Ch 37
"Ugggghhhhhh" moaned Lan, as he lifted himself off the ground and out of a pile of garbage, his head pounding from his first ever hangover "What happened?"
"Om nom nom" came a voice from his foot. Lan looked down and saw Trey salivating as he chewed on Ignis's tail, the owner of which was whimpering slightly and staring pleadingly in Lan's direction.
Lan looked around the room as he pulled Ignis into his arms and away from Trey. Around him everybody was in various states of post-party unconsciousness. Byakko and Chiyo were cuddling on the couch, Tora was passed out at the table surrounded by many bottles of alcohol, and the rest of the pirates were in similar states of disarray.
"Well, that was a fun party" said Lan, getting up onto his shaky feet. He then walked over and shook Trey awake.
"Hu-huh, OH! Something you need dude?" said Trey.
"Come on, while everyone is asleep, you, me, and the little guys are going to clean up a little bit." Said Lan.
"You got it bro" said Trey, who stood up, and caused Lan to recoil in surprise as he saw something had hadn't noticed prior "Just let me find some pants before I get my cleaning supplies."
"Great" said Lan, his left eye twitching, "and while you're at it, get me something to clean my eyeballs with."
They then split into three groups and began to carefully and quietly move around people as they cleaned up the room.
"Swiftly" thought Lan as he quickly plucked 6 pieces of garbage off a sleeping pirate's form in less than a second as not to disturb him.
"Silently", as he tiptoed through a mine field of sleeping forms, plucking garbage of the floor as he went.
"Skillfully", as he plucked pieces of refuse out of cracks in the wall and ground with chopsticks.
Trey, who observed Lan doing this attempted to do similarly but had dismal results.
"Swiftly" thought Trey, who attempted to pick candy wrappers off a man's body. However while doing so, he accidently knocked a bowl of pudding onto the man's face, waking him up and causing him to stare at Trey angrily.
"Sorry dude" said Trey who wiped the man's face with a wet rag.
"Silently" thought Trey as he attempted to clean the some stains off the counter, only to knock over some glass bottles which shattered and woke up all those who were asleep closely, who after seeing that the source of the disturbance was Trey, sighed in exasperation before going back to sleep.
"Sorry dudes" said Trey, who picked up the glass fragments and placed them in a plastic bag.
"Skillfully" thought Trey, as he tried to lean over a man and collect the garbage right under him, however Trey slipped and fell right on top of the guy who woke up, saw Trey on top of him and after staring in awkward silence.
"Whooaaa" said Trey, who chuckled slightly "This is like, really awkward."
The man quickly pushed Trey off of him before getting up, brushing himself off frantically, and rushing to the showers.
"Sorry dude" said Trey, who was still on his back on the floor.
"Here" said Lan, who handed Trey a pair of tongs and a trash bag, "Just go with what you know for now, if you want training, I can help you with that later."
"It's a promise dude" said Trey.
After cleaning up what they could at the party and leaving everyone to sleep, Lan brought Trey to Byakko's house (which now had a giant forge attached at the side). Since Trey would be living with them, Lan had to designate a living space for him, and the place he decided on was:
"Here's the attic, decorate it as you please!" said Lan
"Dude, this place is much bigger than my room back at my old house" said Trey in wonder, "Ooooh and so rustic" as he wiped some dust off an old table which promptly fell to pieces.
"Need help moving in?" said Lan.
"Nah I got bro" said Trey, "You just focus on what you need to do, I can take care of my own biz."
And true to his word, over the next few days, Trey industriously cleaned up the room and brought in all of his things over from his old home. Turns out, when he isn't trying to look cool when doing something, he can do quite a good job as evidenced by him adding an extension to the house's electrical system to include power outlets in the attic.
"Not bad, not bad" said Lan after inspecting the refurbished attic, which now contained a bed, a wardrobe filled with Trey's clothes, and a variety of tools and devices that Trey used for his handyman professions and entertainment.
"Yep" said Trey, who pulled a soda from a mini-fridge near his bed "As of today, I have officially moved in, isn't that right my feathered roommate?"
