Part - II
"Dad?"
"Hi… You are moonwitch"
"I am a what?"
The word moonwitch had danced in his mind for an entire week that followed after. At first, Corazon had assumed that Law had just lost the colour of his eyes. Luffy had never paid much attention to the older boy's eye colour to begin with. He had noticed Law had dark eyes, right now Luffy paid attention and saw Law had grey eyes that looked liked liquid kept in glass bottles. There was a glowing tint in his eyes, a golden fire that kept flickering every time Law frowned or showed anger.
Corazon decided to observe his son while Law delved into his books to understand, what exactly a moonwitch was. His father refused to tell him anything else, but it was evident the magic spell on top of the cliff had changed in its nature, and it had changed Law. Luffy not knowing what to do, sat beside like a guilty puppy and helped close the books that Law chucked out in frustration.
"Luffy stop fidgeting!"
"I am sorry!"
"Stop!"
"I ruined the spell."
"No you didn't. Dad tell him!"
"Yes, kiddo. You didn't ruin the spell. It changed in its nature. It evolved and became stronger. What Law is experiencing is a side effect. Witches have been experiencing spell side effects since the beginning of time."
The word side effects made Luffy bite his lips in attempt to suppress his cries. He looked at Law and Corazon. He turned his face away, feeling more bouts of guilt.
"Good job dad, now he is crying!"
"I am not crying."
"Oooo… You are not? Then why are you not looking at me?"
"There is… dust in my eyes."
"Are you trying to say I didn't dust the hut properly, Luffy!"
"No!"
Luffy turned around and Law cupped his baby face that had a thick layer of herb paste covering his wound. Luffy had stabbed himself under the left eye and bled out, making Law worry sick. The first thing Law had decided to look at after gaining his consciousness was Luffy's face. Corazon had tried to heal the wound with potions and spells, but his father lacked the fineness of a trained witch. Hence, the wound had healed, but the scar would stay. Some witches trained in healing magic that could erase the scariest of the wounds and welts. Law aspired to one of those healers. Law pulled Luffy's forehead to his and bonked it softly.
"One day I will remove this scar."
"NO"
"No?"
"What if it does something to the spell and Law loses his eyesight?"
In his own baby brain, Luffy had given enough thought to the spell and what had happened. He had concluded that the scar was a proof of the existence of a spell and the world of magic.
"I didn't lose my eyesight, it is just a change of colour, and it is like I can see an aura around you and dad."
"Say it again?"
"I think it is aura, I know not if my eyes are playing a trick."
Corazon rushed to his son, instead of reaching his son, the tall man tripped on his own feet and tumbled flat on the wooden floor.
"Damn! You are hopeless!"
"Uncle!"
"I am fine!"
"Are you?"
Law rushed to his father and began pulling his father up. But Corazon pulled his son towards him and looked straight at Law.
"What colour do you see on me and Luffy?"
"You have a purplish black on you, and Luffy has a blood-red web on him."
"Hmmm Traffy you mean like my moonstone?"
"Your what?"
Luffy too joined the duo on the floor and pulled out his pendant from his layers and grinned. His moonstone was no longer milky white. It had turned red like a pomegranate seed.
"Holy mother! When did it happen?"
"I don't know. I found out yesterday when I wore it Traffy!"
"Moonwitch… Dad."
"Yeah, I had doubts, I shouldn't have said the word without thinking when you woke up. But I think it is true. It is a myth, rather there is no registered moonwitch in last four hundered years. The last moonwitch died when the first war with humans happened."
"We don't have a record."
"But what I have learned…. It is that sometimes witches can absorb powers from elements around them. It is rare, but it happens, I met a river witch once, she had absorbed the powers of the local water bodies and hence she could predict when there would be drought or abundance of fishes."
"So… I absorbed the power of Luffy's stone."
"I think so. But you also exchanged a bit of your power with Luffy. I am pretty sure red was your aura, the clairvoyant who had tested you when I found you, told me you were red like a fresh poppy."
