Link grinned at Revali, the other male had no idea what he was planning. It had been three days of him just inventing games and things to do, it wasn't that it was hard, he just really wanted to surprise his rito. Revali had let it slip the other night, that he planned to move all of his things to Vah Medoh and over the course of these three days their room had drastically changed. Vah Medoh had fully incorporated their roost, as Revali called it, into the divine beasts interior. There were also shelves, that had doors they could close and secure everything within as well. It was perfect, they could definitely move the warrior's things in. He just hoped that the other male would be happy, about him going ahead with this on his own that is.
"What are you planning?" Revali asked.
"It's a surprise," Link said. The other male gave him a concerned look, as he grabbed the nearby basket and headed out to the tail. He checked to be sure he had his para-sail, before instructing Izi to bring the basket to Revali's old roost.
"O-okay," The other said, sounding uncertain as he did what he had been told. Link wasn't far behind, gliding down after the trainee. Once there he found another dish box? He hmmed a bit and looked around before opening it. This one seemed to have a drawer for cups and glasses as well as a drawer for plates and a smaller drawer for utensils. There were also more plates here. He collected each of these and packed them into the box where they belonged, then latching and setting the whole thing into the basket. He packed Revali's spare clothes and armor sets into the basket, along with what looked like a repair kit. He wasn't sure if it was for the warrior's bow or for his clothing, maybe it was for both considering the contents. He sealed it up and placed it in the basket. There were a few other items, some wood carvings and what looked like a game board of some kind. He packed them into the basket carefully, looking over everything in the room.
"Do you think he will want these?" he asked, no one in particular.
"He most definitely will, as well as his nest pillows," the voice belonged to Telnoss.
"Hi, okay," Link frowned as he noted, Izi had already taken off with the basket he had been filling.
"I sent him off, give me a moment, I will return with a basket," Telnoss said, Link nodded and carefully pulled down the curtains one by one. He placed them into the basket, when the other male returned. "Revali may notacthappy about this but I'm sure, he will be ecstatic." Link smiled at that, grabbing the nest pillows one at a time and placing them inside. Once the last one was in, he sighed. "Hop in." He nodded and hopped inside the basket. Telnoss lifted the basket into the air and he felt his stomach hit the floor. He did not like the feeling of being carried around through the air. In fact, he hadn't even enjoy the first time in a basket, let alone now with his new fear of being dropped. Thankfully, Telnoss had a very sure grip and easily set him down safely on the Divine Beasts tail. He got out and the other helped him get the basket, into the divine beast where he was certain Revali waited.
Link ducked at the severe look, that the other male tossed him. He wasn't going to apologize for moving Revali's things, the warrior smiled briefly before he finally spoke, "Was this your plan?"
"Perhaps," Link replied. "Surprised?"
"Very," Revali answered. He then sighed a bit, it was clear he was actually upset. "I hope you know that I won't be able to help you unpack all of this, even though it pains me to sit by and do nothing."
"That's fine, I'm sure there are a few things you can help with though," Link teased. Revali smiled at that, he walked over to the basket Izi must have brought it in. He pulled out the game board and handed it to Revali, he then picked out a heavier item to place. Namely the dish box and placed it in the taller shelf at Revali's instruction. He returned Telnoss' basket to him once it was empty, he wasn't quite sure what the other planned to do with the nest pillows but at least they had them. The curtains were used everywhere where someone could sneak a peek, including the lattice wall. He then secured them open with the ties, that way they could still enjoy the daylight.
And so it went with every item that the other male couldn't help with, soon everything was put away and in it's rightful place. Except his things.. He didn't have many but he would definitely have to go back to his parent's old place, to grab those few things that mean so much to him.
"Thank you for this," Revali whispered. Link nodded and hugged the rito, his beloved, he would do anything to lift the other male's spirit's. Besides the warrior just wasn't himself, when he was upset. "Now we just need to move your belongings here." Link chuckled a bit, seems they were thinking along the same lines.
"That will have to wait until you are better," Link admonished.
"Oh?" Revali asked.
"It's a pretty far flight to Hateno," Link replied.
"Hateno? Did you not live in the castle?" Revali questioned.
"No, well.. I did but I only took what I would need for our journey," Link responded. "I.. only took what I needed to the castle and left nothing there. Everything of any sentimental value is in Hateno, things I didn't need to have to save the world."
