F-Pod

Day 2

"Good morning, inmates! It is now 7 AM and that means nighttime is officially over! Ladies, please gather in the living room of F-Pod and do not interfere with my little Guard Monokumas. Gentlemen, please report back to M-Pod and get a good day of rest. God knows you're going to need it, upupupu…pun absolutely intended."

If that's what we have to wake up to from now on I might as well kill somebody now and get my inevitable losing trial over with. I'm going back to sleep-

"Sora get your ass out of bed before the Guard Monokumas-"

"..A...Ass…?"

...No she did not. I did not just hear that.

"Kasu?"

I turn around and sit up on my bed, staring at the youngest occupant of our room. Yukiko looks between Kasumi's and I's horrified expressions in confusion.

Yukiko frowns. "What...what is...ass?"

Kasumi pales and quickly kneels down to Yukiko's height. She grabs Yukiko's shoulders, a desperate look on her face. "Yuki please, please, please, please do not ever say that word again, especially around your dad-"

If Luan doesn't kill anybody while we're separated he's definitely going to kill Kasumi if he ever hears Yukiko say that. I'm in the clear because I can't talk so it's not my fault-

"Ass is bad word?"

"YUKIKO PLEASE!"

I sigh and throw myself back onto my bed. I wonder what Monokuma needs us in the living room of F-Pod for? Usually he gives the motive pretty soon after kidnapping...right? Maybe it's that?

Ugh. I guess there's only one way to find out, though. As instructed by our benevolent overlord, Warden Monokuma, I reluctantly get out of bed. I trudge over to Kasumui and shove a note in her face.

"'Can I brush my teeth first?' No, no you cannot." Kasumi says. "I don't like the idea of being boiled alive and you being...however they decide to punish you. You can do it later." Kasumi says as she scoops Yukiko up into her arms. Kasumi managed to successfully distract the toddler with her stuffed narwhal (I believe its name is Spots today) and she's no longer asking Kasumi about 'ass'. "Now, come on, let's go before the Guard Monokumas show up."

I feel...gross. I didn't get to splash my face or brush my teeth and my hair is even more of a mess than normal. One look around the room tells me that the others are faring just about as well as I am. Most of the girls look delirious and groggy from the sudden wake up call.

Hm...you know, maybe the wake up calls are for the best. Greyface looks like she barely got any sleep and her being a serial killer Headmaster Naegi is trying to reform for some godforsaken reason, it's better than her and her issues stay half-asleep. The Ultimate Bitch is fortunately on the groggy side of things too so fortunately it looks like there's not going to be any early morning bitching from her. Kanna looks a bit worse for wear though...is she oka-?

"It looks like we're all here, even if we're all not here." Juriya says, tapping her head. Ever the professional, the Ultimate Surgeon looks perfectly fine. "Where are the Guard Monokumas?"

Right on cue, a long line of Guard Monokumas march into F-Pod from who knows where and without even sparing us a glance, they disperse into our cells.

I frown as I watch them. What could they possibly be doing? It's not like we have any of our belongings...and I don't think they're giving them to us either because I didn't see any of them carrying anything.

"Hey, Sora," Kasumi calls and I turn towards the sound of her voice. "What do you think-?"

I immediately tune Kasumi out when I see pillows start flying over the second floor balcony.

Huh.

I think I know what the 'motive' is.

My theory is more or less confirmed when a toothbrush comes flying out of one of the rooms and nearly pokes an unsuspecting Yume's eye out.

I pull out my notepad and start writing, my mind racing. I shove the notepad in Kasumi's face, interrupting whatever she was talking about:

How do you think you would fare if you were arrested and sentenced to stay in a real prison?

Kasumi frowns and taps her chin. "Uh…" she looks like she's almost at a loss for words (a miracle if you ask me). "Well, I don't think my fellow prisoners would like me very much." Kasumi says. "And like, I'm a small person. Fast, but small. I would probably get jumped and beaten to death!" she says with a small laugh. "But there's no way of knowing for sure. Why?"

