Jack told Chase of what had happened in the village. All the while, Chase sat silent, listening to the young man with that intense look.
"And why did you come to this village?" The pale man shifted, glancing down.
"I was on a mission… I was supposed to get an ingredient for my mistress."
"Your mistress?"
"Yes, she wanted me to retrieve Heylin Flower for her potions. She said this was the only place that would have it but…" Chase tilted his head.
"Heylin Flower isn't something that can be bought at an apothecary. It has to be specifically grown by someone of power."
Jack looked back up, confusion writ across his face. "It…but then why…."
"Tell me, who is your mistress?"
"Her name is Wuya, she was a great witch before-"
"Before her battle with the Grand Wizard Dashi."
"Yes! How-"
"I do have Heylin Flower, growing in my garden."
"You do?" His eyes lit up, looking more confident in himself and in his mission. Maybe it was a test that Wuya was giving him? To prove he could be a good apprentice? "Could I have some?"
Chase watched the emotions fly across his new guest's face. This youth was so expressive, his appearance was lovely and so much like a fae. It had been so long since he'd had someone cross his path that was so…fascinating.
"If I give you what you are looking for, you will have to fulfill a request of mine."
"Of course, anything!" Chase smiled, a dark and beautiful sight. Jack found himself staring at his mouth before looking away.
"Have a bath and then, have dinner with me."
"Oh, um, okay… I…don't have any other clothes…"
"My servants will take care of that for you." Jack glanced at the tiger that sat beside the bed, almost like a solider at attention. Chase stood, gracefully tucking his hands behind the small of his back.
"I expect you at the table by 8 sharp."
"Yes, sir." Chase bowed and walked out, leaving Jack to the care of Khaing.
