It's been a while now hasn't it? Here I am and here you go. I hope you enjoy...Oh!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE THAT CELEBRATES IT
if not, still have a wonderful, and happy day.
Edit: Needed to fix the Gundam that I slipped onto there on accident. I've been watching a lot of Gundam lately, and I guess it just happened.
The sunlight pierced the trees above them shining through the thick leaves that adorned the branches that stretched themselves from their towering base. A slight breeze ruffled them every so often, making slight movement and allowing those who rested in their habitat stay easy and filled with ease. Below the inhabitants walked three individuals, two of which shared an annoying discomfort than that of the older one.
What stood out most of all to those watching, and those walking below was the large hole sitting in the center of the ground of which if one were to take a closer look at had an indention spiraling the entirety of it. While the chirping of birds took most of the quiet out of the situation, it was quickly replaced by one of the figures exclaiming rather loudly about something that proved to be invaluable to their situation.
"There's something I need to understand here Ozpin. Qrow, I need your opinion on this one as well for once."
"That's surprising-"
"Just listen" Glynda exclaimed rather fiercely. The man held his hands up in a surrendering manner to get his point across rather jokingly.
"I'll restate this problem once more, and I'll be absolute about it this time. Two boys, of which we have very little information about, have not only woken up and destroyed the valuable equipment of which any data that we had obtained was precariously wiped away without us knowing, but they have also obtained machines that we have no idea on how they work."
Qrow spoke up after lowering his hands. "Is it really that big of a deal that they're out walking around?" He turned towards Ozpin; directing the question towards him as well. "I mean if they were that much of a problem, or even a threat, wouldn't we have already been notified of it already, right Oz?"
Much to his surprise, Ozpin was still kneeling down by the hole, his hand still tracing the drill marks that the other two started to take notice of as well that scattered not just around the hole that they supposedly came out of, but also on the trees around them and indentions on the ground. To the two of them, it looked like a battle of some sort happened here, and it was practically a one-sided slaughter.
Ozpin, now standing upturned to the others. "Glynda, did the mechs that we found with the boys appear to have any sort of weapons on them at all?"
She started to pull up her scroll, only to quickly remind herself that any data that they did have on anything having to do with the boys is now gone entirely. Sighing, she got back to replying to Ozpin's inquiry. "No, from what we gathered at the time, and from what I remember, there was no sign of weaponry on the smaller mech at all. While the larger mech appears to have used its 'sunglasses' as a cutting source weapon, though what it was used on necessarily, I'm not entirely sure."
Qrow called over to Ozpin. "I might have let it slip when we brought them back, but did either of them have a weapon of their own?"
The other two pondered for a second, signaling to Qrow that neither of them was entirely sure of it. "I say this since while there are these massive drill marks littered around here, another set of cuts are nowhere near as large, and if anything, look like that of a sword of Mistral origin. The one who was wielding it isn't that bad either." He walked over near a tree and placed his hand near an example of such a cut. "I would put in more of the field that he hasn't had any proper training, and if anything learned from getting attacked on almost a daily basis. Rather crude in my opinion."
Glynda spoke to what he was trying to elaborate towards. "Are you suggesting that these two boys might cause more harm to not just everyone, but rather everything around them?"
Qrow merely shrugged his shoulders. "Just speculation here, but those two might be so used to fighting with just the two of them, without having to worry about their surroundings; going off the massive emptiness that Vacuo is, I'd have to bet that if they were put into a setting like Vale is, more specifically Beacon in this matter, we could lose maybe half of the school if they get their hands on the other mech."
He pulled out his flask, unscrewing the top and taking a quick swig before turning to Ozpin with his free hand out. "Anything to add Oz to my spectacular depiction skills? Qrow said while smiling... "Oz?"
Ozpin however seemed to be lost in thought as his attention wasn't towards the two, but instead was just staring off in the direction of the collapsed trees and destruction. "I feel like a much larger problem might be either solved or resolved by these two." He sighed before starting to walk down the cluttered path while calling back to the two. "Come now, it'd be best to find the brothers before they hurt themselves before anyone else; society is sometimes scarier to those who have never experienced it before."
