Welcome back to another chapter. I kinda went into overdrive on this one. In fact, I had this one ready for a good while now, but I wanted to wait a few more chapters before releasing this one. Unfortunately I'm having a case of a creative block, along with dealing some other problems involving a friend of mine. Suffice to say, I have not been having much of a good month. I'm hoping that'll change, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I guess it's now time for Uni and BlackTerriermon to have a turn at the spotlight, along with an unexpected visitor. But just who could it be? I'm sure some of you might have figured it out already, but for those that haven't, you might be in for a treat.

On another note, this chapter might get a bit heavy with a chance of feels, so just a heads up. With that said, I hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon or the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Both franchises belong to their respective companies.

Chapter 31: Black Souls

It had been a single day since they had entered the Digital World. Both Uni and BlackTerriermon haven't gotten any closer to finding their friends. They had been traveling the desert for a long time. They only stopped to cool off and rest during the night, and when dawn arrived, they marched on once more. They were lucky that it was not the summer season.

Nevertheless, the lack of water and food around them made things difficult for the pair. The only thing they had was a canteen of water and a bag of trail mix in her pocket that Uni packed with her. To make matters worse, a dust storm was now blowing sand and dirt all around them. It was hard to see the way forward, and the noise from the wind made it hard to hear. They had shielded their eyes and mouths from the dirt blowing at their faces, so as not to be blinded or choke on the sand and dirt.

"Can you see anything?", asked Uni loudly.

"Nope! I can't even see my own paw!", said BlackTerriermon.

"Ack! I'm getting dirt in my hair!", exclaimed the Lastation Candidate.

"Speak up! I've got sand in my ears!", shouted the black rabbit Digimon.

The pair kept on walking, not sure of where they were going anymore. They did not know how long it'll be until the dust storm would clear up. But as long as they kept going straight, the two of them felt that they'll reach a sort of civilization. Uni could only hope that they had a nice bath waiting for her so that she could get all the sand and dirt off of her hair and body.

They marched on for a few more minutes, nearly blinded by increasing amount of flying dirt flowing around. It was a tough slog, but both Uni and BlackTerriermon were determined not to let anything stop them. Suddenly, their view started to change. The howling winds were starting to make less noise, and there was less sand and dirt blowing at them. This could only mean one thing.

"Hey, I think the dust storm is clearing up", shouted Uni.

"It's about time! I was afraid I would be having a sandwich for lunch, and not the good kind", BlackTerriermon replied.

Soon the dust storm started to clear up, and the path they were traveling was becoming more clear. When the storm finally cleared, the pair had a look of shock on their faces. Both of them looked beneath their feet and saw that they were standing on the edge of a cliff!

"Aaahhh!", they exclaimed.

Both Uni and BlackTerriermon stumbled backwards, afraid of falling off of the cliff's edge. They were not expecting to run into such an obstacle. The pair was thankful that the dust storm had cleared up when it did. Otherwise, they would've walked straight off and plummet into certain disaster. The Lastation Candidate and the black rabbit Digimon sighed in relief as they picked themselves back up.

"That was way too close...", said Uni.

"Yeah... Hm?", said BlackTerriermon.

"What is it?", Uni asked her partner.

BlackTerriermon then took another look at the cliff's edge and the expression on his face turned from surprise to excitement.

"Hey, I know where we are! Look!", he exclaimed.

Upon closer examination, the pair could see another tall cliff face from afar. Looking around they saw that the area they were overlooking was a canyon. It even seemed that each side of the canyon had a slope that was just enough for someone or something to slowly traverse. While the raven haired girl was amazed by the sight, BlackTerriermon was jumping up and down in excitement.

"We're near my home village!", the black rabbit Digimon said.

"Really? You lived in this canyon?", Uni asked.

"Yeah! And look! I can see the village from here!", BlackTerriermon replied.

He pointed to a location at the bottom of the canyon. Staring down at the spot, Uni could make out a patch of what looked like small buildings made of adobe and wood. She was amazed that they were able to find the village. However she felt there was something foreboding about how it looked, but she couldn't get a good view of it from their current position.

"Let's go! I can't wait to get back!", said BlackTerriermon.

He was about to rush down the angled slopes of the canyon wall, but Uni stopped him by grabbing his ears. He yelped as he felt his long ears get yanked back. He looked to his partner, wondering why she stopped him, only to have his eyes meet with hers. A look of dread and uneasiness was shown on her face.

