frieza being able to read minds. Gaah."
Suddenly, a loud, powerful voice boomed behind them. Surprising the group. "I wish you monkeys could read minds so then you could have heard the thoughts of my troops as you slaughtered them!"
A Kanassan survivor emerged out of the rubble behind Bardock. He was known as Toolo, one of the most powerful psychics of the Kanassan race. The Saiyans spun around and fell into their fighting stances to confront the lizard like alien creature. Much to their surprise, the injured Kanassan was able to move so fast enough to stun them and unable to react in time before Toolo was behind Bardock and attacked with a swift punch on the center of his nape. The force was enough to cause Bardock to gasp in pain and he fell face first onto the ground. Pambukin, seeing their leader fall, was quick to snap out of his shock and he fiercely punched the Kanassan on the face. Toolo crashed into the ground and Toma quickly fired an energy blast into him. The Kanassan was then enveloped in light blue fire, converting the destructive energy into his own.
Bardock rose back to his feet as he looked at the lizard creature in slight awe mixed with confusion, "What the hell is going on?!" he asked, confused.
"I have transmuted your destructive force into a more tolerable energy," Toolo explained, "You have come here seeking psychic power... So I have given it to you, Bardock..."
"It can read minds!" Bardock gasped realizing that the Kanassan must have seen through his mind.
"So can you now, Bardock. You now possess the powers that Frieza desires but will never get. I have given it to you... Bardock..." The lizard creature chuckled painfully.
"Why?!" Bardock narrowed his eyes at it.
"I have given it to you for one reason, Bardock. A curse... A curse for all of your misdeeds so you can witness the destruction of your own people, just as how I was forced to watch my own death for so many times!"
With that, the Kanassan laughed loudly. "I saw it... I saw it, Bardock. It will come to you soon. You will see..." Toolo grinned.
"Shut up!" Bardock roared furiously and he turned the creature into ashes with a powerful energy wave.
"That was a weird call. Right, Bardock?! Hey... Hey, Bardock?! Are you alright?"
Bardock suddenly felt dizzy and weak, feeling his powers fade and he collapsed on the ground face first. His team mates quickly checked on him and once they saw his unconscious they decided to bring him to his spacepod and return to their home planet, Planet Vegeta.

Somewhere in the deep reaches of space... A large, disc-shaped spaceship traveled across the Galaxy. It looked like a hermit crab loomed over the sea of stars.
Inside the spaceship was the Galactic Emperor and his soldiers. Freeza was sitting on his throne, with his two right hand men, a pretty faced man with light blue skin and green braided hair named Zarbon, and Dodoria, the large and pink alien with protruding spikes on his arms and head. Freeza's attendant, Beriblu was a short woman with blue skin and light purple hair. And Kikono, a scientist short, diminutive, yellow alien. He has a relatively big head with two antenna on top. These four bowed before the Emperor inside his private quarters.
"Lord Freeza," Zarbon said with a soft-spoken tone. "I received a report about the Assault on Planet Kanassa. The planet has been successfully purged. The planet is all yours now, milord."
"Oh..." that was Freeza's bored answer.
"Kanassa? The planet that nobody among the army wanted to conquer?" Dodoria asked. "Those Kanassans could be a handful because of their odd psychic powers but I know we could overpower them. Who was able to purge it?"
"It is a group of low class Saiyans."
"What? Saiyans?! Impossible! There is no way a group of low class garbage from a race of stinking monkeys could conquer a Planet like Kanassa!"
"I know right? But it is true. These Saiyans' potentials as warriors are truly remarkable. They are becoming stronger as time goes on and we all know that they are even more powerful under a full moon."
"Ha!" Dodoria laughed. "Oh Zarbon, don't tell me you are being afraid of them?"
"Of course not. I'm just saying we should keep an eye on them. We won't know when they start to rebel against us. They are a warrior race after all."
Freeza listened on to their conversations. Listening and considering Zarbon's words. He frowned when he suddenly remembered something.
"Ah... Zarbon-san. Now that you mentioned of the Saiyans, when is Queen Saya going to give birth to her child?" asked Freeza.
