Chapters 4: Some Answers
Disclaimer: I don't own either of the franchises. All characters belong to either Type-Moon or Marvel.
TigerWarrior1998: Thanks for coming back and leaving a review. I promise that I'll create a new paragraph when different characters start to speak.
Epantoja521: Honestly, I'm sure that Dr. Strange wouldn't like the mage's association because of all the things the association lets happen, but it really depends on which universe it's in for Dr. Strange to do anything. If mage's association were placed in the Marvel universe then Dr. Strange would absolutely dismantle the association. But if Dr. Strange was placed within the fate universe than he might not be able to dismantle the association because of how widespread the organization is and possibly try to change the association.
When Dr. Strange had told the group of this universe about the cause of the unknown energy signature that was detected, they were all left shocked? They couldn't even begin to imagine the power needed to destroy a universe let alone an entire multiverse. However, the two lease-experienced members of the group couldn't fully understand everything that was being told, and it led to one of them asking a question.
"So, does that mean Dr. Strange comes from a different universe?" asked Mash.
When hearing this question Dr. Romani was going to try and give an answer but before he could someone else answer before him "Well, if we are to believe the good doctors' words than he is from a different universe but he's not from a our multiverse."
From behind Dr. Romani came a new person that looked to be female. She wore a colorful tunic on top of a short red skirt and blue leggings. On her left arm was a mechanized gauntlet which held within its fingers a staff. However, her appearance was the most interesting part about her because she looked completely identical to the painting of Mona Lisa.
Dr. Romani seems to be familiar with this new individual however her presents here seem to be quite unexpected "Aahhh, De Vinci what are you doing here?"
"Clam down Romani. The staff and I were able to repair Chaldea just enough that the critical systems are back up and running again. So, I thought that I could drop by and see how everything up here was doing. I didn't intend to do anything but watch but when I heard about your conversation, I couldn't help but jump in." Reassured the now named De Vinci
Gaining the attention of everyone, De Vinci introduced herself. "Hello everyone, for those who don't know me, I am the first servant summoned by Chaldea, the great genius known as Leonardo De Vinci. It's so nice to meet everyone, especially you Dr. Strange."
Both Dr. Strange and Ritsuka gave De Vinci the most astonishing faces. For there was one problem that they could not wrap their heads around.
"Excuse me Leonardo De Vinci, I don't want to be rude but, wasn't Leonardo De Vinci recorded to have been a male?" ask the confused Dr. Strange
"That's true but, when I was summoned as a servant, I wanted to look like this, so I chose to be in this form." Answered De Vinci
While the answer given by De Vinci seemed to answer Dr. Strange's question, it only made Ritsuka even more confused than he already was. But Ritsuka decides to ignore that for now and ask De Vinci a question. "De Vinci what is the difference between a universe and a multiverse?"
Seemingly thinking of a way to answer this question Leonardo De Vinci suddenly pulled out a diagram and began explaining. "Try to imagine this circle as our multiverse and it contains inside of it smaller circles which represent universes. all the universes in our multiverse are in some way different from each other, but they all follow the same set of rules. But a different multiverse would have its own set of universes, which all follow different rules compared to our own multiverse."
"But if it's true that Dr. Strange comes from a different multiverse then how did he get here?" ask director Olga
"I suspect that it had something to do with the energy signature that we detect, but it's hard to imagine anything powerful enough to wipe out an entire multiverse. I want to ask more questions, but we have more important things to do right now." Answered De Vinci while nudging Dr. Romani.
De Vinci's action prompts Dr. Romani to grab the attention of Dr. Strange. "Dr. Strange I'm really sorry about what happened to your multiverse, but we also have our own problems. I'm sure that up till now you have been a bit confused with everything that's happened in this city. So, I will try to explain everything that's happened so far."
Dr. Romani begins to tell the sorcerer supreme about all the events that led up to this point. He told Strange about the reason for the creation of Chaldea, and the sudden disappearance of humanity's future. Dr. Romani told him about the Rayshift project and explained the concept between masters and servants. Finally, Dr. Romani told Dr. Strange about the incident that took place in Chaldea.