"BlackTerriermon... We don't know if anyone is alright, let alone if they're even down there", the Lastation Candidate.

This made the black rabbit Digimon worried, remembering that his village was under attack when he made his escape to Gameindustri. And what Uni said was true. He did not know if anyone was safe, or if there's still anyone at all. It made him grow more anxious, however, and the very thoughts gave him all the more reason to see the state of his home.

"I have to make sure. I can't go until I find out if there's anyone still there", he said.

"Think about this. You may not like what you'll find down there. Are you sure you still want to go?", Uni stated.

BlackTerriermon looked back at the village below and then back to Uni, who just stared back at him with sorrowful eyes. He wanted to trust in her judgement, but the black rabbit Digimon's gut was telling him to go anyway.

"I'm going down there", he said.

He then started to move towards the safest point to move down the canyon. Uni, who just sighed, followed her partner. She could only hope that he could take the truth when the time comes. It would take them some time to navigate the steep slopes of the canyon wall before they can reach the bottom. But they would have to bear with it, as they were in no rush to hurt themselves.

Far away from the pair, on the other side of the canyon, a large figure was watching over them. His body was hard to see due to the sun shining on his back. The only visible part of the silhouette were a pair of red eyes, peering at BlackTerriermon's body. The figure stared at the black rabbit Digimon from afar, as if judging his appearance.

"Hmmm..."

Inside his personal quarters, Sealsdramon was reviewing battle plans and strategies. He was feeling eager to partake in battle for some time. However he had been preoccupied with training his soldiers and other duties that he was assigned by his leader, Analogman.

Ever since he learned that the CPUs and their Digimon had entered the Digital World, he felt that he wanted to make an example of them for defying the D-Brigade's attempts at invading Gameindustri. Their presence in the Digital World would be a hinderance to the D-Brigade's plans. The last thing he and his soldiers needed was a group of fighters trying to bring hope to a world that was on the verge of being conquered. As much as he wanted to, though, Analogman has ordered him not to engage the CPUs, claiming that he was no match for them.

"That fool has no what the D-Brigade is really capable of. But the CPUs will get what's coming to them. All I need is an opportunity...", the elite Digimon thought.

As he was thinking about how he and the D-Brigade could defeat the CPUs and their Digimon, a beeping noise came from his door, indicating that someone was requesting entrance. Seeing nothing better to do, he allowed entry.

"Come", he said.

The door opened, revealing a Commandramon. The grunt Digimon entered the room, saluting to his commanding officer.

"Sir!", said the Commandramon.

"What is it, soldier?", Sealsdramon inquired.

"We have detected some trace amounts of Black Digitron on the move", the grunt Digimon reported.

This caught the elite Digimon's attention. The D-Brigade was having no luck in looking for more Black Digitron. It was quite a rare resource, after all, but it was a necessary one that Analogman had plans for. News like this doesn't come around often, so he wasn't about to let it slip by him.

"Show me the coordinates", Sealsdramon ordered.

The Commandramon complied, walking over to a panel on the wall, then pressed a few keys on a nearby pad. A screen on the panel lit up, revealing a map of the Digital World. Zooming in, the grunt showed the coordinates of where the Black Digitron was located. When Sealsdramon reviewed this information, he recognized the location.

"These are the same coordinates of the mixed Terriermon and Lopmon village we raided a few days ago. And where that one escaped my grasp", he thought.

The elite Digimon could not forget how the black colored Terriermon escaped from him even if he tried. And now he felt that these coordinates were not a coincidence. If the CPUs and their Digimon allies were really in the Digital World, then he knew exactly who would come to such a place. He turned to the Commandramon soldier, who was awaiting for a response.

"Gather your men, and bring in the Tankmons. We're going hunting", said Sealsdramon.

"Sir yes sir!", said the grunt Digimon.

The Commandramon then marched out of the room, the door closing behind him. Sealsdramon turned back at the screen, his cybernetic eye staring daggers at the location of the village.

"You won't escape from me this time, little one", said the elite Digimon.

It took about half an hour before they reached the bottom of the canyon, but when they did, both Uni and BlackTerriermon were almost at the village. It was now just a short distance away.

"There it is! Let's go!", he exclaimed as the black rabbit Digimon rushed to the village as fast as possible, with the Lastation Candidate trying to keep up.

"Wait up, BlackTerriermon!", shout Uni as she chased after him.