One-Hour Before
Dirt and even more dirt were something Simon was used to seeing from his countless times digging, and it never got old, even now. But what an enjoyable sight to see again was the blue sky that he was greeted with along with Kamina. What else quickly followed was an abundance of greenery around them. Finally standing on solid ground while leaving behind the gaping hole in the ground, the top hatch of Lagann opened up, releasing the two brothers from the tight fit.
The first one to stand up outside of Lagann's cockpit was Kamina, and with a quick flick of his wrist, his signature red sunglasses while looking upwards. "See Simon, I told you we'd get back to the surface," He spun around to face Simon. "Now we just need to find Gurren."
Simon stretched his arms while Kamina jumped out and onto the ground, sword in hand. "But Bro, we looked everywhere down there and we couldn't find it. Do you think it's even near here...wherever here is?" Simon pondered for a moment while lifting his head up to the sky and turning around slightly to get a better look around. He most definitely didn't know where they were at, and he was sure that his brother didn't know either. Turning back to Kamina, Simon saw that...well that he was no longer there.
A panicked look came across his face and he followed suit, his actions becoming rather sporadic. "Bro?" No response. "Bro where did you go?" Again, there was no response, instead only a shuffling of the bushes from behind him. Simon quickly spun around in Lagann to face the sudden sound. In front of him, while squinting his eyes, Simon could spot the trees and bushes shaking deep past one another...and a sound coming from them as well.
"Bro?" No response once more, but instead it was replaced with a large roar that made Simon take a step back while making him begin to sweat. In an instant, his vision was surprised with the sight of Kamina wearing a big grin with his sword in hand. He came jumping from the brush and landing on the ground before sliding next to Simon; he chuckled before speaking with intensity.
"I knew the Beastmen were here, just hiding this time around. This time it seems like they have something new, something more suited to fight without a Gunmen anyways."
Before Simon could ask what he was talking about, another large growl erupted from where Kamina jumped out of the bushes...then there wasn't a bush there any longer. Easily torn from the ground and thrown to the side, what stood there now made Simon take a step back in fear while shaking slightly. In front of them stood a beast that stood taller than both him and Kamina combined, and with it appeared to be covered in some sort of white armor with various markings. What stood out most of all was the black-colored...fur if one could call it that, and the ominous red eyes that seemed to stare into his very soul.
Kamina stepped forward and lifted his sword at it. "Bring it ya ugly fre...freak. Ya ugly...freaks" His words fell short as the single beast in front of them started to increase in number as various different types began to climb out from the darkness of the trees. Some of them appeared to walk on their hind legs while others crawled on all four. A smile crept onto Kamina's face while he reached his hand forward to click the sheath off slightly before swinging his sword off to his side, tossing the sheath off of it and onto the ground.
Simon stuttered in his words while he spoke. "B... Bro. What are these things? They don't look like-" He was cut off by Kamian raising his hand up.
"Don't you worry about a thing Simon, the only thing I have to say is that they look like a challenge? We're going to wipe the floor with them, and then find Gurren." He turned his head and smiled towards Simon, "Right?"
Simon opened his mouth but noticed that words weren't coming out. He only grinned back as he tightened his grip on the controls of Lagann. "Right!" With those words, Kamina turned his attention back and without a second passing, he ran forward and towards the beasts with Simon right behind the inside of Lagann.
30 Minutes Later
Simon gazed around the area and noticed the visible destruction that they had caused, various trees had been uprooted, there was hardly any grass covering the ground where they stood, and most of all; there weren't any bodies of the strange creatures they had just...destroyed… He looked down at the hand of Lagann and saw that he was still clenching onto one of the creatures around its body, and could see it still struggling to escape from his grasp.
"Bro, I don't think these have anything to do with the Beastmen…"
Simon heard a click of a sword going into its sheath and turned to look at his brother that was walking over to him, a few scratches covering his body, but overall was still in good shape. "Now I understand your confusion Simon, but think about this. Who else would come to attack us the moment we come up from underground?"
Before he could say anything, Kamina spoke up. "Exactly, those damned Beastmen. While they might not have any Gunmen nearby, that doesn't mean they're just gonna give up on attacking us any time soon." He walked over to the creature that was struggling in Lagann's fist before prodding at it with his sword. "These crafty bastards just didn't know when to give up, then they would just vanish the moment you cut them down...If it's not the Beastmen, then I don't know Simon."