I shake my head and write something else down.

You don't think you would snap from the less than stellar living conditions?

"Nah. I mean, not now, anyway. Most of us had to live in 'less than stellar living conditions' during the Tragedy. I'd be fine in that aspect, at least." Kasumi answers and starts frowning. "Why are you asking me about that?"

I sigh.

I just wanted to make sure. Look at what all of the Guard Monokumas are throwing out of our room. Pillows, blankets, toothbrushes - they're not leaving us with anything.

The familiar announcement tone that's played in almost every school suddenly fills the room of F-Pod and Monokuma's face appears on one of the many monitors in the room. I sigh and pull my notepad back, unable to finish writing down my complete thought process for Kasumi.

"Good morning once again, ladies! This announcement is only being broadcasted to F-Pod. Thought I'd let the guys get their beauty rest before I break the despairingly delicious news to them!" Monokuma cackles. "As you've noticed, my dear Guards are throwing out a number of amenities we - uh, you've decided to call them Hanako and Taro, right? The Guard Monokumas are throwing out all of the amenities that Hanako and Taro and I have so graciously provided to you! Since you brats made us take you earlier than planned and we still don't have Akumakuma and Tenshikuma up and running with our virus, this is going to be both your motive and your punishment." Monokuma says and starts dancing while he explains.

("Is he on something?" Shun wonders out loud.

Nemiko looks at her in confusion. "On...something?" she repeats.

Candace glares at Shun and covers Nemiko's ears. "Nothing, honey. Don't listen to her." she says as Shun smiles apologetically.)

"As you should know, prisoners generally aren't treated the best, especially in America."

"Okay, look, I know it's a shitty place, especially for people like me, but what's with all the digs!?" Candace says and rolls her eyes.

"It's just so much fun to watch you get angry!" Monokuma giggles.

"It's not like Americans don't deserve it." Kaori yawns. "Didn't you guys let a racist, xenophobic criminal be President?"

"Yeah…" Candace sighs. "Carry on."

"As I was saying," Monokuma clears his throat. "Prisoners generally aren't treated the best. And you guys, being criminals and delinquents, deserve the exact same treatment!"

Juriya frowns and yawns (I guess the sudden awakening did have some effect on her). "What exactly are you taking away from us?" she asks. "I see toothbrushes, pillows, and blankets flying, but what else?" Juriya asks, raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?"

"What else are you taking from us?"

"What do you mean?"

"I-" Juriya pinches her nose. "I mean, what are you taking from us?"

"What do you mean?"

"..."

"Upupupupupu! Don't worry, my young criminal, you'll still have your sanitary products. We left you with your toothpaste too - you're just stuck using your finger until you earn enough to get your toothbrush back!" Monokuma laughs.

I frown and pull out my notepad, writing quickly before Monokuma can say anything else. I hand it to Kasumi, motioning for her to read it to Monokuma.

Kasumi frowns and scratches her head as she reads the note to herself. "You have a point…" she mumbles and clears her throat. "Ah, excuse me, Sora has something to say." Kasumi says, waving my notepad around. "'Don't you think this motive is going to be inefficient? We've all lived through the Tragedy - that's when I assume most of us committed these 'sins'. At this point, we're used to living less than comfortable lives.'" she reads off. "'Why would one of us fall for a motive like that?'"

Monokuma laughs, his red eye gleaming. "Oh my dear mute-"

Stupid bear.

"You're forgetting that you all have some very rich classmates." Monokuma reminds us.

At that comment, Kanna and Harumi tense up. Juriya merely crosses her arms. "I hope you aren't counting me in that number. My family may have been better off than most pre-Tragedy but we lost most of it while we were saving lives." she says, shooting a pointed look at Greyface.

The serial killer just grins and shoots Juriya a mockingly superior look.