After about a minute of running, they reached the small village. They were hoping that there were any signs of life in the area. But when they got close to it, they could see that it was not a pretty sight. Many of the adobe buildings were either charred or burnt with scorch marks. Others were crumbling or completely reduced to ruined debris. Signs and windows were also smashed or broken. Most disturbing of all was the fact that there was no single living being around. It was as if the village that BlackTerriermon once lived in was now reduced to being a ghost town.

The black rabbit Digimon's heart sank as looked all around, searching for any sign of anyone still living around. But not matter where he looked, he could not find anyone anywhere. Still, he wasn't about to give up just yet.

"Hello? Is anyone here?", he called out, hoping for an answer.

Uni looked around, examining the destruction of the ruined buildings. Her partner was joking about the D-Brigade's actions. She walked up to her partner, who glared back to her with a very worried expression.

"Let's search around. Maybe there's still someone around", she said.

BlackTerriermon nodded as he led the raven haired girl around. While they were looking around for any signs of life, the black rabbit Digimon told her all about his village, how his people lived, and even what his friends and family did.

"We Terriermons and Lopmons lived side by side in this village in peace, despite the scorching sun", said BlackTerriermon. "We usually make a living by searching the sands for minerals or stuff that ends up getting lost in the desert. Then we would start offering them up for bargain prices to either our villagers or other friendly Digimon who happen to visit us. We also try to grow our own crops out here, but it's mighty difficult, considering that water is sometimes hard to come by. That's why we try to get as much as we could from another village somewhere."

"Wow, that's amazing!", said Uni in awe.

The raven haired girl was quite impressed as her partner went on. She never thought that creatures from another world entirely could be civilized, let alone even conduct trade with other creatures. To the Lastation Candidate, the Digital World was looking to be more and more like an amazing place. But she was also about to learn that it has its own share of hardships as well.

"Things were very nice for a long time since I can remember", BlackTerriermon continued. "But then hard times started to fall. I think it was because of the D-Brigade making their appearance known in the Digital World, slowly conquering territory after territory. Digimon started to stop coming to our village, and trade became harder and harder for us. Then one day, I found that cave with the Black Digitron, and... well, you know the rest."

"Yeah...", said Uni sympathetically.

She could still remember the black rabbit Digimon's story about how his village was attacked by the D-Brigade after he had fell into a pool of Black Digitron, searching for any signs of the of the black substance, and possibly even him, before her partner eventually escaped into the world of Gameindustri, where the pair would be destined to meet each other and fight alongside one another.

"Okay... enough of that for now. It's time we start looking around", said BlackTerriermon.

"Sure. Let's see if we can find any trace of anyone here", stated Uni.

They then spent an hour and a half checking the adobe buildings left and right, searching in and out of them for any signs of life anywhere. The pair looked inside of any buildings that were still intact, searching through any rooms that they could find. Every room they checked appeared to be ransacked, yet it didn't seem like anything was taken. The Lastation Candidate was surprised by the size of the buildings, as there was barely enough room for her to move around in. She figure that they were built more for smaller beings such as BlackTerriermon.

After looking through the intact homes and buildings, both Uni and BlackTerriermon were growing more and more worried. Her partner even recommended checking again to see if they missed anything at all. They did so, but still found nothing in the process. Then they tried searching through the ruins of the demolished structures that did not survive the D-Brigade's raid. All they could find, though, was nothing but rubble and debris. Not a single sign of the black rabbit Digimon's people, friends or family could be found anywhere.

Finally, after about another half hour of looking, the pair were eventually exhausted. They searched everywhere they could in hopes of finding anything at all. But to their misfortune, nothing could be found. It was as if every single villager had vanish from the face of the Digital World leaving nothing but a ghost town behind. When the sad reality was finally starting to settle in, Blackterriermon had started to shed some tears.

"It's no good... there's no one here... They're all... all...", he said sadly.

He hung his head down as he started to cry, believing that all of his people, friends, and even his family were all either captured, or worse. Uni felt sorry for her partner. Even she felt saddened by the situation they were in. The black rabbit Digimon felt that he had lost everything and didn't know what to do about it. He felt truly alone. Unsure of what to do for him, the Lastation Candidate brought herself down to her partner's level and hugged him for comfort. It was the only thing she could think of to help him. BlackTerriermon just looked at her and braced himself against her chest, the sounds of his crying muffled as his he pressed his face against her.

"Wow... Even Digimon can feel emotions. Happiness, anger... even sadness. I had no idea...", Uni thought.