"I heard it will be today, sire." Zarbon said humbly. "They should be reporting to us once the child is born."
"Ah yes... I wish to hear some news about the child. King Vegeta have waited so long for this."
~=o-O-o=~
At the Royal Palace of Planet Vegeta, the King of the Saiyans, King Vegeta III, sat anxiously on his throne as he listened to the words of the kneeling Minister of Astrology before him. He just received the news of his Queen about to give birth to his first born.
"Your Majesty, I bring to you my predictions of the upcoming Prince's destiny." said Renso, the Minister of Astrology who was on his knees before the King.
"Report." the King said in a groggy voice. It was already at midnight when the Queen experienced the signs of a woman about to give birth. He was tired but when he learned his first child may be born today, he became restless and quite excited.
"Basing on the power scale reading done by Doctor Malaka on the Queen's last maternal check-up, the Prince is expected to have a power level of ten to fifteen thousand at birth. Today is the nineteenth day of the first month of the year of water monkey Age of seven hundred thirty-two. Those who are born within this day are going to be brave, fearless, ambitious, outgoing, determined, proud and a born-leader. In two hours, the moon will rise at its fullest phase, which could only signify that the Prince will become a powerful, ruthless and vicious Saiyan warrior. The northern star, Riyel will be aligned with Sairil, these two stars are famously known for power and greatness. It could mean that the Prince will one day become a great and powerful ruler. With all these signs at reach, it would be wise to have the Prince born between 3h to 6h in order for him to become the one to realize the prophecy of the Legendary Super Saiyan and be the greatest King our race will ever have.
"However, if all these are not met, therefore... The prince may still possess all these qualities to become a great King and warrior, but, as with the red moon arising on this day, it could also mean a bad Omen."
"A bad omen? What is it?"
"Due to his outgoing personality, the Prince may die at a very young age. I could see darkness enshrouding his future, which may signify that his life may become full of hardships, loneliness and he will always be close to death."
"What did you say?! Are you saying that if the Prince is not born between 3h and 6h, he will have a life full of hardships and then he will die at a young age?!"
"That's why I'm telling you, your Majesty! The Queen must hold on until it is the right time for the Prince to be born!"
~=o-O-o=~
At the Royal Infirmary inside the Palace, the medical staff prepares for the Queen's labor and delivery for the long awaited Prince. The beautiful Queen Saya lay on her birthing bed, grimacing and moaning in pain. The medical staff, including Saiyan Doctors Shito, Moroko, and the female Medic Assistant Nion along several nurses surrounded the Queen.
"Your highness, His Majesty said that the Prince must be born between 3h and 6h. Please endure it. You must hold on for three more hours." Nion said as she wiped the Queen's sweat with a damp white towel.
The Queen cried out in pain, tears falling from her eyes as she heard Nion's words. It was her duty as Queen to make sure that the child she has on her womb will satisfy the King as he will be the heir to the throne of the most powerful warrior race in the universe. Yet, the pain was unbearable. The baby was strong and impatient and it felt as if he was gnawing inside her womb, trying to force himself out. She did her best to hold on, willing for her son to be more patient. Doctor Shito injected her with some drugs which will help lessen the pain and contractions of her uterus until it was time. Nion and Monoko encouraged her.
At King Vegeta's throne room, King Vegeta waited anxiously, hoping his son will be delivered at the right time. He had given strict orders that the advice of the Minister of Astrology be followed. The child was the King's long awaited hope if the predictions were correct.
Three hours seemed like eternity for everyone in the Royal Palace. The full moon above the night sky suddenly glowed with its heavenly light, and so as the two stars in the northern hemisphere. Along it, the Queen suddenly cried out with an ear piercing scream. The pain shocked her when the baby almost literally crawled out of her birth canal, violently forcing himself out.
"It is time, your Majesty!" exclaimed the Minister of Astrology. At the same time, the cry of a newborn baby filled the halls of the royal Palace.
~=o-O-o=~
Bardock was inside a medical tank, submerged with the healing liquid. Doctor Malaka, a reptile like alien with green skin and orange Mohawk hair attended to him as Bardock's crew and his wife, Gine, waited patiently. Malaka was busy checking on Bardock's brain waves using a radiographic imaging machine when he got a rapid and almost abnormal reading.
