May woke up to the sound of her alarm ringing. She groaned and pushed the snooze button. "Another annoying Friday." she thought. She hated school and thought of how she could stay home. She could pretend that she was sick- no, she did that last week. She could faint and fall over- nope, that didn't work last time. Or she could just stay in bed and hope that her dad didn't wake her up and forgot about her and she could pretend that she slept in- " May time to wake up!" called her dad. Groaning, she got up and got dressed, then went downstairs grumpily. She grabbed one of her dad's homemade muffins and went out the door. The school bus stopped right across the street, so she walked across and the bus pulled up. She got on and then she went to the back. She sat alone like always.

When she got to school, she hung up her coat and took her books to her seat. The day dragged on slowly like it always did on Friday.

When it was lunch time she sat by herself and ate her homemade lunch that her dad packed her. He packed her a lunch of tuna noodles, and a piece of chocolate. She liked it when her dad made lunch. She listened to what the other kids were saying. Who was dating who, too much homework, coronavirus, and the "new weird kid". Yeh right. "I've been here since September! And now it's March! That's not new is it?" May thought to herself. Or was there an actual new kid? Nope, they said my name.

She knew the reasons why they thought that she was weird. She listed off all the stuff that she'd heard, either from someone telling her or from overhearing. Weird clothes (overalls and no makeup is weird? Since when?), too quiet, brings a home lunch, nerd… But mainly it's because I'm bad at sports. Basketball? Nope. Soccer? Nope. Baseball? Nope. Dodgeball? Nope. Even running? Not even that. So, after the most popular girl in her class Melissa picked her for her team on volleyball and she missed every ball and got in everyone's way, everyone picked her last. And stopped hanging out with her. They didn't want someone being their friend if they were pretty much useless, so they stopped hanging out with her, and only talked to her if the teacher told them to.

After lunch they had one more hour of class. Computer science. May went into the small room filled with desks. They each had their own laptop, but hardly ever used them. It was mostly worksheets. They had so far used their laptops six times in that class, which is weird since it's called "computer science". May got out a piece of paper and started doodling.

"I have an announcement" said Mr. Denix. May didn't look up from her paper. "As everyone knows the coronavirus is spreading over the world, and so." said Mr. Denix dramatically. "There will be no school for the rest of the school year!"

"Yesyesyesyes!" thought May excitedly as the class started cheering. No school! Stay at home all day and just relax and lay around in bed and wear pajamas all day-

"So you will be doing school on your computers." finished Mr. Denix. The whole class groaned. May turned back to her doodle uninterested, again.

He handed out the computers and showed them all how to work the website they were using for school work. Then the bell rang and he let them out.