Edel Kukked from his nest in the rafters of the ceiling, and flew down to eat the crumbs from the snacks Trey was always eating.
"Good to be living with you too featherhead." Said Trey who shoved some corn chips into his mouth, scattering crumbs all over the floor.
"And on that note I got to get going" said Lan "Now that everyone's gotten over their party hangovers, and are back in working form, it's time for this crew to hit the skies again."
"Yes" said Trey, who fist pumped, "When shall we set sail?"
"But who will take care of the house while we're gone?" asked Lan.
"I will!" said Trey, who raised his hand.
"Didn't you say you wanted to set sail?" asked Lan
"Yes I do" said Trey.
"…so do you want to set sail or watch the house?"
"Wherever I am needed most!" said Trey with his most serious expression, which to Lan appeared quite comical.
"…you want to join us on the ship?" asked Lan who was suppressing his giggles.
"Sounds good, I'll pack my gear and be back", Trey then walked backwards into his closet where soon after the sounds of zippers emerged from.
"Okay, if I remember correctly, this week, I'm going with the donkeys." Said Lan.
And so he did. The week finished without a hitch as the boy raided many ships and airships with the crew, but during this time he found that he didn't very much like tortillas, beans, or chili peppers (since each ship had its own unique cuisine corresponding to the captain's area of origin), so he avoided most of the foods there and mostly ate nachos and the desserts the mess hall served. But then when he returned to the cove, he received an unexpected surprise.
"You're leaving?" asked Lan as he stared at Byakko who had on an enormous house sized back pack on his broad shoulders.
"Yep" said Byakko, who was also holding a chained, gagged, and struggling Ransu under his armpit. "I think I've done all I can with this guy in the basement, time to bring him to the valley now. I'll be gone around six months."
"Gonna miss you grandpa" said Lan.
"That's my little warrior" said Byakko, who dropped Ransu, grabbed Lan, and proceeded to give the boy a noogie. "Always just rolling with the flow."
"I-ow- have to –gah- if I want to live with you –urgh-"said Lan as he winced with pain.
"Ahhaha, well this will be the first time I'm not around to protect your butt" said Byakko who dropped Lan, and grabbed Ransu who was trying to squirm away like a caterpillar. "But I trust you guys will take care of him, right boys."
Sounds of confirmation came from the pirates on the sidelines.
"All ready to go honey!" came Chiyo's voice as she rushed in wearing a light green summer dress, a straw hat, and pulling a small carry-on bag.
"Got you sweety" said Byakko, who picked her up and cradled her in his arms.
"Well, don't die while I'm gone Lan" said Byakko.
"I won't" said Lan.
"Bye"
"Bye"
With that Byakko's body blurred slightly before vanishing, creating a several sonic bubbles that launched the surrounding people backwards into the surroundings.
"He forgot to cancel out his sonic booms again" said Lan, who had fallen into a trash can.
"Yep" said everyone else.
Farther away in the corner of the valley, a small black crow was staring at the scene that just occurred. Its eyes made a whirring sound before it took off into the sky, where it flew to who knows where.

Over the next few weeks Lan sailed with the Onyx Owls, the Moonstone rabbits, and the Topaz Bears.
The onyx owls were a very patient and industrious group who swiftly struck their quarry and quickly carried out their objectives. They were a very patient group, but were constantly scrutinizing Lan and calling him up on every mistake he made. They also were constantly exasperated with Trey, who never seemed to understand the lessons that they were trying to teach him. The food served on that ship also strongly resembled the Chinese food of our world; as a result Lan quickly became sick of greasy stir fry dishes.
The Moonstone Rabbits applied various trickeries and deceptions to ensnare their targets in the trap before taking what they wanted. The crew was also primarily composed of woman, which sounds good, but Lan often found himself at the mercy of the crew's whims, many times he was pressured into wearing silly and weird outfits and made to sing and dance while the crew squealed in delight and took photos and videos. Thankfully the French cuisine served, Trey's clumsy helpfulness which scared the girls away sometimes (especially things involving him running around shirtless), and the little guys pulling their attention sometimes helped him avoid any lasting emotional scarring…mostly.