Bardock was dreaming - or it could be. His eyebrows twitched as he tried to make sense of the images he was dreaming about. For some reason, he could hear the cry of a newborn baby in his ears. The moon was full as the child was born. He had no idea who the child is but he looked just like the King. Is the child the upcoming Prince of the Saiyans? He guessed. There was another baby crying, a girl born on sunrise. This one he doesn't recognize. She doesn't seem like Saiyan at all.
The prince grew up to be quite an exceptional warrior, he was a true prodigy. The other child also grew up, a pretty little female with blue hair and blue eyes. She was an alien girl yet she was with the prince. They were just little children. Bardock couldn't understand what the prince got to do with the girl but they seemed to become good childhood friends. They were being chased around by people who wanted them both dead. The prince saved her and then suddenly the girl became the Crown princess. The prince was pleased with her and he courted her at some Pavillion in the Royal Palace. The two children had many moments together. And then, there was a solar eclipse. The sun sets and the skies darkened as the new moon appeared. The prince crying his heart out and roaring in pure, animalistic rage. Abruptly, there was a golden light. The light was blinding and the power it radiated was overwhelming. There was violence. So much blood, death and destruction and then a planet exploding. Was it Planet Vegeta?
Why was he seeing all of this? He cannot understand!
Suddenly, he saw the last Kanassan Survivor in his last moments, laughing back at him, repeating his last words.
"I have transmuted your destructive force into a more tolerable energy. You have come here seeking psychic power... So I have given it to you, Bardock... You now possess the powers that Frieza desires but will never get. I have given it to you... Bardock... I have given it to you for one reason. A curse... A curse for all of your misdeeds so you can witness the destruction of your own people, just as how I was forced to watch my own death for so many times! I saw it... I saw it, Bardock. It will come to you soon. You will see... Bardock... Bardock..."
"Bardock! Bardock! Wake up! What is happening to you?! Bardock!" he could hear his wife's voice somewhere distant. Bardock tried to find her resonant voice and reached out to her, allowing it to help him get out of this nightmare.
Bardock gasped in aghast as he shot his eyes open.
~=o-O-o=~
"Your Majesty, it is me, Doctor Shito." said a voice outside the throne room.
"Come in." King Vegeta, who was still sitting on his throne, ordered.
Doctor Shito came in swiftly and rather hastily before kneeling down to the ruler of the Saiyans.
"Your Majesty. It is the Prince." Shito said. "The Prince was born at exactly 3h with a newborn power level of thirteen thousand. He greatly broke all previous records in Saiyan history. He is indeed a real prodigy. Our long awaited hope! Congratulations, your Majesty!"
"Congratulations, your Majesty!" everyone around him exclaimed as they all bowed down.
King Vegeta couldn't help the feeling of joy and relief at the news brought by his medical staff. He smiled gratefully and proudly.
"Good job, all of you." he said. "Finally, our long awaited hope has come! Everyone, greet the Prince accordingly to the Royal Law!"
"The Prince has been born!"
Trumpets blew and bells rang at the top of the Royal Palace as the Spokesperson of the Royal Family of the Planet Vegeta howled these words repeatedly as he waved the royal blue flag bearing the image of red Saiyan Royal Crest. Other Offices rang their bells to welcome the Royal baby. The Saiyans rose from their slumber at the sound, word about the Prince's birth spread across the Planet.
"Everyone, come and greet the Prince accordingly to the Royal Law!"
Saiyans began to gather at the royal city.
~=o-O-o=~
Meanwhile, at the public clinic where Bardock was dressing up into his clothes consisting of a dark blue and green Battle Armor, dark blue combat pants, long red armbands with matching leg warmers and black and green boots...
"What's up?" Bardock asked as he fixed the green gizmo they call as scouters, on his left ear. He could hear the trumpets and bells nearby and wonder why the King was summoning everyone at the royal City.
"It seems that the Prince has finally been born. Everyone is gathering at the Royal City to give their respects and greet him." Gine said with a smile.
There was a look of surprise on Bardock's face. "The Prince?"
