Chapter 2: Much Needed Words and Training Begins

(Midoriya Home)

Izuku allowed himself to be dried off with a fluffy towel by his mother after the two of them finished a bath. It had been 2 hours since he and his mother were attacked and then saved by the Green Arrow. Once the shock and adrenaline had worn off, Izuku had immediately switched into fanboy mode.

(Flashback, just after the arrests)

Izuku was hugging his mother in a death grip as she gave the police her statements while Green Arrow corroborated as well.

"And that's when I called the authorities," said Green Arrow as he finished his statement.

The officer nodded and closed his notebook, "Well that's all I need, thanks to you these pieces of scum won't hurt anyone again." The officer said with respect to the hooded archer as the lone surviving criminal was put into the police cruiser and taken to the station for questioning while the other two were put in body bags. While most heroes didn't kill, there were those that chose to take the lives of criminals who were irredeemable. Green Arrow was one of those heroes, he was the newest underground hero that appeared 4 years ago and wasn't squeamish about getting his hands dirty. He didn't always kill but wouldn't hesitate to put an arrow through the hearts of criminals who committed the worst crimes.

Facing the mother and son the officer said, "You two are free to go, we'll call you to come to the station to answer a few more questions later. For now, get some rest and take of your son Ms. Midoriya."

As the officer left, the trio began making their way towards the Midoriya home, and Izuku finally got a chance to catch his breath and look at his savior. Instantly his inner fanboy surfaced. "OMG!!!! You're the Green Arrow! The underground hero who appeared 4 years ago and took down criminals that even some pro heroes wouldn't. Your skills with the bow and arrow are second to none and many debate whether it's your quirk that gives you such good accuracy or just natural skill. I think its mutter mutter mutter mutter…."

"Izuku calm down! I think you're overwhelming him." Said Inko as she lightly shook her son.

"EEP!" Squeaked Izuku before hastily apologizing. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to ramble but I'm just such a big fan of heroes and you're really becoming one of my favorites, so I just mutter mutter mutter mutter…"

The archer could only look at the boy with amusement as he rapidly mumbled again. "It's all right, I'm actually flattered that I have such a big fan. Not many people are supportive of my 'methods' with some criminals. Not very heroic they say."

"Well they're wrong!" Izuke loudly proclaimed, surprising the archer slightly. "You saved me and my mom. Without you, then we would have been hurt us more…so…so … YOU ARE DEFINITELY A HERO!"

Oliver was genuinely shocked, ever since he arrived in this world and began taking down criminals he was viewed with mixed responses. On one hand he was stopping criminals permanently if they were the worst of the worst, killers, rapists, child molesters etc. On the other hand, some saw him as a vigilante who took the law into his own hands and became judge, jury and executioner to criminals when they should have a fair trial, even though the justice system was flawed at times.

However, this young boy who he was told to save from the path of villainy was clearly admiring him, he called him a hero even when Oliver didn't believe he actually was one at times.

"A real hero huh? It's been a while since someone's called me that and meant it. Thanks kid." Said the Emerald Archer with real gratitude. "Do you mind if I walk you home? There's something I want to discuss with you two, if you don't mind." Green Arrow suddenly asked Inko.

"O-of course! You're more than welcome. Just give us moment to freshen up first." Replied the now flustered mother who couldn't help but blush at the thought of the man who saved her and her son on her home. Not that she would mind, the archer's sleeveless costume REALLY showed off his muscular arms, and she couldn't help but feel something familiar about him. Like they had met before.

She just shook her head and decided to think on it later and lead the Green Arrow to her and Izuku's home while still clutching her son's hand in hers.

(Flashback end)

Now that both of them were dried off and wearing loose casual clothes, they walked into the living room where Green Arrow was patiently waiting for them.

"So, what did you want to talk about Mister Green Arrow?" Inko asked after she sat down with Izuku on her lap and Green Arrow on a couch across from her.

"You can just call me Green Arrow, 'mister' makes me feel old." Replied the Archer with a chuckle. "Well to be blunt, I want to train your son." He said which made Izuku look up in shock, surprise and a little bit of hope.

