Entry 13: Commander CC-4242 (179 Days ABG)
Following the bombardment of the crevice, the Destroyer jammed all outgoing communications from Doan. With the bulk of his armies destroyed, uprisings occurring all over the planet, and cut off from contacting reinforcements, Daleshann issued a declaration of surrender.
Once we reestablished contact with the Republic, we conducted negotiations in the Doan royal palace between the Resistance leaders and Kali'sto. An agreement was made to form a provisional government where both the royals and resistance would be equally represented. Gala's burrowrats will act as a planetary defense force. I pity the Separatist commander who attempts to retake the planet.
One interesting turn of events is that Gala has asked to join our battalion and the GAR as an officer. A squad of her burrowrats also wished to enlist. It was surprising, for Kali'sto, Splinter, and myself. It certainly breaks protocol. Splinter argued vehemently against it, for that reason.
However, looking at our casualty numbers, I think there's some merit to the idea. There are only so many clones, and the war will kill more of us. And it was largely due to Gala's aid and tactics that we won the day. Gala is a capable and unorthodox officer and instructor, and I think we could use that.
However, I did not have the authority to make that decision. But Kali'sto did. And he agreed with my recommendation. So, he took it upon himself as a Jedi General to enlist Gala into the GAR under the rank of Major. She and her squad of burrowrats will now served in my Battalion as soldiers, instructors, whatever we need them to be.
As for my battalion, we're headed off to resupply and refill our ranks. We lost a total of 237 troopers, with 3 still MIA. I wish I had more words, but all I can say is Ni'suy'cui, gar kyr'adyc, ni'partayli, gar darasuum (translation: I'm still alive, but you are dead. I remember you, so you are eternal). But, I didn't know all their names. Not all of them had names.
They all should. They all will.