It took him almost ten months travelling to Kanassa and back to Planet Vegeta that he had no news about any of that. Still, hearing about Gine's words made Bardock feel a bit uneasy. He could barely remember the horrible dream he just had. He knew it involved a certain Saiyan prince but he was unsure if the newly born prince was the one in his dream.
"Yes. Our long awaited Prince." Toma smiled.
"Come on. We must come and give him our respects." Gine said as she touched her husband's forearm.
"Yes. We better be quick or the King might sentence us to our deaths if we don't." Pambukin laughed.
Bardock, Gine, Toma, Totepo Pambukin and Seripa made their way out of the clinic.
"By the way, where is Raditz?" asked Bardock, looking for his son.
"He's with Turles and Kanba. They are probably already there. We must meet them there." Gine replied.
"I see."
They joined the crowd of Saiyans gathered on the spacious courtyard below the balcony of the Royal Palace.
~=o-O-o=~
Inside the Palace, the King arrived on the Queen's private chamber where Queen Saya rests on her bed after her delivery. Beside her was her newly born baby wrapped with the best silks the universe has to offer. The sleeping baby was tiny for a newborn but he sure was strong. King Vegeta smiled warmly at his Queen, kissing her forehead lightly and saying a soft, yet grateful 'Thank you' to her ear. Saya gently smiled back at her mate and they both stared at their child.
"Your Majesty, here is your little heir. Look at him, he looks exactly like you." Saya said lovingly.
King Vegeta chuckled at his mate's words. She was indeed right. He reached out to pick his son and held him on his arms. He stared at the boy with the pride of a father. The prince has the same flame-like array of dark brown hair on his head and a widows peak like his father's. His eyes, though closed, was obviously the same shape as the King's as well, which were narrowed and slanted, with dark irises.
"My son, my long awaited pride and joy..." he declared. "You bring honor to our royal name! Your battle power is indeed that of a true prodigy! You are indeed our people's only hope! You shall carry the pride of the Saiyans and realize the legends! You are destined for greatness! I promise you, that I will make sure that you will grow up to be different than me or our people. You will become a true and proud Saiyan warrior, the greatest king our people ever had! I will never let you be the way I am, who is a puppet and a coward fool to the Galactic Emperor. You will become the most powerful warrior among all! One day, you will save everyone from the evil clutches of the Galactic Emperor! And when you destroy Freeza, you will rule not only Planet Vegeta, but the entire universe!
"Your name shall be legendary, remembered and feared in the history of not only our kingdom but the entire cosmos! I cannot wait until I see you grow up to become a vicious king."
King Vegeta rose from being seated, and with his first born son in his arms, turned to walk out of the Queen's chamber towards the Balcony where his spokesperson awaited. Below them were hundreds of thousands of Saiyans gathered and waited to greet the Prince.
The spokesperson, also the attendant and right hand man of King Vegeta, whose name is Rikku, approached the King and bowed before the father and son pair. The King gave him a silent order to make the announcement. Rikku reached out his hands and the King passed on his baby son into his attendant's arms. Then the King walked over the edge of the balcony to face his waiting people. Rikku followed behind him.
"His Majesty has arrived!" Rikku exclaimed in a loud, powerful voice.
Everyone below bowed and lowered down to one knee in respect to the Proud, regal leader. The King looked over at his kneeling people before shouting in a powerful voice so everyone could hear him loud and clear.
"Greetings, my people. I am glad to see you all in here to share in our joy on this glorious occasion. Our ancestors before us have struggled to become the most powerful warrior race the entire universe had ever known. We have been through so many tough battles yet we survived no matter what. We never give up, defying all odds and rise on the top! However, even in this state there are still beings out there who are much more powerful than we could ever imagine, and one of them is a tyrant to which we are all forced to serve. I promise you all that one day, no more Saiyan will take any orders from the Galactic Empire ever again! Our only hope, our savior has finally come to us! The chosen one who shall fulfill the prophecy of the awakening of the one true Legendary Super Saiyan! Allow me to introduce to you my son, my legacy, the long awaited Prince of all Saiyans, my heir to this great Saiyan kingdom, Vegeta the Fourth!"