"Y-y-you want to train me?" asked the freckled boy.

The Archer nodded.

"But why? I'm not anyone special, I'm not strong or fast like Kachan. I don't even have a qui-" he stopped himself from saying anything further as the reality of him not having quirk hit him full force.

Oliver could only look at the young boy in sadness and sympathy as tears threatened to fall from his green eyes and his mother held him tightly against her form. Society had really made it seem that without some kind of flashy power then it would be impossible to become a hero or even be looked at with any kind of respect. Well, he was going to help Izuku prove them all wrong.

"Izuku," said Green Arrow softly.

They boy looked up from his mothers embrace to see the green clad hero looking at him with his steely eyes behind his mask.

"Just because you don't have a quirk doesn't mean that you cannot become a hero." He told the boy. Izuku actually gasped as the words that he so desperately wanted no, needed to hear was said.

Green Arrow continued, "It doesn't matter if you have a quirk or if you're quirkless, if you're willing to risk your own life for someone else without hesitation, regardless of the danger, then you're definitely a hero."

Izuku know had tears pouring from his eyes as he clutched his chest. This was what he desperately needed to hear, something that he had been denied to him, something that everyone said would be impossible to obtain. Now this person, a hero himself was saying it was possible!

"In that alley, when you and your mother were being attacked. You didn't even think, you just acted when she was in danger. You did everything in your power to protect the one you love, and if that isn't the quality of a hero then I don't know what is. Izuku, you are special, you're someone that I can see is going to be a shining beacon for those who need it. Izuku, you can be a hero!"

That was it! Those were the words he needed hear!

"T-THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH!" Cried Izuku emotionally, but the sheer happiness was easily noticeable despite the overflowing tears from both Izuku and Inko as well who was holding her son as tightly as she could.

After a few minutes of none-stop crying, the two Midoriya's managed to calm down enough to hear the rest of Green Arrow's proposal.

"As I was saying, I want to train Izuku to be a hero. I can sense he has great potential and I wan to be the one to help bring it out."

Inko was deep in thought, on the one hand it would be extremely dangerous for her son. Villains wouldn't care if he was just a child, they wouldn't hesitate to hurt him to get away. On the other hand, Izuku would be achieving his dream, one she had nearly taken away from him.

Looking at the most important thing in her life siting on her lap, she quietly asked. "Is this what you want Izuku? Truly?"

"Yes, it is! It's what I always wanted!" he instantly responded.

"Then who am I to say no?"

This earned another tight embrace, but none were complaining. "Alright! I'm going to be trained by the Green Arrow! I can't believe this is happening!"

The hooded archer just chuckled, "Alright kid, don't get to excited. This training is going be hell on earth, so I want you to give me one hundred percent. You understand?"

"Y-YES SIR! I WON'T LET YOU DOWN!"

Nodding, Green Arrow then did something unexpected. "Seeing as we're going to spending a lot of time together, I might as well introduce myself properly." He then pulled back his hood and to the showed his face to the two now surprised duo.

"Mister Queen? Oliver? You're the Green Arrow?" asked Inko. She never would have guessed that the Archer who saved her was the same man she met earlier in the park.

"You're the man that was talking to my mom in the park. You're the Green Arrow?!" Izuku exclaimed.

"Yes, I am, I felt that there should be trust between us. That's why I decided to tell you my identity." Explained Oliver. "So, allow me to fully introduce myself. My name is Oliver Queen, and for five years…"

(Two Days Later)

Izuku stood in front of Oliver, nervous but also determined. Oliver had picked him up this morning and brought to a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. This is where they would train without being disturbed.

Oliver stood in front of him wearing a pair of loose cargo pants and a white shirt before addressing the freckled boy. "Before we start, I need you to know that I won't go easy on you. There will be days when you'll want to quit, days where you'll curse my name and my methods, but it will be worth it in the end. Do you understand?" he asked.

Izuku gulped but nodded.

"Ok, first I want you to run through this obstacle course." Said Oliver as he gestured to a track in the warehouse that had a variety of obstacles like a rope-wall climb, boxes he had vault over, monkey bars etc.

