Greetings everyone. So, this is my way to have some closure after season 1. This is a further look onEkko and Jinx relationship. It will be messy and confusing, borderline chaotic yet meaningull (I hope). It's set some time after the finale, maybe one year or so but I didn't care too much on the context. It's a single and only chapter, but if it get's enough love I might do an epilogue.

Sunset was setting in. The sun slowly retired from the sky painting the clouds orange on its way out.

"You seem troubled my boy" Said the small and wise creature

"In case you didn't notice troubles are the only thing there is lately" Replied the young man as he tighten a screw with a big wrench

"Unfortunately that never ceases to be truth. But I'm not speaking about this city, I am refering to you as a single individual" Clarified the Yordle

"Ain't nothing" Replied the youngster with indiference, focusing on his task

"Nothing is often quite something" Replied calmly the older " I might be presuntuous, but given the recent events I have already arrived to a conclusion. I merely trying to point out the subject "

"Not much of a question then" Replied drily the younger withou giving him a glance

"My boy, this sort of matter can be a source of restless concern if left alone. I think I can be of some assistance"

"How exactly?" Exclaimed Ekko, now annoyed "What do you know? For real"

The Yordle just shooked his head simpathethically "Dear Ekko, you may have already guessed, but I am a bit older than you "Said with humour "In my considerable lifespan I have seen my fair share of grief, more than could be possibly put into words. War, death, suffering, love, tragedy... everything tends to repeat itself, unfortunatley" Said evoking a vast amomunt of memories

"What exactly do you wanna know then? " He asked impatiently

"Oh, that is easy yet not simple at all: How are you?" Replied the little scientist "For real" Exclaimed jokingly doing his own impression of the boy

"Doesn't matter. I gotta end this, once and for all"

"That's not what I asked "

"It's the only thing that matters" He stated

"Oh, young ones. Always thinking the weight of the world rests solely on their shoulders" Exclaimed with dismayment

"There's nothing else to it"

"You are a very bright man Ekko, so I will not accept you can be that dense. If I may quote yourself" He clarified his throat "That's bullshit" Said the Yordle, trying to impersonate the boy" But you already know that"

"I'm doin what needs to be done. There's no way around it. I gotta end her" The boy stop the cranking, suddenly feeling numb under the wieght of his own words "

"There might be other solutions. All problems has more than just one"

"Not this one "

"Did you considerate what that can do to you? My boy, killing it's not something that you can get away with unscathed"

"This ain't about me. It's about everyone, it's about Zaun. Even about your precious Piltover"

"But this is about you, at least that is what I am concerned about" Heimer expresed with heaviness in his heart "Science, as you may already know, it's a delicated matter" The Yordle walked to the edge of the terrace pensatively, as he contemplated the sky "It is a neverending enterprice that can be solved in so many different ways, yet it always remains bounded to certain principles. The matters of the heart, I'm afraid, are a whole different species. Sentiments can be one and another, bounded together yet entirely different and even absolute opossites. Love, friendship, hate, duty, everything collides together "

"Ain't got nothing to do with this. I'm no kid, she's not Powder. Hasn't been for a long time. Believe me, after everything she did I won't have regrets" He said harshly, yet he had to silence an inner voice that seemed to differ.

"If it only were so simple my boy" Heimerddinger denied "I'm affraid it is not up to you to decide that. You can not racionalize this Ekko"

"She's a monster" He exclaimed

"Oh dear boy. Even monsters can be loved"

Night sky, the firelights bathed both under their warm light.

"So... no clues?" Asked the woman with suspicion

"No really, just dead ends"

"Yeah. That's what you keep telling me, yet you have that look"

"What look?"

"The Imma bout to do something stupid look" Remarked the woman

"Nah, just my regular Vi's a pain in my ass look" Replied the boy

"You're pushin it little man" Warned the woman, yet her tone was anything but threatening "You wouldn't lie to me, right?"

"Can't say I never have"

"I'm being serious here Ekko. If you have the slightest clue where Jinx is" The name almost got stuck in her throat "You're tellin me now"

" Whatcha gonna do if you find her? " Asked defiantly the boy

"I'm locking her away" She answered, yet her tone was an insecure one

"You know that's impossible Vi" Emphasized Ekko, as he knew the woman herself understood that "If you catch her ya know it can only end in one way, they never gonna let her live. That or you let her escape and she keeps doin what she does and everyone suffers"

"There might be a way" She said, but not even herself believed it at that point "Fuck" The girl cursed frustrated, as a deep pain opressed her chest

"There's no way around it Vi. I told you before, Powder's gone"

"Yet you let couldn't finish her on the bridge" Exclaimed the woman heatedly "Sorry" She quickly regretted

"You're right. I hesitated, and here we are at the brink of another war, bout to loose everything we worked for"

"You said there was no point dweling on the past" Said the bitter woman, half jokingly

"Easier said than done" Retrieved the boy, chuckling lightly

"Ain't that right" A heavy silence placed between them "What are you saying here exactly Ekko?"