Rikku stepped forward and raised the baby into the air for everyone to see. There was a loud, unified cheer and gasps of awe coming from the people around them.
Amongst the kneeling crowd, Bardock stared in complete astonishment at the baby prince being presented to them. He knew he saw that child in his dreams a few moments ago! Bardock tried to recall the images on his head but they were now unclear to him. No matter how hard he tried to remember, he just couldn't. He was only trying to give himself a migraine.
"Bardock!" Gine hissed at him as she pulled his wrist to force him down to the ground. Bardock didn't know he was rising from his kneeling position as he tried to recall his vision from earlier but Gine's call snapped him back to reality. "What the hell are you thinking? Do you want to die?! You cannot gawk at his Majesty or the Prince that way!" she scolded.
"Sorry..."
King Vegeta's words interrupted them as he commanded with a loud, imperious voice, "Turn on all of your scout scopes and scouters! Take a good look and see it for yourselves! This child, even for a newborn, has greatly surpassed all previous records of newborn power levels and is already stronger than any elite fighter ever!"
Simultaneous and rapid beeping sounds came from everyone's surveillance scopes and scouters, there were several gasps of awe, disbelief and shock at what they saw was the reading of the baby Prince's power level. It was way above than any of them. Some were fascinated while others cannot believe that only a newborn baby has this much power. Was it even possible? Is he even normal? What is the child going to be like when he grows up? How much stronger could he become by the time? Is he really the one to realize the prophecy? Will he become the Legendary Super Saiyan one day?
"You have witnessed the boy's great power. Even I was completely astonished by his prodigious abilities. He has surpassed me even as a baby. How could a father not be proud of this child? Everyone, come and give your respects to your Prince!"
Everybody put on his right fist over his left chest as they lowered their heads. Elite soldiers made gun salutes in honor. It prompted sudden cheering from the crowd.
~=o-O-o=~
Afterwards, there was a celebration, an impromptu birthday party at the Royal Palace. Everyone is invited to free food and drinks provided by the Royal Palace. There were singing, dancing and shouts of "Happy Birthday" and "Congratulations!"
The celebration swept across the entire Saiyan Kingdom. News of the Prince's birth reached out of Planet Vegeta and tributes poured in from neighboring and allied planets. Not even the Galactic Emperor missed the news, delivered to him by his right hand man, Zarbon.
"Freeza-sama. I just received the news of the Saiyan Prince's birth."
"Ah... Finally." Freeza smiled at the words relayed to him by Zarbon. "How is he?"
"The Prince is extraordinary. I heard he has greatly broken all previous records of power levels in the Saiyans' history."
"Impossible! A mere newborn baby has that much strength?! One could already destroy a bunch of planets with that kind of power!" Dodoria gasped in disbelief.
"It is exceptional, indeed. They believe that the Prince is the chosen one who will realize a thousand year old legend about the Warrior they call a Super Saiyan."
"Super Saiyan?"
"The scouts we sent have looked into it and tried asking a few locals about this 'Super Saiyan'. They said the Super Saiyan, along with another known as the 'Super Saiyan god' are figures from some folklegend and children stories about Saiyans possessing extra ordinary abilities that is beyond any other of his kind. One possessed a highly destructive power along an unsatiated desire for battle, which he cannot control he ended up destroying himself and the Saiyans' original homeworld. The other possessed the divine powers of a god but besides that, no local knew anything more about this 'Super Saiyan god'. Knowing the Saiyans' fond for battle, it seemed that they cared more for this Legend of Super Saiyan than the other."
Freeza frowned, feeling something odd and uncomfortable when he suddenly remembered something. "Zarbon-san... Do you know the reason why I desired to get my hands on that Planet Kanassa?"
"Not much, sire. Although I have heard about rumors that there is some sort of strange energy there in which you could obtain some sort of psychic powers like mind reading or the ability to see the future."
"That is correct." Freeza agreed. "You see, I had an odd premonition."
"A premonition?" repeated his two trusted men.