The Topaz bears were a warm a cordial group that could turn into fierce predators when pushed, so more passive ships were left relatively unharmed while those who fought back were turned into flaming wreckages with the crew having to flee on life boats. They treated Lan and company with happy and warm exuberance, and as a for the mess hall, only 4 words were necessary: Heaping Piles Of Everything. The members of the crew on this ship, men and woman, were all rather large and ate heartily, sharing their scraps with the little ones down below. Trey also fit right in, and was much appreciated for unclogging their frequently clogging toilets.
It was a fun time, and Lan learned much about seafaring, air faring, combat and other sky pirate related skills. However, that would all come to an end on Lan's third day flying with the Sapphire Sapiens.
.
.
.
"Fishing for dinner while making special arrows." Sang Lan as he fit a smokescreen grenade on the end of an arrow.
He was currently sitting on the deck of the ship which was currently set down in the water below. He, his little buddies, and Trey were currently fishing as they waited for Christopher to send them more information on their next strike.
"Dude, maybe you should make like, a fishing arrow, that can just like hook fish before they even have a chance to think about whether they want to eat the bait or not." Said Trey.
"Even better than that I have a fishing net arrow." Said Lan who knocked an arrow with a rope on it onto his artillery bow and fired it into the water. A few seconds later, he pulled it up and showed he had caught a few fish…as well as Edel who had been diving into the water to catch her prey.
"Dude, mind blown" said Trey, who made an exploding hand gesture near his head.
"Whoops, sorry girl" said Lan, who cut Edel loose.
The bird kukked angrily at Lan, then began furiously pecking him on the head.
"Ow Ow sorry Ow" said Lan who covered his head.
"Heh Heh, guess you deserved those ones" said Trey.
"Yeah, Yeah" said Lan, who finally got Edel to stop pecking him.
"Hey Lan" said Trey.
"Hmmm?"
"What are those little black dots on the horizon over there?" said Trey, who pointed towards the east.
"Hmmmm" said Lan who squinted his eyes and stared in the indicated direction. "From what I can tell, they appear to be large ships surrounded by smaller ships."
"Oooh, whatever could their destination be as they draw ever closer to us" said Trey.
"Well, first we have to see whether their friendly or—"
'ping'
The two of them stared at the scorch mark in the ship that had appeared right between them.
"Long range firearm, their hostile, run!" shouted Lan.
"Ahhhhhh!" screamed Trey.
Lan and co. quickly grabbed up their things and bolted back inside the ship. Once inside, Lan hit the emergency button on the wall and began yelling at the top of his lungs: "Hostiles attacking! Hostiles are fricken attacking!"
Within seconds, the crew had leapt from their seats and assumed combat positions.
"Get this ship out of the water!" shouted Christopher, who took his position on the bridge.
By then the clang of projectiles striking the metal could be heard all over the ship.
"Gunners, be prepared to intercept any incoming missiles, and why the hell aren't those shields up already!?"
Explosions could be heard from above as the guns shot down incoming explosives. Before long, the ship was up in the air and turned to face the oncoming enemies.
"Captain, visuals have been established" said a woman manning the scope who spotted a familiar emblem. "It's the Blackstones."
"Ohhh, so they think they can mess with us now that the Big Boss has left huh? Let's show these ******* that we're more than capable of eating them alive with or without the old man!... Sorry about the language boy."
"It's okay" said Lan, "I covered my ears beforehand."
"All weapons primed Captain!" shouted an Engineer who rushed into the room.
"Then let's raise some hell!" shouted Christopher. "Forward!"
The Sapphire Sapiens ship sped forward towards what could now be identified as three large ships surrounded by many smaller flying objects.
"We're close enough to cause some major damage to each other now, Fire!"
Dozens of firearms emerged from the ship and began to fire on the Blackstone ships which also began firing back.