Simon glanced over to his brother one last time before a screech seemed to sound around them. "What the-"
Before either brother could react to the sudden sound; both Simon and Lagann were lifted up into the air. "Bro!"
"I got ya Simon!"
The moment Simon began to leave the ground, Kamina jumped up and clambered into the cockpit alongside his brother. The creature that was stuck in his fist soon was release as Simon fell from the controls. They could feel themselves get carried further and further into the air the longer they were carried. Simon and Kamina both glanced over the side and started to see the ground grow in the distance as they sat still.
Simon gulped before speaking. "Hey Bro...Where do you think it's taking us?" He looked over to his brother while expecting a response, but what he saw was a man that was laying on his back while holding his stomach, only for a growl to come resounding from it.
Before Simon could even ask his brother what that noise was, the same sound came from his own stomach and he immediately realized it. They were both starving. The lights from within Lagann quickly started to diminish and the two fell deep into the cockpit and the rumbling from their stomachs carried on.
The spiky-haired brother soon spoke with much agony in his voice. "I'm so...hungry…"
The younger brother soon chimed in. "Yeah...I can't even move anymore…"
The two glanced at one another before looking at the large bird-like creature that was carrying them. They shared one more glance before stars shined in their eyes.
Kamina started to speak. "You think this dumb bird tastes like mole meat?"
Simon licked his lips slightly before speaking. "Anything is better than starving that this point."
The two quickly climbed their way up to the legs of the best and began rubbing their hands all over it, their eyes sparkling with joy while saliva drained from their mouth. Each of the brothers held onto one leg; only to share one last glance before opening their mouth and biting down on the leg. A loud screech came from the bird and while the two brothers quickly let go of the bird while wiping away at their mouth, something else was let go as well.
Kamina was the first to speak and he finished spitting out any sort of taste he had from before. "That...That was somehow worse than dirt itself."
Simon started to say something before looking up at the sky. "Bro, is it just me, or is that bird flying away from us?" Both his hair and Kamina's were flipping wildly from the sudden change of wind. A confused look appeared on both of their faces before they quickly looked over the side and widened their eyes. They opened their mouth before a helpless yell began to echo throughout the sky.
A few miles away
A young girl wearing a red cape was seen struggling to put on her boots before looking out the window, a yell softly sounding in her ears. She tilted her head to the side before glancing around the room to three other girls who appeared to be getting dressed as well.
"Did you guys hear anything?"
The three of them turned to look at one another before shaking their heads, the girl speaking up again.
"Like two people falling from the sky after getting dropped from a Nevermore after they somehow decided to hitch a ride on accident?"
The three girls once again turned to look at one another before the white-haired girl spoke up. "Ruby, have you been staying up late again reading those books about Mecha's that are from another world?"
The young girl bashfully turned away before speaking. "M...Maybe...But it's not because I totally want to build my own or anything orthatIwanttomeetaprofessionalmechapilotoranything...Hehe"
The three of them sighed before having a laugh with one another.
A few miles back
Stuck halfway in the ground was Lagann, the top hatch closed tightly. After a few knocks from the inside, Kamina was launched outward into a roll, only to slide into a faceplant on the ground. Simon flopped over the side as spirals seemed to spin in his eyes from the amount of rolling they did.
"Bro...I think I'm about to throw-up…"
"What are you gonna puke Simon, you don't even have anything in your stomach; otherwise I would have done it halfway down."
The resounding rumble of their stomachs seemed to shake the ground as they both simultaneously groaned from the pain. A waft of smell soon crossed their noses before they lifted their heads. It appeared to be the back of a small shack, and a delicious smell was coming from it. They began to salivate at the smell alone before an old-looking man slowly made his way out the back. He glanced at them before walking over to them and kneeling down in front of Kamina.
"Now what might you two boys be doing out here, getting into some sort of kerfuffle with the Grimm again?"
Kamina slowly crawled closer to the man before grabbing a hold of his shirt, a pained look across his eyes. "Please...food…" A loud rumble came from his stomach. "We'll do anything for food, please…"
The old man looked between the two before taking Kamina's hands off of his shirt and walking back into the shack. The two laid there for another minute before the old man returned carrying two bowls that stimulated their senses. He laid one down each in front of the brothers, only to see it devoured in the manner of seconds. The two brothers soon laid on their backs while rubbing their stomachs happily.