She felt her partner's tears drop on her dress and skin. It took her everything to hold back her own tears. After ten minutes, BlackTerriermon had calmed down enough to stop crying. He looked back up at Uni, who just stared at him with comforting eyes.

"I know what it's like losing someone you care about", Uni explained. "When my sister Noire was captured for three years, I didn't know what to do. I felt like I was all on my own, and that I had no one to rely on. But when I met Nepgear and the others, I realized that I wasn't truly alone. Because of them, we all saved our sisters together and brought them back home."

BlackTerriermon was amazed. He had no idea that his partner had went through something similar in her life. A part of him wished he could be as strong as her, but he didn't know how. Looking at her again, she smiled.

"We don't know if they were all deleted or not. But if they were captured, then we'll find them and save them all", said the Lastation Candidate. It's like you said: Momentai~"

The black rabbit Digimon just looked at the raven haired girl and just nodded. Despite not being related to one another, she was willing to help him find his people no matter what. He was glad to have a friend like her by his side.

"Yeah. Momentai~", BlackTerriermon said happily.

Suddenly, a big explosion had sounded off, alarming the pair. They turned to the direction of the sound only to see that something had impacted one of the nearby buildings, causing it to catch fire and break apart. Both of them were shocked by what just happened. Acting quickly, Uni pulled out her rifle weapon, peering through the scope to see what was outside of the village. What she saw made her shudder. Approaching the village was a large squad of blue armored creatures and tank-like monsters coming towards their direction. From their appearance, they could tell that they seen them before. Approaching the village was a squadron of Commandramons and Tankmons moving towards the village.

"It's the D-Brigade!", Uni exclaimed.

This made BlackTerriermon shudder to his core. They didn't think that the D-Brigade would come back to the village after it had been emptied of life. What were they after this time? Was it the Black Digitron within the black rabbit Digimon? Or could they be there just to destroy the pair while they were alone? Whatever the case, the pair could tell that they meant business. The raven haired girl wondered why they needed so many numbers. Just then, BlackTerriermon leapt out in front of her.

"Hey, what are you doing?", Uni asked her partner.

"They're after me. I have the Black Digitron inside of me. You have to get away from me", said the black rabbit Digimon.

"No way! I'm not just gonna sit this one out. You can't take them all by yourself", said the Lastation Candidate.

"I can't risk getting you captured or worse. Besides, you can't transform", stated BlackTerriermon.

"I may not have HDD here. But that doesn't mean I can't put up a fight!", Uni replied.

Cocking her rifle weapon, she loaded up and proceeded to stand by her partner's side.

"Besides, without me you can't Digivolve, remember? We're in this together now, no matter what", she continued.

BlackTerriermon looked at his partner with awe. Uni was determined to help his friend despite the odds being stacked against their favor. In his heart, he didn't want to drag the raven haired girl into his problems, but in his mind, he knew that he couldn't talk her out of it no matter what he said. If she was willing to help him face the enemy, then he was more than happy to fight by her side. The black rabbit Digimon smiled before nodding to her.

"Thanks, Uni. You're a great friend", said BlackTerriermon.

Uni smiled back at him, knowing that they would be together no matter what the odds were. They marched to the end of the empty village, wanting to meet the enemy forces outside, The pair were hoping that they could fight them off without bringing anymore damage to the already ruined ghost town. They stared down the approaching D-Brigade forces, who had reached their position within a minute. They all stopped in front of the pair, their weapons now taking aim at them. BlackTerriermon readied himself for battle, while Uni aimed her rifle weapon, ready to open fire at any moment.

Just then, some of the Commandramon in front moved their weapons back, confusing the pair a bit. Then the grunt Digimons stepped aside, making room for a new being to approach. He stepped forward, his appearance shocking the pair, more so for the black rabbit Digimon. He was taller than the Commandramon soldiers and had a longer tail. He wore dark grey armor that covered his whole body, a combat knife sheathed on his chest, and a crested helmet that had a clear eye piece on the left side, while the right side had a red cybernetic eye connected to it. He stared down both the Lastation Candidate and BlackTerriermon, his cybernetic red eye gleaming with sinister intent.

"Well, this is a surprise. But then again, cowards and criminals always come back to the scene of the crime", the creature said.

Uni looked at her partner, who just stared at the tall one in horror. Knowing that something was wrong, she pulled out her Digivice. Scanning the D-Brigade member, a holographic image appeared on the small screen, complete with information.

"Sealsdramon. A Champion level Digimon who's an elite soldier of the D-Brigade. He can scan for a target's weakness using his Scouter Monoeye, and take down said targets with a technique called Death Behind", she read.