"Small ships approaching!" shouted the woman on the scope "They are attempting to take out our big guns!"
"External defenses, take them out!"
Several men and woman riding on air bikes emerged from a hanger below the ships and began a fierce dogfight with the small ships. Others, including Lan, ran up to the deck and began shooting the ships down with their own ranged attack methods. With this set up, they were able to quickly shoot down a few ships, but then quickly noticed something strange.
"The ships are unmanned!" shouted a man on one of the air bikes who was shooting what looked like a motorcycle engine attached to a cannon at the enemy ships. "No pilots ejecting after we shoot them down!"
"Unmanned ships? That's the first time they've used those" muttered Christopher. He then yelled:
"Bring us in close so we can board the main ships!"
"I'm hitting the boosters!" shouted the pilot "Everyone hang on!"
The ship lurched forward quickly closing the distance until it was side by side with one of the large ships.
The Sapphire Sapiens ships then fired harpoons which pierced through the enemy shield and into the side of the enemy ship before reeling it in close.
"Board!" shouted Christopher.
A good number of the crew jumped on the chains and ran over to the other ship, including Lan and his littler friends. Trey lacked the agility and balance to do anything combative, so he was staying on the ship and gunning down approaching missiles (a job which he found to be just like a video game).
Before the first boarder arrived, turrets popped out from the deck and began firing at them. The Sapiens dodged and weaved, jumping from chain to chain before finally landing on the deck of the ship.
"AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH" screamed the first boarders as their bodies were coursed with electricity.
"The deck is electrified!" someone shouted.
"Someone find the power boxes!" shouted another, who threw a small sphere which activated above the incapacitated crewmembers and formed a force field to protect them from the turrets.
"Edel, your time to shine!" shouted Lan.
Edel kukked and flew forwards towards the ship. You see Dust Eagles defend themselves by coating their feathers in Dust which they use in combat, and to this end gained the ability to detect where high concentrations of Dust were.
Edel quickly circled the ship once, and then sent out 4 ice spikes with the dust container around its neck. The spikes embedded themselves on 4 well-hidden square shapes.
"Got it!" shouted Lan who quickly fired 4 explosive arrows at the four locations. Four explosions rocked the ship, and the electrified floor was shut off.
"Charge!" shouted Lan.
The injured were quickly helped back to the friendly ship, while those who were fortunate enough to be in the back boarded the vessel and set about destroying the turrets.
"Found the entrance" said a man who grabbed the door's wheel and unscrewed it. The door hissed open… and revealed a corridor filled with droids.
"Move!" shouted Lan. Ignis, George, and Edel shot forward and tackled the man out of the way before he could be hit with a hail of bullet fire.
"Fire in hole" shouted a burly man who fired a rocket into the corridor of droids.
"What the heck is going on?" muttered Christopher back on the ship "First unmanned ships, then that electrified deck, and now droids? This goes beyond anything we'd expect from the Blackstones."
"Main cannon ready Captain!" came a voice through his headpiece.
"Tell the men and woman on that ship to get back here after destroying the external shield projectors, we don't know what surprises they have down there, so just take out its outer defenses so we can blow it out of the sky!" shouted Christopher.
"Aye-Aye" shouted Lan, who fired several explosive arrows onto one of the enemy ship's force field projectors.
"Remote controlled ships are almost down" said one of the air bikers over the radio "won't be long till-"
'Beep''Beep''Beep'
Each of the three ships began blaring loud horns, and opened hangers from beneath their hulls. From them poured hundreds of small spherical drones that began firing at anything that got too close.
"Oh son of a—"
"The last shield is down!" came another voice over the radio.
"Pull back so we can blast it out of the sky!" shouted Christopher.
Everyone darted back onto the chains and back onto the ship. After the last man had returned, the hooks were released and the ship was turned so that the front now faced the unprotected ship. The front of the ship slid opened, revealing a large cannon which was already crackling with energy.
"Fire!" shouted Christopher.
A blue energy beam blasted forwards and tore right through the enemy ship, leaving a large smoldering hole running right through it. The enemy ship then lost power, and began to fall out of the sky before crashing into the ocean and exploding.
