Chapter 4-Attack of the Vampire Brides!

The crowd screamed at the sight of the creature and they all started to scatter and run to safety. It was then that another two vampiric women appeared by her side and started to spread out and chase after the villagers.

"What da shell are those things!?" Raph questioned in horror.

"Dracula's brides!" Van Helsing answered before he fired another bow at one of the flying brides.

"Everybody, inside!" Anna told the villagers as she ran to help them take shelter inside the buildings whilst trying to keep the vampire brides away from them at the same time.

"Aleera, Verona, kill the strangers!" The middle bride commanded evilly.

"With pleasure, Marishka…!" "Ha, ha, ha, ha!" The two other brides replied happily before they flew towards the crowd.

"W-What should we do!?" Mikey asked shakily in fear.

"Run, and help get the villagers to safety! We can't fight them like this!" Leo commanded before he and his brothers ran to help the villagers reach for shelter and safety.

In the middle of the crowd, a mother and her 6-year-old daughter were running for their lives when the young girl suddenly tripped over some rope which got tangled around her lower leg shortly after.

"Momma!" The little girl cried out as she struggled to get her foot freed from the tangled rope. Unfortunately, her mother was too far away to hear her and she just kept on running without even noticing that her daughter was in danger.

The vampire brides spotted the helpless girl and they immediately flew down towards her at full speed. Mikey was the first and only person to immediately see this.

"Hold on!" Mikey cried out as he hurried over to the little girl, hoping to get to her first before any of the flying brides do.

"Mikey, no! It's dangerous!" Leo tried to call his brother back, but the youngest turtle ignored him and carried on running towards the child.

The girl screamed and curled herself up as the vampire brides flew closer to her with their fangs showing and ready for the kill.

"Get away from her!" Mikey shouted as he took out a kunai from his belt and threw it straight towards the nearest vampire, striking her in the right shoulder.

"Aaarrgghh!" She screamed in pain as she stopped in mid-air.

"Aleera!" The other two brides cried out in unison as they flew to her aid.

Taking advantage of their distraction, Mikey ran towards the girl and quickly but carefully untangled the rope from her leg. He then checked the girl, who was still curled up and shaking in fear.

"D-Don't hurt me…" She squeaked out shakily with a sob.

"Shhh…It's ok, sweetie, I'm here to help…let's get you to safety…" Mikey soothed the girl as he gently picked her up and held her bridal-style in his arms.

Though scared at first, the little girl felt a bit safe with Mikey and she wrapped her arms around his neck as she held on for dear life when Mikey started running towards where his brothers were with the villagers.

The two brides were able to remove the blade out of Aleera's shoulder, the wound of which immediately healed on its own seconds later, and when they saw Mikey running away from them with the girl in his arms, they became furious and charged after him.

"Run, Mikey, run!" "Hurry, they're coming back!" Leo and Donnie cried out desperately when they saw the vampiric women chasing their brother.

Thinking on his feet, Van Helsing told Carl to pass him his spare crossbow and he hurried towards Mikey with it.

"Michelangelo, catch!" He shouted as he threw the crossbow at Mikey, who jumped and caught it swiftly before he aimed it at the brides.

"Eat this, creeps!" He cried out as he fired the first few arrows at the brides with one hand whilst keeping a secure hold on the little girl with the other.

The brides shrieked as the arrows pierced through their wings and bodies, but the wounds quickly healed themselves as soon as they pulled the ones embedded in their bodies out. However, this still made the brides fly away from Mikey and the little girl.

"Whoa…" Raph breathed out in amazement.

"Who knew Mikey was good with a crossbow?" Donnie wondered in awe.

"Now's our chance whilst they're low in the air! Turtles, attack!" Leo commanded before he, Raph, and Donnie charged towards the brides with their weapons in their hands.

Leo reached them first and he jumped up to slash Aleera on her front, but she was swifter than him and managed to fly away from his attack. Then, Raph jumped up and tried to stab Verona in the chest, but she was too quick and flew away from him as well. Donnie, on the other hand, jumped and used his bo to lift himself higher to try and land a kick on Marishka, but the bride managed to grab his leg and throw him towards the roof of a house, causing him to crash right through it.

"Donnie!" Both Leo and Raph cried out with worry after seeing it happen.

"I-I'm okay…!" Donnie called out shakily as he held his sore head and waited for the dizziness to pass before getting back up.

Suddenly, the sun shown through the clouds as they slowly moved out of its way in the sky, and everything went quiet when the vampire brides went into hiding without anyone knowing.

Slowly, the villagers got out of their hiding places and walked out into the open whilst looking around. Van Helsing pointed his crossbow in the air as he kept an eye out for the reappearance of the vampire brides.

