Daily Entry 01: Clone Battalion Commander CC-4242: (152 Days ABG)

A lot happened today that I'm not ready to share with anyone, and I'm really thankful for Splinter's suggestion that I write down my thoughts. I missed him, I haven't seen him in months. I should really talk to him about the Muun 10's strategies, maybe I can learn something from them.

I am reluctant to accept another Jedi commander. Their tactics got half our commandos and thousands of troopers killed at Geonosis. Jango said little of his personal life, but he did tell us about the Jedi. He harbored a grudge, since they took away his brothers and left him at Death Watch's mercy. He said they don't allow themselves to get close to anyone, and they mindlessly carry out the Republic's orders. Then again, so do we.

I was briefed on Kali'sto beforehand. Apparently, he's a Vie'vantae, a near-human species. He's a consular, trained for diplomacy. In addition, he was one of numerous Jedi promoted rapidly for the war effort (he should technically still be a padawan). I don't consider this a good qualification for military service.

However, I must admit that Kali'sto didn't make a bad first impression on me.

He's near-human, lean, about 0.4 meters under my height, looks like he's the equivalent of his twenties. He looks like what would happen if you crossed a human with a plant, and there's a similar grace to his movements. What stuck with me was his eyes. They're a variety of colors, blending together, they're really nice to look at...or gaze at, I suppose. That wasn't what changed my opinion of him, however.

He seemed...resigned, anxious. Much like myself. There is an inherent curiosity in his actions, and he looked a little surprised when I interacted with him. He had probably just realized I'm not an organic droid. He asked my name when I introduced myself. I prefer people addressing me by my number, mainly because I don't have a good nickname yet. Fortitude…

Kali'sto seemed to notice this, and addressed me by my rank instead. As we interacted, he was courteous, professional, yet friendly, warm.

Maybe he won't be as bad as I thought. I saw his gear: blasters, at least he knows to bring in more than just that lightsaber.