"And Luffy is now under my magical protection."
"I am under Traffy's protection? Then Traffy take my locket." Luffy had pushed the red moonstone in Law's hands.
"What no! I can't have it."
"Traffy is my protector! He must wear my moonstone."
"We don't know for sure, Luffy. But I think it is alright for Law to wear it."
"I wish we had more knowledge and histories stored in! Why can't we witches maintain libraries!"
"We have libraries son."
"The academia!"
Law flopped on the floor like his father and rested his head on his father's back. Luffy followed Law's action and rested his head on Corazon's back as well.
"Dad…"
"Umm?"
"I don't want to go to academia!"
"I know! But it has the best education in the world! You have to pretend to be a normal student, for a while."
"How can I hide my magic?"
"Why will Traffy hide his magic?"
"Not hide, he has to pretend he is new to magic like all the boys. Witches start showing powers at 12 or 13, but my boy is special! My boy was born with magic!"
"Traffy is special!"
"No, I am not. Don't put ideas in his head. We have to sort this moonwitch thingy. If I enter academia with the knowledge, it will be easier but…."
"But what Traffy?"
"We need to get you back home before I leave for academia."
"I have no home Traffy. Traffy and uncle are my home."
"Awww…. No! I will not return my Luffy ever! He is my child now!"
"He is not. We know his brothers are out there, and I am sure his village people are alive. I can sense change in the wind."
"Law has your senses amplified?"
"I can smell and feel the magic around better."
"You absorbed some of Luffy's traits too!"
The land was known to have long winters, winter simply loved the mountains in the high north, and it was a guest that always overstayed in the part Law and Corazon lived. For almost ten months since the day the spell got changed, winter in company of magic had protected the three. Law had turned fourteen when winter peaked. They had celebrated his birthday by cuddling beside the fire place and drinking tea and munching on fruit cake that turned into cold fossil. Despite the bone breaking cold, Law was happy that evening. The three climbed onto Law's princess bed, Corazon in the middle and while his two boys hugged his arms under the blanket. Luffy had turned eight, he recalled that he should be eight, but he did not know his born day. Law had decided the day he found Luffy was temporarily, his born day. Luffy had stayed with the witches for fourteen months.
The smell of change came on sixteenth month. Law felt the first flakes of snow melt down the south. He could feel the melting ice and the rejuvenation waiting to explode. With the fading of Winter, came Luffy's heightened need to explore. He was a wolf, a pup who wanted to dig up the wet earth beneath the snow. He wanted to climb the weeping tall trees, he wanted to bite the freshest piece of meat. Luffy complained to Corazon that his jaws ached, Law hearing this provided Luffy with a bundle of dried roots of taro for the boy to gnaw on.
When a few more weeks passed and spring was on the brink of breaking out, Law found Luffy more clingy than he usually was. The pup followed Law everywhere, from bed to bathroom. Even if the eight-year-old was sleepy, he would follow Law and wait for him to attend his business. In bed, the child would hug the teen and tangle their legs like vines on an old building, conjoined for eternity.
"It is a wolf thing." Corazon had informed casually as he waved his occupied hand. He was busy writing a letter to his elder brother.
"Are you writing to uncle Doffy?"
"Yeah. I want to find about Luffy's family and brothers. War is spreading out, I can feel it. Can you?"
The question asked to Law was not in need for an answer, but the witches knew it, the smell around them had changed, there was the smell of gunpowder in the air. Law's uncle had kept sending them updates throughout the long winter. War had broken out between the king and his enemies and the magical creatures. The werewolves and the vampires formed an alliance, the elves had joined after and eventually the fae opened their borders to care for the wounded. The magical creatures had asked for the witches, Corazon's brother and others heeded the call. Yet, Law's uncle Doffy had found no trace of Luffy's family or brothers.
Luffy still knew nothing, every time a letter came, after its task was done, Law and Corazon burned it. Corazon wanted to keep Luffy protected, and he would do anything to protect the pup.
"Can I write a letter too?"