The old man stood over Kamina as he looked down at him. "Can you cook boy?"
Kamina crawled onto his hands before attempting to get to his feet, only to stop and just sit on his knees. He looked at the old man before grinning. "The Great-Kamina can do just about anything he's taught, old man." The man grinned back at Kamina before staring over at Simon.
His eyes trailed over Lagann and continued to do so for around a minute. "I have something that both of you can do, follow me."
Ten minutes later
Kamina was seen over a massive bowl as he was tossing noodles in the air, only to follow it with other various ingredients into one smaller bowl. He spun around and held it out to the old man while grinning. "Try this one on for size old man, I call it the 'Kamina Special'*; this can beat anything this world has to offer in terms of taste.
The old man grinned at the boy before taking the bowl and a pair of chopsticks. He grabbed a bundle of noodles and slowly slurped them up before swallowing them completely. He turned away from Kamina before speaking softly. "You passed…"
"What was that old man?" Kamina asked while he heard the small sound of sniffling. The old man waved his hand towards Kamina and just shook his head.
"It's good...I can pass my life's work onto you."
Kamina stared at the old man in a curious manner before chuckling. "No thanks old man, I still gotta get my little bro home. I'll be here for a little bit longer though, so no need to go easy on me; work me to the bone." He said while pointing his thumb towards his chest triumphantly.
The old man ignored Kamina's words and glanced out the back door to see how the younger, and much more reserved brother was doing. When he first saw the machine the boy was in, his first thought was that it was a much more sophisticated moving machine, and thus, decided to use it as such. Boxes upon boxes, moving any and all sorts of supplies to help everyone finish setting up for the festival. It put what should have been five hours of work, into less than a single hour.
The old man chuckled to himself before heading back inside. If there was anything left to teach the older brother, it was to keep his voice down.
Walking around the FairGrounds
"Maybe if I can just look around really fast, I can find that beauty and take a quick pic- AGH." Ruby was quickly yanked from her collar back to the side of Weiss after she attempted to sneak away to the worst of her ability.
"If you wander off Ruby, you're going to get lost just like how you lost your wallet," Weiss exclaimed as she looked at her teammate who was sheepishly rubbing the back of her head.
"It's not like I'm in a pocket Weiss, if anything I would easily find my way back to you guys." She said in a whining tone.
"And if you lost your wallet again?" Blake casually mentioned.
"I'd, Um, maybe, if by some chance...I'd have Weiss pay for my meal?" She stared at Weiss with her best puppy eyes she could muster, only to see that Weiss was doing her best to avoid them. Ruby's expression drooped before Yang spoke up.
"Here we are, a place like no other, and a personal favorite as well," Yang said as she and the rest of her team took a seat on the stools. "I'll have a bowl of the regular, please." A large bowl of noodles slid in front of her.
Ruby started to salivate while looking at Yang's bowl. "Oohhh...I'll take the same." The same looking large bowl slid in front of her as she rubbed her hands together.
Weiss stared at the two bowls that were already out in grimace and cautiously spoke. "Do you have anything with low-salt…?" The old man pondered for a second before knocking on the wood next to him, only to hear a young voice come from the back. "Healthy? You can only be healthy when you're full!" Only for a large bowl of noodles like the two before were slid before her. "Okay…"
Blake merely nodded at the old man, for hers was special, and she knew what she wanted. He quickly went under the curtains and a quiet voice was heard, only to Blake's ears.
"Fish? What the hell is a fish?"
She stiffened up for a second before seeing a bowl get quickly delivered in front of her. A large bowl of noodles with fish topped upon it. Stars sparkled in her eyes as she looked at the bowl.
They saw the old man walk into the back and heard the conversation between the two. "Go ahead and put their meals on me old man, I'm making plenty of this 'Lien' today, so make it my treat."
The old man could be heard laughing a little before speaking. "Go ahead and take off after this with your brother, you've earned some time off to enjoy the festival."
A clattering of pans could be heard as the worker finished cleaning up. "You won't regret it old man!" and a blurry figure could be seen leaving.
