Inside of Class 80-B's classroom is everyone from Class 80-A I've met so far plus an extra seven faces that I don't recognize.

Damn it.

But which of those faces belong to 80-A and which belong to 80-B?

One of the seven faces immediately catches my eyes. Not because they're particularly attractive or hideous but...she's kind of scary. Also she's staring at me with creepy ass serial killer eyes and I hate it.

She's a bit taller than me. She has cute features, I'll give her that, but everything else about her cancels it out. The girl has extremely mussed up shoulder-length blueish silver hair with strands sticking out every which way. She's thin but with the 'clothes' she's wearing I can see that she has some toned muscle too. She's still staring at me with those creepy dark purple, almost black eyes. Her 'clothes' consist of dirty pajama pants with little teddy bears all over them with one leg torn off below the knee. She wears a white oversized men's dress shirt with an extremely suspicious stain over the stomach and, of course, her creepy look is completed with her dirty bare-feet on the classroom floor.

Her face is completely expressionless as she stares at me so I can't tell what she's thinking about. She's standing all hunched over and tensed up like my entering the room suddenly threatened her entire existence. What the hell is someone like this doing in Hope's Peak?

Kasumi tugs on my sleeve, having noticed the girl staring at me. "S-Sora…" she whispers. "Is that blood on her shirt?" she asks, growing pale.

"What?" I ask, looking back at the creepy girl.

The more I look at her the more I start to believe that the stain actually is blood.

Creepy Girl seems to come back down to Earth, her eyes becoming a little more focused. She looks down at her shirt when she sees Kasumi and I staring at her. Then she looks back up at us and it's like a switch flipped in her brain - her expression switches to something manic and frenzy. "Stare at me any longer and I'll be more than happy to add your blood to my shirt-"

"Stare at me any longer and I'll be more than happy to add your blood to my shirt." a girl with watermelon pink hair beside Creepy Girl mimics mockingly. "Shut up, Greyface." she says, rolling her eyes.

Did I hear that right? 'Greyface'?

...

What the fuck is Headmaster Naegi on? Bringing that kind of person into a school full of vulnerable, traumatized children? I mean, granted we've all learned how to survive and protect ourselves but still.

Greyface. I've heard of that name before. That name has been all over the news for the past year or so. It's the name of a serial killer, a title given to them because of the way they kill their victims. They drain their victims of all their blood so their bodies turn gray.

But Greyface being a teenage girl? I never thought - I don't even know what I thought - but - I just -

Greyface cackles when she sees the growing confusion and fear on my face. "You've heard of me!"

"I-I-I-" I stammer, unsure of what to say to a literal serial killer.

The watermelon pink haired girl who mocked Greyface earlier rolls her eyes again and sticks her hand into the pocket of Greyface's shirt. "Don't be scared of her. She can't do anything here." Watermelon says reassuringly and hands me her PDA. "See?" she says, nodding to the far side of the room.

I look to where she's gesturing and feel ten times better when I see five armed guards pointing their rifles at Greyface.

"Oh." I say and Kasumi lets out a big sigh of relief from behind me.

"She is in our class though so I'm sure she'll grow to like us eventually." Watermelon says. "Go on, register her so you can register me." she says with a friendly smile.

"Well this was certainly unprecedented." the woman says as she flips through Greyface's file.

"A serial killer, huh?" the man coughs, clearing his throat.

"Indeed." the woman nods.

"Wrath, I'm guessing?"

"Yup."

I cringe as I read over the information on my newest classmate.

...What the hell is Headmaster Naegi on?

"Beats me." Watermelon says with a shrug, reading my mind. I hand Greyface's PDA to Kasumi and Watermelon hands me another one, presumably hers. "Anyways, it is I, yours truly, the Ultimate Impressionist, Kaori Yoshino!" she says, introducing herself with a dramatic bow.

Another comedian-esque talent and a girl whose initials are K and Y...I don't like where this is going.

"Another comedian, huh?" the man says. "She and Yuan should make for some great entertainment...while they're alive." he says. "What's her deal?"