Monokuma continues, "Some of you were very comfortable during the Tragedy. Some of you got by without too much trouble. Others were...less fortunate." he says darkly. "The less fortunate ones might snap from having to live in similar conditions again. The rich ones aren't used to apocalypse life." Monokuma grins. "Upupupu...which ones will snap first, I wonder?"

Everyone starts glancing at the people around them, fear and suspicion on all of their faces. Hell, even Greyface looks a bit scared.

Kasumi looks at me, nervous but determined. I give her a reassuring smile and return the look. Kasumi already reassured me that these conditions won't phase her and I know they won't phase me either. We won't be the blackened and we have to make damn sure we're not a victim either.

I feel a small hand tug at my arm. "Red, why does everyone look mean?" Yukiko asks, concerned.

Last night, Juriya reassured me that she won't hesitate to break my neck (she actually said she would be very disappointed and annoyed but I digress) if I speak before she says it's okay so all I can do to comfort Yukiko is pat her on the head and smile.

"Oooooh! Spawn of one of Luan Delvina's many sins - my Guard Monokuma's have left one blanket and one pillow for the kid. If I catch anyone else using it, I'll kill you~"

Day 2, six hours until access to A-Wing is lost

Another announcement came along with our lunch - if you can even call it lunch. Compared to the moderately decent food we were served yesterday, today I have gruel on my plate and foul smelling juice in my cup.

Kasumi and Yukiko are away in the dark hall none of us have gone down yet (well, I guess they've gone down it now). Our kidnappers have been gracious enough to not only let Yukiko get a better night of sleep than the rest of us, but they're also giving Yukiko a better meal than what we're getting.

I glance around the room, gauging my classmate's reactions to the meal. Greyface, Yume, and (oddly enough) Nemiko don't seem that bothered by the food. Juriya, Kaori, Candace, and Shun are eating it very slowly and cautiously. As expected, Harumi and Kanna aren't taking it too well.

Kanna, however, still looks worse for wear. Harumi's still bitching as usual but the quirky, bright, and friendly Kanna has been gone since this morning and she's sitting by herself. Kasumi isn't here and I don't have a small child to keep away from Greyface so I decide to go check on her.

Kanna looks up from her untouched plate of gruel when I set my plate down across from hers. She gives me a half-hearted smile. "Sora." Kanna says in greeting. I stare at her with a frown until she sighs. "Don't look at me like that. I'm just tired." Kanna says.

I shake my head and pull out my notepad. Kanna waits for me to finish writing and takes it from me when I finish.

Did something happen last night? You were fine when we all went to bed and now you're acting like a discount Harumi.

Kanna lets out a laugh, the happiest I've seen her since this morning, and shakes her head. "I do apologize for the...disagreeable behavior, I'm just…" her frown returns to her face. "I'm not used to all of this."

I nod, remembering what Monokuma and Taro said when we were first being sentenced.

Kanna frowns. "What about my clothes? I wear them all." she says, still confused. "Is this because I don't go thrifting? I admit, I have been meaning to but it's been hard to get around safely with everything rebuilding and, uh, Remnants of Despair, was it?"

"I - yes, Remnants of Despair. How in the name of Kamikuma do you not know what the Remnants of Despair are called?" Monokuma demands and turns to look fervently between the man and the woman. "You said she wasn't that sheltered!"

The man scoffs. "Okay, so maybe she's a little more sheltered than we thought but that doesn't change the fact that she's guilty as charged!" he insists.

"I don't know much about this whole 'Tragedy' thing." Kanna says, her frown deepening. "I believe Japan was the epicenter of the whole thing, correct? I was...fortunate enough to spend the whole duration of whatever happened in England. My family and I spent the whole thing isolated." she explains. "I wasn't told anything about what was happening outside and when my cousin got fed up with staying inside…" Kanna trails off, a wistful look on her face.

I see. But if she spent all of her time inside for months on end, how was her Gluttony sin fueled?