"A long as she lives, Zaun is doomed, we all are"

"She's my sister" She said, more to herself than anyone "She's my fucking sister" She exclaimed crushing her fist against the wall cracking it

"I know"

"Just... please. If you get a lead, let me know"

"Will do" Ekko wondered if she really meant it or was just playing along. He prefered not to find out.

Darkness, and the pale dim moonlight sneaking trough the cracks. The vapors refracted the glow in silver flashes. Dust and rubbish everywhere.

"You reached out for Jinx. She's not available at the moment but please don't leave a message and get out inmediately. Oh and make sure to step into one of the chompers on your way out" A twisted voice echoed throug the decaying walls

"No worries, I wasn't planning on sticking around for long anyways"

"Now that's rude. Specially since I'm being such a nice host" Replied the echoing voice "But now that I think of it, I don't remember askin you here"

"I let myself in" Answered drily the boy

A sigh was heard "I have to fix that door. Well, maybe getting one would be a better idea" The girl showed herself, coming out of the shadows. Purple bright eyes and dark bags under them

"Nah, I think it's better like this. It suits you" Said the young man with stony eyes

She laughed loudly "That wasn't funny. But that thing there looks like it is. I've been hearing you have this really cool new toy" She revealed, looking interseted at the machinery the boy was carriyng

"Something of my own making" The young man replied in a neutral tone as his hand rested on his Z-Drive

"Well well, looks we both got a tasty bit from Piltover's cake" She replied with amusement "So, what is this exactly? The final showdown for the future, our pre-destined battle?"

"You could say that"

"Told you" She said to apparently no one "Actually you said it. Isn't this a little bit overdramatic?" She chuckled again

"It is what it is" Ekko replied, his face a mask made of stone

"Well, this time he seems more commited, I'll give him that. You are here to do it right?" Now she directed at him "To kill poor old me " She asked with a wicked smile "Figures" She huffed

"There's no way around it" He confesed, this time his mask softened a little

"Yeah, you're right on that" She replied, her features eased as well "Funny, isn't it? From less than rats we climbed to the top of the food chain"

" Only you became a predator "

" The apex, no less " She retorted with a smirk, her purple eyes glowing "But you became the shiny hero you always looked up to. Funny, I tought Vi would be the one"

"I decided to spare her of that"

"Always the gentlemen"

"Like I said, there's no way around it. This can only end in one way. Vi knows, but she can't accept it"

"She knew you'll come to me?" She asked intrigued

"I don't know. Maybe she knew it, deep down" He reflected "She can't bring you in but maybe she finally realised she can't save you either" He said with an inner heavyness

"What a breaktrough. Kudos for you, sister" She exclaimed clapping "But you're not so fond on the saving part, right?"

"We're way past that point" He replied with an angered glaze

Jinx chuclked amused "I raised the bar too high huh?"

"There's no going back now" He stated

"What does that mean exactly?" She asked "Were where we before? Holding hands and hugging each other? Livin fancy happy lives?" She added in sarcasm "What did exactly changed now?"

Ekko took a step forward in anger "You crossed the line Jinx; all of Zaun is taking the hit for what you did. Fuck, even Silco knew where to draw the line" He exclaimed exaspereted

Jinks rolled her eyes annoyed "The line? We are the fucking line Ekko, our very existence is the line. You really believe in something so stupid as peace? It was never an option; can't you see that?" She asked with eagerness on her voice

"I see you're interested in nothin but destruction"

That seemed to hit a fibre on her for some reason "I'm the only one that realize it. You, Vi, all those dumb little pilties, all of you tryin with all your strenghts to keep this twisted building together, even as it sinks and the walls crumble away, dripin blood troug every crack" She looked at him, eyes blazing with fury "And I'm the crazy one" She spat with contempt "You're just desperate to hold on to your own fantasy"

"I'm tryin to save my home" Ekko stated with conviction

"Don't you see? This is how things are supossed to be, it's our true nature" She took a step forward "I'm not the one living in a fantasy here. That's what I did, I showed everyone the truth" She exclaimed happily "Crumbling a few walls on the process" She added with a chuckle

"No, you doomed any chance for freedom. That's what you really did. Because you don't really care for anything, and that's why we are different" Retorted Ekko,

"Freedom? Come on man, you are an idealist but you aren't that stupid. We were meant to come to this point eventually. What?" She turned her attention to the air for a moment, talking to an invisible someone "No, of course I'm right. I am!" She shouted while Ekko just observed her with dismayment "I just speeded things up dude! How long you think it would have passed till they started to realize they got fat over our hunger" She said to Ekko "How long uh? City of progress can't make real progress without gettin dirty. That rocket didn't change a thing, only showed them what we already know"