"I've been having strange, foreboding feelings lately. I'm thinking it over... I feel that a mere Saiyan monkey is about to rise to some sort of unimaginable power. A Saiyan who might become a genuine threat to me. After all, the Saiyans are extraordinary warriors. They get stronger after every battle they face and survive. If you're telling me that King Vegeta's son has this unusual amount of battle power in him despite being just a newborn baby, then there's no telling what this child could become once he stares at the full moon. Even if you tell me that these 'Super Saiyan' and 'Super Saiyan god' are just nothing but fictional characters from a children's fairy tale... There must be something more than to it, probably some sort of origin in order for these Saiyans to believe that a mere newborn baby could become such figures."
"Yes, I agree. What are you planning to do then, milord?"
"I am sure these monkeys, most especially their foolish King, are looking forward for this baby Prince to grow up and become their savior against me and my Empire. No matter how powerful this child gets he will never be a match against me. Ohohohoho! The more I think about it, the more I become curious into meeting this child. How about we go on a stop to Planet Vegeta and give our congratulatory gift to the King and the newborn prince?"
"That would be a great idea, sire."
~=o-O-o=~
Meanwhile, Bardock and Gine returned to their humble home. It was a simple studio type home made with mud bricks. Their son, Raditz was already there waiting.
"Dad! You're finally back!" the seven year old child with long spiky hair it went down to his ankles and a mean looking face greeted his father. He jumped forward to wrap his little arms around his father's waist.
Bardock didn't respond. With a tired look, he waved his son off without saying any word and he proceeded to sit in front of the small wooden table. Raditz pouted, feeling bad about his father's sudden cold treatment to him. Gine knew something was bothering her mate so she instructed their son to go to bed.
"But mom!" Raditz protested. He just wanted to spend some time with his father who he has not seen for ten months.
Bardock snapped and glared angrily at his son, "Do as what your mother told you, brat! I am in no mood to deal with you right now!" he scolded. Raditz made a pout and he reluctantly obeyed, stomping all the way to his bed.
"Now now..." Gine warned. She decided to let Raditz' disrespect slip for a while and turned her attention to Bardock.
"What's the matter, Bardock?" asked Gine, finally feeling anxious of her mate. "You're acting odd since you came back from your purging assignment. How did it go?"
"We have successfully purged it. The planet is Freeza's." Bardock responded with a disgruntled tone.
Gine was pleased at her mate's accomplishment. "That's a good work for you, dear. Then why are you feeling so glum about it?"
Bardock stayed silent for a few moments, wondering if he should tell her what that last Kanassan cursed him or the strange images he saw on his dreams.
"Come on, Bardock. Tell me." Gine encouraged.
It took some more silent moments as Bardock considered his options. He decided that it wouldn't matter. The beautiful woman before him is his mate, a person he could trust with everything. He turned and looked at her in the eye, full of trust and love.
"We were sent to purge a Planet called Kanassa." Bardock finally voiced out. "It was a planet of warriors notorious for their psychic abilities. There was a rumor that one could gain these psychic powers through some sort of energy. There was a full moon so we were able to easily wipe out all of the Kanassans by transforming into Oozaru, save for one. This final survivor had unleashed an attack on me with a dirty trick. I was angered and I killed him. On his dying breath, he told me repeatedly that he has given me the power to see the future of my people as a curse in which I could see our own destruction. I was unsure what he meant by that and of course, I did not believe any of it...
"Before I woke up on the medical tank, I had this strange dream about two newborn babies. It seemed that their fates are tied with both the moon and the sun. These two children will meet one day and they will become an unseperatable duo, maybe even getting involved with some sort of puppy romance. Then there was an eclipse. The moment the sun set, the new moon rises, enshrouding the world in total darkness. I don't really understand much of it. It doesn't make any sense at all."
Gine sat next to her mate, trying to analyze his dream. "Yeah. It doesn't make any sense. Maybe these visions you have are trying to tell you something. If the Kanassan Survivor indeed has cursed you with a psychic power to see your own destruction, then..." Gine said before she suddenly gasped in astonishment.
"I think I got it!" Gine exclaimed. "Listen here. Two babies whose destinies are tied with the Moon and the Sun. You dreamt of that, right? But the Sun and the Moon cannot meet each other unless through an eclipse. An eclipse usually meant some sort of bad Omen. What else did you see?"