"But enough about me." Kanna says and puts on a smile. I can't tell if it's genuine or forced. "What about you?"

Me?

Kanna nods "Yes you!" she says, reading the question plastered across my face. "You already know my story, I'm the Ultimate Influencer - everybody knows me!" Kanna says proudly.

...Didn't I already tell this girl I don't know who she is-?

"Tell me anything...tell me about what you did during this Tragedy business." Kanna continues. "I told you I stayed with my family." she says. "What about you?"

...

What…?

...

"IT'S YOUR FAULT! YOU DID THIS!"

"H-He tried to - he tried to kill my brother!"

"AND YOU KILLED MINE!"

"I-I-I-"

"Don't give me that 'I didn't do anything' crap! You doing nothing is exactly what killed him!"

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love what I do and I'm good at it - I wouldn't be here if I wasn't - but there's really nothing to fanboy over. The only reason people know about what I do is because my brother would post pictures of my work on social media. Kaname was that kind of big brother.

"Red?" Yukiko calls, tugging on my sleeve and pulling me out of my thoughts. She looks up at me, a worried look on her face.

I smile and pat her head. "I'm fine, Yukiko."

I frown.

Who was that?

Who...did someone...did someone kill Kaname?

...Did I kill somebody?

Is that what Hanako and Taro wanted me to forget? If I killed somebody? Or if somebody killed my brother?

But what does that have to do with the Mastermind? That memory...surely if the Mastermind was one of us they would have been incredibly angry if I did kill their brother. Why wouldn't they have said something when we first met?

Well, I guess I wouldn't remember if they did say something.

Kaname...I can't remember the last time I saw my brother.

"Ah, Sora? I didn't mean to make you relive any bad memories-" Kanna starts apologetically but I quickly shake my head and start writing on my notepad. "...You're not upset?" she asks.

I shake my head again and continue writing. When I finish, I hand her the notepad and motion for her to read it.

I stayed in a shelter with my family and some other people from my hometown. It was a small group, we didn't let anyone else join us. All of the adults said it was safer that way.

I'm assuming Monokuma is counting some of my 'sins' as the many times we had to defend ourselves against people trying to steal from us or when we wouldn't let other people join our shelter.

Kanna goes silent after she finishes reading, a thoughtful look on her face. Then, she smiles. This one feels more genuine than the last one. "Thank you, Sora. It doesn't seem like much but, if I want to survive this I have to understand what happened while my family was isolated and why I'm here, yes?" she says and returns my notepad to me. "I still can't quite picture what the rest of you went through but that's going to come with time…" Kana trails off, going silent again. Then, she stands up and nods to herself. "Yes…" she mutters and nods again. "Yes, I won't let some bad food get the better of me." Kanna says. "This situation isn't perfect at all and while that is very irksome, I will make it better."

...Huh?

I raise an eyebrow. What is she going to-?

"And I won't let Harumi tap out over some bad food either." Kanna says, determined. "Oh Harumi~!" she calls and skips over to the Ultimate Bitch's table.

Oh.

I want no part of that.

I shrug, brace myself, and start eating the gruel that I'm pretty sure just winked at me.

I wonder what Kanna has planned?

Any thoughts I had about her plan however, are interrupted by a horn right next to my ear.

I jump, nearly breaking my promise to Juriya and screeching.

Nemiko.

The young girl smiles apologetically when she sees the look on my face and pulls out her own notepad, writing quickly.

Since we're in the same boat for now, do you want me to teach you sign language?

Oh, yeah, that would be easier than constantly writing down what I want to say. I can force Kasumi to learn later too.

I nod and smile at Nemiko, reaching out for her notepad and quickly writing something down.

I'm in.

Night 2, 12 hours until access to A-Wing is lost

I...see...an interesting motive. At least I do not have to worry about Yukiko, Monokuma already reassured me that she will be receiving better treatment than the girls.

I wonder...will any of us snap from receiving this kind of treatment?