"The sun..." Anna pointed out to Van Helsing as she looked up at the sky.

"Where'd they go?" Raph questioned as he looked around furiously for the brides.

"They're hiding…vampires are too vulnerable against the sun…" Mikey answered, pointing up at the bright sky.

Van Helsing continued to look around with his crossbow at the ready before he swiftly turned around when he heard a noise coming from behind him. There wasn't anything there, besides a well.

He and Anna, who had picked up a curled blade, quietly sneaked towards the well to reduce the risk of exposing themselves to the potential threat. As soon as they reached the edge of the well, they nodded at each other before they quickly moved their upper bodies forwards

As this was going on, however, the duo hadn't noticed that the sun was getting covered up by the clouds again.

"Err…Van Helsing…!?" Carl said nervously when he noticed this first.

Then, suddenly…

Shriiiiiieeeeek!

The vampire bride, Aleera, shot out of the darkness of the well and grabbed Anna as she flew.

"Anna!" Leo and his brothers cried out in unison before watching as Van Helsing fired his crossbow at the vampire bride.

"Do you like to fly, Anna…?" Aleera asked sarcastically with a sickening smile and evil laugh as she continued flying.

With some quick thinking, Anna took out her knife and slashed Aleera's leg, forcing her to let go. However, as she fell towards the ground, she was caught by Verona who flew past Van Helsing as he aimed his crossbow and fired an arrow at her.

Fortunately, the arrow struck the bride's foot, making her release Anna who landed near a house before locking the door behind her. As she worked on catching her breath, she turned around and jumped with a gasp when she saw Aleera hanging upside down in front of her.

"Hello, Anna…!" Aleera greeted with a hiss before jumping down and turning into her human form with a smile.

"N-Nice to see you too, Aleera…" Anna replied flatly but bravely whilst doing her best to hide her nervousness.

/

Van Helsing's side…

"Go and help Anna! I've got this one!" Van Helsing exclaimed at the turtles as he refocused his attention on Marishka.

"Alright! Donnie, you and Raph go help Anna! Mikey, stay hidden with the girl and keep her safe until they're gone! I'll stay and help Van Helsing!" Leo commanded firmly.

"Got it!" Raph, Donnie, and Mikey replied with a nod before they went to complete their separate missions; Raph and Donnie hurried towards Anna's location, whilst Mikey hid behind some barrels with the girl.

/

Anna's side…

"Have I done something to you in your past life?" Anna questioned as she walked backwards slowly.

"Don't play coy with me, Princess…" Aleera answered with a sneer as she slowly walked towards her.

Anna quickly turned and dashed back towards the door and opened it, only to reveal Aleera who was blocking her way as she spoke.

"I know what lurks in your lusting heart…"

"I hope you have a heart, Aleera…because someday I'm going to drive a stake through it!" Anna bit back bravely.

Just seconds after saying that, Anna was swiftly slapped hard by Aleera, causing her to fly sideways, smash through the wall of the house, and land hard on the ground. She quickly got up and ran to another building to hide in.

/

Back in the courtyard…

Carl hastily searched through his bag to find anything useful to help Van Helsing defeat the brides. It was then that he took out a bottle filled with liquid.

"This ought to do the trick…Holy water!" He shouted before he threw it towards Marishka, but Verona appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the Holy bottle before dropping it into the well.

"Stop your teasing, Marishka, and finish them!" Verona scolded before flying off to back up Aleera.

"Too bad, too sad…" Marishka said teasingly as she looked at Van Helsing.

"The church!" Carl suddenly cried out as he pointed at the water tap, which was dripping with pure holy water, in front of the church.

Van Helsing looked at the tap and then back at Marishka, who eyed him darkly with her fangs starting to show again. Suddenly, he made a run towards his crossbow, but Marishka moved at the exact same time and charged towards him before knocking him away just as he was about to grab his weapon.

"Van Helsing! Hold on!" Leo cried out as he ran towards the weapon to try and retrieve it for Van Helsing, but Marishka was already onto him; she charged towards the blue-banded turtle and tackled him, causing him to crash into a few boxes of fruit and vegetables.

"Leonardo!" Van Helsing cried out as he got back up and tried to run to his aid, but, once again, Marishka quickly tackled him and made him land hard on the ground.

/

Raph's and Donnie's side…

Raph and Donnie saw Anna running for the safety of another house and they immediately ran after her to assist her. When they got to the door, however, they discovered that it was locked from the inside.

"Anna, it's us!" "Open da door!" The duo called out as they banged on the door, but they received no response from her, so they decided to charge at the door to try and break it down.