"She's quite the envious one." the woman says. "Leagues more than Oishi. Almost the same level as Kimidori, though, maybe even more." she says with a smile. "I'm interested to see how she'll behave, especially around that one." the woman says, pointing to someone on one of their many screens. "You've read her file," the woman says. "What do you think?"

The man grins. "I agree with you wholeheartedly."

I need to take a second to recover from the switch of dealing with Greyface to talking to this girl, Kaori, so I take a second to look her over after I register her in my PDA.

Kaori looks like she's the same height as Greyface but a little bit thinner and lacking in muscle compared to the serial killer. But, considering what I understand her talent to be, Kaori is surprisingly well-built and fit. Kaori's skin is a bit pale and she has coffee colored eyes. Her medium-length watermelon pink hair is tied into two large pigtails on either side of her head...now that I'm looking at her closer her roots seem to be a different color than the rest of her hair. But I digress. Like most of us in the room, Kaori is wearing the Hope's Peak uniform.

Hm.

I introduce myself and glance down at my PDA, reading over her information.

"Jeez, that must be such a boring talent." Kaori says with a fake yawn. "Don't you want to interact with people, make 'em laugh instead of…whatever you do?"

Another gremlin.

And 'whatever you do'? What else does 'bookbinder' imply other than binding books?

Kasumi stifles a laugh as she hands back Greyface's PDA to Kaori.

"You shut your mouth, gremlin." I hiss, grabbing and pinching Kasumi's cheek.

"I di'n't say anyfin!" Kasumi whines as she struggles to pry my hand away.

Kaori continues without missing a beat, "There's gotta be some positivity in the world or else things go sour." she says as she tosses Greyface's PDA back to her. "Anyways, you know my name, I know your name, but I don't know blondie's name." Kaori says, gesturing to the gremlin I'm assaulting.

I grab Kasumi's other cheek and start pulling and pinching at both of them, preventing her from speaking normally. "Her name is Kasumi Yuan and she's little b-"

"UGH! Can we just get going with this already? I have much more important things to do than wait around for...whatever this gathering is." comes the bitchy voice of a teenage girl.

Before I can turn around and be bitchy right back to her, someone sounds a small air horn from beside me. I turn to see the culprit, a girl just barely bigger than Kasumi, looking at me with the mini red klaxon horn in hand. In her other hand she holds up a notebook, showing me a note.

Are you and the other girl the last two from Class 80-A?

"Yes, but why-?"

She quickly flips to another page, a note already written there.

Harumi Gen Cho is also in Class 80th. Class 80-B specifically.

I cringe, glancing at the bitchy girl with lemonade pink hair (is pink hair a new trend I missed while the apocalypse was going on?) admiring her nails. "Don't tell me…"

The girl nods and I sigh. "Gremlin." I call, looking over at Kasumi and Kaori. I don't like the grins the gremlins have on their faces and judging by the look on the silent girl's face, she doesn't either.

Kasumi turns towards me. "Baby raccoon?"

"Her." I say, pointing at Bitchy Lemonade. "She's another one."

Kasumi's eyes follow in the direction I'm pointing and she cringes too. She whispers something to Kaori and comes back to stand beside me. "Really?"

I nod, glancing at the girl who has yet to speak thus far. She nods in encouragement and I sigh again. "C'mon, let's get this over with." I say and approach the girl.

"Harumi Gen Cho," the woman says. "Or as the boss likes to call her, the Ultimate Bitch." she snorts.

The man rolls his eyes. "I've heard of her. Isn't she the one one of our own got to that one time?"

"I believe so, yes."

The man hums. "She got what was coming to her." he says, turning back to the screen he and the woman are focused on. "Now...we should finally be getting into the good stuff now." he grins. "Let's go."

"No."

"Oh come on." I groan, rolling my eyes. "You were just whining about getting whatever this is going and you're in our class anyway. Just give us your PDA so we can-"

"Absolutely not." Bitchy Lemonade snaps. "I'm-"

"What a bitch." Kasumi says under her breath, looking at Bitchy Lemonade distastefully.

