She woke up at the hospital. She was in a bed, but the only thing that hurt was her head. She looked around. Her dad was in another bed next to her! She tried to look at him, but he just looked like he was sleeping.

What a minute… weren't they supposed to have gone backpacking? And what happend? As May desperately tried to search her mind for answers, the doctor came in.

"Oh, you're awake. Look, I have some bad news." said the doctor heavily. "Your dad was driving around a curve, and he didn't see that there was a deer crossing the street. He was badly injured, but luckily you are okay."

"Wait… how badly injured?" asked May.

"Um… well…" said the doctor awkwardly.

"Is he dead?" asked May feeling panicky. This was not happening! This wasn't real!

"He is about to die. I'll… uh… let you say goodbye." said the doctor, then he practically ran out of the room.

May walked over to her dad. He opened his eyes. "Hi, May." His voice sounded so weak.

May just started crying. This was too much.

"Don't cry. It will be okay."

May just looked at him. She didn't know what to say. "... I'll miss you. Don't go" she said.

"I'll be fine. I'll see your mom again and I'll always be with you wherever you go.I'm proud of you." said her dad. "Goodbye."

"Wait don't leave me." sobbed May.

"Goodbye…" he fell back onto his pillow.

It was the day after the funeral. May had cried a lot. There were only 20 people there, dad's friends and family. They had lunch in the living room. While that was going on she went into the kitchen and ate all the rest of her dad's brownies and ice cream by herself. The taste of the brownies calmed her down. Somewhat. She was eating the very last one when someone came in.

"May?" asked someone. The someone came over and stood over her, just looking at her.

"Yes?" asked May, wiping the crumbs off her mouth.

"Um… well you know that you have no relatives right?" said the woman.

May shrugged. She had never really thought about it before.

Well, you have no grandparents, aunts or uncles. Not even distant cousins. That means that you have to go to a foster home until you get adopted. We are leaving this afternoon. Pack your things."

Wait what? thought May. A foster home? Like, an orphanage? But orphanages are horrible places! The kids there get mistreated! There's no good food! Dad wouldn't want that.

She slowly got up. She didn't want to go anywhere with this horrid lady. She was going to go upstairs and take a nap or something. The horrible lady could yell and scream all she wanted, but she wasn't going anywhere with her!

"It will take me hours to say goodbye to all my stuff. So, don't expect me for four hours." said May slyly. And then she ran upstairs.

After she entered her room, she noticed that her laptop was lying on her desk, with a note on it. She read:

Dear May,

I fixed your laptop. You can play Minecraft on it now. But today we are going backpacking, so don't play yet.

Love

Dad

Oh. She hadn't seen it before. Well, May thought. I'm going to play this. Might as well, since Dad wanted me to.

She logged on and clicked on the Minecraft app. And clicked "create new world". She had never played before. She looked at the settings. She clicked "survival mode" and clicked "normal". Then she clicked "create new world".

"I wonder what you even do in Minecraft." she thought as she waited for it to load. Then she felt weird. She felt dizzy, and everything was going out of focus. The world started spinning and spinning, and then suddenly it stopped. She was… not in her room any more. She was in a flowery meadow next to a stream. And everything was in cubes.

Sorry for the cliff hanger, but the story was so long that I had to separate

the two parts.
