Surprise Attack!

"Um.. Master Revali. Master Revali," the voice, was one he hadn't heard before and was calling from outside the divine beast. Link shook Revali's shoulder, the other male stirred and Link sat up to stretch. It was way too early to be up, so what could possibly be going on? "Master Revali please come out quick! If your awake, please!" the other male sounded distressed. Revali quickly hopped out of the nest and dressed before heading out to meet the other rito. "Oh thank the goddess. Kyth is injured, he's at the flight range." Link quickly got up and dressed then, if someone was injured he could offer a few herbs at the very least. He rushed to grab the herbs but left his para-sail near his bag.
"Despite how much it serves him right, I must still go and see the severity," Revali said.
"Wait," Link shouted, he came out fully clothed and with a few medicinal herbs. "These might help." Revali grinned and accepted them before flying off, Link was about to join him when the other rito stopped him. His then remembered where he had seen his Para-sail and breathed a sigh.
"Wait, Master Revali is faster, um.. you should just stay here," the male said, fidgeting a bit. Link couldn't shake the feeling that something fishy was going on.
"Indeed and with Revali gone, that leaves just you and me," the familiar voice had him spinning. What did this guy want now? He didn't really have time to react as the other male grabbed and yanked his hair, he grunted as he was all but dragged back inside of the Divine Beast. Vah Medoh, he mentally tried to reach the beast in his struggle. The resounding screech was all the answer he needed, it shook the whole of the beast and echoed across the expanse. He was certain Revali would hear it but would he come back?
"Kyth, we shouldn't be doing this," the other male said, clearly terrified. Link was surprised at hearing the name, if this guy was Kyth, then the other rito had just sent Revali on a wild cucco chase. Link cried out as he was slammed into a nearby wall, he grit his teeth and desperately wished he had a weapon right then. He panicked when the other male grabbed at his jacket and nearly ripped it open.
"Oh, this is exactly what I should be doing," Kyth whispered, ominously. "All I care about is showing the female her place."
"I am not.." Link began to argue.
"Tch, you expect me to believe that you are the male in the relationship?" Kyth scoffed. "Please, you aren't nearly manly enough, nor would Revali ever allow a weakling the upper hand."
"You mean a weakling like you?" Revali's voice echoed into the space around them and Link breathed a sigh of relief. He watched as a look of sheer disbelief crossed the other male's face, then a look anger.
"Phase two Izi," Kyth suddenly said. Link yelped as talons sunk into his shoulder and the last thing he saw was Revali flapping toward them, only Kyth flew in between. Link desperately wished, he had grabbed his para-glider as the other dragged him high into the sky.
"I'm really sorry about this," Izi said. "But if I don't, he'll.." the other stopped speaking and continued to fly up.

Revali grunted as the Kyth shouldered him into the wall, he ducked as the other male tried to pin him. With quick claw-work he soon had the upper wing, claw met claw allowing him to unbalance his foe. A grounded rito, was a dead rito but he held off on the killing blow and was forced to dodge a blade. He quickly grabbed one Link's swords and charged, the clang of metal on metal resounded in the space. He wasn't precisely in his element but he could work with a sword when necessary. Revali quickly proved to the other just how much more proficient he was, by disarming the other male. It happened quickly, within a few moves and then he had his talons wrapped around the other rito's throat.
"You.. really think.. you have time.. to fight me?" Kyth asked, struggling to be free all the while. "Izi.. will drop him." Revali's eyes widened at that, he looked around spotting the para-sail and soon realized what he had to do. He smacked the other male in the side of the head, with the pummel of Link's blade, knocking him out cold before using his gale to speed toward Izi. He would not let the other rito kill his mate, he just hoped there was enough time to reason with the young trainee. Revali was getting close enough to see the other's tail-feathers but the other male suddenly looked back and panicked. It was a mere instant, when the other male let go of Link and his mate began to fall. He quickly reacted heading into a dive, when he reached Link he wrapped his wings around the other male.
"Grab onto me and hold tight," he whispered. Link nodded and he felt the other wrapping around him. He used his wings to angle them away from Vah Medoh, they were coming dangerously close. He managed to alter their path with a flap of his wings, allowing him more time to adjust their momentum forward. Which he did pulling them up from a straight dive to easily gliding through the air. He breathed easier as he managed to gain altitude and land on top of Vah Medoh. Revali then squeezed Link tightly to his chest, he was immensely glad that his mate was still alive. "If I ever catch you without your para-sail again, I will.."
"Noted," Link said, gasping. He let out a huff and continued to hold the other male close. Link was holding him nearly as tightly, the hylian was shaking like a leaf as well, which told him much about the other male's state. He plucked a bit at Link's ears and he wasn't being gentle this time. "Ow." Link complained.
"Just be grateful it isn't worse," Revali admonished. "I almost lost you today and I won't allow that to happen again, understood?" Link nodded and rubbed the sore ear, it was red and swollen from where he had plucked at it. It would be painful for a few hours, a reminder of what could have happened. Revali pulled Link close again this time preening the other, reminding his mate that he still had affection for the other.
"I'm really sorry, Izi did technically save me earlier though," Link said. "I was going to follow you without my para-sail. I just didn't realize I had left it in my haste to give you those herbs, then Kyth attacked me. I know it sounds like an excuse but that's what happened. Also he wasn't planning on dropping me, he said so when we were flying."
"I noticed, I surprised him and he dropped you anyway," Revali replied. "It doesn't excuse what he did."
"I think he was being threatened," Link defended.
