And She Smiled to be in His Arms as She Wept
Rating explanation: …because I said so. Hmph. wonders if the real Inu no taisho says "Hmph."
"Sun rises…"
Meryl blinked sleepily in the late afternoon sun. She'd been sitting on this bench since noon.
"Night falls…"
Vash had been sitting next to her, surprisingly quiet for once. At least, up until he started singing.
"Sometimes, the sky calls…"
It was actually quite nice. Who knew the moron had such a nice voice?
"Is that a song there? And do I belong there?" He sang softly, sadly.
A lump formed in the girl's throat, as her vision blurred. In fact, who knew he could cause her to cry? He was no stranger to making her mad. He excelled at getting her to yell at him. But cry? Practically impossible.
Suddenly, she noticed he had stopped singing. She looked over and saw his eyes widen as he saw her tears. "Oh, man…Are you all right, Meryl?"
The way he said her name was the final wave against the old seawall. "Hold me, Vash."
He complied after a moment's hesitation, gently reaching out and drawing her close. In his arms, Meryl rested her forehead against the side of his neck, thankful that he didn't ask any more questions.
And she smiled to be in his arms as she wept.
A/N: I do not really know why she cried. Is that not strange? The song is "I'm Going To Go Back There Someday."