Sealsdramon was surprised by how the Lastation Candidate was able to get information on him in a matter of seconds. Using his red cybernetic eye, he scanned the raven haired girl's Digivice, gathering info on it and how it works, then he scanned the owner of the device, who stared at him uncomfortably.

"I don't know about you, BlackTerriermon, but I feel like he's undressing me with that eye of his...", said Uni, shivering at the very thought.

"So this must be the human that the little rabbit befriended. That must mean that the gadget she has in her hand is a Digivice. Which means...", Sealsdramon thought.

"I take it you must be one of the CPUs from that world called Gameindustri, correct?", he then asked.

Uni stared at him in surprise, but she wasn't scared by his skills of deduction.

"And what if I am?", she answered.

"Hmhmhmhm, perfect. It would now seem I have the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone", said Sealsdramon.

He then turned back to BlackTerriermon, who just got over his initial shock and was now staring him down, before continuing.

"You should not have come back, you know. Otherwise we would not have traced the Black Digitron within you to this location. Now you've doomed both yourself and your new ally", he said.

"It's your fault that my people are gone now! We did nothing wrong to you and you attacked us anyway!", shouted BlackTerriermon.

"You seem to be misunderstanding our reasons. We simply wanted to relocate the Terriermons and Lopmons from a place that is going to be the new dig site that will aid in our search for Black Digitron. It just so happened that you were in the wrong place at the wrong time", the elite Digimon explained.

"You expect us to believe that trash?! Don't make us laugh!", Uni barked.

"Silence your tongue, human, unless you wish for it to be cut from your mouth. This matter does not concern you", Sealsdramon hissed.

"It does when it's my friend's life that's at stake. Now where are his people?!", the Lastation Candidate demanded.

"Who knows? Maybe they're still alive somewhere? Hard to say really", said Sealsdramon.

"If you've hurt even one of them, I swear I'll make you pay!", BlackTerriermon yelled angrily.

"Hmph. As if you could do anything by yourself. You're all alone with no one to help you", said the elite Digimon.

"He's got me to back him up. And there's no way we'll ever let you get away with hurting innocent lives!", shouted Uni.

"So you wish to make a stand against us? Very well. Know that you'll perish braver than most", Sealsdramon said menacingly.

Uni looked at her partner, who glanced back at her and nodded.

"Let's do this", said the raven haired girl said.

She then pointed her Digivice at the black rabbit Digimon, who was ready to fight the moment he Digivolved. However Sealsdramon was not about to let them go through with their action.

"I don't think so", he said.

Suddenly, the elite Digimon dashed towards Uni, who was taken aback by his incredible speed. Unable to react in time, her arm was grabbed by one of Sealsdramon's claws. The then twisted her arm by the wrist, causing her to drop her Digivice. The Lastation Candidate tried to break free, but the elite Digimon's grip was too strong. She then tried to point her rifle weapon at him, but he grabbed it with his other arm and yanked it out of her hand, tossing it aside. Angered by his actions, BlackTerriermon charged towards him.

"Get away from her!", he yelled.

He leapt at the elite Digimon, hoping to land an attack on him. Sealsdramon saw this coming, however, and used his tail to bat away BlackTerriermon, knocking him to the ground. The Commandramons and Tankmons readied their weapons and took aim at the black rabbit Digimon. But Sealsdramon raised his free hand up, informing them to hold their fire until he gives the order. Then he back handed Uni, throwing her towards her partner in the process. The raven haired girl could feel the pain in her body as she clutch herself.

"Did you really think I'd allow you to gain an advantage so easily?", said Sealsdramon.

He then looked down at where the Digivice fell and picked it up. He examined it closely as he moved it around.

"So this is the little device you CPUs use to make your Digimon friends Digivolve. Quite an impressive piece of technology. I can just imagine the wonders it'll do for us", the elite Digimon said.

Both Uni and BlackTerriermon looked on in horror while Sealsdramon held their Digivice in the palms of his hands. It was the only way they could fight back, and without it, the pair were sitting ducks. Their chances of survival were now slim.

"Still, there's no way you could have made this on your own. No. I suspect this was made by an outside force. No matter. I'm sure that the D-Brigade will put this to a more practical use", Sealsdramon continued.

"Give that back you creep!", exclaimed Uni.

"Oh, I think not. Take them away. Our leader Analogman will know what to do with them", the elite Digimon ordered.