Weiss could be seen getting ready to give up her card while team JNPR was walking up. "Mind if we join you?" The blonde leader questioned?
"Only if this meal and theirs is still on the cook?" Yang glanced towards the old man who just shrugged at her suggestion. "Then, by all means, go ahead."
(A few minutes later)
Everyone was seen slumped over and relaxing with their hands on their stomach. "I think I'm ready to die…" Jaune spoke while groaning.
Yang struggled to get off the stool before giving up for the fourth time. "This is an illegal shop-keep. Why did you go and give me something out of this world when I asked for the regular?"
The old man shrugged his shoulders before walking into the back and right back out again.
Blake finished wiping her mouth with a cloth before speaking up, a gentle smile on her face. "Who made this dish since you were out here? It seems like this is a single man store?"
He gestured towards the fairgrounds. "Just let them off for the day."
"Can I at least get their name? So I can thank them if I see them of course."
Yang bumped shoulders with the girls with a large smirk on her face. "The best way to win a girl's heart is through her stomach. Especially when it comes to fish-." Blake quickly pushed her friend off of her to hear the response.
The old man held his hand to his chin before shrugging. "Never caught his name, only his younger brother; Simon. It's not hard to miss 'em. The older one is shirtless and carries around a large sword, while the younger one is in a machine. They each have distinguishable blue hair as well."
Ruby perked her head up the moment she heard the word 'machine', but turned her head towards their sister team, JNPR. "Don't you guys have a match in a little bit?"
The fire-haired girl, Pyrrha quickly spoke up. "It'll be fine, we have nothing to worry about-" She was cut off by a familiar voice sounding over the intercom.
"Announcement to Team JNPR of Beacon, and Team BRNZ of Shade, the match has been postponed due to an error with the arena. As if you weren't already late, it's now okay to be even later."
The teams shared glances at one another before standing up and dusting themselves off. "Well then, I guess we got time to burn off the calories then." A hearty belch was quickly followed by Nora.
"Care to join us around the festival?" Jaune asked team RWBY.
Ruby quickly stepped forward. "Of course! I still gotta find that beauty that was walking around earlier."
The rest of them watched as Ruby quickly made her way around, glancing in every direction as if she was a bloodhound searching for a clue. Jaune leaned over to Yang with a questionable glance.
"What is she looking for, said 'beauty' of course?"
Weiss spoke up. "She's looking for a robot she saw earlier, and now that we have time, she has made it her goal to find it."
Ruby quickly dashed in front of Weiss with a finger pointed towards her. "It's not just any robot my frosty colored partner, it's a Mech, A MECH! Not just any kind of mech, but a smaller, more personalized one from the look of it."
Weiss rolled her eyes. "Right…"
Ruby did a 180⁰ and began scouring the fairgrounds once more before her eyes locked on a familiar color and shape. "There it is!" In a flash, she was out of sight of her team, leaving them in the rose petal trail to follow.
In mere seconds she was in front of the Mecha and its pilot, who in turn had his hands up in fear and the Mecha seemed to match him perfectly. Stars shone in Ruby's silver eyes, and words began to flow out of her mouth at a speed many would find difficult to understand.
"How do you get it to replicate your own movement without having your hands on the steering handles? Is each finger opposable so you can hold all sorts of things, or is it more restricted like other Atlas models? How much fuel do you go through in a day? How much maintenance does it take at the end of the night? I don't see any exhaust vents, is it a closed electric steam system? How do you cool the generator? Does it have its own reliable source of power? Is it hydraulic or pneumatic? Is it an open cockpit or does it close when you're in a battle? Do you fight Grimm with this? How strong is the outer plating? Can it take a hit from Goliath? How much can it lift, is it able to carry other mechs? Where did you get this from? How much did it cost? Did you build it yourself? I build my own weapon myself!"
The boy in the mech started to hesitate a bit before blurting out how he got it. "I found it while-"
A hand was placed on the younger boy's shoulder as a larger boy came around. He was shirtless and was slightly tanned with tattoos going down his arms and around his body. He easily towered over Ruby. "He earned this through a battle of determination and wills little girl." The younger boy turned to the larger one and whispered something that she couldn't quite hear, but her attention was mostly on the larger of the two. She was surprised by his sudden appearance, and even more by his answer. She began to shrink away while silently mouthing out an excuse as to why she had to leave, only to be stopped when she backed into someone's familiar chest.