Bitchy Lemonade's face drops immediately and I have to bite my tongue to keep myself from laughing. "Silence!" she says, insulted. "Who do you think you are to refer to me in that way? Do you know who I am? You'd be dumb not to, I'm one of the most famous girls in all of Japan!" she cries. "The soon to be head of the Danuja Dynasty, mhm, now are we starting to connect the dots?"

Kasumi and I share a look, clueless looks on both of our faces.

Bitch Lemonade scowls. "Hmph, pathetic, I should've known Hope's Peak wouldn't clarify my arrival with you people." she says and sighs dramatically, pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head. "This reminds me of the day I met Takako Uehara during one of her dumb shows, she seriously had the nerve to ask me why I was hiding backstage." she mutters and sighs. "Ugh, very well, I'll only introduce myself once so listen up." Bitchy Lemonade says and pulls out her PDA, offering it to us with a reluctant look on her face. "I am Harumi Gen Cho, soon to be heir of the Danuja Dynasty. I am known as the Ultimate Confectioner!"

I take her PDA, ignoring her dramatic introduction, and register her in my PDA. I wordlessly hand Harumi's PDA to Kasumi and look over her information even though I really don't care that much.

Ultimate Confectioner

How can someone who makes sweets for a living be so...not sweet?

I give her a once over, noticing how out of place she looks for a society recovering from a mini-apocalypse. She looks like the antithesis of Masaki - she's so healthy looking. Not to say that everyone looks malnourished like Masaki, everyone carries some kind of indicator that they lived through the Tragedy. They have scars or haunted looks like Luan, skinny malnourished bodies like Masaki, or unnatural behaviors like…

...

Anyways, Harumi looks like Kanna in the sense that they both look like they just walked out of one of those old magazines. She looks well-nourished and there's not a single blemish or scar on her milky white skin. Harumi's gold eyes that make me wish I had a different eye color are accented by a dash of eyeliner and her lips, like her nails, are painted a cherry red. Her wavy lemonade pink hair reaches down to her shoulders and she has a neatly braided crown at the top of her hair that's tied together by a crisp white bow. She also has a matching white bow wrapped around her neck. Harumi's bangs are meticulously set apart in three pieces, two pointed to the side and one pointed down in the middle. She also wears what looks like glimmering rock candy in the shape of 3-D stars as earrings. There are two of them on each ear, one red and one white. Amazingly, the almighty Harumi Gen Cho has deemed the Hope's Peak uniform worthy of being worn by someone as 'famous' as her.

Kasumi self-consciously reaches up to her eyes as she reads Harumi's information. "You don't like the color green…?"

But, before Harumi can answer (cough insult cough) Kasumi, two very recognizable silhouettes jump up from behind the teacher's desk at the front of the room. Almost all of the twentyish people in the room, including myself, are struck with the same fear and dread that we came to know back when Junko Enoshima first turned Japan into a playground for her and her Ultimate Despair groupies.

They look like two recolored Monokumas, one a solid dark red and one a solid light blue.

"Hello, hello, hello, everybody!" the blue one says. "Boy, it's nice to finally meet you all and it's nice that you've all finally met each other!" they say cheerfully. This one has a more feminine voice compared to the Monokuma we all know.

"Shut the fuck up." the red one says. "We're not here to be friends with them, we're here to teach them." they say, annoyed. This one has a similar voice to Monokuma albeit a bit deeper.

"Excuse me!?" Harumi snaps. "Are you seriously implying that our teachers are two ugly ass bears?"

Kaori walks up and roughly starts patting the red one on the head. "Shut the fuck up." she repeats the red bear's earlier words in a disturbingly perfect voice. "What the hell do you mean you're here to teach us?" she asks.

Greyface smiles creepily. "Have we all just been lured into a trap? HAHAHAHAHAHA, this is GREAT! Are you going to throw us into a Killing Game!?" she laughs, jumping around excitedly.