"The Prince..." Bardock muttered.
"The Prince. What about the Prince?"
"I saw the Prince in my dream. He was the same baby as the one the King presented us earlier. He was one of the two babies I dreamt about."
Gine nodded, considering his words in deep thought, "Traditionally, the Moon symbolizes a Saiyan Royalty, especially the King and his heir. The Moon is the source of a Saiyans' true power - thus it also represents the pride and power of the Saiyan Race. Being the most powerful Saiyans, the Royal Family shoulders the pride and power of the entire Saiyan Race. The child whose fate is tied with the moon - is Prince Vegeta?"
"Now do you see why I looked so astonished when I saw him earlier?"
"Yeah. I see it now. Then who is the child whose destiny symbolized the sun?"
"That... I don't know..."
"Whoever it is, I am sure it will be important to the Prince. The Moon cannot shine without the light coming from the Sun. If they meet, and he loses his source of light..." Gine's eyes widened. "When the sun sets, a new moon rises, enshrouding the world in total darkness. That's what you said, right?"
Bardock nodded.
"Therefore, we have to prevent the Prince from meeting the child of the Sun!"
"Why?"
"Because if they meet, the sun is going to die. If that happens, then Planet Vegeta will suffer from darkness."
Bardock frowned, an image suddenly flashed on his eyes, though it could only be just his imagination. The violence, there was a lot of blood and there was a devastating destruction - and a Planet exploding?
"So you're saying..?"
"The Prince could be the one who will destroy us all."
~=o-O-o=~
King Vegeta glared at the window on his side as his attendant reported to him that the fleet of the Freeza Army are coming his way right now. It has been just half a day after his first born son's nativity and the Freeza force suddenly arrived without any word. What has made Freeza come in here at this time?
Without any other choice, King Vegeta led his group of councilmen and generals to meet the Emperor of the Universe, considered to be the most ruthless man of all. They gathered at the courtyard where the main ship of the fleet landed. Several armored alien soldiers came out of the ship, then came down Beriblu, Kikono, then Dodoria and Zarbon. The aliens quickly stepped aside when Freeza, still in his egg-shaped black and gold hover pod appeared. He floated down the ramp into the path his men until he was in front of the King of all Saiyans. The Saiyans behind King Vegeta, as well as the rest of the guards and soldiers nearby, fell to their knees as if to worship the evil tyrant before them.
"Welcome, Freeza-sama." King Vegeta, who remained standing greeted. As proud as he is of being King of the Saiyans and this Planet Vegeta, he did his best to hide away his unease of the other man's presence and stood his ground. He offered him a hand as if for the Emperor to shake as means of formality.
"It has been a long time, King Vegeta." said Freeza in an icy tone. Ignoring the hand being offered in his direction, Freeza's scarlet eyes bore into the Saiyan King's soul and utterly freezing it with sheer terror. Freeza seemed displeased of King Vegeta's way of thinking he was nearly equal to himself. What a foolish monkey.
The suddenly fear-stricken king automatically collapsed to his knees as if Freeza had hit his legs with an invisible attack.
"Wha... What brings you to Planet Vegeta, sire?" King Vegeta asked in a shaking voice.
"I heard the wonderful news of your first born's nativity. I am here to give him my presents."
King Vegeta's head shoot up to look at Freeza with eyes wide in surprise. How the hell did Freeza know about that?
As if the Emperor read his mind, Freeza answered, "You should know that I have eyes and ears on this planet. Now then, I would like to see your son."
King Vegeta was reluctant. If Freeza learned of the Prince's latent potential, there's no way he would let the boy live. While he was proud and arrogant to show his boy to his own people, he wanted to hide him from the rest of the universe until he was ready to fulfill his destiny.
But he had no other choice. If he defied Freeza here, he would only provoke the Emperor into killing him and his men. He has to give into his wishes and pray that nothing bad would happen to his only hope.
"Bring the Prince to me, Rikku." King Vegeta said to his right hand man.
The Saiyans behind him stared at him for a while as if he grew a second head but quickly regained their composure.