After listening and learning about all that had happened Dr. Strange took a moment to carefully process everything before speaking. "I see so, the future of humanity has disappeared, and your organization believes that the source that caused it comes from the past."
"Yes and because of that we would like to make a request." Ask Dr. Romani
Before being able to continue, Romani was Interrupted by Director Olga. "Wait!? Romani who gave you the authority to make that decision. As the director of Chaldea, it is my responsibility to make those decisions."
"Look Dr. Strange I know that whatever happens in this world has nothing to do with you, but will you help us save are world? With how things are now there is a high chance that Chaldea may not be able to save humanity but with your help we might be able to." pleaded director Olga while bowing her head.
Without any hesitation Dr. Strange answered "Even if this world isn't my own, I can't just leave it to be destroyed. Director Olga, you have my word as the sorcerer supreme that I will do everything in my power to help save your world."
"T-thankyou Dr. Strange your help is greatly appreciated, and I promise you that Chaldea will do everything in its power to help you in any way that we can." Replied a grateful director Olga
Suddenly, De Vinci decided to speak again. "I hate to interrupt but we still have no idea where the holy grail is located. So, you all should start looking."
"Well, you guys are in luck because I know where the holy grail is." Said Caster
While you would expect the group to feel relief with this news from Caster and they very much were. At least one member of the group was very frustrated about it.
"You knew this whole time and you didn't bother to tell us" Blurted director Olga
"I was going to tell you all when we first met but, then we had to go look for the energy you had all detected. But why are you so worked up about this." Replied Caster
Sounding defeated, director Olga answered "This whole time I've been trying to figure out where the holy grail would be located. I've even pinpointed several locations that I thought that it would be. But now all that work was for nothing."
While the director was sulking over the fact that some of her hard work was done for nothing and Mash trying to cheer her up, Dr. Strange decided to ask the obvious question "So then Caster where is the holy grail located?"
"It's in a cave located near the temple southwest of here. Do you think you can get us over there doc?" said Caster
"I did see a temple when I was flying over the city so I should be able to open a portal near its location." Reassured Dr. Strange.
"Alright then you all should head over to the temple and get the holy grail. I wish I could stick around to help but I need to head back and help the staff bring Chaldea back to a hundred percent. So, I'll see you all later." Said De Vinci while leaving
With that the group that comprises heroes from two worlds set off to the temple to confront the servant behind these events and get the grail.
When arriving near the temple, the group had continued on foot to the cave where the holy grail is located. However, during the walk towards the cave those from Chaldea decided to take the time to learn more about Dr. Strange and his universe.
"Dr. Strange I've been wondering about something since there is a title of sorcerer supreme in your universe. Is it safe to assume that there is a magic organization with other sorcerers? If there are other sorcerers, then can they use magic as powerful as your magic?" ask director Olga
"Your assumption is right, there are other sorcerers but there isn't a magic organization that maintains the magical community and not many sorcerers can use powerful magic without consequences. However, those that can use powerful magic have been able to threaten the planet with their power." Replied Dr. Strange
When listening to everything Dr. Strange had just said, director Olga couldn't believe the disorder of his world. "Wait if that's true then what to stop other sorcerers from doing whatever they want without an organization like the Mage's Association? I understand that you're powerful but what if your enemies work together and try to overpower you?"
"All sorcerers in my universe follow a set of rules and if they break them then they may be judged by beings of a higher order. Also, my enemies have at different times worked together to try to destroy me and they nearly did it at different times. But luckily for me, I'm not the Earths only protector. In my universe we have heroes that help deal with many different threats whether they be small or big and many of those heroes are willing to help if you ask for them." Answered Dr. Strange.
Everyone from Chaldea couldn't help but be surprised with everything they were hearing, especially Ritsuka. To Ritsuka the universe that Dr. Strange had described was like one that could only be found in a comic book, and this led him to ask a question that may have seemed childish to other members of his group. "Dr. Strange are those heroes like superheroes."
As expected, Ritsuka's question only seemed to annoy a certain director. "Don't be ridiculous Fujimaru, Dr. Strange must be talking about people who work in special groups or governments to solve problems like the enforcers of the Mage's Association."