Masaki doesn't say anything, instead staring at the two bears with a mixture of hatred and sadness. I wonder what's up with that?

"D-Don't be scared, guys." Shun says, trying to sound tough but her fear is clear as day on her face. "We're inside Hope's Peak and there are armed guards right - oh." she turns around to point at the armed guards that had guns pointed at Greyface but they've mysteriously disappeared. I didn't hear them leave though…

Kanna frowns, biting the inside of her cheek. "I don't understand…" she trails off, mumbling things under her breath.

Yosuke looks extremely displeased, almost like he wants to lecture the two bears. "It was through my belief in the Lord alone that I managed to get through the Tragedy safely," he says. "I never once regretted dedicating my life to serving Him and if you mean to do harm to us, we will get out of this because He is on our side." Yosuke says confidently.

"So," Juriya says. "you're clearly something different than that creature, if your colors are anything to go by. What do we call you?"

"Oh my." Takeshi frowns, tilting his head to the side and tapping his chin. "Apologies but I find it hard to believe you mean to teach us."

"Relax, honey." Candace says, putting a comforting hand on Kanna's shoulder. "You're gonna get wrinkles if you keep making that face."

"Aww, they're so cute!" Toshiro coos, earning a few surprised and suspicious looks from those around him. He walks up to stand beside Kaori, looking closely at the bears. "I wonder…"

"H-Huh?" Hitoshi stutters, looking between the two bears in confusion. "Teach...us? What the hell can two recolored carbon copies of Monokuma teach us!?" he shouts, starting to get angry.

Ken frowns, mimicking Takeshi's pose. "Hmm...I may be in the minority here but I don't think they're here to cause us harm." he says.

Armen stares at the bears with an indifferent, almost bored look on his face. Then, without a word, he looks back down at his PDA and continues scrolling through it.

Luan, however, looks the angriest out of all of us. He holds Yukiko close to him, a hellfire in his eyes as Yukiko stares at the two bears in wonder.

Kasumi's stares at the bears with curiosity and adoration, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Talking toys? I want one-" she says but I quickly grab the back of her blazer, pulling her back.

"Bad Kasumi." I say lowly, looking at the bears nervously. "Don't you know what they are?"

Kano joins the small crowd around the two bears, a curious look on his face. "I wonder…" he trails off, muttering something about the bears.

Mai cringes, "They may be different colors but that face only means one thing, yes?"

Harlequin hums and starts circling the desk the two bears are standing on. "I know that face, don't I?" he wonders out loud.

"BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" one of the unfamiliar boys in the room bursts out laughing. "I'm with you on this one, serial killer girl! C'MOOOOOOOON, throw us into a Killing Game!" the green haired boy cheers.

A boy with jet black hair approaches the bears but doesn't get as close as Kaori and Toshiro and the rest. "Who is it behind those bears?" he asks calmly. "Reveal yourself now before things get any worse for you. Who do you think you are, sneaking into the rebuilt Hope's Peak?" he scoffs.

The girl who'd spoken to me with a notebook earlier is still quiet. She looks conflicted, like she finds the bears cute like Toshiro, Yukiko, and Kasumi, but the angered, scared reactions of everyone else has her unsure of how to feel.

"Fuck you, bear. You look like you came from a middle schooler's sketchbook!" a girl with black hair says to the red bear. "You look nothing like a teacher!"

As the mixture of 80-A and 80-B students talk over each other, the red bear grows increasingly angry. Then, he looks like he's about to speak, but he and the light blue bear suddenly drop, and their glowing jagged red eyes suddenly dim, almost as if they've been turned off.

Then, two people wearing split black and white robes with hoods that obscure their faces walk into the room. "This really isn't how we wanted to do things." one of them says disappointedly. A man's voice. "We wanted to hack the bears after they talked about how you all earned detention on the first day of school, yadda yadda yadda, and we were going to take you to the place we've taken such care in setting up for you all." he says.