Both BlackTerriermon and the Lastation Candidate were not what to do now. The D-Brigade forces were now surrounding them, and there was nothing they could do to escape. Without Uni's HDD or the ability to Digivolve via the Digivice, they felt helpless. They braced themselves for the worst as the D-Brigade soldiers moved in to grab them. Just then...

"Sealsdramon, sir! Incoming bogey from vector two five zero! Approaching fast!", one of the Commandramons exclaimed.

"What?!", said Sealsdramon in surprise.

He and the other D-Brigade forces turned to look at the direction of where the "bogey" was coming from. Both Uni and BlackTerriermon looked at each other in confusion before turning to see what was coming. Then they saw it: A large black object flying down from one of the canyon walls. It landed close to where everyone was, creating a large cloud of dust to blow everywhere. Everyone shielded their eyes so as not to get blinded by the flying debris. When the dust finally settled, every single D-Brigade soldier, including Sealsdramon, looked on in horror, confusing the pair even more.

Looking at where the "bogey" landed, they could see it was no mere object at all. It was a very tall figure, about two to three stories high, and clad in what look like black armor, but it was hard to see what other features he had due to a black cape that had surrounded around his body. Underneath his makeshift hood, his eyes were a red color, and he had three horns on his head - two black ones on the back of his head and one frontal horn that was a faded yellow color. Judging by the D-Brigade's reaction, there was a reason to fear this newcomer's presence.

"It's him! It's the Enforcer!", one of the Tankmons exclaimed.

"The 'Enforcer?'", Uni thought as she stared at the newcomer.

"S-S-Sir! W-W-What's HE d-d-doing here?!", another Commandramon inquired, his voice stuttering.

"Who cares! Open fire now! Fire! Fire! FIIIRRREEE! ! !", Sealsdramon yelled.

The Commandramons and Tankmons aimed their weapons at the black armored individual and fired away immediately, from lasers to armor piercing rounds and even cannon shells. Blasts and explosions could be seen hitting his body, eventually covering him behind a thick veil of smoke. Both the Lastation Candidate and the black rabbit Digimon were in awe by their combined firepower. They wondered what could possibly make them so afraid that they would all open fire at once like that. They were about to find out the answer in a minute.

After a minute of endless fire, Sealsdramon ordered his troops to cease fire. The deafening roar of laser and artillery fire soon ceased to be, and the rising wall of smoke still blocked everyone's view. Everyone either wondered if the black armored individual was still alive of if he had been pulverized by the attack.

"Confirmed multiple hits on target! Did we get him, sir?!", a Commandramon said.

"You fool! If it really is him, then it wouldn't be this easy!", shouted Sealsdramon.

The answer was soon made obvious when the wall of smoke was quickly waved away by the figure, who simply waved his cape to fan the fumes away. Everyone could now get a better look of the armored being. His chest had faded yellow stripping, and a symbol with a red gemstone in the center. His left arm had a small shield on the shoulder with a faded yellow sun marking, and the entirety of the arm looked like a dragon head with two horns on the sides and one sharp horn on the front. On the right arm, there was a shoulder with three spikes on it, while the right arm itself looked like a wolf's head.

Uni and BlackTerriermon were utterly speechless as to what had just happened. There was no way that anyone could survive that amount of firepower. The expressions on their faces were a mixture of amazement and terror. What was more shocking was that, despite the D-Brigade throwing everything they had at the individual, there was not a single scratch on him at all. This baffled the pair, but they were too shocked to think how this was possible. Whoever this being is, he was someone that was not to be trifled with.

The D-Brigade looked on in sheer horror, seeing that their combined firepower did absolutely nothing to stop the black armored being. Sealsdramon, utterly enraged, was about to give the order to fire again when suddenly, the dark figure raised his right arm. Swinging it outward, the "wolf's mouth" opened up, revealing what looked like a large cannon. He then aimed it at the D-Brigade forces, alarming the elite Digimon greatly.

"Fall back! I repeat, fall back!", he exclaimed.

The D-Brigade forces split up into a group of two immediately upon hearing the order. Uni and BlackTerriermon looked at them running away, then back to the black armored individual, who was now charging the cannon on his right arm. Something was telling them to get down quickly, or risk getting caught up in the ensuing attack.

"BlackTerriermon, get down!", Uni screamed.

The black rabbit Digimon did as instructed, huddling close to the Lastation Candidate. Meanwhile, the armored being took aim at Sealsdramon's group. The energy in his arm cannon swelled and crackled, growing bigger and bigger as a ball of light. After what felt like an eternity, the cannon had fully charged.