Luffy had tiptoed inside from the garden behind Corazon and barked into his ears. This startled the tall blonde, and he fell on the floor. Law who was busy mending the hem of Luffy's shirt laughed out too but tried to scold his wolf nonetheless.
"Puppy, don't scare dad! And who do you want to write to?"
"Shishsi! Secret!"
"Okay… how about, you spell the word secret first?"
"I know how to spell it!"
"Is it? Show me!"
Law teased Luffy, who didn't know how to spell. In the time they had spent together, Law and Luffy had settled into a routine of teasing and calling each other names. Luffy had settled on calling Law Traffy and Law had decided Luffy was a puppy.
"See you can't! How about you go read your picture book and try not to spook my dad?"
"Okay Traffy."
Luffy began to write properly under Law's careful guidance, but the demand to write his own letter never stopped. After a lot of coaxing, Law found out Luffy wanted to write to his mother. Luffy's father and the other pack leaders were called away from home by the King. His mother and other adults had gone hunting for winter when the attack on the village happened. Luffy was certain, his mother would find him first. Though most of the stories the boy told to Law were about his brothers and friends, Law found out Luffy trusted his mother the most.
Law had never known the love of a mother. He always had a father who tried to be both. But he could see, feel the trust Luffy had for his mother in his heart. Because of their shared spell and magical exchange, Law could feel Luffy's emotions like they were his own. This mutual exchange of magic had lulled the fourteen-year-old into believing that Luffy was okay.
Luffy was curled up beside Law and writing names of family members. Law was still observing Luffy, the things in the manual of werewolf care were not only wrong, they were full of prejudice. Unlike the claims of the book Luffy tried his best not to give into his desires to bite anything, everything his eyes laid on. His canines were forming and reshaping themselves, hence his mouth often felt itchy, and he had the desire to chew on something. The dried taro was working fine. Werewolves also didn't have dark nails or lice in their hair, that department would never happen because Luffy was in Law's care. Werewolves also didn't eat raw meat by compulsion, they preferred the smell of raw meat, but cooked, and roasted meat was just fine.
One thing Law didn't know nor was it written in the misinformed manual that Werewolves clung to people they loved and rubbed against their bodies to mark them as their person. When spring had reached its high noon, Luffy was always hugging and climbing up Law's back and body. When climbing was not enough he would jump on Law, he would hook his arms into Law's and rub his face in Law's chest. After observing these behaviours, Corazon finally came to the conclusion that Law was Luffy's favourite person, hence he kept trying to leave his smell on Law. Luffy was unintentionally marking Law.
"Traffy look!"
Luffy shoved the art in Law's face, Law was so lost in his thoughts when he saw the art work he was confused. Some moments before, Luffy had decided he had studied enough, and now he had to express his creativity. In the paper, Luffy had drawn his entire family and beside what was Luffy, besides a tiny stick figure stood two tall people. One was Law and the other Corazon. Stick figure Luffy was holding stick figure Law's hands.
"Is this us?"
"Yes! Traffy and Corazon are my family too. When mom finds us, I will ask her to take Traffy and Uncle Corazon with us! Our village has so many places."
"I am afraid, that's not how it works. Witches, werewolves, vampires, elves or fae we can't live together. Our magics clash!"
"No! Traffy and Uncle are coming with me."
"Puppy."
"I will take Traffy with me!"
Luffy pulled Law's face and bumped their heads and rubbed their noses. Law didn't understand what the boy was doing. But the child breathed all over Law's face and rubbed his cold nose on Law's cheeks.
"Traffy is mine!"
Though Luffy didn't realize, his fangs broke free, Law saw them for a second before they retracted. He could feel the fear Luffy felt and the desire to bite what was Luffy's. That was the first time Law understood what it meant when people said werewolves were possessive.
Like Law had predicted on the cliff, trouble came to the mountains. The snow had melted, the werewolves he had sniffed before were moving again. The spell worked fine until the day when Law who was stroking his wolf's black hair; suddenly Law found the boy wriggling on the wooden floor in pain. The bite marks left by his brothers were inflamed. Luffy twisted on the floor like a fish without water. The wolf flapped his legs, he was howling in tremendous pain and his hands were clawing on the wooden floor.