"But," the second hooded figure starts. A woman's voice. "since you all seem hellbent on not trusting Tenshikuma and Akumakuma or letting them speak, we'll take you there ourselves." she says and locks the classroom door. She and the man pull down their hoods, revealing gas masks. "Now, go to sleep."

A white smoke starts to fill the entire room making most everyone scream and panic, but the screaming quickly stops after we all pass out.

"Sora!"

...Hm?

"SORA, WAKE UP YOU RACCOON!"

I jolt awake when something sharply smacks me across the face. "Wh-What the hell?" I gasp, looking around for my aggressor when I lock eyes with a worried Kasumi.

"Why are you in a jumpsuit?"

Kasumi shakes her head, gesturing around the room we're in. "It's not just me." she says.

I look around more calmly this time and everything comes back to me, the bears (Tenshikuma and Akumakuma apparently), the man and woman in Monokuma-esque robes, the smoke…

All twenty-two of us that were in that room are now in another room. There's no furniture bar a single TV mounted on the wall, it's cold, and the walls and floor are plain concrete. There's a single door with the appearance of prison cell bars that would lead us to freedom but I'm assuming it's locked since we're all still here.

Also, we've all been changed into stereotypical prisoner jumpsuits. Looking at the back of one student, I can see that it also says something on the back in big bold letters:

HOPE'S PEAK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

What the hell is going on here!?

Before I can ask Kasumi anything else, the door to our large cell suddenly opens and two students are roughly tossed inside, a foreign looking boy and a girl with imperial red hair. Just like us, they're wearing jumpsuits.

The door roughly closes behind them and we're once again locked inside.

The pair groan in pain as they pick themselves up off the floor. They lift their heads up, looking around, just as confused as us.

The boy frowns, locking eyes with us confusedly. "Espera, estoy confundido." he says. "What are we doing here? What is going on?" the boy asks.

The girl scratches her head, matching the boy's expression. "Uh…pardon me, but what happened to us? Why're y'all here?"

After some initial hesitation due to some of us believing that the two might be plants from our kidnappers, Mai and Kanna put our minds at ease when Mai reveals that she has the girl registered in her PDA and Kanna has the boy registered in hers.

Takeshi helps fill in the blanks the two are missing (along with some unhelpful, sarcastic input from Kano), and everyone goes back to what they were doing before.

It's not like we can do anything else but wait.

"Perdón," comes the boy from earlier's voice. I turn my head to look at him. "I-I don't think we have met." the boy says. "I have just come back from a…" he yawns. "a...job?" he says, almost like a question. I mean, to be fair the boy's thick Spanish accent makes it seem like he just walked out of Spain yesterday so I can understand if he's a bit unsure with his Japanese. "I was muy cansado when I returned to Hope's Peak so I fell asleep in my room, but…."

"But you woke up here, right?" I guess.

The boy nods.

Foreign Student Number Three is fairly taller than me and Kasumi. He has a lean build and a medium frame. He has quite a large, light burn scar streaking across his face that stands out against his healthy olive brown skin. It extends from the right side of his forehead, past his nose, and down to the center of his left cheek. I can also see a few darker toned freckles scattered across his cheeks. He has wide, light turquoise eyes that are currently a bit lidded - I guess he's still a bit drowsy - and long lashes. His chin-length brown hair looks a bit messy and spikes at the ends. A few shorter strands are swept back like they were pulled by the wind and his bangs are parted a little bit more to the right. He also has two longer strands of hair that reach just past his chin that are dyed a fiery red.

"Nice to meet you." I say and nod at Kasumi. "This is the bane of my Hope's Peak career, Kasumi Yuan. My name is Sora Sugawara."

"Another international student." the woman says. "A dual candidate, Pride and Sloth." she says. "Honestly it's not something I expect from someone with his personality but I suppose it makes sense based on his file."

"Interesting." the man hums. "Where's this kid from anyway?"

"Catalonia, Spain." the woman answers. "If I'm correct, he and Candace are our only international participants. Adding Luan to the mix, the three of them are our only foreigners." she says.