"Supreme Cannon", said the dark figure.

A gigantic beam of energy blasted out of the cannon in a bright stream of light. The bright light illuminated the canyon, and the waves of energy blew dust and dirt everywhere. Sealsdramon saw the wave of energy coming and, reacting fast, barely avoided being grazed by the beam of light. The group of D-Brigade soldiers that were with him were not so fortunate, however. They ran as fast as they could, but they could not outpace the laser, and were obliterated. A large explosion took place, blinding everyone in the vicinity.

Uni and BlackTerriermon had shielded their eye from the bright intensity of the explosion. When the light had faded, they opened their eyes to see what had happened. All they could see was a gigantic cloud of smoke, much bigger than what the D-Brigade's firepower had caused. When it cleared, however, they gasped at what they saw. A large blast crater had formed where the half of the D-Brigade had once stood. Their bodies were no where to be found. Just digital particles of where they once were.

Meanwhile, Sealsdramon looked on in pure horror. Half of his squadron was wiped off thee face of the Digital World. He could not believe what his cybernetic eye was showing him. As he was recovering from the shock, he realized he was missing something. The elite Digimon saw that he had dropped the Digivice. He looked all over for it and saw that it was a short distance away. He was about to move for it when suddenly, the black armored being got right in front of him, the barrel of his arm cannon aiming directly at his head. Sealsdramon felt that he was staring death directly in the face. Looking into the being's red eyes, he started shaking in fear. Then the dark individual spoke in a tone that would make everyone shiver.

"Leave. Now", was all he said.

Sealsdramon stared at the black figure in sheer terror for what seemed like seconds. Deciding not to press his luck, he backed away from the black armored being, not turning his eyes away for even a second. He then pressed a button on his helmet, presumably a radio device of sorts.

"All surviving D-Brigade units, retreat from the area immediately", he ordered as calmly as he could.

As he picked himself up and turned away, he took one last look at the Lastation Candidate and the black rabbit Digimon, who had been watching the entire event unfold before their eyes, and burned their image into his mind.

"This isn't over...", the elite Digimon thought.

He then ran as fast as his legs could take him, leaving a trail of dust behind him. Uni, BlackTerriermon and the dark armored figure watched Sealsdramon run until he was completely out of sight. Seeing no point in eliminating him, the black armored being retracted cannon back into his right arm. Both Uni and her partner were stunned by what had transpired. Never before had they seen someone or something wipe out half an army like that. They didn't know whether to be impressed or terrified that a being like this exists.

As Uni just stared at the dark armored being, BlackTerriermon decided to pluck up the courage to move. He then rushed towards the powerful being, much to the distress of Uni, who was afraid he might end up getting them both destroyed.

"BlackTerriermon, wait!", she called out to him.

The black armored being noticed her voice and turned to look at her, then down to the approaching black rabbit Digimon. The fact that he dwarfed the little Digimon in terms of size was quite intimidating. Still, BlackTerriermon managed to gather the courage to speak to him.

"I don't know who you are mister, but thank you for saving us! I don't think we would've gotten out alive if it weren't for you", he said.

The dark figure did not reply, however. He just kept staring at the black rabbit Digimon, as if scrutinizing his appearance. Then he turned his attention back to the raven haired girl, who had caught up to BlackTerriermon. Uni couldn't help but feel nervous. She felt like he was staring swords at her. At last, he spoke.

"If you know what's good for you, you will go back to your dimension and forget you ever set foot in the Digital World", he said.

His voice sent chills down their spines. The black armored being then turned away from them, wrapping his cape around his body once more. Uni reached out her hand to him.

"Hey, wait!", she said.

But she couldn't say anything more before the dark being leapt to the air and flew off a great speed. He flew to the sky before vanishing behind a patch of clouds. In a way, Uni was relieved to see him go. However she had hoped to get his name before he left. Nevertheless, she was still shocked by his appearance and actions.

"Was he a Digimon? And if so, can Digimon become that powerful?", she thought.

As the raven haired girl was lost in thought, she was brought back to reality by BlackTerriermon tugging at her dress. She looked down to see what was the matter when she saw him holding something.

"Look what I got~", he said in a cheerful tone.

Held in his paws was Uni's Digivice. The Lastation Candidate smiled happily, glad to see that it was alright. She took the device out of his hands and patted the black rabbit Digimon on the head, ruffling his fur a bit.