"I see, then we shall wait until I can fly," the other male finally agreed. "Then I shall take a leave of absence, when I can and we will journey to Hateno." Link held the other male a little tighter, being mindful of his lover's injured wing. Once they packed all of his things, what then will he do with his parents old place? He had planned to move back in after his journey but lately, he had been avoiding the place entirely. Maybe it was time to let the old place go, perhaps another family could find happiness there. After all, it held nothing for him but silence and emptiness. "So Hateno, what made you wish to live there? Is it a because it is far from the castle?"
"No, it was my parent's," he paused, he sat down on the nearby stool. He really wasn't ready for this conversation yet, sure it had been years but the sting of tears in his eyes told him it hadn't been long enough. He heard Revali pulling a second stool close, then he was being pulled into an embrace.
"You haven't spoken much of your parents," Revali whispered.
"I could say the same of you," Link replied, a sad smile on his face.
"True, I have been avoiding it," Revali answered. He seemed to think over for a few moments, almost as though debating what to say next but ultimately sighed. "Fine, I'll tell you a bit about them. My father was a proud rito warrior, the leader, before I took his place. My mother was a messenger, they worked very closely together. Perhaps that is why they fell in love, they had me and I wanted desperately to make my father proud, live up to his standards. He was a hard rito to please, after my mother was lost in a storm. She was out on a routine message delivery, when she was caught in a blizzard and lost her way in Hebra. A scout had found her frozen, on the mountain's peak.
"He had delivered the news to my father that day, that was the day that everything changed. No longer was my father the fun, loving rito I had known as a chick. He became hard and sometimes cruel, focusing more on work than on play. I think he had perhaps blamed himself, for sending her out on the message run. Of course, I will never know. Regardless, in my effort to make him proud, I became a rito warrior myself. I climbed the ranks and then the monsters attacked, my father had joined his men on the field and perished. That was the day that I was made leader, I never did get to find out, if he was proud of me." Revali clicked his beak and Link couldn't help the tears that fell, he couldn't imagine a turn of events like that. Nor could he have guessed how similar their tales were, of course his was different in many ways but still losing a mother at such a young age.
"I.." He shook his head, it was time. "My mother, I didn't get to meet her. I only got to know the woman she was, through the stories my father told of her. She died giving me life, my father tried so hard to raise me on a soldier's salary. We didn't really have much but what we did have was great. I joined the king's army because my father inspired me, he was my hero. He died shortly after in a monster attack, a lynel had breached the fort he was commanding at the time. It happened a few months before I was made Zelda's personal knight." He still felt like his mother's death had been his fault, even though his father had never blamed him, not once. And he was sure they would have been proud of him, that was all that mattered in the end. Then he had met Revali, someone who had such disdain for him in the beginning. Only to fall in love and well.. he smiled at his beloved.
"That's why you are scared," Revali whispered. The other male seemed as though he had finally connected the dots, of course he knew he would have to explain one day. "You have no need to fear something like that and there is no reason to blame yourself either."
"How did you..?" Link began, taken aback.
"It was in your tone," Revali replied, softly. "I'm certain they are both proud of who you have become. I regret not being able to meet them but maybe someday hm?" Link nodded, though he doubted their spirits had hung around. Of course, the other male could be referencing when he.. No, Link would not think about it right now, he should just live in the now with his mate. If he thought about it now, he might never stop the tears rolling down his face and he would probably be super depressed afterwards.
"I think we should go and see the Great Fairy," Link finally said. He was ready to talk with this being and maybe get a boon, he couldn't live in fear. Plus he really wanted to have children, one way or another, something to remind him of his time with Revali. He didn't want this time to be empty or lonely once he was all alone. He wanted to fill it with as many happy memories as he could, so he could look back fondly on those moments. After all, if he didn't live in the now, then he wouldn't really be living would he?
"Are you certain?" Revali asked.
"Yes, I am," Link responded. "I can't live in fear of what tomorrow will bring and I want a family with you." He watched as pink bloomed beneath the other male's feathers. He smiled and kissed the rito's beak, snapping the other out of his stunned state.
"Wow," the other male finally said. He was speechless and Link couldn't help but chuckle, now it all finally made sense. Why he had decided to start a family 100 years in the future and so many other things, that he had questioned. Love is love and wanting a family was just part of that, not just to have one but to create memories that last a lifetime. He wanted to bond, watch their kids grow up and have families of their own. Link knew he wouldn't get another chance to say yes to this, if he waited too long then his mate would miss out on all the things a father shouldn't. He flinched inwardly as that thought crossed his mind, did that mean he was the one willing to play mother after all? He then grinned as he thought about it.
"Also because I'm the one saying we need to visit the Great Fairy, then I shall play the part of mom," Link offered. His beloved smiled at that, he was not prepared for the intense preening afterwards however.