"As you wish, Majesty." Rikku said and he quickly disappeared to get the baby prince.
When Rikku returned with Queen Saya and the sleeping Prince Vegeta wrapped with royal blue silk in her arms. Freeza smiled and let out a chuckle of delight. He raised his arms forward, silently ordering the Queen to give her son to him. Trying her best not to show her hesitation, she offered the Saiyan Prince to Freeza. Both King Vegeta and Queen Saya silently prayed for Freeza not to harm their first born son.
"Ohohoho! What a wonderful child he is! He looks exactly like you, King Vegeta!" Freeza exclaimed in delight as he looked at the baby prince in his arms, like a grandfather meeting his grandchild for the first time. Everybody stared at the Galactic Emperor with perplexed looks.
"Zarbon-san. Dodoria-san. Please present the King and Queen my gifts for this child."
His two men offered the Saiyan Royals several boxes filled with almost everything the child would ever need.
"Th-Thank you... Fu...Freeza-sama-," King Vegeta said but his words were cut off when he heard the baby prince suddenly wailed out loud. As soon as the child began crying, everyone's scouters quickly lit up, showing rapidly increasing numbers on-screen. King Vegeta looked like he wanted to shut the baby up to stop the boy's power from rising.
"Oh my..." Freeza said in surprise, seeing the number on his scouter. Everyone on his side looked at him and the baby with stupefied looks. "15,000 for a day old Saiyan baby? So the rumors I heard of was correct after all."
Now seeing it with their own eyes, Zarbon and Dodoria were both astonished to find that a mere Saiyan baby possessed this much power. If the premonition Freeza told them about is correct, then there's no wonder why the Saiyans think of this Prince to be the chosen one to fulfill a thousand year old legend.
Freeza stared at the pale faces of the Saiyans kneeling before him. His assumptions were correct after all. These traitorous monkeys count on this child as their salvation to him. If he recalled his foreboding feelings lately about the extraordinarily powerful Saiyan becoming a threat to his greatness, there's no doubt that this child is the one.
He must nip the bud before it's too late. He must destroy the boy before he becomes the one to destroy him one day.
Author's Notes: Have you ever heard of a fanfic of another fanfic? Well, I guess I am writing a fanfic of my own fanfic. Sounds weird huh? But seriously... The idea of this story came to me while I was writing 'A Love Destined by the Moon and the Stars (ALDBTMATS)' , now known with a new title as 'Moonlight Destiny'. Episodes 17 and 20. Specifically, the scenes about the couple jewelry Vegeta found on the Alien Merchant's Ship which he gave to Bulma later on. When I was writing the words of the Merchant to the noble Saiyan (whom he didn't know was the Crown Prince of the Saiyans) he told him of some tradition as to why the fortune of royal heirs are determined by the alignment of the stars (or some celestial body). During that time, I thought of making a prequel story to Moonlight Destiny about the Prince Vegeta's birth, the Prophecy of him being the Chosen one to fulfill the Super Saiyan Legend and save his people from the Galactic Empire, etc. (Thus where the title 'Moonlight Destiny' came from). On Episode 20, Vegeta mentioned to Bulma about how he considers himself as the Moon while Bulma is his Sun. In Sageuk Korean Dramas, the King is usually the Sun while the Queen is the Moon, representing the yin and the yang. On contrary, I saw Vegeta as being the Moon, despite being royalty, because of his Saiyan nature and how his true powers (as an Oozaru) is tied with the moon's phase. Bulma, on the other hand, represents the Sun instead - as she was born on August 18th and her ruling planet as a Leo is the Sun.
The theme of the 'moon falling in love with the sun but their love is forbidden' is an interesting story for me to explore. While the ideas were initially meant to be a prequel to Moonlight Destiny, I thought that it might be too late for me to write as a prequel. Instead, I decided to elaborate the ideas to create a new story following that theme. My only problem is that there were some elements on this story that is the same (though not exactly) as that of 'Moonlight Destiny'.
Anyways, you may either consider this as another story on its own or if you have already read 'Moonlight Destiny', take this as an alternate universe fanfic of that story. Thank you for reading this pilot chapter. I am hoping that you'll love it.