"I don't know who you think you are scaring my sister like that, but you better watch it bub." Yang pushed a finger into the larger boy's chest, in an attempt to push him slightly, but he appeared unperturbed.
The boy returned the gesture and shoved a finger into her chest, making her step back slightly. "You should teach your sister about personal space 'surface chick', I swear. It's always the same, you come up to the surface, and they're all crazy, be it in attitude or the clothing they wear, I swear it's almost always the same."
The younger of the two patted on him before speaking loud enough that those in front could hear. "But Yoko wasn't from the surface Bro...I think these are the first people from the surface we've met…"
Ruby pulled Yang to the side slightly and whispered to her as well. "It's really not that bad Yang, I did get a little close without asking, and probably made him uncomfortable."
The older of the pairs quickly broke off of their younger counterparts and butted heads before sparks went off between them.
Yang started to shout. "No one picks on my little sister and gets away with it, I'm gonna break this tattooed, perfectly built, spiky-haired fools legs!" A small whoop came from behind.
The older brother stepped forward while puffing out his chest. "This is a battle of a man's pride Simon, and this brainless blonde just insulted ours! She's gonna regret messing with me!"
Weiss quickly pushed the two apart from the best she could before both of them turned their attention onto her.
"Don't butt in Snow Cone!"
"Don't interfere, Weiss Cream!"
Weiss blinked in surprise before muttering to herself. 'They both have absolutely terrible names that relate to a cold treat, they're basically the same at this point.' She sighed before turning to the older brother of the two.
"I take it that you were the gentlem...you are the cook at the noodle stand earlier?"
The man straightened his back before shooting a glare at Yang. "Yeah, that was me, the great Kamina." He let the sword rest at his waist again. "What's it to ya?"
Weiss sighed again before pointing towards the younger brother. "I take it that he is indeed your brother, the one that is hiding behind you?"
The now named older brother, Kamina, nodded his head in agreement.
Weiss let out what she hoped to be her final sigh before turning back to everyone else and holding out her arms to the two brothers. "These two, more specifically the older brother here, was the one that treated us to the wonderful meal earlier, the ones that were 'Out of this world' if I remember correctly?
Yang could be seen crossing her arms and mumbling to herself. 'They weren't even that good…'
The teams started to look at one another and smile as they were surprised that the rather arrogant brother seemed to be the excellent chef from earlier.
Blake could see the two whispering to one another, and leaned in a bit closer, her ears picking up their quiet words.
"Hey Bro, don't you think they're somewhat different?"
"How so Simon. Is it the hair, or is it the way they dress? Cause personally, the blonde has some style issues."
The younger brother, Simon, is what Blake picked up, saw him give a blank stare towards his brother. "No? Don't you think it's strangely peaceful, and that if anything, there isn't any fear of a Beastmen attack?"
Blake lifted her head up and spoke exactly what she was thinking. "Beastmen?"
Both of the brothers flinched at her words before looking around, the younger brother stepping out of his mecha and speaking up; the best he could at least for someone of his stature. "How is everything so peaceful around here? There haven't been any Beastmen attacks, let alone tremors since we got here? There's quite a lot of activity on the surface, which is a prime target for the Beastmen."
Blake swallowed her fears and spoke up. "What exactly do you mean by Beastmen, Simon?" She could see those around them slightly tense up and show a disapproving look on their face. While she has met plenty of people that discriminate against Faunus, she would hate to meet someone who was so openly opinionated about such things.
Kamina was the one to speak up instead of Simon. "You see Beastmen are exactly that. They're beasts, at least that's what Leon told us. They normally look like animals from long ago; covered in fur or have shells, even wings at times, and they used to attack us almost daily."
Ren was the next one to speak up, as Kamina's words piqued his curiosity. "Are you trying to describe a Faunus?"
Kamina looked at Ren with a very confused look. "What the hell is a Faunus?"
Yang was the one to act on his question. She quickly looked around and grabbed hold of the nearest Faunus she could find. Thankfully it was someone who would gladly come with her and looked to be a rather friendly individual as well. She brought them in front of Kamina. "This here-" She gestured to the floppy dog ears atop the person's head. "This is a Faunus."