The more Law tried to help, the more Luffy tried to crawl away from the witch. Even in his pain, Luffy knew he couldn't hurt Law. Luffy's cries brought inside away Corazon from his chopping duties. The older witch tried to put a mind silencing spell on the wolf, but nothing work. After a long struggle, Luffy began transforming, for the first time Corazon and Law saw a sight that was magical and scary. Luffy had ripped his clothes off, his legs stretched and his fingers morphed. His jaw elongated, and his canines finally broke free. His entire body had become covered in black fur.
Finally, when Luffy's tail began forming, Law was mesmerized. Before him stood a scruffy wolf, not a puppy. Luffy was pitch black! His eyes were red and glowing, his bushy tail wagging happily. This was his first proper transformation.
"Don't you need full moon to transform, huh?"
Law's questioned was answered with the young pup jumping at him. Law lay flat and Luffy sat on his chest and began licking Law's face. Luffy was very happy to show his werewolf form. He no longer needed the full moon to transform!
"Ewww! Go away! I don't want to stink."
Luffy didn't go away, rather he comfortably settled on Law's chest and spent the first evening of his werewolf life by being pat by Law, who despite complaining never to let go of the pup. Corazon who was shell shocked by the event had quietly excused himself to the bed. This was too much information for the witch.
But troubled followed, Luffy's transformation meant, the suppressing spell his brothers had bit into him had been undone. That also meant something had happened to his brothers. Though Luffy did not come to this conclusion, Corazon and Law didn't have the heart to tell him! Luffy's change meant the spell cast by Law on himself and the pup had also changed. The hill was protected from inside, but it was a common knowledge winter magic weakened in spring and vice versa. Despite Law trying to strengthen the wards, nature was changing. The wards wouldn't last for long if external forces came in bunches.
The first bounty hunter that arrived couldn't even step at the foot of the mountain range. The bounty hunter was repealed and found his five days worth of memories lost. But this incident didn't deter him, for this incident assured him that he had met some magical obstacle. Next time he arrived with five people. Those five people found themselves hung upside down from trees a few days later and with their heads fuzzy. Still, human greed didn't know when to stop. The bounty hunter returned each time with more people and devices to tackle the magic.
The day the wards broke, Law was bathing Luffy in his wolf form and giving him a medical checkup. He wanted to understand how the werewolf magic worked. He had counted Luffy's canines and his nails. According to Luffy, he was born different because, in his wolf form, he had two extra toes on his hind legs and forty-four teeth. Luffy's brothers had forty-two teeth and five toes on their fore-feet and four toes on their hind feet. And Luffy reminded Law multiple times that he didn't have nails in his wolf form but claws. Luffy is in possession of extra claws and teeth was a medical curiosity for the future healer.
"Puppy. I have something for you."
"Traffy what?"
"Here."
"That's my cloak."
"Yes. I put a spell on it. I worked hard on this spell."
"What spell?"
"I observed how you tend to become naked when changing forms. I thought in future, when you transform in and out, wouldn't it be handy if you had clothes for your human form with you?"
"Oh"
"Yeah. So dad and I mended it, we did some magical stitching here and there, and I cast a spell. It's white magic, so it will stay with you forever. I mean, since I have the power of the moonstone, it should work on you without pain. Whenever you change the cloak will change too, it will become a chain around your neck and when you are back to your human form, it will revert."
With this, Law placed the cloak on Luffy's body. The cloak shrunk and shrunk and transformed into a red collar around Luffy's neck.
"Traffy! You made me a dog collar!"
"What no! It's a chain!"
"Traffy it looks like a dog collar."
Luffy whined as the place where his collar rested itched. Luffy was in no time possessed by the intense desire to itch his neck out. But his paw stopped midway, when his ears perked up, and he jumped out of the wooden tub.
