Chapter 2-Where and When are we now!?

Year 1888, Transylvania…

In a forest from a distant era, a pair of birds were feeding worms to their young chicks in their nests, and a mother deer was grazing with her young fawn standing close to her and doing the same.

All of a sudden, a huge flash of light appeared out of nowhere, startling the birds and causing the deer pair to run away. Then, the four turtle brothers appeared from within the light and fell to the ground in a turtle pile.

"Urgh…" "Ow…" The turtles groaned.

"Did I ever tell you guys dat I hate time-travellin'?" Raph asked in annoyance.

"Yeah, you did, Raph…more than once before…" Donnie answered with a sigh.

"Is everyone alright?" Leo asked after coming round a bit.

"Yeah, but I've just got one question…" Mikey answered first.

"What is it, Mikey?" Leo questioned.

"HOW'S ABOUT GETTING OFF OF ME!?" Mikey snapped loudly as he struggled to get free from underneath his brothers.

"Oh, sorry!" Leo said before he, Raph, and Donnie quickly got up and allowed Mikey to get up.

"Why am I always at the bottom of the pile…?" Mikey groaned as he stretched his body, making his back and limbs crack.

"Don't know, Mikey…It could be just bad luck…" Leo teased lightly. Mikey glared at him before he looked around when he noticed that someone was missing.

"Hey, where's Renet?" Mikey asked.

"She's not with us?" Leo questioned worriedly as he too looked around to see that Renet was nowhere to be seen.

"We must've gotten separated during the time travelling process…" Donnie theorised.

"So wait, we're stuck in an unknown time 'til we find her!?" Raph questioned in frustration.

"It seems that way, yeah…" Donnie answered sadly with a sigh.

"Great! So, where da shell are we now then!?" Raph questioned grumpily as he looked around the area where he and his brothers.

"I think you mean, when are we now, Raph? The air feels different here, as if we're somewhere in the distant past…" Donnie corrected his brother as he too looked around the area.

"Looks like we're in some kind of forest at the moment, though…" Leo said as he looked around the area.

"Well, duh; we're completely surrounded by trees and nothin' else…!" Raph replied sarcastically, making Leo glare at him in annoyance.

Whilst this was going on, Mikey was slightly further away and looking around the trees and bushes from where he was standing. Then, he froze when he saw a pair of black and yellow-coloured eyes peering from within one of the bushes.

"Err, guys…? What's that?" Mikey asked nervously as he pointed at the bush.

No sooner as he said this, a growl was suddenly heard and the bush rattled as whatever was in there was moving. Then, the creature revealed itself as it pounced out of the bush with a roar.

"Woah!" Mikey cried out as he dodged out of the creature's way before it could attack him.

"Mikey!" The older turtles cried out as they hurried over to their youngest's side.

When Mikey turned and looked at the creature, his eyes widened in shock as he recognised the features on its body. It was a werewolf!

The werewolf saw Mikey's older brothers coming and decided to flee due to fearing that it wouldn't stand a chance against four humanoid turtles.

"Are you ok!?" Donnie asked Mikey in concern when he saw him on the ground and shaking like a leaf.

"Y-Yeah…I-I'm fine…" Mikey answered shakily as he stood back up with the help of Donnie.

"What da shell was dat!?" Raph questioned in surprise.

"T-That was…a werewolf! An actual werewolf!" Mikey answered, now in excitement.

"It can't be! They're only a legend…!" Donnie countered in denial.

"Well, that was no legend that we just saw…!" Leo replied whilst shaking his head.

Just then, the turtles heard and saw a group of humans running in the same direction that the werewolf took. They immediately ducked behind some bushes to keep out of sight.

"Who da shell are those guys…?" Raph questioned in a whisper.

"Humans, and they look like they're from an old village judging by their old-looking clothes…" Mikey observed.

"You're right, Mikey, and it looks like those people are trying to capture that werewolf…" Donnie theorised quietly.

"Come on, let's check it out! But stay in the shadows!" Leo said before he and his brothers followed the humans whilst staying hidden in the bushes and trees.

Soon, they came to another clearing. By the time they arrived, they saw the villagers surrounding the werewolf that was now trapped inside a thick rope net.

"They've caught it!" Mikey hissed in surprise.

"Yeah, but it's not over yet; look, the werewolf is trying to break free from the net…!" Donnie pointed out when he noticed that the werewolf was using its claws to try and break out of the net.

Just then, a young man wearing slightly wealthy clothes decided to try and take out the werewolf on his own by jumping onto the net without thinking twice, and he struggled to get his small blade out of his belt due to the furry creature's constant wiggling.

"What's he doin'!? Is he crazy!?" Raph hissed as he watched the man cling onto the net with all his might.

"He actually reminds me of you, Raph…" Leo said in slight amusement, causing Raph to silently glare at him with an annoyed look as if to say, 'what's that supposed to mean?'.

"No, Anna, don't! Stay back!" One of the male villagers told a young woman, who was wearing similar style clothing to Velkan, firmly as he tried to hold her back.

"That's my brother!" The young woman cried out before she broke free from the man's grip and ran towards where Velkan was with the werewolf.

"Brother? They're siblings…?" Mikey questioned in surprise.

"It seems so…" Leo said in wonder.

Suddenly, the werewolf cut itself free from the net and fell towards the ground. Velkan had to let go of the net's rope during the fall and he landed hard on the ground, causing him to be stunned for a moment. Then, the werewolf spotted Anna and made a run towards her.

"Run, Anna, run!" Another villager shouted, fearful for the woman's safety.

Anna didn't have to be told twice; she made a dash through the forest to try and get away from the werewolf. Velkan wasn't too far behind them.

"C'mon!" Leo hissed before he and his brothers followed Anna whilst staying hidden within the bushes and trees.

Anna ran as fast as her legs could carry her until she came to a sudden stop at the edge of a river gorge. Moments later, the werewolf appeared right in front of her. Panic slowly started to set in as she was trapped with the werewolf standing in front of her and both the left and right sides of the pathways were too narrow for her to make a speedy escape.

"Oh, shell! We gotta do something or she'll be werewolf food!" Mikey hissed in desperation and worry.

His older brothers agreed, but just as they were about to jump into action, someone else had beaten them to it.

"Anna!" It was Velkan, and he dived in front of Anna and struck the werewolf just as it attacked him.

As the large creature fell, it took Velkan with it and they both landed in the rapid waters of the ravine, with no sign of coming back up from its depths.

"Velkan…" Anna whispered as she looked down at the gorge in sadness for her brother's sacrifice.

But the female human wasn't the only one feeling this way; the turtle brothers were looking at the scene with sorrowful faces because there was nothing that they could do to stop it all from happening.

"That poor lady…" Mikey whispered sadly with his head now lowered.

"Yeah, her brother sacrificed himself to protect her…his own sister…" Donnie said with a nod.

"Come on, guys…There's nothing we can do here…" Leo said in a sorrowful tone before he walked away, with his younger brothers following him from behind.