I will be fine, that much I know. If the food is truly so terrible, going without any is familiar to me anyways, that will not be a struggle. Neither will the lack of proper bedding. Not to mention everything that happened during the Tragedy…

Oh, Miya…

I shake my head, pushing the sad memories out of my head. Now is not the time. I have to evaluate these people...Masaki, Toshiro, and Ryu are the only ones I know anything about.

Looking around at the group I'm stuck with, I think I have a better idea of the more...unstable ones.

Toshiro, despite that sudden burst of anger last night and his odd choice of company (Sting, a Remnant of Despair), seems as though this situation wouldn't phase him. Yes, there's nothing 'cute' about things being taken away from us but the items themselves weren't cute to begin with.

Kensuke and Hitoshi are two sides of a reciprocal coin. A caregiver and a rancher - they're both very mature (Kensuke slightly less so) and are used to having great responsibilities. They will be fine...I think.

Kano, Takeshi, Valentin, Yosuke, and Ryu also seem like they will be perfectly fine. They have very different personalities but they all have one thing in common: maturity. Kano exhibits a level of superiority so he won't succumb to something like this, Takeshi is very polite, Valentin is similar to Kensuke and Hitoshi responsibility wise and he is also very mature, Yosuke is a teenager with an adult's profession, and Ryu...I'm not quite sure but he's exhibited maturity the entire time we've been stuck in this place. It must be the Ultimate Spy thing.

Masaki, Harlequin, and Sting on the other hand…

From what Masaki told me last night, the troubles he endured during the Tragedy are still haunting him. I don't have a lot of faith that he will be able to take living through similar conditions again. I hope he can prove me wrong.

Harlequin and Sting are very different from Masaki but they are Remnants of Despair. They seem slightly more sane than a normal Remnant of Despair, but then again Headmaster Naegi did invite them to attend Hope's Peak so I guess that would already be a given. Still, similar conditions might revert them both to the homicidal maniacs they used to be.

Fingers crossed for Toshiro that that is not the case.

And then there's him.

He could go either way.

"Luan Delvina. We need to talk."

Speak of the damn devil.

I don't turn to look at him. "What?"

Armen sneers. "Always a pleasure." he says sarcastically. "You don't like me." Armen states.

"Is that what being the Ultimate Forensic Expert entails? Pointing out obvious things?" I snap. "What do you want?

"I don't like you either." Armen says. "But, I've been watching you. As an Ultimate Land Artist, whatever that means, you have an eye for noticing things. Observing." he says, a calculating look on his face. "The other two I wished to use in assisting me with solving the mystery of our kidnapping are currently stuck in F-Pod, Inaba and Sugawara. I wished to use their intelligence. You, I desire to use your eyes."

I narrow my eyes. I caught that backhanded comment.

"Why would I help you? It is as you said, I do not like you." I say with a glare. "I do not like you and I have nothing to gain from...assisting you." I say, taking a moment to search for the right words. "You are...evil. I do not wish to be around you and just as I did in Hope's Peak, I do not want you anywhere near my child."

Armen gives me a mirthless smile. "I know." he says as if it were obvious. "But, the faster I solve this mystery the faster you can take your dear daughter home."

I narrow my eyes.

Armen smirks. "If it's any consolation, Delvina, I don't have any plans to kill you. I may be...evil, as you say, but I haven't taken a life yet."

Liar.

"Why should I trust you at your word?" I challenge. "Even if you don't have any plans to kill me, that does not change the fact that you are…" I wave my hand around, gesturing wildly at Armen. "You."

Armen crosses his arms. "I'll tell you why you have nothing to fear from me…" he gives me a once over. "After they serve us this breakfast. Not that I care, but you look extremely malnourished and I don't need one of my tools dropping dead before I'm done using them."

Rec Room

Night 2, 11 hours until access to A-Wing is lost

"So. Talk." I say after Armen leads us to a more secluded area of the Rec Room.