Kamina crossed his arms and shook his head. "That's not right. That's not a Beastmen at all. Sorry, bub for her grabbing you." Yang bowed her head and allowed the Faunus to go on their way. "You see, that looked more like an attachment of sorts, or even accessory, at least according to Leon. He said that this kind of thing happened from time to time at birth."
Simon was the one to speak up about the outlier. "If anything, that person looked more like Viral."
This got a confused look from everyone, even Kamina, who looked at Simon. "Who's who?" Simon stared blankly at his brother before turning back to the others.*
Blake spoke up on this since all of this was catching her attention when it came to Faunus; that and it seemed everyone was curious when it came to these two. "Where exactly are you two from? Mistral, Atlas, clearly not Vale?"
Kamina spoke up. "We came from somewhere far behind us, if anything, we've been traveling to fight the leader of the Beastmen ever since we left home. We figured that if we beat the man up top-" Kamina did a little twirl with his fingers to simulate him climbing stairs before punching his open hand with a fist. "We can stop the rest of them from attacking the other humans, and let us live freely."
Everyone had a surprised look on their face, and plenty of questions littered their minds the more they thought on his words alone. Blake then asked a question to confirm her thoughts. "You two don't hate Faunus, do you?" She could feel the eyes of those around her, the same feelings running through their heads.
Kamina sighed before running a hand through his hair. "You keep on going on and on about Faunus this and Faunus that. I don't even know who the hell you're talking about at this point. I mean hell, we've only fought Beastmen before. I don't really care who you are in the end, but if you get in the way of me and Simon's dream, then you can bet your ass that you're gonna get pummeled into the ground."
All of them sighed after he said those words, and in a way relieved them of any worry of discrimination.
"Where are you two trying to go then, after beating the evil leader of the Beastmen of course?" Ruby asked with much curiosity since it was clear that the two in front of her were not talking about Faunus in any way.
"Hmph!" Kamina crossed his arms before flicking his red-colored sunglasses. He shot a hand up into the sky, his hand opening up only to close into a fist before allowing a single finger to point upwards. "All the lights that exist above us are stars, and among those stars is a place where we belong! Those that stand in our way better be ready to be knocked back down; that is the fate of those who try to stop the climb of Dai-Gurren!" A flash of sparkling stars seemed to shine above Kamina, even in broad daylight.
Simon looked away from his brother before speaking up. "My Bro and I came from Jiha village, it was a settlement that is underground. We lived there our whole lives till recently...We only left not that long ago and we met a bunch of others from underground villages as well. From them, we realized that any tremors that would happen were caused by those Beastmen, and...those tremors would collapse the tunnels we dug…"
Simon went quiet for a few seconds before continuing. "We...We created a team to fight-back against the Beastmen; so we didn't have to be forced to live underground anymore, in fear of those above.
A few of the group showed various reactions to hearing that they were forced to live underground and that there was no form of resistance till they left… Weiss was pondering on those words before she spoke up.
"How old are you two?"
The two brothers looked at one another before counting on their fingers.
"I'm only fourteen."
"From what Leon said, I'm eighteen."
Everyone showed a surprised look on their face before Weiss continued. "So you've been underground your whole life?" The two nodded. "And I take it that neither of you doesn't have any form of education and thus can't think about where you two came from beside your village?"
"Oh come on Weiss Cream, no need to go and be so rude about it. It wasn't their fault-" Ruby started to say towards Weiss before Kamina softly pushed her out of the way before leaning down to Weiss's height.
"Those are some big words comin from someone who probably doesn't even know how to pilot a Gunmen let alone fight against some Beastmen." Simon was pulling on his arm.
"Bro, we hardly even know them, we don't know what they deal with."
Weiss smirked before pushing Kamina back some. "You should learn to listen to your Brother, you meathead. We are Hunters-"
Ruby perked up to add in something. "In-training!"
Weiss sighed. "Hunters that fight against the Grimm that roam across the world, not these so-called 'Beastmen' you've fought against. From what you've said, they're a group that could force humanity underground; if that was the case we would have most definitely encountered them at some point. "
Kamina was staring at Weiss with a confused look.
"What is it?"