He stood in front of Law, Luffy's fangs were out, and his tail had gone still. Law wasted no time and slowly walked inside their hut, he gently tapped Luffy's back and asked the wolf to follow him. Luffy followed Law into the hut, but his eyes never moved from the direction he sensed danger to come from.
Corazon had felt it too. He was waiting; he rolled up his selves and guided the boys inside.
"Are they bounty hunters?"
"They are, uncle, it is the same spell."
"Dad, how fast can we ask for back up?"
"I have sent fire message. But I am afraid we are alone. If the bounty hunters have come this far, they definitely have lost their other magical creatures."
"Uncle, do I bite them?"
"Not unless I ask you too."
"Puppy…"
"Listen to me. I know you will disagree. But, in case, dad and I fail. Run the direction the hunters came from, that way they cannot find your magic. If you run in the opposite direction, it is easier to track."
"But…
…it is worst case suggestion. Dad and I are strong."
"We are, little boy, we are."
Corazon pushed Luffy behind him. Law went to the fire place and began flicking his fingers. His father on the other hand moved his hands like he was plucking flowers from a tree. Soon the hut was surrounded by bounty hunters, men clad in clothes that proved they meant no good. Crossbows in their hands and new weapons Corazon had never seen before, yet he sighed.
"It is always crossbows."
Corazon snapped his fingers and bounty hunters found themselves on their knees, their weapons dropped on the ground. The bounty hunters were being swarmed by blue strings. They were being tortured by waves of cacophony that Corazon had plucked from the mountain range for fourteen months and buried in pots under the snow.
"In name of the mother, I return you the voice I borrowed from thee. I free thee, the companion of chaos. I offer you listeners who shall appreciate thy melody of discord. I release thee."
Noise like melody travelled far and wide. Every curse word ever uttered, every word of affection ever said, all travelled the world and went to a place that was in-between magic and reality. The mountains preserved the unheard echoes of anguished souls and the laments of lovers lost, life cut short or heart too hurt or a mind too broke. They all settled in the mountains, waiting patiently for an ear to hear them. Corazon had just offered the cacophony pairs of ears. He knew what he had unleashed, but he spared the boys from the details of the spell he cast.
But Luffy and Law understood, it was a very scary spell. The first batch of hunters had either passed out of pain caused by bleeding ear drums, or were crying and begging for mercy. They had never met a witch who could wipe out an entire group of trained hunters. The humans had come to the mountains in hope of catching a witch, witches were the most expensive hunts, werewolves were the easiest to catch because they moved in packs, they always had a child or an ailing mother or a weak father or a grandmother to protect and willingly let themselves be enslaved. Vampires had mates, hence they would do anything to protect their loved ones. But witches, were solitary, blackmail or threat didn't work. Witches if caught would kill themselves, if they didn't, they barely bent. Bounty hunters avoided witches because they didn't yield the money worth the struggle, despite huge bounty. But all these changed when the werewolves captured almost two years back suddenly went rouge in battlefield. They had meticulously planned their own war with the vampires as allies. The vampires turned on their enslavers and werewolves bit and clawed and maimed themselves out of their chains, years of human atrocities finally made them willing to pay the price of losing their dear ones.
Witches, who were left alone, suddenly became the demand of war, but the infamous witch coven joined the werewolves and vampires. When the fae opened the door for the wounded, humans learnt they had lost the war. But that never stopped their greed. If they couldn't have something, they would destroy it. The king was fighting for his throne, the enemies wanted his throne, but the war was being battled by the magical creatures who had never wanted anything from the humans. The king wanted an elemental witch, rare of the rarest. The clairvoyant tied up in the tower of King's castle had pointed north. But the bounty hunters had never met one, so they didn't know what to expect.
Corazon had been born with magic that was synced with the tunes of the world. He always told Law he sensed his magic and he heard him crying in the dumpster. Actually, he had sensed no magic. He didn't even know if the child had magical traits when he picked him up. He heard a tiny heartbeat that was growing fainter by the second. He had fished out the baby and wrapped him in his jacket.