Armen crosses his arms and leans against the wall opposite me. "Very well," he says. "It is clear that you care for your little family very much. I don't know what the situation is with her mother but Yukiko is getting the chance to know and love you, her father. I never got that chance. My parents allegedly hung themselves when I was two years old." Armen reveals. "As such, evil as I may be, I'm not keen on making the child experience the same thing I did." he says and puts on a cruel, mocking smile. "You see how I turned out."

I grit my teeth. I doubt he actually has that kind of compassion for Yukiko, he just wants to 'use my eyes', whatever that means.

"So, what do you say, Luan Delvina? Will you help me help your daughter get out of here?"

I…

I know he's lying. I know he's trying to manipulate me.

But what other option do I have?

"No, I do not want to help you?"

Armen may be an evil sociopath who has most definitely taken a life before, but he's an evil sociopath that solves mysteries for a living and right now he wants to solve this mystery.

I have to get along with him. For now, at least.

"Fine." I say and cross my arms, matching his pose. "I will let you…'use' my eyes. What do you want to know?"

Armen smiles, a superior look on his face. "Good. Let's start with the brats in Class 80-B. What do you know about Kuro Kamiyama, Minato Sakamoto, Kano Hanazaki, and Yuya Tanaguchi?"

Kuro Kamiyama, a.k.a. Ryu. I won't tell Armen the personal things Ryu told me yesterday but I can at least tell him Monokuma's implication at our sentencing was correct.

Minato Sakamoto, a.k.a. Sting. I haven't had the chance to speak with him one on one and I don't think I want to. However, he seems oddly close to Toshiro - a usually bright boy who seems to have a bit of a temper.

Kano Hanazaki, no alias. He's an Ultimate Gamer and as I've seen, he enjoys games. He was there for Toshiro's tantrum yesterday and while he didn't seem to be unfazed by it like Sting and Harlequin were, it almost seemed like he was making note of it.

Yuya Tanaguchi, a.k.a. Harlequin. I've already said that if I kill anyone, it'll be Armen. I'm worried that if Harlequin kills anybody, it'll be me.

Armen smiles and I can practically see the evil glow in his evil black eyes.

"How interesting."

Evil.

Night 2, 14 minutes until access to A-Wing is lost

Seeing as how there's less than fifteen minutes until we no longer have access to A-Wing, I try to amuse myself by watching my classmates.

Masaki, of course, is nowhere to be seen. There's only two places I find the endlessly shivering boy now that we don't have our blankets: outside in the 2nd Wing Yard or covering himself with the beanbags in the Rec Room.

I can't see them either but Armen, Ryu, and Valentin have already shut themselves inside their cells. I don't know what Armen does in there because I'm ninety-nine percent sure that creature doesn't sleep. Ryu just doesn't care for social interaction and Val is eternally tired.

Last I remember, Harlequin and Kensuke are playing some kind of game in the Rec Room and, of course, Yosuke is in the Church.

At a nearby table, Toshiro and Kano and Sting and Hitoshi are having an odd debate on whether or not they're related…going off physical appearances, Sting and Hitoshi look nothing alike but for some reason Sting is insisting that they have the same father. Kano and Toshiro also look

Anyways.

Last but not least, Takeshi is-

I frown.

What on Earth is he doing?

I was watching him out of the corner of my eye while I was looking around and for the past five minutes or so, Takeshi has been pacing back and forth across the 2nd Wing entryway. Every so often he would look up at the hallway's ceiling but why?

"Luan Delvina!" Takeshi suddenly says, turning on his heel and smiling at me.

I guess I'm about to find out why.

"Do you recall exactly what Monokuma said about being in A-Wing when we weren't supposed to?" Takeshi asks.

Um…

"It...It was one of the rules, yes?" I say, trying to think. "Rule number six, I believe."