"Good job, buddy! I was afraid I'd lose this thing", praised Uni.

"Momentai~ It was nothing, really", BlackTerriermon giggled.

They both smiled at each other, happy to see that they were alright and unharmed. Still, the fact that they even managed to walk away unscathed was nothing short of lucky. As they were wondering how they were still alive, Uni's thoughts diverted back to the black armored being.

"Just who was that guy anyway? And why did he save us?", she asked aloud.

"I don't know. But one thing's for sure, he seemed pretty scary", said BlackTerriermon.

"No kidding. I thought for sure we'd be next...", Uni sighed.

Their attention suddenly turned back towards the empty town that used to be the black rabbit Digimon's home. He frowned as he stared at the ruins of his village. Uni, feeling that he might start to break down into sadness again, placed her hand on his head, causing him to glance back at her.

"Cheer up, little guy. We'll find your friends and family soon enough. And we'll rescue them all", she said.

BlackTerriermon felt like he was about to cry again, but hearing his partner reassure him made him feel better once again. Holding back his tears, he simply nodded.

"Right! We'll make those D-Brigade bullies wish they never came here!", he said excitedly.

"That's the spirit. Now come on. Let's get out of here before they decide to return", said the raven haired girl.

The black rabbit Digimon nodded as he jumped on top of Uni's head. He then spread his long ears out to provide shade once more. The Lastation Candidate giggle at this and walked onwards once more. Not before taking one last look at the empty village. A loom of determination formed in her eyes.

"We'll find your people and set them free, BlackTerriermon. I promise", she thought.

As they both started to leave the scene, many questions puzzled the pair. Where was the D-Brigade keeping the black rabbit Digimon's friends and family? Why were they after this "Black Digitron" stuff? For what purposes would that elite Digimon want her Digivice? And just who was that tall black armored being that appeared out of nowhere and attacked the D-Brigade? And why were both Sealsdramon and his soldiers so afraid of him? There were so many questions, yet there was not a single answer to them. Still, only time will tell which of them will be resolved in what order. For now, though, the pair had one goal in mind, and that was to find their friends. The pair continued onwards, not knowing where they'll end up or what they'll find. Still, they could only hope that their comrades were having better luck than them.

The black armored being flew through the sky at incredible speeds. As he moved through the air like a jet, he thought about the black rabbit Digimon and the human that was with him. He wondered why both of them would risk picking a fight with the D-Brigade despite knowing that they had no chance of winning. As much as he admired their fighting spirit, he felt that it was foolish of them to even attempt such a stunt. But perhaps that same spirit was what promted him to save them from their predicament.

His thoughts then went back to the Digimon. He heard the human call him "BlackTerriermon", as it were. He thought long and hard on the little Digimon.

"Is it possible that he was affected by Black Digitron? If so, is he like me then?", he thought aloud.

He quickly dismissed the thought, however. There was no way that the little black rabbit Digimon or the human that was with him could ever hope to reach the level of power like he has, even with the Black Digitron. Still, the thought of another Digimon infused with the power of Black Digitron did make him grow concerned. So much, in fact, that the very thought now irked him.

"No one else should that kind of curse bestowed upon them. Even IF they are working with humans", he said aloud.

He continued on, flying through more clouds until he was eventually out of sight. Suddenly, popping out from one of the clouds, a purple mechanical sphere peered out, watching the black armored being from a safe distance.

At his castle, ChaosDukemon was watching the monitor. A Gizumon was sending a live transmission of the black armored being flying through the clouds. His yellow eyes stared intensely at the screen, as if bothered by this figure's very existence. He wondered how long it was since he went off the grid, and why he had decided to shown up right then and there of all times. He wondered if this was really related to the CPUs and their Digimon appearing in the Digital World. He perished this idea, however, as he believed that there was another reason in mind. And what that reason was, even he did not know. On thing he knew for sure, though, was that the dark knight's presence may become a hinderance to his plans.

"I wonder... just what are you up to, Zwart?"

And that is it for this chapter. Man, what a doozy. Seems the CPUs and their friends now have more to worry about than just ChaosDukemon, Analogman, or even the D-Brigade itself. Which begs two questions: Is that black armored Digimon a mysterious friend or fearsome foe? And does ChaosDukemon know something about him? All these questions and more will be answered in the future.

For now, though, I think that is all the time we have for today. If you enjoyed this chapter, be sure to leave a review and follow for more like this one. And as always, I'll see you again in another chapter. Catch ya later and keep on Nepping!