Right now, Corazon was the most powerful witch the bounty hunters had ever seen. But he was not an elemental witch, the elemental witch was sitting inside cheering for his father.
"I told you dad was cool."
When the second batch of came bounty hunters came, Corazon had stomped them with cacophony. The third and fourth batch followed, they had learned from their peers and shoved their ears with whatever materials they had.
"Time to take over."
Law didn't step out, he pulled his werewolf in a hug and bumped their foreheads. Law clutched the moonstone around his neck and began chanting.
"In the name of the mother, I offer these ignorant children of yours, to their soul the gift of humility. From dust they came, to dust they shall go. Protect this ignorant child of yours, for he holds a piece of my wicked heart within him."
While his father believed in channelling energies to cast spells, Law preferred to call his spells gifts. Gifts inherently meant good will. Corazon had taught him since the tiny age that words had power and love was the greatest source of power to fuel any magic.
Law kissed Luffy's forehead, and the ashes from the fireplace began travelling out of the hut. Soon, each bounty hunter was lifted in the air by little tornados of ashes. While Corazon's victims bleed and yelled, Law's enemies were crushed, when they fell on the ground, they had lost everything. Like ships on hide tide, he raised them and flung them down the mountain.
"Something smells rotten, Traffy. Uncle be careful."
The final batch of bounty hunters didn't get a chance to step inside the boundaries of Corazon's homestead, Luffy had sensed them and sprinted out, and he had smelled something magical, which was clearly revolting. He had a feeling this revolting smell was meant to hurt Law and Corazon. So the black wolf dashed out and chewed off ten pairs of hands even before they could release the contents of their bags. Blood was spilled and crying noised followed.
Yet this was Luffy's first time when he had faced an enemy, he knew not how to control his rage. Next moment he was consumed by bloodlust and anger. Young wolves were always trained by older wolves to cultivate their bloodlust and anger in harmless way. He never got his training. The thought of Law and Corazon getting hurt made Luffy howl in anger. Luffy was always angry about what happened to his village. He could never forgive himself for being a weak pup. Luffy growled and bared his fangs at anything that moved or whimpered. He could not lose Law and Corazon, he loved them. They were his family. Luffy howled again! Law had never heard such a scary, fierce howl, Law was feeling what Luffy was feeling; it was rage born of helplessness. Being a moonwitch meant, Law was Luffy's shield. Law's powers had yet to reach maturity, the moon was hidden in the cloud he still knew not how to control the wolf, he could chop and hack and suffocate enemies, but how did a witch protect his wolf.
"Luffy calm down"
Corazon rushed out, but he tripped on the body of fainted bounty hunter.
Luffy began biting away every human hand he saw, though the bounty hunters were no longer able to fight them, they were enemy. Luffy spared no one as he rampaged on, chewing away arms and flinging them away, the more he saw, the angrier he got. Law helplessly looked on until a sentence from Luffy's stories resurfaced in his head.
"Traffy! Traffy!"
"What?"
"Village chief said we werewolves can lose our minds to anger!"
"So, how do I calm an angry werewolf?"
"When a wolf is angry, they are hurting in their heart, they need to be loved. So the village chief says, we ought to throw a cloth on the angry wolf and hug them and call their name. That's how it changes."
"Oh…"
Law rushed and grabbed the blanket he and Luffy had been sharing for all these months. He flicked his fingers, the blanket unruffled and left the hut first Law followed after.
"Dad, stay where you are! Let me help Luffy."
"Sure…"
After chasing Luffy for a few minutes, the blanket wrapped itself around Luffy. Tightly it embraced Luffy. Law jumped towards his wolf and hugged him.
"Luffy… calm down."
"Luffy, I am here."
"Luffy…"
"Luffy, come back to me."
"Luffy, we love you. I love you. Dad loves you. Your brothers love you."