"Any thoughts about how they'll fare in the boss' game?"

The woman smirks as she brings up Luan's file, glancing over it again. "In my opinion, Luan Delvina has the highest survivability rate between the three of them but who knows? I may be proved wrong."

"Is that so?" the man asks, raising an eyebrow. "You're betting on the artist, huh…" he trails off, glancing back at the screen displaying all of the students in classroom 80-B.

Kasumi makes a comment about registering us in his PDA and the boy nods with a smile and pulls out his PDA.

Valentin beams. "Yes! And por favor, call me Val. I was-"

"Oof!"

Heh?

"O-Ooh, watch out-"

And a second later I'm flat on the ground with Kasumi and what feels like someone else on my back.

"Ow…" I groan, trying and failing to turn my head back to glare at Kasumi. "What the hell, gremlin?"

"Ouch, I'm real sorry!" comes very much not Kasumi's voice.

Valentin helps up the person on top of Kasumi and Kasumi rolls off of me and helps me up.

It's the girl who was thrown in here with Valentin.

Like the rest of us, she seems to have been stripped of all of her accessories and stuffed into a jumpsuit.

The girl is on the taller side and once again, I have to crane my neck up to look at her. She seems to be pretty fit but has somewhat of an abnormal imbalance of muscle between the rest of her body and her arms - although it's like, intense muscle or anything. Her imperial red hair falls just beneath her shoulder blades and two small portions of her hair are styled into small braids that hang in front of her ears. The girl also has some pretty long bangs, most of which is brushed toward the left side of her face, covering her left eye, and curls back towards the right slightly up to her mouth. I assume the deep magenta eye I can see matches the one hidden behind her bangs.

The girl opens her mouth to speak and gets her hair in her mouth. She sputters as she pulls her hair out of her mouth, smiling awkwardly at Kasumi, Valentin, and I. "Sorry." she says. "I just-" the girl pulls her PDA out of her pocket. "I heard introductions being given?"

Kasumi beams and gives the girl her usual introduction.

Unfortunately for my sanity, the girl reciprocates Kasumi's energy: "Howdy! My name's Sasaki Kagaku." she introduces herself cheerfully. "Ultimate Veterinarian Pathologist. It's a pleasure to meet ya!" Sasaki says and scrutinizes the three of us. "Say, you wouldn't have traveled to the outskirts of Brazil recently have you?"

"Sasaki Kagaku, another brat competing for Envy." the woman says. "Although…I have to say, I don't have much confidence that she'll win."

The man peers over her shoulder to glance at the file. "Why? Kagaku some goody goody or something?" he asks.

The woman rolls her eyes. "These twenty-five are here specifically because they're not goody goody's." she says.

"You know what I mean."

The woman smiles and glances back down at Sasaki's file. "...Hm." she shuts the file. "Read for yourself or watch the show."

"Damn, you really don't like bad weather." I say dryly.

Sasaki laughs lightly, "Haha, yeah…"

Kasumi frowns as she looks down at her PDA, confused. "Veterinarian Pathologist?" she asks.

Sasaki's face lights up. "Yes! I study diseases for animals." she says and continues when Kasumi still looks lost. "It's simple really. Well, maybe not whatever is involved in the job but it's great!" Sasaki says with a smile. "Don't think too hard about it. Most of my occupation involves studying the pathology part of the job or whatever; but I'd rather get out and help animals out there in the wild you know?" Sasaki snorts, laughing.

Before Sasaki can say anything else, the TV in the room turns on, filling the screen with a black and white film grain. A scarily familiar voice fills the room:

"Welcome to Hope's Peak Correctional Facility, inmates! Judgment will be passed on you shortly and you will be sentenced accordingly. Upupupupu! I'll see you soon, inmates."

I'd know that laugh anywhere and judging by the looks on the faces of my peers, they recognize it too.

Monokuma.

But, inmates?

Judgment?

Being sentenced?

...What the hell is going on!?

A/N the next part should be the last part of the prologue and then we'll be back on chapter one again :catch:
