Rendezvous with a Chance of Rain

Malori never actually thought she'd get as far as dating Vel. Sure she dreamed of it for a long time, she flirted and proposed a lot. But to have it actually come true was better than any dream she's ever had. Sometimes she wasn't even sure it was real. But when Vel looked at her with so much admiration, like the one Malori looked at her for a long time now, it had to be real.

"Sorry, did you want long Quee- I mean Vel?" Vel looked at Malori up an down, making the mage so much more nervous than before.

"No. It doesn't matter. You're here now. Come on, lets go Malori." Val took Malori's hand in her own and led her around the Elf Village.

They were getting some odd looks, and Malori was sure it wasn't just because she was a human. She looked at Vel's hand holding her own, their finger's interlocked as the walked.

"Are we on a date?" Malori really wanted it to be a date. Their last one got interrupted after all. Very rudely at that.

"Yes." Vel responded quickly, her hand squeezing Malori's a bit harder.

Malori smiled shyly. She leaned on closer to Vel, her pressing against her arm. They stopped at a food stand to buy something to eat. Instead of walking they went to the park. This was looking very much like their first date. Was Vel trying to recreate it? To make up for being interrupted? Whatever the reason Malori was more than happy to appease her.

"Everyone's staring at us." Malori looked around, "You sure this is ok?"

"Of course." Vel took a bite of her meaty food, "I don't want to hide you. Anymore." Vel glanced away, her cheeks getting a light pink hue.

Malori smiled, she didn't want to hide Vel either. She wanted everyone to know she was dating the great Demon Queen. The people seemed to clear out in time, maybe due to Vel glaring at them or maybe because the weather was getting worse.

"Hey Malori?" Vel wrapped her arm around Malori's hip.

"Y-Yeah?" Malori looked around. They were alone now. She couldn't see another living soul around.

Vel placed her fingers under Malori's chin, turning the mage's face toward her. Vel's eyes darted between Malori's eyes and lips. Malori gulped. She knew what Vel wanted. Closing her eyes she leaned in, parting her lips and waiting for Vel. Just as Vel leaned in and their lips barely brushed against each other it started to rain. Hard.

"Are you fucking kidding me right now?!" Vel screamed at the sky.

Malori just chuckled. She liked knowing Vel wanted her so much, even though it was overwhelming at times and made her blush redder than her hair.

"Maybe we should go." Malori stood up to leave, but was stopped by Vel's hand on her wrist. "Wha-" Vel pulled her back into her lap and kissed her passionately. Malori gasped in surprise, which gave Vel the chance to slip her tongue in Malori's mouth. Vel's hands found their way to Malori's back, pressing her girlfriend close.

Malori's hands tangled into Vel's hair, tugging her even closer.

"Vel..." Malori spoke against Vel's lips.

"Yeah?" The word came out like a growl, sending shivers down Malori's spine.

"I'd really like to keep doing this but... I'm human. I could get a cold if I stay in wet clothes for long." Vel's eyes widened in realization. She lifted Malori bridal style and started walking in the direction of the house, summoning one of her dragon wings to protect Malori from the rain.

"I keep forgetting that you're human." Vel mumbled, "But you know..." She smirked at her her girlfriend, revealing her dragon fangs, "Since were already drenched with rain, we could take another bath together."

"Another bath..." Malori's face was so red she felt like she was gonna combust, "Yeah. I'd love to." She snuggled into Vel's warmth. She should be surprised at how warm she was but then again Vel was a dragon after all.

The whole way home the couple kept glancing bashfully at each other, Vel occasionally sneaking a kiss to fluster Malori. Even with the rain, it turned out to be a pretty great date.