Law didn't let go of the whimpering werewolf in his arms. In his wolf form, Luffy was huge and frightening, but Law was not afraid of him. He could feel the pup's breathing even out. He could feel Luffy's heart feeling lighter.
"You dumb wolf! I can smell horse blood too. Horse blood is not going to harm me, it is a misinformation like silver. It is the smell that makes us revolt, but other than that nothing happens. I should've trained you in various identifying blood by their smell."
Finally, after hearing Law laugh, Luffy transformed back to his human form and his red collar turned into a cloak to hide his modesty. Luffy hugged Law with all his might and passed out.
In the dawn, the second werewolf arrived to look for Luffy in Corazon the terrible witch's homestead. Just like Luffy had said, it was his mother who would find him. Corazon was transporting the unconscious bounty hunters by their neck when the smell of a new wolf hit his sharp nose.
"Do you need a help?" The woman had asked.
"Yes please."
They didn't talk until all the bounty hunters were sent down the path they came. In silence, they chucked one person after another, when the final bounty hunter went rolling down, Corazon grinned at the woman.
"May I invite you for a cup of tea?"
"Yes please! I am thirsty."
Luffy's mom had the same jet black hair and dark eyes like his, she was a small woman with brown skin that had been sunburned and scarred by the days spent in the war zone. She stepped inside the door and her eyes immediately followed the princess bed where the son she came looking for was deep asleep. Her child was hugging an older boy. Her eyes welled up with tears as she put her palm to her lips and bit herself, she wanted to wake him up, but stopped herself.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. He is safe."
"I have been looking all over for him! His stupid brothers had suppressed his smell! It is a forbidden spell that can damage both parties. But I am glad he was safe because of it."
"My son found him, we tried to look for you. But as you can see, our priority was to keep ourselves hidden, we couldn't venture out to look for you all. I am sorry."
"No! No! Thank you for keeping my boy safe."
"Is the war over? My brother hasn't written to me in weeks. I had asked him to search for you."
"He is safe, he tracked us down. It was hard to find us because my other two children were using different alias. My husband overheard your brother last week, when was asking around for a kid named Luffy's parents or brothers. We spoke in private, he gave me the direction. I almost didn't make it here and returned until I heard him howl. That howl was full of pain. So I rushed, but then I saw the bounty hunters rolling down the path, and I realized he was safe. And yes, the war is almost over. It is not an easy win; a lot of magical blood has been shed."
Corazon sighed. He was relieved that his brother was safe.
"I assume you want to take him back to the village right now. Isn't it strange how these little menace become so important to us that we are willing to lose it all."
"I want to wake him up and gobble him to keep him safe."
"I relate to that."
"By the way I am Monkey D Luna."
"I am Corazon, and the boy Luffy is hugging right now is my son, Law."
"They have bonded well."
"They have done more than bonding."
"I am sorry?"
"Ahh… It is a bit hard to explain, but we had to cast a spell and there was an accident, so my son absorbed the power of moonstone and they both exchanged a bit of their magic."
"Oh…" Luna nodded like it was not a big deal.
"Oh?"
"You know how vampires have mates and you witches have familiar or shadows as companions?"
"Yeah."
"We werewolves tend to bite and transfer power into our partners and consume some of our partner's powers. That way we are connected. So I am assuming the spell did something similar. Did by any chance Luffy bite Law when the spell was being cast?"
"He did!"
"Honestly they are too young to understand what they did, I think as adults we should let them be. But I welcome you to our caves, we can study the old texts to fix this."
"My son would love to read inside dark caves! But he might want to solve this spell problem on his own. Can we accompany you though?"
"Yes of course, it would be great to get help from witches to be honest. Our village was burned to the ground."
"Can you give the coordinates of the village?"
"Right now…?"
"Yes."
Corazon studied the arrangement of the numbers for almost an hour, he plucked blue strings from the air and clapped them between the palms. Luna didn't feel anything, but Law woke up. Like his father he was attuned to magic, a slight change in magical pressure, and he would jump up.
"What did you do, dad?"
"Oh, say hello to Luffy's maa!"
