Chapter 1-A Surprise on Halloween
It was Halloween night, and New York City was alive with children trick-or-treating with their parents whilst dressed up in different Halloween costumes.
There was also excitement building up within the underground lair, where four ninja turtles were in the living room and preparing to head out into the city and have their own little treat-or-treat adventure.
"RROOAARR!" A loud roar was heard from the behind the sofa, causing the trio to look behind them.
What they saw next scared the shells off of them; it was the face of a werewolf!
"Waaaaaaaah!" The three older brothers screamed in terror when they saw the horrible creature's face.
"Ha, ha! Gotcha!" Mikey laughed cheekily after taking his mask off.
"Geez, Mikey…! Give us a heart attack, why don't ya!?" Raph said gruffly whilst trying to calm his racing heart down.
"Yeah! Be more careful when you do that, bro! You really could've scared us to death…!" Leo advised firmly.
"Ha, ha…Sorry, bros…So, what do you think?" Mikey said apologetically.
"Shell, that is one scary werewolf mask, Mikey…!" Donnie said in awe and shock when he looked at the mask.
"I know, right? April found it for me in her costume box!" Mikey replied gleefully as he looked at the mask in his hands.
"Just one question; why a werewolf, bro?" Leo asked curiously.
"Well, cos they're one of my favourite monster classics on Halloween…!" Mikey answered happily.
"And why's dat?" Raph questioned, tilting his head to one side.
"Because, dear brother of mine…One; the werewolf is the only known monster who has a secret identity during the day, and second; its only weakness is exposure to silver!" Mikey answered intellectually.
"That does sound like an incredible creature. However, there's something that I still don't understand; why are werewolves weak against silver?" Leo questioned, even more curious about the werewolf itself.
"Well, one theory in certain legends is that silver was seen as a 'purified' metal and had the power to weaken or kill creatures with souls of impurity…and a werewolf is one of them…" Donnie theorised in thought.
"Whoa…" Mikey breathed out in awe whilst feeling a bit intimidated by the information at the same time.
"But we don't have to worry about all that stuff now, Mikey, because it's only a legend from thousands of years ago…" Donnie added reassuringly.
"Yeah, I guess…" Mikey replied with a sigh as he looked at his werewolf mask again.
"Anyway, Mikey, what's da point in dressin' up? Dis is da only day of da year where we can walk out in human public without gettin' screamed at or threatened by da cops…!" Raph questioned firmly.
"I know that…! I just thought about wearing a scary Halloween mask for a change. Besides, I'm only gonna wear it for a little bit…!" Mikey answered defensively.
"I don't see a problem with Mikey wearing a mask for Halloween. Just don't let Master Splinter see it, ok bro? His old heart might not take it too well…" Leo advised in a cautioning tone.
"Don't worry, Leo, I promise I won't put it back on until we're topside…" Mikey reassured his oldest brother whilst placing the mask inside his pumpkin bucket.
"Good…Thanks, Mikey…" Leo replied gratefully.
"Speakin' of topside, we should get goin' if we wanna get da good stuff!" Raph reminded his brothers, now starting to get impatient.
"You're right, Raph. Come on, let's grab our pumpkin buckets and head out…" Leo replied before he and the others walked over to the table and grabbed their trick-or-treat buckets, which were shaped like pumpkins, and then headed towards the exit.
Just then, Master Splinter appeared from the kitchen and walked towards his sons just as they were about to leave.
"Enjoy yourselves out there, my sons…and be careful…" He said with a warm smile.
"We will, Master…we'll see you later…" Leo replied before bowing his respects to his sensei and father-figure, with his younger brothers doing the same, before they all made their way out of the lair to start their fun night of trick-or-treating.

2 hours later…
The turtle brothers were on one of the rooftops and taking a break from their trick-or-treating to have a look in their pumpkin baskets and see what they got so far.
"Man, dis is a lot more than I expected…!" Raph said as he looked through the sweets in his pumpkin bucket with sparkling eyes.
"Yeah! Who'd have thought that chocolate hollow skulls and jam-filled eyeball cakes would be a thing right now…!" Donnie observed when he took the said sweets out to show his brothers.
"It's too bad that April and Casey are away at a family Halloween party tonight…It would've been great for them to join us this year…" Mikey said with a sigh.
"I know, Mikey, but they've already made plans for this year, so we couldn't just force them to come with us…" Leo reminded his youngest brother.
"I know, and I get that…I'm just saying that we've hardly seen them as much as we used to since they got married a few months ago…" Mikey pointed out.
"Well, when a couple gets married, they would want to spend more time with just each other on their own instead of being around their friends…But don't worry, Mikey; it won't be long until they start coming back to visit us more…" Donnie explained, placing a comforting hand on Mikey's shoulder.
"Yeah…you're right…" Mikey replied with a sad smile.
"Hey, enough of da sad stuff! Let's get back ta trick-or-treatin'!" Raph said impatiently in a gruff tone.
The others agreed, and they were about to make a move when a flash of light suddenly appeared in front of them. When the light disappeared, the turtles saw their time-travelling friend Renet standing in front of them.
"Oh! Oh, dear!" The young timestress said in a fluster.
"Renet? What are you doing here?" Leo asked in confusion.
"Sorry, I don't have time to explain!" Renet hurriedly answered.
"W-Why? What's-"
"Oh, no! It's happening again! RUN!" Renet called out in a panic, cutting off Donnie's sentence in the process, as the sceptre started flashing.
The turtle brothers tried to run away, but it was too late; the sceptre activated itself again and it produced a huge flash of light.
"Waaaaaaaaaah!" The turtles and Renet cried out as the light surrounded them before vanishing into thin air, taking the turtle brothers with it.