"Yes" said Christopher "now we just got to deal with—"
He froze as he looked at the two other enemy ships. They had their main cannons fully charged and aimed at their ship.
"EVASIVE MANEUVERS!" Roared Christopher.
"It's too late, we won't make it in time!" yelled the pilot,
"Then reroute the shields to focus on the targeted areas!"
Lan shot three drones out of the sky with his bow, and then turned just in time to see the two ships each fire large particle beams, both of which struck the same point on the side of the ship. The ship rocked, causing many of those fighting atop it to lose their footing and be overwhelmed by the drones.
After the beams finished firing, the ship was still airborne, but was smoking in several places and had many fractures in its frame.
"Our shields are down!" shouted an engineer.
"God—Why didn't you guys evade beforehand?" shouted Christopher.
"Sorry boss, but we can't know what's coming when those damn drones are blocking our visuals and emitting waves that are interfering with our sensors!" yelled one of the pilots sarcastically.
"Damnit!" said Christopher, who slammed his fist into the dashboard "Where is all of this new stuff coming from… no choice. Prepare two of the Goliath Buster missiles, and aim one at each ship!"
Goliath Busters were as the name implied, designed to kill a giant Goliath Grimm. As a result of the great amount of firepower packed into one missile, the devils were quite expensive. The ship only had three onboard for emergencies.
Down in the missile bay, the busters (which had pictures of Goliaths with x's for eyes on the sides) began being loaded. Up on the deck, the fight with the drones was growing more frantic as people tried to get the things off their overwhelmed friends.
"Okay Lan" thought Lan as he cut apart some drones with his heated knives "Time for you to push your limits, remember it is in the gravest of moments that heroes gain the greatest power. Pixie Story has shown that time and time again, especially in volume 3."
Lan then activated his semblance and attempted to create the largest crystal he could. A large crystal twice the length of his arm and resembling a jagged toothpick appeared.
"Whoa!" said Lan as he held it in his hands. "This is way above my expectations! OH! Maybe I can do something else now, let's see."
Lan closed his eyes as he batted away a drone with his crystal stick, and concentrated. He indeed felt something different now besides the feeling he usually used to bring about his crystal semblance. He reached out for it and felt it respond to him.
'pop'
Lan opened his eyes and saw a small glowing white sphere with a dark blue center hovering right in front of his face.
"Cool, now how do I use-"
He then spotted a drone quickly speeding towards him.
"Ah!" he shouted, pointing at it "Ene—"
'Fwoosh'
The small ball shot forwards in the direction he was pointing, collided with the drone and with a slight pop, exploded. No damage was externally visible, but the machine's inner components had been cracked and bludgeoned, as a result it sparked in a few places before deactivating and falling out of the sky.
"…neat" said Lan "I still got so much to learn about my semblance."
Back inside.
"Missiles loaded captain" said an engineer in the missile bay.
"Fire!" Shouted Christopher.
The two missiles blasted forwards and bee lined towards their targets. Suddenly all the drones began flashing red and began to swarm around the missiles, bashing them and blasting them with lasers. The missiles had barely traveled half their intended distance before exploding, incinerating any drones that were nearby. There were, however, more than enough drones in the air such that the losses barely made a dent in their numbers.
"Damn, it seems we have to thin their numbers first" said Christopher, who pounded his fist on the dashboard.
Lan who had just witnessed began thinking as he cut and shot drones out of the air, the people around him were getting more and more exhausted and the longer they waited the more likely the enemy's main cannons could fire again. They had to do something now! At that moment, the image of a wild haired old man appeared in the boy's mind bringing a smile to the boy's face.
"Time to do something crazy, dangerous, and completely foolhardy!" said Lan, who pointed his right index finger into the air and put his left hand on his hip before rushing back into the ship.
Back on the bridge, Christopher was furiously directing the battle.
"Captain, our last missile has been loaded!" came an engineer's voice over his headpiece.
"Right, this is our last one so we've got to wait for the right moment" said Christopher.