"You never striked me as the ideological type" Ekko replied with hostility "I'm not interested in making big statements or proving a point, I want Zaun to move forward and rise from the dirt. I want a chance for all of us, but you took it away"

"And you think delivering my cold body to Piltover's poster boy will actually make a difference?" She asked amused

"Might be worth the shot" He said drily

"Your precious chance" She laughed "Always knew you had a thing for me" She grined deviantly

Ekko chuckled, midly amused yet bitter "Yeah, until you started talking to your guns"

Jinx laughed " Oh don't be jealous, you can still make it" She joked "Oh, you have that look" She noticed annoyed "That look again" She sighed annoyed "Everytime" She complained

"What are you talking about?" He asked confused

"Oh how I hate you Jinx, I wish you were Powder. She was so much nicer than you" She mocked in a highly pitched tone "You and Vi"

Ekko felt something he was very used to, and something he was fighting so hard to repress for a while now: guilt "Maybe you're right. I hated you, you know? I hated that you took over Powder, I hated that she was lost forever. And I hated myself" He confessed "I told Vi that wondering what she could do different was just a useless way to torture herself" He recalled "But I was so full of shit " He said chuckling with bitternes "Truth is, I've spent a life with regret, contemplating all the other possible scenarios. What if I never told Vi about Kiraman's lab? That's when things started to crumble away. What if I went for you that night and stopped you from going after Vi? Probably we won't be here now"

"But we are" She said deadpanned "Everything that happened happened. We just are what we are"

"Yeah... I've just been dumb this whole time. We're not our memories; you're not Powder just as I'm not Little Man. We never were just that"

"Yet here you are" She said in a still voice, eyes blazing brighter than ever "Why?" She demanded "Shut up, I wanna hear it from him" She exclaimed to the silent voice, not taking her eyes away from the boy in front of her

"I've already said it" He retorted with an annoyed look

"Yeah, you're here to kill Jinx, I got that up. But still, why you?"

"You're not makin any sense here" Ekko replied defensively

"You never were a good liar and you still suck at it; you know? Your eyes give too much away, and I can hear them"

"Oh yeah? What are they saying?" He challenged her

She turned her head with around with frustration "No, he does! I can see it! He wouldn't do that" She said nervously as her eyes started to dance around

"Stop"

"He's not a liar, he does! I know" Her face started to contort in pain

"Jinx stop!" Ekko shouted, shocked

"Stop, stop, shut up!" She hited her head repeatedly "Look out!" She pulled out her gun instinctively and pointed at him. Her breath faltered yet her hand stood still "Don't move"

Ekko stood still as frustration consumed him. He'd been a fool. He wasted his time, exposing himself and got caught with his guard low. He should've done already what he came to do from the moment he set foot in. Yet... here he was, looking straight at her, feeling more than just hate or anger. Her face, contorted in pain and fear was something he wasn't prepared to face.

"This was your plan all along right?" She laughed darkly "Throw me off balance then take my head. Such a clever little man" She said with a twisted smile

There he finally understood it. There was no point in cotinuing fooling himself. For a long time he fighted against it, but right he knew he had to speak the truth he fighted to repress to get trough her "You were right" He accepted

"Yeah no shit. What are we exactly talkin here?" She asked confusedly

"Why I'm here"

"Shut up" She exclaimed "You think I'll fall for it? Stop trying to trick us"

"Tell them to fuck off. I'm speaking with you" Said Ekko "It's only you and me here"

"You couldn't just come straight and try to kill me did you?" She laughed with malice "You had to play the hero and try to rescue me like some sort of stray dog" Her voice started to crack

"This wasn't the plan" He confessed frustrated

"Yeah yeah right" She said annoyed rolling her eyes "It's too late... how late exactly?" Her voice contorted with what seemed a plea

He chuckled bitterly, this time his eyes reflected an overdue regret "Too late for anything. Like you said, we're here now. Everything that has happened, happened. There's no escape from ourselves at this point"

She watched him intently "But you still..." Her eyes opened and Ekko could swear blue made its way into the glowing purple for a brief moment

He was done lying himself "Yeah"

"Even though I'm... different? " She looked at him eagerly

He chuckled "Even though we're different"

She laughed, though this time her voice was weak it felt honest than ever "Maybe... in a less fuck up reality, Powder and Little Man could make it"

"Yeah, I hope they do. For real" He said returning the feeling

"But not here"

Ekko took a moment, he had to say it now or he wouldn't be able to do it. There was no going back "No" His voice almost didn't make it out.

Jinx smiled, this time there wasn't any malice or cinism behind it. Just a bittersweet smile "Always the savior"

It went down in a flash.

I'm not an native english speaker so there's probably all sorts of mistakes. Yet, if you enjoyed it give it some feedback and I might do an aftermath haha.