Much to the amusement of everyone else in the group, director Olga continued to try to lecture Ritsuka about how they couldn't be superheroes. Dr. Strange himself couldn't help but let out a soft smile before interrupting director Olga. "Actually, Fujimaru is right, they are superheroes and most of them don't work for government groups."
With this new bit of information, Ritsuka was in awe with the idea of real superheroes, while director Olga started asking even more questions. "Wait really! Then wouldn't different governments and organizations try to arrest all the heroes?"
However when asked this question Dr. Strange didn't immediately give a answer. he seemed to think carefully about the question before answering. "They've tried, but it's complicated. In my universe it's not so easy for governments to go after superheroes. The superheroes won't hesitate to fight back if they see that governments are going after other heroes when they did nothing wrong, while some heroes would also side with the governments, and that could lead to a civil war between the superheroes. If that were to happen, then it could leave the world in ruins."
When Dr. Romani heard this, he had a few questions that he just had to ask. "Dr. Strange, does that mean that the age of heroes in your universe has yet to end and do all heroes use magic?"
"I think the gods in are universe call my age the second age of heroes and no, not all heroes in my universe use magic. Some heroes gain their powers from technology and science, while others get their powers from evolution and some heroes don't have superpowers." Answer Dr. Strange.
The idea of people becoming superheroes and working outside of the government was interesting for those from Chaldea. But unfortunately, they couldn't ask more questions because now they had arrived at the cave entrance and had to focus on their mission. But, before they could even continue, a familiar present was felt by the servants that put them on guard. The Archer servant had appeared at a cliff behind the group.
As Dr. Strange was preparing to cast a spell, he was suddenly stopped by Caster. "Don't waste your power and go get the holy grail, while I deal with Archer."
"But Caster, we can help you." argue Ritsuka.
But was quickly denied by Caster. "Trust me you're going to need everything you have to beat Saber, so just get going. Plus, Archer and I have some unfinished business that we need to settle."
Unable to say anything else, the rest of the group ran into the cave while a battle took place behind them. But when they could no longer see the cave entrance Dr. Strange had stopped the group. "Before we go any further, I need to ask you all if you know the name of the servant that we're going to face?"
"Caster told me that Saber is king Arthur." Answered Director Olga
Dr. Strange was visibly shocked at this and began trying to devise a plan against the legendary King Arthur but stopped when he saw Mash. "Mash, is there something wrong?"
"I just don't think that I'll be any help when fighting Saber, when I can't even use my noble phantasm." Said Mash
When hearing this Ritsuka was the first to encourage her. "Mash just because you can't use your noble phantasm doesn't mean you haven't been helping us. Don't forget that you saved both the director and I when we would have been killed by the enemies and you were a big help in the fight with Berserker. Remember Mash you're not alone, I'll always be there to support you and not just me but the director and Dr. Strange as well."
"Fujimaru's right you've been nothing but helpful, so don't lose confidence now." Added director Olga
Despite still feeling uncertain, the support from her friends seem to encourage Mash enough to regain enough of her confidence to move forward. So, the group started to travel further through the cave until they found themselves inside an enormous room. It is here that they can finally see the holy grail but standing between them and the grail was Saber ready to fight with her blade in hand.
Finally, the final battle will soon begin. Will Chaldea be able to defeat King Arthur and retrieve the holy grail with the help of Dr. Strange. Or will King Arthur prove to be too much for our heroes. The answer to these questions will soon be revealed to us all.
Wait what's happening? A dark present has suddenly appeared but it's not do anything. Is it also watching this new world? Wait, it looks at me now, does it see me? Why does this present feel familiar. No, no it can't be him? He's not supposed to be here. If he has taken an interest in this world than that universe; no that entire multiverse will be in far greater danger than it already was.
A/N: Hello everyone, what do you all think about the dark present that appeared at the end. I would like to hear your guests on who you think it is. Also, I decided to introduce Leonardo De Vinci a little earlier than the canon story and I hope that you all don't mind but I plan to skip the battle between Caster and Archer because I don't have anything to add to that battle. I'm sorry that there's no action in this chapter, but I promise that the next chapter will have a lot more action.