"Yes si—"started the engineer, but suddenly there was the sound of a commotion on the other side of the line "Hey kid what the—ah Ah AH! Stop get off—No don't touch that!"
"Sorry guys" came Lan's voice, as the room began to be filled with the sound of the missile launching "But I need to do something stupid and reckless!"
"Report!" shouted Christopher "What is going on down there!"
"It's Lan!" shouted one of the engineers "He's –"
'BOOOM!'
The last Goliath Buster missile was fired from the Sapphire Sapiens's ship, and rocketed forwards.
"He's riding on the missile!" finished the engineer.
"What!?" shouted Christopher.
True enough Lan was standing atop the missile, his feet stuck to the weapon with dozens of crystal spikes on the bottom of his shoes that penetrated the metal.
"Whoa!" shouted Lan, as he leaned left and caused the missile to avoid a swarm of drones "I really hope I can survive this experience, because this is awesome!"
Ahead of his a large swarm of droids clustered together to intercept the missile.
"Ain't gonna work!" shouted Lan, who pulled out his knives and placed the hilts together. His semblance activated and covered the hilt's of the knives in crystal before extending outwards, creating a makeshift dual sided spear. "Bring it!"
Lan began bobbing and weaving through the fray by leaning in the direction he wanted to fly in, avoiding drones and cutting apart any that got too close. However, some beams did manage to get through his defenses which grazed both him and the missile.
"He's going on strong!" said the crewmember on the scope. "He's gotten farther than our other two missiles got!"
"That crazy little" said Christopher, chuckling slightly, he then turned on his headset and sent out a message to every pirate "Cover the boy everyone! We don't want him to blow up!"
A barrage of projectiles flew from the ship, crew, and air bikers that tore through the swarm surrounding Lan.
With their assistance, Lan was able to break through the swarm of drones and begin to close in on the ships.
"Fire the main cannon on the right ship!" shouted Lan through his headpiece.
"Why?" said Christopher through his.
"It'll push the ships closer together!" shouted Lan, as he deflected drone beam fire with his staff.
"Got it!" shouted Christopher, who understood the boy's plan. "Fire!"
The ship fired, and struck the right ship, which glowed from its force field protecting it, but was still forced closer to the other ship.
"Alright" said Lan who was almost there "Just got to find the right time to jump off!"
It was then he noticed something approaching his from above. It was an unmanned ship which began firing at him.
Lan had no confidence to block its higher caliber weapons, so he swerved left and right to avoid the fire. While he swerved left and right, he holstered his makeshift spear, pulled out his bow and when he discovered that his quiver was empty, created a small crystal arrow.
"Whoa" said Lan, as he suddenly found his vision swimming slightly "using too much Aura. Whah!"
An energy beam passed close by his face, causing him to tilt the missile directly upwards towards the craft.
"Crystal Arrow" said Lan, knocking it and aiming it at the craft, "first time's the charm!"
The boy let the arrow fly, it flew straight upwards and pierced deep into the craft, damaging its CPU. The ship then exploded in a few places and began to fall towards the space between the two large enemy ships.
"Oh that is perfect" said Lan who framed the scene between his thumbs and index fingers before steering the missile towards the destroyed craft.
"And jump!" shouted Lan, who dissolved the crystal spikes on his shoes and jumped off the missile. "And a little extra insurance!"
Lan focused and created a couple more of the energy spheres he had made earlier, and had them fly forward to disrupt the drones that were close enough to possibly intercept the missile.
"And now I'm out" said Lan, who's eyes rolled into the back of his head as he passed out.
"I got you kid!" shouted an air biker who shot forward through the drones, grabbed Lan's wrist, and hoisted the boy onto his bike before heading back to the ship. Shortly after, the missile struck the wreckage of the unmanned ship while being right between the two larger ships. The resulting massive explosion tore apart the two ships' force fields and greatly damaged their hulls and engines. The ships were still airborne and functional, but were in no shape to do any pursuit.