"These will train not only your body strength and free-running/parkour skills, but also your ability to think while moving. One misstep could lead to a nasty fall." Explained Oliver while Izuku was muttering up a storm.

"I see, pro heroes often patrol on rooftops and those without flight quirks have to run on foot while dodging or conquering obstacles like gaps in-between buildings or air conditioning vents that could be in the way. Free-runners often climb walls with just their fingertips so grip and upper-body strength will be important mutter mutter mutter mutter…"

Oliver sweatdropped, he would really need to try and break that habit.

"Izuku."

"Mutter mutter"

"Izuku."

"Mutter mutter"

"IZUKU!"

" EEP! I'M SORRY!" Izuku shouted embarrassedly and bowed so rapidly his body was a blur.

" Sigh, It's ok, just try and focus more next time, ok." Said Oliver.

Izuku quickly nodded and took his position to start running.

"Ok when I say 'go' you run, got it?"

"Yes sensei!"

"Alright then, aaannnnd GO!"

"This is it! My first steps to becoming a hero like All Might!" Thought Izuku as he ran to the fist obstacle. "I can do this!"

(3 minutes later)

"I CAN'T DO THIS!" Izuke screamed internally.

Izuku's lungs felt like they were on fire, his arms and legs wobbled like jelly as he tried to climb a rope. The four-year old had managed to clear four obstacles, (the boxes he had to vault, monkey bars, balance beam and the rope-wall) before his body began to scream in protest.

"Come on Izuku! It's just a rope, climb it!" ordered Oliver as he watched his new protege struggle to pull his own body weight up.

"I'm trying! But my arms feel like they're gonna fall off!" Izuku responded through gritted teeth before his body couldn't take the strain anymore. Izuku dropped down onto the soft mat with a oof and greedily sucked in air with deep breaths.

The young hero in training couldn't help but feel disappointed in himself, there were still many obstacles and he only managed to clear a handful. His teacher must be so disappointed.

"I'm sorry sensei!" Izuku cried out as Oliver approached. "I couldn't go on. I really wanted to, but my body just couldn't! I'm sorry for letting you down!"

"Calm down Izuku, I'm not mad at you." Said Oliver calmly.

"Y-you're not?" asked Izuku incredulously. He had thought Oliver would be mad at him for not completing the entire course.

"No I'm not. I never said that you had to get through every obstacle, only that you had to run through the course. I didn't expect you to finish the whole thing, only to see how far you would get and if you had the will to keep going until your body gave out, which you did. And I'm proud of you for that."

Once again Izuku had tears in his eyes, "Thank you so much sensei!!!" he said while bowing rapidly again.

Oliver just shook his head and smiled lightly at the emotional response. "Ok now that we've seen how far you can get, your goal will be to try and get further next time, alright?"

"Yes sensei! I'll definitely make it further next time!" Izuku said with determination.

The archer nodded and gestured for Izuku to follow him to the training mat.

"Before we even think of putting a weapon in your hand, you're going to learn to become weapon yourself. Some of these techniques I'm going to teach you can be lethal if used incorrectly, so I want you to pay close attention and always learn control, do you understand?"

"Yes sensei!"

"Good, know this is a basic fighting stance."

A/N: That's it for now, hope you enjoyed it! Oliver finally begins Izuku's training and boy is our beloved cinnamon roll in for a tough ride, Oliver shows no mercy when it comes to training. Also, Oliver only gave an abridged version of his life, he didn't say he was from another universe cause that will get him locked up in the looney bin. As far as Inko and Izuku know, Oliver was stranded on island after his family's yacht sank during a massive storm that killed everyone except for him. It was there that he trained himself to use a bow to hunt for food and to create make-shift trick arrows from whatever he could find.

After 5 years he was rescued and brought back to America where he inherited his family's company and wealth. So, to the public he is just a wealthy business owner but not that he is an underground pro hero as well.

Next chapter will have a time skip and Izuku will make a new friend, who is it? You'll just have to wait and see. Also everyone's favorite angry Pomeranian Bakugo will make an appearance! So be prepared for shouting, foul language and shouting foul language from the blonde explosive boy.

See you next time! Sayonara!
