Kasai and Discussions.
The door suddenly hurled open, it came, a rushing Monk clutching onto his prayer beads. Kurobara watched as he sprouted out his chant, "Naumaku san manda bazaradan kan" He shouted it out loudly; thrusting out his hand with his beads tightly clenched into his fists. She had now the backup to be able to do something although small.
Whilst Monk chanted out, her eyes flashed onto her now blue eyes with the familiar blazing orange. A warning to the spirit so to speak, she never attacks spirits unless they attack first. Mai shivered against her side, startled.
The supposedly evil spirit in the ceiling dissipated almost spontaneously at both Monk's and her warnings. Just as it was gone the lights flicker twice before turning fully operational.
Mai exhaled out a loud shaky breath, her eyes that held fear on them were now relieved as they darted over to the calm and collected woman beside her. Their hand reached out to her friends and grabbed hold of it.
Kurobara could not help but flinch at the sudden touch before turning to her, feeling Mai's hand trembling in hers, the spirit appeared to have really shaken her up she thought unhappily. They didn't want her to feel fear but with the job description, both of them had there was nothing that could be done.
Her still glowing eyes narrowed in concern at the brunette, ignoring the two others although still feeling the person she is in love with extremely well much to her bitter annoyance. Her long fingers softly trail onto the top of her friends smaller hands, swirling a pattern on top to soothe her friend.
It worked slowly but surely, Mai's softened brown eyes filled with light and kindness told her that she was thankful. There was no need for her to thank her however, it is what friends do despite her cold demeanour. Monk gave the brunette a look before giving one to her asking if she was okay.
They gave him a subtle nod letting him know that her best friend is okay.
"So... " Monk coughs out "It looks like they've finally started to appear in here too." He remarked, he turned to Kurobara with a thoughtful look on his face "Why are your eyes all glowy again? I didn't see you use your abilities." He asked curiously.
The woman in question let out an annoyed exhale, was that really so important right now? She rolled her orbs in irritation before responding in a half-amused and half-irritated tone of voice. "That may be so, they can be used to give a threatening message across," she replied.
"Why did you not think it would be a beneficial idea to do that from the beginning." Kazuya hissed out loudly at her, cold indigo eyes with a frosty hue to them gave her an icy look. His tone was annoyed on the edge of anger.
Kurobara's whole body shivered subtly at his voice, not out of fear, she did not fear him but mainly shivered at how attractive his voice was and by god did his voice cause unexplained sensations crawl onto her advocate and her stomach. It was a tingling feeling; it was both pleasant and bitterly annoying.
A flash of anger reached inside of her, angry at herself for falling for her boss. "Because Aien, if I did it earlier it might have put an even more risk onto us, threatening a spirit that could attack at any time without any back up would be completely stupid, I may have 'Special' Abilities to protect us it does not mean that I can get it up in time by the time the spirit attacks."
Her now normalised eyes narrowed angrily onto his form, almost baring her teeth at him at his sudden cold tone she hated but loved. An internal war clashed inside of her head, wanting to so much yell at him, angry at herself, annoyed and irritated at how she was in love with this man, but taking it out on him was wrong on she knew that, she knew taking it out on people she cared about was wrong.
Mai who winced at the two had a thought about what happened during the sudden appearance of the spirit. They blanked out hearing Monk almost shout out her name, making them snap out of her thought process with a revelation appearing on her mind. It… the spirit was after him.
"It…" Mai started with clear anxiety plastered onto her ironically ghostly paled face. "It was after Naru!"
"What?"
Kurobara's eyes crawled over her best friend, a realisation dawned onto her, understanding what Mai was trying to say. A flash of concern and worry enveloped into a tight knot in her chest. The ghost was after Kazuya. Her lips crinkled into a small frown as Mai continued to speak with worry.
"That Female spirit! It didn't appear because of this room, it came to attack Naru. Naru is in danger!" she said with earnest and concern over her boss. "I had a dream last night. There were onibi all over the school, and that ghost was one of them. I'm not sure how I know this, but… the moment I saw it I knew it was something terrible! That woman's eyes—those blood-thirsty eyes… they were only looking at Naru!" She cried out, her head relocated burying her face inside of her hands.
Kurobara shifted, moving over to her friend who was worried like she was and pushed them against her chest, letting it lay and fall onto her while wrapping her arms around her in a comforting manner to soothe her friends and her worries on Kazuya's safety after all if the spirit was targeting the person she, unfortunately, loves then they are at serious risk of being attacked.
(Time Skip)
It was now Thursday, Kurobara now changed into better and more comfortable clothing and walked inside of the school, she knew she was a little earlier than usual, to be honest, she could not sleep; more accurately she was too scared to sleep. Nightmares usually plagued her life and it gets to her, she is human after all.