"That's it boys!" shouted Christopher "They can't follow us anymore, but we can't risk direct confrontation with our ship in this state. Pull out!"
After all the crewmembers had returned to the ship, it's main engines came to life and began to push it out of the fray, it's external defenses taking down the droids and the last of the unmanned ships as it went. Before long it had cleared enemy lines and was on its way to freedom.
Far Far away in a darkened room, this scene was shown on one of the monitors in the Blackstone Alliance headquarters.
"Dammit, almost had them!" shouted Goldhorn, who slammed his fist on the table. "Stupid kid!"
"But you gotta admit, that was the closest we've ever gotten to actually shooting down one of their ships." Said Gaius "the kid's moves were also pretty impressive."
"Oh cut the crap!" said Lusca "We got to finish them before that old man gets back or we're all toast!"
"Calm yourself" came the raspy voice from the hooded figure "The drones were merely collecting data this time around, and once we combine this data with that from the attacks on the other 7 ships, the artificial intelligence will be more prepared to deal with them when the final attack is launched on their headquarters."
"And cleanup preparations?" asked Goldhorn.
"We have discovered several fault lines near the cove, from which earthquakes could be triggered. After that we have made preparations to draw a large amount of Grimm to swarm the area at your discretion."
"Good" said Goldhorn leaning back in his chair "Still, it woulda been nice if we could have taken some of them out beforehand."
"True" said the hooded figure "But then they wouldn't get to see the main event. Isn't that right?"
"I guess so" said Goldhorn, who took a swig from his flagon "wouldn't want them to be no shows at the main party."
.
.
.
1 hour later over the seas near Vale.
"Whew" said Christopher as he checked the radar "We lost them. How's our little hero holding up?"
"Still asleep dad" said Trey, who was cradling Lan in his arms "Checked his aura just now and it's at around 3 percent, could be a while before—Oop ooop he's waking up now!"
"Ugh" said Lan as his eyelids fluttered open "Where am—"
"Hey little dude!" said Trey "Welcome back to the waking—"
"Ahhh! Giant hairless beaver!" screamed Lan, who punched and caved in Trey's face.
Trey dropped Lan onto the floor and began running around in a circle as he tried to pull his face out of the dent Lan had just made.
"Whoops! Sorry Trey." Said Lan as the boy finally recognized the man.
"Nah its fine" said Trey who finally managed to pull his face back out "I get told that a lot."
"Good to see that you're feeling fine kid" said Christopher.
"Yeah, I heal fast" said Lan.
"Well, you did a good job back there." Said Christopher "But you were way too reckless kid, if you always run in doing crazy stuff like that you're gonna get yourself killed."
"I don't" said Lan who had just been tackled by his little buddies "I only do crazy stuff when all other possibilities I can see have a low chance of having me and my friends live to see the next day."
"We would have found another way though, we always do." Said Christopher, as he bent down and ruffled Lan's hair "So think things through a little more next time you do something like that."
"Okay" said Lan "I'll think a little bit more first."
"But still, credit is still due. Good job getting us out of there. Come on, give the boy a hand everyone."
The people around him began to gently applaud him, with a few positive words of encouragement like "Yeah boi!"added in. They couldn't applaud much harder though because many of them had been injured in the attack, many of whom were currently being patched up in the infirmary.
"Well anyways" said Christopher "We're low on fuel and badly damaged. Before we head back home we'd better patch ourselves up at one of our hidden supply depots."
He then turned to the pilot.
"Set a course for the island of Patch" he said.
And here we have the end of this chapter. Were the action scenes described well enough? I try my best but I am not the best of writers, and have no one to discuss story ideas with.
The main action behind this arc is beginning now, and as always I hope you can give me your suggestions and support, as well as recommend this story so that it can possibly attract the attention of Rooster teeth.
As for the average pirate crew member, I would put their skill as above the average White Fang or Atlesian soldier, but below that of a huntsman/huntress student.
And for those of you who haven't figured it out, it wasn't Lan who got stronger.
Also, we'll be having our first cameos in a while next chapter. Enjoy.