The reason was because, unbeknownst to them, Anna had already ran into a trap with Aleera and Verona slowly ganging up on her.

"The last of the Valerious…" Verona said, pitying her mockingly.

Anna tried to fight back, but Verona grabbed her and tightened her grip on Anna's wrist, making her lower herself down in pain.

"I can feel fresh blood rushing through her veins…" Verona said lustfully as she and Aleera got closer to a struggling Anna.

Soon, the two turtles had managed to enter the building by breaking down the locked door, and they saw that Anna was being surrounded and restrained by the two vampire brides in the dining room.

"Let her go, now!" Donnie demanded.

"Do not move, or we will kill her quickly!" Verona warned as she gripped Anna more tightly, making her grunt in pain.

"Grr…" Raph growled and was about to charge at them when Donnie held him back and shook his head to tell him not to move. The two brides then turned their attentions back on Anna.

"I want first bite…!" Aleera said hungrily, only to be warned off by Verona.

"Sneak attack, Donnie…?" Raph asked in a whisper.

"Mm!" Donnie hummed quietly before he and Raph begun to tip-toe slowly and silently to avoid being caught by the vampire duo.

/

Leo's and Van Helsing's side…

Van Helsing groaned and slowly lifted his head up from the ground. It was then that he spotted his crossbow just inches away from him.

Leo was also coming around from his daze and getting up from the pile of partly squashed fruit and vegetables, and he noticed Van Helsing looking at the crossbow in front of him.

'Come on, Van Helsing…! Pick it up and run to the holy water…!' He begged in thought since he couldn't move due to Mariska watching them both from above.

Luckily, Van Helsing was able to grab his crossbow, get back up, and make a run towards the holy water tap. Marishka immediately saw this and scowled before she quickly soared towards him.

"Here she comes!" Carl warned as he pointed at the charging bride.

Unfortunately for her, Van Helsing had reached the tap first and dipped the end of the crossbow to soak the sharp ends of the arrows with the holy water, and then he turned around just as the vampire bride was close up to him before firing his crossbow to release a few arrows at her.

The arrows instantly struck Marishka and she screamed in agony whilst trying to fly further up into the air when another set of arrow pinned her to the surface of a house's roof.

"Bullseye!" Leo cheered when he saw this happen.

/

Raph's and Donnie's side…

Hearing her pained cries and sensing that something was wrong, Aleera and Verona shrieked and let go of Anna before they flew up and out through the roof. Raph and Donnie were confused at first, but they put that to one side for now and hurried over to Anna's side.

"Are you alright!?" Donnie asked in concern as he checked the human female for any injuries.

"Y-Yes, I'm fine…but I think something must have happened to Marishka to make the other two leave…" Anna answered.

"Well, let's hurry up and go check it out!" Raph said hastily before he, Donnie, and Anna hurried out of the house to investigate.

/

Outside…

"NOOO!" "Marishka!" Aleera and Verona cried out in agony and heartbreak before they flew away in retreat to report back to their Lord Dracula.

Leo and Van Helsing watched as Marishka screamed in pain whilst her body slowly disintegrated into ashes, thanks to the effects of the holy water.

"Great job, Van Helsing...!" Leo complimented as he walked towards the human male.

"Thank you, Leonardo…" Van Helsing breathed out with a small smile before watching as Leo sat down next to him to take a moment to regain his strength too.

"Urgh…Disgustin'…" Raph said with a grimace as he, Donnie, and Anna walked towards the now tired Leo and Van Helsing.

"Are the other two brides gone?" Donnie asked nervously.

"Yes, for now…" Van Helsing answered as he put his crossbow away.

Just then, Mikey came out of hiding and was slowly walking towards his brothers with the little girl walking next to him whilst holding his hand.

"Are you both alright?" Leo asked in concern whilst standing back up.

"Yeah, I'm ok…" Mikey answered reassuringly before looking at the little girl.

"Are you ok?" He asked softly.

"Mm-hm…" The little girl hummed and nodded, confirming that she was unharmed.

As soon as the atmosphere was calmer and quieter, the villagers slowly came out of their hiding places and walked towards the turtles, Van Helsing, and Carl. It was then that the little girl gasped when she spotted her mother.

"Momma! Momma!" The little girl called out to her mother as she let go of Mikey's hand and ran over to her with tears in her eyes.

"Mila!" Her mother replied in relief as she hugged her daughter tightly and started sobbing with joy to see her alive and safe in her arms. She then looked up at Mikey, who was slowly walking towards the duo whilst looking at them with a warm smile.