Her blue stylish dr martens clanked onto the ground, heading right to base with an exhausted look on her face. Ever since her realisation that she was, in fact, having feelings for the narcissist Oliver Davis changed everything, she can not deny it anymore because as much as people think of her dense... she wasn't not completely anyways...
This honestly made it both exhilarating and sourly irritating. Her hand reached out to bases door and opened it softly, her eyes drawn on a small bundle of hair, laid upon a desk. It was, of course, her best friend almost fast asleep. Her eyes could not help but soften at the sight, if Kazuya came at this time he would certainly be annoyed at the brunette she thought amusedly.
Kurobara motioned toward Mai, a soft small smile on her face. Should they perhaps wake her up? Although seeing her asleep so peaceful looking caused a familiar feeling of warmth. Her hands shift moving to her hair, shuffling softly trying to wake her up in a kind manner.
"Dummy get up, if Kazuya were to see you like this he would get bothered at you." her gentle voice called out expecting to get her up but unfortunately it did not work. "Alright fine" she started with a sigh "Get some sleep, you'll need it anyways"
There was a sudden knocking sound on the door, two soft taps onto the door "Hello…" Kasai said timidly, her head peeked around the now open door.
Kurobara was surprised that she was here this early, letting out a soft breath as she spoke "Kasai-san.."
The girl glanced at her in surprise, noticing it was in fact Kurobara Akamia, who had been so kind to her, she had the urge to talk to her, or perhaps be friends with this person who looked at her with softened eyes, at first she thought about how cold she looked, her demeanour but in actual fact, she was the opposite, warm.
Kasai's eyes lit up "Are you alone here Akamia-san." she said in a shy voice, entering the room not noticing the brunette with her head down fast asleep beside her. Kurobara shook her head gently before pointing at her friend beside her.
"Not completely alone" she started with amusement "It is just me and Mai I am afraid, I hope you're not disappointed" they added with an almost scoff on her face, eyes narrowing onto the girl before "Is there anything the matter Kasai-san you would not have come here for nothing?"
Kasai's cheeks heated up at that in a faint blush "I was just wondering how the research was going, I did not expect to see you at all." their lips paused at that, lips tugging upwards into a small smile.
"Well I do have a job to do, unfortunately," she said with almost disdain although it was clear that she did not mean it like that, honestly she was both glad and annoyed that she was persuaded into this.
Kasai moved over to take a seat across from Kurobara and the sleeping Mai who now seemed cuddled up to her. They must be really close; thought the ravenette. "Do you not like your job?" she could not help but ask, wondering more about the aura manipulator.
Kurobara's eyebrows raised at that, she thought that she wanted to know how the case was going, not about her. "I thought you would like to know more about how the case is currently doing," they told her with mirth filling up her heterochromia eyes.
"It is not necessarily that I dislike my job but because i feel uncomfortable using my abilities, I was originally persuaded by Mai here, I initially accepted so I could keep her safe as selfish that may be but this line of work is dangerous." she curtly explained, letting out a sigh.
Kasai could not help but admire her, It may seem selfish to her but she was here to keep her friend safe, the sheer loyalty that was shown could not help but make her ache for something like that.
"Akamia-san... " she tried, hesitance in her voice "When I first met you and told me about the fact that you were bullied, how did you ignore them, I know you said that one person makes a difference but…"
"You can call me Kuro there is no need to use my last name Kasai-san" Kurobara interrupted her "Ignoring what people say or do is hard, it will always be difficult to block out what other people say, or may think but when I said having one person there who believes in you it helps and I am sure you can understand that."
"Words always hurt, the term words can't hurt me isn't always true as we like to think, they can cause unforeseen scars on our minds and hearts, for the longest of time I was completely alone, bullied for something I was practically born with, there honestly no point in trying to hide the fact that they hurt me, but at the end of the day Kasai-san they do not know you, the true you, they do not know your heart, they have no right to judge you," she said with a glazed look in her orbs.
"Never listen to the people who belittle you, because they are wrong. I know they are wrong and just so you know that i know you are not the culprit"
Kasai could not help but feel tears crawl on the outline of her eyes, the sheer warmth Kurobara said in her words made a weight almost lift off her shoulders, it was as if she lifted the weight off with her own hands.
Kurobara noticed automatically that Kasai's eyes were wet and dreary with fresh tears, with a soft exhale from her lips, she gave a patient smile hoping to ease the woman. She knew what it was like, wanting to hear the words so much herself. They were close to her heart.
"Kasai-san, would you mind being friends with someone like me?"