"What is a 'Grimm'?"
Everyone almost tripped on his words. They all struggled to get back up while Blake asked him a question with a stupified look. "You didn't even encounter any subterranean Grimm?"
"I asked what Grimm are, not what kind of Grimm there are." He closed his hands and bowed them slightly with each word. ".Grimm?"
Ren was the one to speak up, "Creatures of darkness, normally are covered in white plating?" Nora interjected. "They normally float away into dust after ya smash them into nothing, but kinda don't have bones but also have bones. You can break them easily." She smiled while Kamina dropped a fist into his open hand while a metaphorical exclamation point appeared above his head.
"So they weren't created by the Beastmen. No wonder they seemed rather easy to beat, a few slices from the Great-Kamina and a punch from Simon-The-Digger blasted them to dust as if they were nothing. We might as well be Hunters at this point as well if all it means is beating those things."
"You encountered Grimm?" Ruby asked brightly.
"Sure we did. Turned so many of them into dust after we saw the light, got picked up by a giant bird, fell; then we started working for the old noodle man."
Blake shot Kamina a confused stare. "So you've never cooked noodles before today?"
Kamina gave a hearty chuckle. "I only knew how to grill mole-pigs before, but this Great-and-Mighty-Kamina is a genius with anything he does." He crossed his arms while his nose grew from the stares of amazement from around him.
Jaune swallowed nervously before speaking up. "So if you don't fight Grimm, and fight these 'Beastmen', how good are you at fighting, and why are you here?"
Kamina sighed before running his hand through his hair. "Is it a normal thing for blondes to not listen? I'm pretty sure I made it clear that we don't know. We came from underground for a second time, and here we are. If anything I'd like to get back so we can knock down the boss; my sword is itching to knock a few Beastmen down a size or two."
"Could you ever think of becoming friends with the 'Beastmen'?" Pyrrha asked in a more reserved tone, thinking it was still a rather sensitive topic since they fight them almost daily.
"A bad mole-pig doesn't ruin the whole herd, little girl."
Everyone looked at him with a confused look before Ren spoke up. "You mean 'One apple doesn't ruin the whole batch'?"
Kamina shot a glare towards Ren under his sunglasses. "I mean what I say, and I say what I mean." Everyone sighed at his response while Simon looked at everyone in a confusing way.
"What was the voice talking about earlier about the 'arena'? What do you do there?"
Ruby was the one to dash in front of Simon and jump up to hold his hands instead of Lagann's. "It's where Hunters come from all the schools and compete to be the best. You get to see all sorts of people, semblances, and even their weapons! Oh!." She hopped down and held out her arms to Team JNPR. "This is the famous Team JNPR, they are up next. You should come and watch them with us!"
Simon was slightly tense from the energy, Ruby just had and looked to Kamina who was smiling, and nodded his head towards Simon. "Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. Do you think I can bring Lagann in with me?"
They all looked around before Kamina pointed towards the Gunmen. "He's talking about his own Gunmen, Lagann."
Ruby's eyes sparkled for a second at the name before she held back her excitement. "Don't you need to charge it though? It seems that you've been using it almost all day now."
The two brothers looked at one another. Before shaking their heads. "Nope. It's still ok, Leon says it's powered by a special kind of power, so we don't have to worry about it shutting off any time soon."
Ruby's sparkling eyes returned before she gestured from her eyes to Simon. "We talk after this, ok? I wanna hear all about 'Lagann'." Simon gulped before nodding his head in agreement.
They all started to walk towards the arena together before Weiss placed a hand on Yang's shoulder. "It must be terrible that he can cook better than any of us, and even your hair that you put so much effort into didn't even stand out to him."
Yang grumbled before mumbling under her breath. "I said it wasn't even that good though…"
I'd like to thank everyone that is still here after all this time, it has been a while, but I promise you that...I won't ever have a consistent schedule; sorry. In all honesty, it's not that I hate writing, I just get overwhelmed with school or work, then when I finally get free time, I end up drifting off into watching anime or playing games, games that eat up alot of time like FF14 or League.
I love all of my readers, I do, and I hope all of you are staying safe and or healthy during these times. In the end, while not super long, I hope my writing gives you something to do.
Goodnight everyone, and have a wonderful eveing...or morning.