"I know," Revali replied. "But with Izi being the Chief's son, his punishment is out of my wings. We have to tell the chief everything that transpired, he will decide their punishments." Link nodded. "But first hold onto me, tightly." Link nodded and once the other male had complied, Revali flew them around to their little roost. He practically shoved Link within to grab the para-sail, there was not going to be another incident. Revali then grabbed Kyth and tied his wings and talons before dragging the other out. He lifted the other male and waited until Link made his way down, before he followed. As the excitement wore off Revali felt a brief twinge in his wing, he cursed silently. He endured the rising pain until he finally landed, grasping it briefly. He then picked up the troublemaker with his uninjured wing, dropping the other male before the chief. Izi was there looking very guilty, he opened his beak but Revali waved him off as he waited for the Chief.
"Izi told me everything," the chief said. "Including that he dropped your mate, thankfully your mate is fine but I cannot allow something like this to happen again."
"What will you do with him?" Link asked.
"Kyth will be tossed to the mercy of the sea at dawn tomorrow," the chief replied. "To plot to harm another's mate out of jealousy is a dire crime, with dire consequences. Revali, see that my son pulls double shifts, make sure his punishment is severe enough over the next two cycles of the moon."
"Of course, I.. may need a leave of absence for a few days however," Revali regretfully replied. He clutched his wing as he said so, he didn't enjoy the idea that he would be bedridden on the day of Kyth's execution but it couldn't be helped.
"Injured yourself?" the chief asked.
"It's just a small strain I believe," Revali answered.
"Mm, then my son will tend to you and your mate's needs, until you are well enough to fly," the chief said.
"But father," Izi said, softly.
"It is the least you can do for nearly killing another's mate," the chief groused.
"O-of course," Izi relented.
"Is there a healer you could see first?" Link asked. Revali smiled and nodded.
"But what do you mean by first?" Revali asked.
"I can still use the sheikah slate to teleport us both, up to Vah Medoh," Link explained. "But you really should see a healer first, to make sure you didn't break anything." Revali led the way to the healer, they would have to wait until the sun rose completely to be seen. Still they could wait at her business for her. He sat on a bench that was just outside, Izi had followed them he noted.
"Is there any.." Izi began.
"There is something you can do, find me two large Hearty Salmon, some Tabantha wheat and Goat butter," Revali said, handing the other male some rupees to purchase the wheat and goat butter with.
"O-okay would you like me to cook it?" he asked, sounding nervous.
"No, I will cook it," Link said. "And I can teach you how, while I do it?" Link asked as Revali glared at him, the other male was supposed to be at their beck and call. "I mean unless you want him to burn it."
"No, you are right, of course," Revali said. "Can't have him burning anything and learning to cook, is a valuable life lesson that will keep him alive."
"You'll really teach me how to cook?" Izi asked, shyly.
"Yes, he will but don't get too cozy with my mate," Revali threatened.
"O-of course n-not," Izi said, terrified. Revali sighed, he only half worried that the other male would take his mate's kindness, as something more. He heard a feminine yawn and turned to see the female rito had arrived.
"Oh, I heard someone was injured?" the female asked. She didn't wait for him to answer and instead walked into her workspace. "Come inside, come inside." Revali followed her within. "I'm not normally up this early but when the chief calls.. Alright, what hurts?" Revali showed her his wing, she poked and prodded over the area with the most pain. He grunted a few times and she nodded, making her way to a shelf. "You sprained your wing, I want you to stay away from flying for the next five moons." He wanted to argue that he couldn't do that. "And I'm requiring you to wear this sling, as well." Her tone said, that there would be no arguments. She put the sling on him, securing his injured wing in place.
"How am I going to work?" Revali asked.
"You will simply have to have your unit come to you," she said. "Or put someone else in charge, for the time being. If I catch you flying even once before it is fully healed, you will regret it." He sighed, being out of commission for five moons. What was he supposed to do until then? He supposed he could send the chief's son on errands, he stood then.
"Very well," he said.
"Come back after the five moons and I will check it again," She said, sweetly. He nodded and made his way back to Link, who opened the sheikah slate and teleported them both to Vah Medoh. Link then helped him back to their nest, he sighed as the other male fretted over him.
"Revali, Link?" it was Izi. Link went out to meet the other, he heard them speaking but couldn't hear what they were talking about. It was many moments before he got worried, he was about to go out to the tail and see what the two were up to. Just then Link appeared with two plates, he grinned and accepted one.
"What should I tell him to do?" Link asked.
"Tell him to go get my second, Flight Leader Telnoss," Revali said.
"Okay," Link whispered, kissing his beak. The other male then left again, speaking with Izi and then Link returned to cuddle with him. He wrapped his uninjured wing around Link stroking his back, he was rather glad he had the other male here with him still. He preened Link a bit as he waited for his second to arrive, it seemed like a long time before he heard the call.
"Master Revali," Telnoss announced. Revali got up and went out to meet the other male, whom seemed astonished by his current state. "I heard that.. are you alright?"
"I'm fine, as is my mate," Revali affirmed. Telnoss nodded and waited. "I will not be able to fly for five moons, that means you are in charge. When Izi is not here helping us, you must give him difficult tasks, enough for two shifts." Telnoss looked surprised by this, it was clear he hadn't been informed about the situation. "It is his punishment, for being involved in Kyth's plot to kill my mate."
"Understood, I am glad you are both alright," Telnoss said. "I will be sure to keep Izi busy when he is not here, I will relieve him for chow and to assist you. He will have very little room to relax, except for when he sleeps. How long is his punishment for?"
"Two cycles of the moon but I should be back to handle the remainder," he said. The other male nodded at this, he had no doubt that his second in command could handle this.
"Leave everything to me, I shall ensure everything runs smoothly until your return," Telnoss said finally, before flying off. Revali turned to see Link had joined him, he wrapped his uninjured wing around the smaller male and walked back inside to their roost. It was going to be a long five days for certain, what were they going to do with all that time?