Takeshi nods and starts pacing again. This time, he starts thinking out loud as he does so. "'Any attempt to stay in A-Wing when your twelve hours are up will result in a punishment befitting of your sin.' is the rule," he says. "meaning that when we have to leave, we're not allowed to stay."

I stay silent, letting him work out whatever is on his mind.

"But, it doesn't say anything about going back in after we've been locked out." Takeshi says and once again looks up at the ceiling of the 2nd Wing.

Wait.

Wait wait wait wait wait.

I stand up, going over to see whatever he's been looking at. "What do you mean by that?" I ask. "What - why - how would we get back into A-Wing?"

Takeshi points up at the ceiling. "By a vent, of course."

"Mallkoj." I breathe out, panic starting to set in.

"Of course there's no way to know for sure that the vent leads to somewhere in A-Wing." Takeshi says with a frown. "Besides, most of us won't be able to reach up there, even with a ladder." he points out.

"...Why are you looking at me like that?" Takeshi asks.

"You are the second tallest person out of all twenty-two of us."

Takeshi bursts out laughing and pats me on the shoulder. "Relax! I know! If I had any plans to even go up there, why would I tell you? Even then, why would I make the comment about having to be tall enough to get up there?" he says with an easy smile. "Rest easy, Luan Delvina. The Tragedy was hard on me as well but I'm not so weak as to go crazy because I'm being forced to live through a simulation of it." Takeshi says, puffing out his chest.

...Hm.

"Takeshi," I say. "May I ask you something?"

Takeshi nods and pulls out his hair tie to redo his little ponytail. "Sure. Hit me." he says.

God he really does look like a girl sometimes - anyways - "Why is it that you refer to everyone by their full...their whole name?" I ask. "You said I may call you by your first name but you still call me Luan Delvina." I point out. "And there was also that...incident in A-Wing."

BREAK

"...Huh?" Takeshi mumbles looking around frantically. He looks up, his eyes widening. "Luan Delvina, get your arms out of the bars right now."

"Wh-What?"

"NOW, Luan!" Takeshi shouts, grabbing me and pulling me away from the cell door with a tug. "Get her away, Sora!"

BREAK

"You just called me Luan - w-which I have no problem with - and you referred to Sora by her given name as well."

Takeshi freezes, his hair in his hands and his hair tie between his teeth. He stares at me with a surprised look on his face. Takeshi stays like that for a minute while I stand there awkwardly before he finishes retying his hair.

"Well," Takeshi finally says. "I suppose...I panicked." he says and taps his chin. "I realized what that alarm and that rumble was signaling and while we all aren't the best of friends, I didn't want you to lose your hands. Sora Sugawara and your little girl included." Takeshi says thoughtfully, like he hadn't ever thought about that incident again. "To both of you, your hands are vital to your talent. And, well, Yukiko Ishihara is a baby compared to the rest of us. I suppose protecting her is just natural, yes?"

I cross my arms. "I...suppose." I agree. "But you did not answer the first part of my q-"

DING DONG BING BONG!

Our attention is drawn towards one of the many monitors in M-Pod. Monokuma appears on the screen. There's a police cap on his head and he's swinging a pair of handcuffs on his arm. "Rise and shine, inmates! It is now 7 AM and that means nighttime is officially over! Gentlemen, please report back to M-Pod and get a good day of rest. Ladies, the door to A-Wing will open in sixty seconds. May M-Pod have sweet, sweet dreams about the crimes they've committed and may F-Pod have a beautiful day of reflecting on the consequences of their actions." he says with that oh-so irritating smile of his and the monitor shuts itself off.

I shake my head and turn back to Takeshi to finish what I was saying but the boy in question is already yawning and stretching.

"I guess that's goodnight, then." Takeshi says with a yawn. "I will see you in the evening. Goodnight, Luan Delvina." he says with a smile and heads off towards his cell.

I sigh and follow after him.

I still find Takeshi incredibly odd but I feel like I understand him a little bit better.

Key word: a little bit.