"Thank you…Thank you so much…!" She breathed out in gratitude.

"Thank you, sir…" Little Mila said next in a shy tone.

"You're welcome…and you can just call me Mikey; there's no need to be formal…" Mikey replied softly with a nod as he knelt down to her level.

Mila nodded with a smile and she ran over to him to give him a hug, which a surprised Mikey greatly accepted, before going back to her mother.

"Nice work, bro…" Raph complimented whilst placing a hand on Mikey's shoulder.

"Yeah, even though it was reckless of you to just charge into the battle like that, you did the right thing with saving the girl…" Leo said proudly in agreement, placing a hand on Mikey's other shoulder.

"Hey, it was a team effort…I couldn't have gotten out of there alive without you guys backing me up…!" Mikey reminded in a grateful tone before he turned to look at Van Helsing.

"Thanks for lending me your crossbow, Van Helsing…" He said whilst handing the crossbow back to the human male.

"You're welcome, my friend…I must say that you seem very skilled with this kind of weapon…" Van Helsing replied whilst accepting the weapon back.

"Well, me and my bros have trained with a lot of different weapons back home; it's part of learning to adapt to different weapon types during difficult situations…" Mikey explained as professionally as he could.

"Right, and even though we have our own signature weapons, we try not to become too dependent on them as each situation is different and they would require different types of weapons…" Donnie added wisely.

Whilst the male group continued talking to one another, they hadn't noticed that the villagers were talking amongst themselves about what had just happened.

"Those men and creatures saved our lives…!" "Yeah, and that one with the orange mask risked his life to save Mila…!" "Who are they?" "Who is that man?"

"His name is Van Helsing…and I must say I am very impressed with your battle skills…" Anna answered in admiration, silencing the villagers, before she looked at the turtle brothers.

"It seems that I have misjudged you, turtle creatures…even though you are not completely human, you have saved us and are now worthy of our trust here…" She said apologetically.

"Thank you, Anna…It's our job to help and protect those in need…" Leo replied gratefully with a bow, with his brothers doing the same.

"State your names, please…" Anna demanded softly.

"I am Leonardo, and these three are my younger brothers…" Leo said as he pointed at himself and then at his brothers.

"Da name's Raphael…" Raph said next.

"I'm Donatello…" Donnie said afterward.

"And I'm Michelangelo…!" Mikey said lastly with a little smile and wave.

"Charmed…Are you from Rome, then? Your names sound Italian…" Anna asked curiously with a small smile.

"Oh, erm…not exactly; we've actually come from somewhere very far away from here…" Donnie answered awkwardly as he wasn't sure how Anna would react if he told her that they were from another time.

"How far away do you mean?" Anna asked in confusion.

"Well…" Leo started to answer, but he too begun to feel unsure and awkward on what he should say to her.

"Actually, we should answer that question for another time; we have more pressing matters to discuss…" Van Helsing interrupted suddenly.

"Ah, yes…forgive me…you said earlier that you came here to help me for some reason…" Anna pointed out.

"Correct, and it involves Dracula…" Van Helsing replied seriously.

The villagers gasped in horror after hearing that name, but Anna immediately spoke to try and reassure them.

"It is alright, everyone…go back to the safety of your homes; there is nothing to fear as Dracula will not be coming to this village…!"

When the villagers had calmed down and begun to head back to their homes, Anna refocussed her attention on the male group.

"I think it would be best if we discussed this more within the walls of my castle…We are too exposed out here to be talking about such a matter…" She said wisely.

"Yes, I agree…" Van Helsing replied in agreement.

"Come, follow me…" Anna commanded before she started walking away.

The turtle brothers, Van Helsing, and Carl looked at each other before they nodded and started following Anna from behind.

"Thank you for jumping in earlier, Van Helsing…" Leo whispered gratefully as he walked next to Van Helsing.

"You're welcome, Leonardo…I feel that it would be best if you told Anna your story after we reach her home…" Van Helsing replied wisely.

"I agree with you, though I only hope that Anna understands the situation we're in and not freak out about it…" Leo said nervously.

"Well, we'll just have to wait and see, my friend…" Van Helsing said with an amused smile before he refocused his walk on the path that led towards Anna's home, Valerious Castle.

Author's notes:

Sorry for the slight delay on this chapter, I had to do a bit of studying on the vampire brides fight scene in the movie to add some of it in the story.

Also, Mila is a child character that I made up to help show Mikey's heroic side and his great ability around kids.

I will be updating the story again as soon as the next chapter is finished, which shouldn't be too long but I'm not making any promises

I hope you have enjoyed this chapter, and thank you for your patience ;)
